I don't see the problem sir; T8585 is the internal name of the product sir!
luckily fore us have HTC give it a commercial name "HD 2"
If not, imagine you are talking with your friend about your mobile device; and he ask you witch model it is, and you say Ow, its the new HTC T8585 !!???
You see not commercial!! so that's way in commercial language we used "HTC HD 2" ore even "HTC Leo"
But if I was you don't border you with that
hi and thnx for info when i sow t8585 i thot that is som chinese **** because thera are phone copy-es that start wiht the letter T

no it doesn't mean its European, it means it not a tmous. ALL hd2 have white keys, except tmous hd2's.
Putting different regions and such is absolutely fine. Your phone is safe from the dreaded 'radio brick' which people get if they flash regional roms to tmous (only tmous) phones. You do not have a tmous, so you can take any rom.
Just because you use telstra, doesnt mean you have to use a telstra rom. Im pretty sure most roms will have the telstra settings included, and if they dont, there are several telstra threads here telling you how to make it work.

hi all is there any hardware difference between ameo and u 1000.
coz i heard that theres a micro drive issue in the ameo
No, originally people had issues with some of the Microdrives in the U1000, but that has all been sorted now. I think it was software related, but there is no difference in hardware between the two devices.

it's a easy decision for you, if you only want the silver one, go for Ameo, since it's cheaper (on ebay maybe) or just sign up a contract with T-mobile, now some thing you will need to know, All three machine (HTC Advantage, T-mobile Ameo, DOPOD U1000) has Microdrive issue, it's to do with their ROM, you are more likely to find it on Advantage compare to DOPOD U1000 OR Ameo, Actually, DOPOD U1000 is even less likely to happen compare to Ameo due to it's recent ROM update.
If you are not T-mobile customer and will be using other sim card, then you need to consider the sum unlock issue, you can get it done by paying some money.
If you are new to PDA and don't know what CID lock is, and you would want to update your ROM frequently, then t-mobile might not be such a good chose, they don't provide that must support on upgrade and currently there are no promise on WM6 update too.
So really, you should ask yourself these question, are you going to use it with other sim card other then T-mobile (other country)? will you want to upgrade to latest ROM (wm6) without breaking the warranty?
Good luck with your decision, after all, you are about to purchase a wonderful device.
Thanks wu
i am going to use another sim and its unlocked and without warranty
i think pof or asukal or gurus like u might find out how 2 unlock cid
i will go for ameo then
thanks a lot buddy
I have an Hermes right now... and I love it (Thanks to PDACorner's excellent WM6.1 ROM). But... I cant keep thinking I would be even happier with a Rafael
Does someone know if the phone is expected in Japan (I havent found anything from Softbank or Docomo) ?
If not I was even considering buying the phone online but if I remember well wifiwake is device specific so I wont be able to get my flat fee package for packets to work I guess...

Wrong forum bro might pay to look on the other side also what does expansys say?
Yes and no... I hesitated between the 2 threads... Since with Softbank the only HTC device available is the Hermes, and the access to Softbank flatrate is password protected (and we do not have the password...) it does make sense to post here. People wishing to upgrade from their Softbank X01HT are all going to face this issue...
Any way fr the ones who have interest, au will be the operator selling the Touch Pro
My question is its not a 3G phone and I have AT&T here in the states. Will flashing a new ROM add 3G capabilities or is that a hardware issue?
Also can Technologists kernel be added to a stock Hero? Or do I need a custom rom?
Believe it or not, I am not new, played with HTC touch for 1 year and love xda. But still need my hand held for android yet..
I believe the problem is that the GSM here in the states uses a different radio frequency that the hardware isn't capable of switching to...that the rest of the world uses. You might want to confirm what bands China uses compared to EU and US GSM but I know the EU ones don't have full 3G here due to that issue.
yeah the Telus Hero in Canada works on AT&T's 3g but not the EU one.
Ok, well it came today and, well I now have a Tiger WG3 clone in my hands. I will send it back, but wondering how could I check the OS on it? The browsing I did has suggested its android based?
Is there something like TKE explore that will allow me to see the internals??
If this is what you've got, you've been had.
This isn't a Hero, and never will be a Hero. It doesn't/won't run Android.
Sorry!
Dave
Dave,
That looks like it for sure. Did you have one to play around with? I will send it back, but want to explore the insides abit if I can find a program to work with it.
Thanks for the reply.
No, I didn't buy one of those, but I did buy an iPhone mini "clone" because I wanted to try out the "dual sim" side of the phone. Unfortunately, it was a steam pile of dingos kidneys, and judging by the UI of the "Tiger WG3", it comes from the same family!
Hope you get your money back!
Dave
Thank god i found this post - i was about to get a tiger gw3 due to it being a dual sim phone and a hero look alike, so its true - those phones just has a pile of dingos kidneys inside.
thank you
HTC Hero Clone Running WinMo 6.5 Won't Detect SIM
Erased and put in the Q & A section instead. Sorry for putting it in the wrong place.
is that really a FM Aerial on the top of the phone?
I think you can buy HTC Hero G3 Android from china sourcinggate.com/htc-hero-g3-android-wifi-quadband-gps-smart-mobile-phone-white-p-12548.html

