Hello guys. It's been awhile since I've visited this site. (had a X1 last summer)
Anywho, my iphone was stolen recently and I have been thinking about going back to my SE roots and getting a X10.
The most important thing I need to know is if the X10 is capable of texting in Japanese on the AT&T network. My mother has an iphone and only knows how to speak/text in Japanese. If the X10 is not capable of texting in Japanese I will go back to an iphone.
Thanks!
Scott
I think it is possible, although I do not understand japanese... I have a stock japanese keyboard installed when I flashed my x10a to 026 firmware and I still have yet to find a way to delete it lol.

My question is its not a 3G phone and I have AT&T here in the states. Will flashing a new ROM add 3G capabilities or is that a hardware issue?
Also can Technologists kernel be added to a stock Hero? Or do I need a custom rom?
Believe it or not, I am not new, played with HTC touch for 1 year and love xda. But still need my hand held for android yet..
I believe the problem is that the GSM here in the states uses a different radio frequency that the hardware isn't capable of switching to...that the rest of the world uses. You might want to confirm what bands China uses compared to EU and US GSM but I know the EU ones don't have full 3G here due to that issue.
yeah the Telus Hero in Canada works on AT&T's 3g but not the EU one.
Ok, well it came today and, well I now have a Tiger WG3 clone in my hands. I will send it back, but wondering how could I check the OS on it? The browsing I did has suggested its android based?
Is there something like TKE explore that will allow me to see the internals??
If this is what you've got, you've been had.
This isn't a Hero, and never will be a Hero. It doesn't/won't run Android.
Sorry!
Dave
Dave,
That looks like it for sure. Did you have one to play around with? I will send it back, but want to explore the insides abit if I can find a program to work with it.
Thanks for the reply.
No, I didn't buy one of those, but I did buy an iPhone mini "clone" because I wanted to try out the "dual sim" side of the phone. Unfortunately, it was a steam pile of dingos kidneys, and judging by the UI of the "Tiger WG3", it comes from the same family!
Hope you get your money back!
Dave
Thank god i found this post - i was about to get a tiger gw3 due to it being a dual sim phone and a hero look alike, so its true - those phones just has a pile of dingos kidneys inside.
thank you
HTC Hero Clone Running WinMo 6.5 Won't Detect SIM
Erased and put in the Q & A section instead. Sorry for putting it in the wrong place.
is that really a FM Aerial on the top of the phone?
I think you can buy HTC Hero G3 Android from china sourcinggate.com/htc-hero-g3-android-wifi-quadband-gps-smart-mobile-phone-white-p-12548.html

Hello everyone,
It's been awhile since I was last here on the forum. I would appreciate it if anyone could help me out. I purchased a Sprint Touch Pro a year ago and was able to successfully convert it over to Verizon (loved the extra RAM). But I've moved on to another phone (and provider) and was looking to reset the phone to its original Sprint condition to sell on eBay.
So the question is this... what is the easiest way to convert my phone back to its original Sprint radio and firmware? I can't lie, I've forgotten most of what I did when I originally converted the phone. The only thing I see on the Sprint website is a link to the HTC website which gives you a maintenance release to the existing software. I'm guessing that's a no-go as I don't have the original firmware on the Touch Pro. I did some searching on the forum and wasn't coming up with much. I know this has been done before, but I guess I'm not pulling the correct terms.
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Simply unlock it and flash back the Sprint stock rom. Tutorial on my signature.
I had given up on trying to do the same thing with my old touch pro when I read that I'd need some original keys that I had never written down. Is that not necessary? I'd hate to re-sell it to someone who would have to jump through special hoops to get it activated on sprint.
A little help... possibly?

Ive never had to flash to another carrier, however, I believe that the #'s you are speaking of will be updated with the Radio... Soooooo.... Unlock the phone via the unlocker, then flash the stock sprint rom (which you should find in the stickies) and the rom should flash the radio, if you prefer, you can then go in and flash your radio also.
Hope this helps.
OK so I'm getting bored of my X10i as there is pretty much nothing you can do with it and I'm probaby going to go back to a winmo based phone.
I've had many x1s and loved that phone however I want something new, I've also have the Touch Pro2 and while it was brilliant I found the camera rubbish and it was just too 'thick'.
I've decided to go for the HD2 (I think after the x10 I wont notice a massive size increase, except screen obviously) however I'm stuck between getting a 2nd hand one which was on T-Mobile or Orange (UK for both).
The 'physical' branding on the T-mobile handsets seam less obtrusive so I think I'll go for that. My question is does anyone see a problem in getting an (UK) T-mobile branded HD2, debranding it and flashing costume ROMS & chaning the radio? I'll be using it on Vodafone (UK).
Thanks for the help, hope to be visiting this part of the forums more over the next few months.
you should have no problems at all with either, the phones are identical. might have to pay fifteen quid to get it unlockedbut that's it.
sam is the expert so no worries on that score. But i would advise caution on buying a second hand hd2. Just make sure the phone has no issues due to heat problems.
I know quite alot of hd2's switch off when they overheat and this results in normally needing a new motherboard etc. so make sure you test the phone before you buy it.
Good luck and i am sure you will luv your new phone.
Brilliant guys, thanks for the advise. Unfortunately I can't text the phone as I'm buying from CEX (I have vouchers to use plus I'm getting aboutn £200 in vouchers for my x10).
If the worst happens I have 12 months warranty or I'll just send it to HTC to get fixed... hopefully...

