CoPilot - how to find my license key?? - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Right, I've flashed my HD2 with a new ROM, and before I did that, I backed up naything I wanted to keep from my SD card. One of those being the Copilot folder.
Stupidly, I didn't do the de-activate license thing before I did, and also didn't think to check the internal memory.
So when I rebooted with a new ROM, I had no Copilot, and just a load of map data in my SD card.
I have copied the Copilot folder from internal memory from another HD2 and copied it across to mine, Copilot will now boot up, but I have no idea what my license code is now!!
Is there anyway of retrieving it? Will it be within a file on my SD card?
Feel annoyed that the one app I paid for and use a lot, I have done a poor job of backing up!!

formatted SD card...

okay, I'm almost too embarrassed to even post this...
I was flashing my XDA last night with the Developers Edition Rom, and that went smoothly. however, it was really late, and I wasn't paying any attention (lol) to what SD card was in my fone when it askedme if I wanted to format. Stupidly, I said yes I want to format, and then realized that the card inside was the nifty little 32 MB card that came with the phone from At&t that had all the cool games on it.
so my questions are:
1) does anyone know of any utils that can unformat a SD card?
2) does anyone happen to have that at&t card with the games/etc on it that they'd consider making a copy of?
3)does anyone have any other ideas of how I can get another copy of that data??
yeah, it's a petty problem, and I'm a dumbass for flashing my fone at 3:00am, but I'd still appreciate any help
It is possible to unformat a hard drive I believe as the data isnt overwritten, not sure how you would go about it with an sd card, I think its just the header that is changed so if you havent written to the card since format all the data will be there. You could try a disc doctor program such as norton and see which files you can salvage through your card reader.
nope...haven't written anythign to the card yet at all. I've got a copy of Norton utils someplace....I gues sI'll try and see if installing that on my desktop somehow lets me unformat on my SD card though the card reader, lol.
My phone did that to my little games flash, all by itself. I downloaded tons of utilities, but was not able to retrieve anything
Yes you can retrieve your formated data back !!
you need a program and a card reader !!
yeah, I tried that, Norton Utils, and a card reader
no joy on that
Oh well, too late now

[Q] May i loose the installed IGO after flash?

Hi
I just got from Ebay an used HD2 LEO, with installed IGO 8.3 + maps.
Question: If i flash a different ROM, will i loose the IGO, or i can install/start it from the storage card? Also, if i upgrade to a bigger card, may i just copy/past it there?
BTW, the HD2 is light years above my ex Toshiba TG01.
Depends if they left the installation cab on the card.
To more directly answer your question, the Rom flash will erase everything from the phone.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
There in not any sign of IGO in the device. I looked in all directories, not only in Programs and Windows. It seams to be only on the storage card.
Despite that i'm assuming that there is some copyright protection, which not allows just to copy/paste it from one storage cart to another and another phone/rom.
Nobody?
Really?
So, no one ever flashed new ROM, since having IGO installed on the storage card?

Personally I don't use IGO but a other Navigation Software.
In normal cases the software is storage on the SD (also the protection key) so install a new Rom don't mater!
The only thing you can't do is format your SD because it will remove the protection.
the only thing that get lose by Rom update is the Quicklinks,

Before you do anything, I'd recommend that you backup all your storage card contents to your PC or another storage card. You should also consider backing up your HD2 with Spb Backup or something similar. Then, if you can find a copy of the specific ROM that's already loaded on your system, you will be able to fully restore everything back to its current state, if needed.
In regard to IGO8, I'm guessing that as long as you do not wipe the storage card, IGO should be fine. You will just need to copy and paste a shortcut of the IGO.exe to your Windows\Start Menu\Programs Folder, once you finish flashing your new ROM.
Hope this helps...
Best to all,
R

Finally something useful, despite it's only a guess.
Thanks.

Check your storage card with a file explorer, and verify that the IGO.exe is in the IGO Folder. If it is, you should have no problem backing it up or moving it to a larger card.

I have flashed many times and can verify that you can reinstall iGO8 from the 2577 folder on the storage card with all of settings in tact.

I agreed...as long as the 2577 and IGO folder is store in your storage card its doesn't really matter either u flashed it or do the hard reset on your HD2. Currently I am using IGO 8.3.4 for HTC HD2.
Thanks
I'm going to look out for new ROMs. I love this game.
OK I flashed and IGO still works.
Thanks for the support.
Does anyone knows how to get a quick-link for it, since it's on the SD card only?