Ok, is it possible to get the official hd2 new rom on my virgin media hd2, im currently running 1.66. It says my serial number is invalid on the site because its a branded phone (but its not network locked). Also, does flashing a custom/new rom thats not correctly branded void warrenty? thanks.
I contacted HTC about this as I am also on Virgin and they said they don't support Virgin mobiles :S Bit off considering I got this as a contract deal from Virgin
"...bit off considering..."
of whom? htc? not really, it means virgin chose to support their own phones, rather than let htc do it, which would have cost them (virgin) more.
same with most networks, they lock the phones and handle issues themselves, and in return their purchase price is reduced.
goldcard is currently the only method to get a working 3.14 rom on our provider locked phones, gimme a cid and i'll make you one.
Thanks strange, I'm on Virgin and dont have any issues at all
I have gone back to cooked roms and have HSPL on the phone
Have you looked for a wwe serial to use instead of your own?

not that that would be any use, because if it wont download using your serial, it wont install on a phone with that serial, unless you use hspl, which makes 3.14 roms not work.
Besides, if you are gonna use a different serial, you might as well just download it from somewhere that doesnt require a serial, , the leo stock roms thread for instance.

Unless Virgin have made their own ROM for us (which they obviously haven't) then it is out of order.
They shouldn't sign a deal unless they can keep phones maintained, especially buggy ones like this.

heh, dont get me wrong, im right behind you, god bless the capitalist way,,, everyones a winner except the consumer.
Well after speaking to Virgin tech support, they have not stopped you flashing to the latest ROM - they encourage it!!
Go figure it out
In fact I have just entered my serial number - they are Zero's not O's
and it allowed me to download and run (I aborted at the last option) so its not Virgin is it?
I also work for them and vouch for the info
Well I've just been on the HTC website to once again try to upgrade my ROM, it won't even let me download it as it says the software is unsuitable for my device.
I'm looking at putting my phone onto Windows 7, are there any tutorials on how to do this? I've never flashed this phone before.
Hey guys,
So my phone developed a strange white mark on the screen. Took it to get it fixed and finally a month later Vodafone returned a different handset to me with the latest Vodafone ROM on it as I expected.
Bottom line is I don't want the Vodafone ROM on it. Can I simply install the official HTC ROM onto the handset from their website? Is it that simple or will it totally mess up my handset?
Thanks.
Richard.
Ha, just discovered now that it is locked to Vodafone. Can I make an issue out of this with the idiots at Vodafone? HTC website won't let me download their ROMs. What can I do about this?
do a hspl and flash away.......
BIG ISSUE
If the phone you send in to repair was originally an unbranded device and they returned you a branded device. I would make a BIG (oh no a HUGE) issue out of it, they just can't do that. They have to replace it with a similar device, a branded Vodafone device isn't worth half on the second hand market because of SIM-lock.
But you cannot just install a HTC ROM, you'll have to use HSPL2 (1.66HSPL preferable) but HSPL2 can void your warranty, all tough it is reversible. With HSPL2 the Vodafone branded device will still be SIM-locked.
webpatrick this is exactly as I thought...so yesterday before looking at the posts on here I sent a very heated email to Vodafone telling them exactly as it is. This handset is worthless to me. And you are right about the branding. I bought a phone last year that was branded (I didn't know this when I got it) and I had loads of trouble trying to sell it on. I can mess with the ROMs all I want but the bottom line is that any new HTC ROMs would never install unless I HSPL2 it, so how could I sell it on to someone without telling them that it is branded? I can't.
Words cannot convey how fuming I am with Vodafone right now. It took them a month to get a working device back into my hands...and then it wasn't even my device or indeed a similarly set up device. Absolutely pathetic. This means I have to make more journeys to the Vodafone store, waste my time and money etc.
Thanks for your posts guys. I will let you know what develops. I should be recieving a reply to my email at some point soon.
Richard
Ok so I got this email back from them today. How do you think I should proceed?
"Hello Richard,
To reinstall the HTC ROM on your phone you can visit the nearest Vodafone stores.
Alternatively, you need to contact the HTC manufacturer if they can help you to reinstall the HTC ROM on your phone.
I trust this helps."
What should I do? Should I persue the issue or do one of the above?
Thanks
Richard
So basically....THEY DIDN'T READ MY EMAIL.
So it was originally branded, you probable had a bit of discount back then.
But the employee that sold it to you probable didn't know it was branded neither. Vodafone used to brand devices with a visible vodafone logo on the outside, and they didn't do that with the HD2.
I also was mislead by it a year ago, but since an vodafone upgrade is available, i don't bother anymore, cause I can install any ROM I like with HSPL2 (except new 3.14 ROMs), and revert with the official vodafone upgrade if needed.
So if you want an original HTC ROM, you have to use HSLP2 or for the latest HTC ROM a GoldCard, cause there's no HSPL for the new 3.14 ROMs (with SPL 3.03.0000 bootloader) (see Artemis Thread).
Turns out I have just installed custom roms. I figured that I might as well void the warranty. I will just revert to the stock if worse comes to worse.
