Hello
I am a newcomer to smartphones and WM. Some questions for kind souls out there:
- Since a few days back the message and mail functions on my home screen don't work properly. I can see the first lines of messages and e-mails but I can't go to the inboxes, nor write new messages using the "new message"/"New e-mail" functions on the home screen. Instead I have to go through start menu/messaging and so on. That way it works fine. Does anyone know why this has happened and what I can do about it?
- I notice that many programs don't have an exit option, to close them down. I usually go into task manager to quit them. Is that what you are supposed to do or should you have them running? I don't get it.
- Is there no simple way to navigate between your programs and tasks? If I am using one program and want to use another, I usually go to home screen then start menu then open the other program (which is already running). There must be a simpler way?
- When I am using Google Maps with GPS and leave the program (though keeping it running) it seems the GPS stops its connection - when I enter the program again, it takes some time to get the signal again. This is quite inconvenient. Why is this so, and what can I do about it?
- After I did a backup (pimbackup) and a hard reset, my Quick notes application (included with the phone) was gone - and with it, my notes. Is there a way to retrieve them? If not, can I at least find the app somewhere - or even better - does anyone know a good freeware for making notes and sharing them between phone and PC?
- When I restored my contacts I accidentally chose to include my messenger contacts in my contact list. I really don't want those there but I cannot find any way of deleting only them. Does anyone know?
Thanks!

No... I just reboot it when this happens.

That's true, just close using task manager.

Task Manager or the back-button.

I think this is to make sure your battery doesn't drain. Don't have a solution, but there are probably tools available that keep your GPS alive.
Thank you for your views. But doesn't anyone have any better or alternative tips? The home screen messaging problem keep coming back and it shouldn't, I don't want to reboot all the time, there must be a reason for it.
Hello,
I just installed Android Booster FREE. It's an app that allows you to see what apps are draining the most.
And I maybe found a reason of high OS usage.
On my phone the top 1 draining app is MTP Application(with 36%). Since it's an Android app(package name: "com.android.MtpApplication), it'll be counted in Android OS and is indeed listed.
Could anyone please try and verify this on their own phones? To see app specific usage, install with link above, open it ->Utilities -> Power Manager -> Applications.
Sorry if this isn't the reason or if it's only on my phone. But I don't think so. And it would be a good reason since MTP application is Samsung-specific. My firmware: XKE2.
Please let me know! Thanks!
And please don't vote if you have frozen your apps !

Yeah I just frozen it and renamed the apk to be sure, but I need feedback(and % eventually) from those who haven't frozed it and are reporting high OS usages.

that's strange, but that's also counted as a part of "Android OS" I think, so it could be that (even though I don't have that!).
Are you sure that this program works? It lists Video maker as 23% of my power consumption.. And I never ever started the video maker on my phone......

Hmm if it's that I would look a bit dumb with creating a thread for that ^^'. I installed it on advice from someone on this forum in Themes/apps section(here), and I though it wasn't bad because the rest of the apps seems to be correct with me /:.
Here is my usage. Its Android OS again... but look at the time since unplugged and the total power left (60%)!! I have used it quite a bit as well. Ive never had a smart phone that lasts so long.

Wow, this app is definitely not working good . I can't see why keyboard would drain battery. Sorry for this guys. The application probably just go in "Android OS" and pick ups a random application for blaming it.
At least I tried, I guess. :/
here it is: com.sec.android.app.encrypt

Well this app is not good working: it just picks up the first in the list of "Android OS" as I have experienced.
Mine says BluetoothTest!
The MTP makes a certain sense though. If you look in various events in the Autostarts app, it appears a lot.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
What you have to remember with mine is that im NOT getting bad battery life, im getting double that i got with my Desire or Dell streak.

You may want to explain in better detail what the issue is because this thread sounds like " I cant turn on my PC because power is out in the neighborhood".

fixed it sorry for the confusion
Hmmmmm....there's not much you can do for the force close option executing when your battery cell reaches its power output limit. And I do not believe our current android o/s has a ''sleep'' option available when a certain power percentage is reached; at least not built-in.
Are the apps fully functional upon booting up again, or are they fc'ing on you, forcing you to reinstall?

after about an hour they start working again
Hmmm...I do see your point. The apps shouldn't be taking that long to recover. Just drained mine until it turned off by itself, and all the apps ran fine after booting it up.
Have you tried reinstalling the ROM or trying a new one?

what was the application that you installed some days back? also, when the download starts, click and hold on the process in the notification bar, open app info, force stop.

Will the force stop work to disable it forever?? i dont remember what was the app...
and is there any way to completely remove that process?? so it will not download any app automatically forever?
Try following the instructions you've been given.

that is not permanent. you need to force stop it every time you reboot the phone. try uninstalling the apps one by one and reboot phone after every un-installation. possibly cheap rated apps with ad support may cause this.
:good:
Alright. Thanks all for helping me.... im glad that this community is very helpful for all the android users....
Thnx Alot
there is a way, the device to prevent it, to stop the app "car service" or other app when the device in the standby switches.
I have already tried tasker. But this app is then closed and is therefore not suitable.
sorry for my bad google english, i am from german.
what if you create a task to kill car service when in standby and start when out? Perhaps use the bluetooth service start the trigger?
Dave
When the device go to standby, tasker is killed and when the device wake up, tasker dont start again
I'm going to have to test that on mine today, I was unaware it did not come backup.
** UPDATE **
My tasker opened up just find after standby.
Dave
Strangely, my tasker remains closed

Is this tasker: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.dinglisch.android.taskerm&hl=hu
How can I set this app in my case?
yes it is
I have the same problem , after standby tasker no longer works at settings on timer . After restarting it works again !
I'm having the same issue.
Using @Malaysk Firmware, when the unit comes back from stand by mode ( turned off the car an turned on again), TASKER is killed and so is RADARDROID.
This is annoying me.
Does someone got a solution for this?

I didn`t get the point.
My MTC is installed properly.
I edited both "whitelist.ini" and "ss_exceptions.ini" like this:
whitelist.ini
net.dinglisch.android.taskeram
ss_exceptions.ini
com.microntek.avin
com.microntek.media
com.android.browser
Also, these files are stored in the folder mtc-manager at the GPS Card.
Also, i`m using 22.05.2016 Malaysk ROM.
