[Q] Can I install app into appication storage? - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I saw there is 2XXMB free storage inside "Application storage" and only 30MB free space for main device. Can I install app. into this Application storage instead of Main device & storage card?

Internal Memory

I'm just wondering how much internal memory do you guys have left? I have the T-Mob 1024mb but after WinMo, Android, and some apps, all I'm left with is about 75mb. Does that sound about right to you guys?
How do you guys with the 512mb version manage to run both winmo and Android?? I'm using Energy Titanium, which is very light and small already. I'm surprised Android and my apps take up so much.
android runs off the sd card not the internal memory
there is a total of 576MB of ram on the phone plus a 1GB ROM plus a 16GB storage card. You should install apps to the storage card instead of the phone to save space.

When I go into Settings>SD & Phone storage> Under Internal phone storage, it lists 82.47MB, this number changes as I delete and installs apps.

How do you install apps to the sd card? When I download an app from market, it just automatically installs and I'm given a choice to choose either the internal phone storage or sd card.
tap on SD card as that is your external storage and then proceede with the installation

Internal storage is where all apps installed go
The amount of memory shown on box says the total amount of internal memory, cache, system and other partitions (I mean sum of them)

Check your Internal Memory
Then Check your SD Card Memory
You will see Your SD card Memory have a size
although it doesnt have Sd Card.
Try to add the size of your internal memory and sd card
you will see it is the sum of your internal memory

[Q] Moving apps from device memory to internal USB memory

Hi All,
I recently bought a Samsung S2 mobile which has an internal USB memory of 11.5 GB and a device memory of 2 GB. I didn't buy an external SD card.
As I install apps on the phone, the device memory is getting full. Android apps like app2SD and astro file manager only facilitate in moving movable apps to "external SD card". Is there an app or a way by which I can free up my device memory by moving the apps into USB memory?

i am seriously not aware of such app but by rooting your phone you can do that but also many apps or their widgets might not work properly

If you're on ICS, it's built into the system if the app makes it available.
Go to Application settings, and look at the app. There is a button that says "Move to SD card". That should move it to your internal SD card, or what is also called the "internal USB memory".

[Q] Unable to move apps to INTERNAL USB STORAGE.

Somebody plz let me know any workaround for moving apps to Internal USB storage. Under settings>application manager> there is an option to move apps to external sd card only. Is it possible to install/move apps to internal usb storage (around 11.5 GB). Please help.
Phone - Galaxy s2 (At&t sgh i777)
ROM - Shostock3 rom (android 4.1.2)

I can only think of using a usb cable and manually storing in Internal SD Card.
Is it possible to partition the internal usb storage so as to use it as an external sd card ? Or can we change the default installation location of apps to Internal usb storage.
Please note that I am not using an external sd card. So i would like to move/install apps to internal usb storage. I have also read that many android phones have this option "Move to usb storage" under application manager.

Try taking out the data from the sd card, removing the sd card from the phone, and moving that data to the Internal SD Card. I don't think Shostock3 has that option.
I have all my apps and data installed in internal storage (i.e. 2 GB storage). But unable to move them to usb storage. I haven't mounted any external sd card. The storage is as follows :
Internal storage - 2 gb which is almost full because of apps
USB storage - 11 GB of which 9 GB
is occupied with audio, video and other files.
I seek to use this free space of usb storage for installing apps.
Try the app Move2SD.

None of the apps allow moving of apps to usb storage. They could only move them to external sdcard.

I found the solution for you. Try going into applications, click the app you wanna move, and click Move to SD Card. If it moves to the external card, remove that then try. It works for me.
Without external sd card mounted, when i click move to sd card; it says "not enough storage space". But with external sd card mounted, I am able to move apps only to external sd card and not usb storage.

That's imo going to be your best bet. Just manually move your apps to your usb storage through your pc.
Also, if you have ES file explorer, have you tried to use it to move your files to the usb storage?
Thanks for your replies. I have mounted an external sd card and using link2sd to move apps to it. One thing I noticed that with sd card mounted, when I move apps to external sd card, some part of the app moves to the usb storage and also the app size increases after doing so. However, still there is no direct way of moving/installing apps to usb storage without an external sd card.

free up storage space
A simple way to free up storage space is by deleting all the log files in the device memory. Just dial *#9900# on your phone and select option 2 “Delete dumpstate/logcat” in the prompted menu. It's not necessary to root your phone either. That’s it!

FYI, this code only works on Samsung-based roms; it won't work on AOSP roms.

Internal memory

So, under settings -> storage, I'm seeing the external SD card as it should but the internal memory is only 2.35GB. Isn't it supposed to be near to 13GB? I am not getting any low storage space or anything, just setting my available space.
Maybe the space is there with another name, how do I check the available internal space? DiskInfo is showing the similar thing.

There are three storage areas in the stock Rezound...
Apps - about 2.3GB
Phone Storage - about 13GB
These are part of the internal 16GB of storage in the phone itself, and is shared with the operating system, cache partitions, app partitions, and regular storage. They are segmented and cannot be joined and actually seen as one drive.
External Storage - about 15GB (sd card dependant)
each one is it's own partition, you cannot access the "App" area without root access. the Phone Storage is the "HTC STORAGE" drive that opens when you connect to the PC, the unnamed volume is the external SD card.

I can only see
Total space - 2.3, then sub-sections like downloads, cached etc
SD card - (external card space), same sub-sections
Unmount SD
Erase SD
Does your settings like any different?

Yes, I am running a custom ROM. That could be the reason for the different screen.
There is an issue sometimes with the newer ROMs where the internal or external memory is not seen in the ROM but is when connected by USB... You usually just need to format the partition in FAT32 either via CWM/TWRP/Amon Ra or Windows.
Can you browse to it with ES File Explorer or other file manager?

Would you be willing to list out the process for properly formatting the internal storage? I've tried several things, the most recent of which was mounting through recovery and formatting with Windows. However, the internal storage still can't be accessed by the camera, in ES File Explorer, etc. Thanks for any help you can provide.

In TWRP, you would go to wipe - advanced wipe - then select only internal SD option.

I am using the solid exp and here's this folder "Internal memory" at SystemRoot, Now, this internal memory is actually my memory card. At the systemroot, there's another folder named "Storage". This folder has these 3 sub-folders - Internal memory (same as the previous one), sdcard1 (empty with free space 376MB) and usbdisk0 (empty with 376MB).
BTW, using the Xenon HD ROM and as far as I can remember, TRON had the same folders and all.