[Q] Organize The MicroSD

Hello friends,
My phone is a Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray ST18i (2011)....but my question is not related to the phone but all android phones.
I try my best to keep the folders and partitions organized in my laptop. but the same cant be done in the phone's sd card.
if i install a app for an instance, say Handcent app, it creates a folder in the main (root) of the SD card (i suppose /sdcard), with the name "Handcent" and similarly every app i install creates folders and now i have a big messy link of folders.
and also many are uninstalled but the folders are left alone in the card that i need to delete. (which i tend to forget).
Is there a remedy for this matter? anything that will remove the folder and contents (with user permission) when uninstalling the app?
SD card is littered with names and unknown codes that i dont know which app created this.
Please provide a solution that i can keep the card organized well.
Im running ICS 4.0.4 custom rom, with 32GB Class 4 Kingston MicroSD Card.
Thank you all,
Tim
Download system Cleanup from market. It will list those folders as "Delete Dead datafolder".
This tool require root I guess.
If you said about this
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.SystemCleanup.Inteks.org&feature=search_result
it is not the one. cause that is something for the data and app folder inside the android box. not on the sd card. i think something is fitting on SD Maid
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.thedarken.sdm&feature=search_result
Will try the maid and give feedback.
Thank you!
Actually both of the apps work good. need to do some work with that SD Maid. very good one. but need patience to work with. And the other one is good but does all in the system itself. good to clean some caches.
Thanks! will be digging for more.

[Q] Using FolderMount to clear internal space - please help!

Hi, I'm a total noob to Android phones, I admit it. I just got my first smartphone, and it's an old one - an HTC Aria. Thanks to a lot of info here in XDA-developers, I got it rooted with clockwork mod and am using the Cyanogen ROM with Android 2.3 (Gingerbread).
Well, it's such an old phone, I see that it only has ~185 mb internal storage. I added an 8GB SD card. Even though I move my apps to external storage, I can see that the data didn't get moved and is still quickly eating up all the phone's internal storage. I'm trying to use Madmack's "FolderMount" but am having trouble figuring it out. I think it might be an understanding of Android file/folder structure (I have very little). I'm considering buying the "pro" version (if it works for me), just so I can move the whole data folder at once and free up my internal memory again.
Here's my efforts at testing to see if it works. I'm trying to move the data from the "Plague, Inc." game to the external card (the app is already on the external card). So, when I choose source, it automatically starts me in the /mnt/sdcard/ but doesn't allow me to go "up" to any further root folders of that. So I found in the "Android" folder the "data" folder. I tried to FolderMount that but it gave me the error about the non-Pro version. So I tried the "com.miniclip.plagueinc" folder (knowing that it's currently using 15MB of data) and then using an app called SDCardManager (which I understand is supposed to make it easier for me to access my SD Card, like Windows Explorer or something), I made a folder with this path "/mnt/sdcard/foldermount" I think it should be the right path because it's also where my "android.tether" folder is that I know I created myself.
Anyway, when I pair those two folders in FolderMount, it copies stuff over, and the pin looks green, but it shows my internal memory hasn't changed, still almost entirely full. So what do I do to clear it up? I think my problem is in my understanding of the Android's file structure. I think on "source", I should be able to access some folder before "/mnt/sdcard", but I can't get there. Please give this noob help from anyone who can! Thanks!
Can anyone help me with this? Particularly the developer, madmack? I really need to find a way to move the app data to the external memory so I can clear up space. Even if someone could help me understand the file structure better, that'd be helpful. Thanks!

Finally upgraded to a larger sd card.... need help or insight on this issue though.

I just upgraded to a SanDisk 32gb from my old 8gb and now i am missing a lot of my apps. They show in the app drawer, but when i try to open them i get the error that the app is not installed.
Here is what i did, hoping i could save everything.
1. I removed my 8gb card and copied everything to my pc.
2. Then i inserted the new card and copied all the old files to it.
3. I inserted the new sd card into my s5 with the power off on the device.
4. Booted the phone, and the apps show in the drawer, but upon opening the apps i get the message that the app is not installed.
Any help?
Ps> sorry guys that i haven't been around much this month. I had to fire 4 employees of mine over a two week span and pick up their work.
I will try to be more active, for those that missed me. Hehe

You are making an erroneous assumption that a file by file copy would save you from having to reinstall apps. An sector by sector image would have been a better approach. One of the descrepancies between the old card and new is apparently leading the OS to conclude that the installed app files are no longer available.
It might be tied to a volume serial number or erroneous path, etc. But my guess would be that you missed copying a hidden system directory. In any event, try again or reinstall the apps.
.
Thanks for the response @fffft , i already formatted the old sd card and gave it to a buddy that has an s4 and had memory issues, with his kids installing every game they can find. Lol. I see a hidden folder that contains about 1.86 gb of data that looks like the files that i am missing, it seems that it was just copied to a different place on the new sd card, im trying to place it correctly, but if it doesn't work then i will just reinstall.
Thanks again.