Ahhh i see. in that case mate i am sure it will be fine. It really is a great phone. Perhaps you should check out an energy rom?
Enjoy the phone!
I actually used the Engery ROMS on my X1 so I think it will be good to get back to it!
Thanks again guys!
I got mine from cex and it was on o2. Get a grade a stock as this is like new. Mine had the seal on everything even the phone hadn't been used on the network.then I went to the link on the o2 websiye and they give you the unlock code for free.

Hi people, I am looking for some X10 mini pro's to buy, but I mostly get people selling them in Spain, locked to Vodafone Spain.
I have seen some people advertise in the UK saying that they will provide a CD with the instructions to unlock your SE X10 mini pro for free.
Is this possible, or are they just trying to fool you into buying their phone?
In this time not possible to unlock mini for free, only via buy codes. Instruction on CD is scam, i can imagine it, on cd is readme.txt that contains "go to this web and buy codes"
If you buy them locked, budget in €25 or a little bit less to unlock them. So you'll have to knock the sellers down a bit
I just unlocked my (Vodafone Spain!) X10 mini pro via a web-based unlocker, worked fine.
Thanks for the information. After I get one for my wife, I will PM you if you don't mind about the syte you have used for buying the code. The cheapes one I have seen was 29€ and normally they go for 37€ on ebay.
I actually came across this site http://www.liberaporimei.eu/liberaporimei/c12839/liberar-sonyericsson.html on xda-developers. €22.35 to unlock a Spanish Vodafone X10 mini pro.
They do what it says on the tin They say they will email you a code up to 4 days after paymentis received, and it was exactly 4 days.
I went through the website, somehow I managed to place an order without giving any details or payment - got an email immediately from their admin about that. By which time I had placed an order with full details & payment, so no problem.
Anyway, in short, code & instructions worked fine.
Thanks for the information. That is the same way I have unlocked my HTC HD2 Spanish Vodafone, now that I think about it, I am buying lots of things from Spain hehe.
But the HD2 unlock was a bit cheaper, even thought it must surely be because I only bought it 6 months ago.
Thanks once again, and as soon as I buy the phone I will let you guys know how it went.
Hi Paul,
I want to unlock my phone as well, but I have a little question: if you unlock your phone, does the app update (SEU) recognize it as a free one and install the free firmware (without the crap movistar) or is it impossible?
Thanks !!!

I don't know the answer to that. I network unlocked the phone, removed a whole lot of Vodafone crap, and ran the app update. the Vodafone stuff didn't come back. Actually, I ran the update without the SIM card in via PC companion, so it was network-neutral.
So if you ran the app update and the crappy stuff of vodafone never came again... THAT'S GREAT !!!
I'm going to unlock it... I'll answer soon
More to the point, I think you can remove the operator-specific stuff independently of the network unlock.
That is, by rooting and CAREFULLY taking out the operator specific apps (there is a thread that describes that here.
Not sure exactly what the link is to the firmware update - and how to update via PC companion without a SIM...
Would be interesting to hear other experiences, though the real test will be when(ever) 2.1 appears. The minor update within 1.6 may not trigger a great deal.
All the same, stripping out the operator specific stuff is not that difficult or time-consuming
Really it isn't for the carrier stuff, it's cuz I like a clean software without intermediates... and for the newest updates too, I think 2.1 will be available for unlocked ones firstly
I used root manager to clean the movistar stuff (about 10 apps and games)
I would be careful about the free solutions out there. Even updating stuff before unlocking your phone.
For Samsung i9000 if you do a firmware upgrade (unofficial or official) and try a free unlock tool on it, it can permanently corrupt the NVM (section responsible for unlock) of the phone.
Original unlock codes will not work and it is not easy to fix.
I have used the liberaporimei.eu, but after 4 days I still have no unlock code. I think I will get one, but was not expecting it to take such a long time.
I think 22€ was a fare price for it. Lets hope it works .
I got my S2 a few weeks ago and I love it... brilliant phone... This question however has nothing to do with my S2, it's about an old Blackberry 8310 that I have lying around here... It still works fine... I got it in Canada on 'Rogers'. However I was only in Canada for work and I live in South Africa, where the three major Carriers are Vodacom(owned by Vodafone), MTN and Cell C. I have tried a SIM from all three carriers and their not working, unsurprisingly... I would like to debrand the Blackberry, is this possible? I know this is a Android forum and all but this is the only place I can think of where I might get a good answer...
Is it possible to take off the software loaded by Rogers and then put the original unbranded software on the phone, like we do with our Android devices... I've no use for the phone now but if I can get it working at all I'd like to...
I'm not so sure many people here have ever owned a BlackBerry., but have you tried to take your phone to a shop where they can unlock it? Usually de-branding your phone will not unlock it.
Also, this thread is bound to be moved or locked as it is not SGS2 related. You will have better luck in a BlackBerry specific forum (use google).
i really dun understand how can this page be a good place to get the answer for you. imagine i go to iphone forum or whatever and ask them questions about android. make any sense? -_-"
even if software does help, i really dun think any of the dev here will make that specific software to fix your issues since writing a software is not really just "writing it". and you should know s2 and blackberry are totally 2 different thing.
here is my solution for you:
- go to any blackberry service center and talk to them about your issue (voila, easy!)
- or you can google the solution (suggest by xethor)
- or you can just use your s2! (even sounds better)
- or just put it back on your shelf (why bother about blackberry when u got the best device ever??? )
- last but not least, just sell it and buy another android phone! (android rules!)
cheers!
Crackberry is where you need to be at, check their forums.
I had a berry before and used to load up custom firmware and it worked. But not sure on debranding them though as I had a sim free.
