looking for Build.prop file to debrand back to my original nordic FW Generic.
using uk generic atm.
so is there a collection some where i can find this?
which file do you use to debranded? can you share it? I would like to try this method on my phone.
by the way I also use this code, how did you made it?
Code:
adb push build.prop /sdcard/build.prop
adb shell
su
busybox cp /system/build.prop /sdcard/build.prop.old
rm /system/build.prop
busybox cp /sdcard/build.prop /system/
chmod 644 build.prop
I haven't used Build.prop to debrand before, used SUSE.
But it doesn't work any more, but i heard ppl saying i could use Build.prop to do so.
so looking for the Build.prop for nordic generic.

Will editing the build.prop to nordic generic make the phone flash on sunday?
EDIT:
i have a generic - global rom, and also my values allready look like this:
ro.semc.version.fs=1227-4607
so i should be good i guess?
I have a generic global, but the phone software is 1227-4612, and file system version is 1227-4607, is the same in the generic nordic?, that is the question.

???????????????????????????????????, that is the question, if software phone and files software is the same of generic nordic, the update will have to arrive at the same time
Not going to work
SEUS and OTA will read manufacturing data such as IMEI and be able to detect any spoofing. If you want 2.1 on your X10 and you want it before your carrier or regional version is released you'll have to rely upon XDA to find a way to bypass SE's new encryption on both the bootloader and ROM. They've stepped up to ensure that no retail device will get a version it's not intended to get through SEUS and OTA. In the future as other updates roll out and you have a ROM not intended for your hardware kit you'll realize one of two things - a bricked phone or that you've been patched back to your carriers branded ROM. SE doesn't care for the development community and they're not going to let us own their devices like we have Moto, HTC, etc...
Get you give your sources for that please? I find it hard to believe, as they've never ever done this in the past.
dont feed the troll

I'm currently running 2.1 Nordic on X10 mini pro. When my country's (SG) version 2.1 is out, is it possible to just change the build.prop in current Nordic version to SG and re-flash via SEUS?
Is there any other thing i should be aware of before i try that?
Thanx in advance.
I tried for the purpose of test to flash Russian 2.1 over Nordic 2.1. It didn´t work.

****, because that's what i wanted to do when the german 2.1 is out. so, if that isn't possible, what do we do then?
edit: i read so much stuff on here the last days, what i'm going to try is de/reinstall SEUS after that, at least move or rename the /db/ folder.
You can flash back to 1.6, root, change build.prop and update again via seus.

I stand corrected. you can´t downgrade to 1.6, but can switch to another version of 2.1 via editing build.prop
It is a good idea to reinstall seus, and delete all directories of Sony Ericssson before making any drastic changes.

vlissine, can u list down which country version u're able to change to? Cuz i tried a few SG version but was unsuccessful.
Yeh u can just delete the settings db and temp folders instead of reinstalling seus I think. Something like that anyway, don't remember the exact folders
Sent from my U20i using XDA App
For 1.6, all we need to do was change the country/product in build.prop and just update via seus. So i'm assuming the same applies to 2.1 as well, unless I'm wrong.
PS: U can't downgrade to 1.6 via SEUS but u can flash to 1.6 via flashtool.
Apparently when you tell PC Companion to Repair, it will obey whatever is in build.prop regardless of the current firmware, thus allowing you to shuttle between different 2.1 firmwares.
Allegedly, anyway. I haven't test this myself.
i just put báck the original build.prop and my phone went into infinite boot loop ????????????/ so weird. any body can help me...
try to reinstall using seus. if not reload everything using flashtool.
Hello, I have an X10 I got from 3 in Australia, it is unlocked and I now use the Optus Network on prepay. The phone uses the Android 1.6 software but from what I understand there is a 2.1 or 2.2 update available.
I'm quite keen to first debrand the 3 phone as I find that I can't use any of the Android features with this network like Maps, YouTube Gmail etc from the icons as they just get a network error. I can manually browse the internet but not use the icons. I can use it when I use 3 network. I took it to Optus but they said it's because it has the 3 branding that they can't help me and I need to debrand it or contact SE.
So I would like to debrand the phone and then update it to the latest software but I'm not sure where to start. I'm not a developer so I need a simple and easy to follow tutorial if there is one.
Start by reading this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=825675
Get the flash tool from here and flash your phone
Also suggest rooting your phone, which you can find here
You'll find plenty of resources. If you need more help search the forum and you'll find plenty of answers. Don't worry, you don't need an engineering degree for this. Just follow the instructions.
Good luck.
thanks but the first 2 links go to similar page and they post say this in the first few lines:

Which means you can't flash 1.6 FW with it. Read the thread again as that will debrand and update you at the same time.

Same guy this is just about the flasher. Also, in that thread is the link to non-GUI version, some people find it easier to use.
The original flash tool only had 2.1 Nordic (X10i), 1st released and was described from that point of view.
Now there are ROMs for X10i, X10a, most 2.1 generic, some 1.6. The original descriptions have not been fully updated to reflect all.

hey man, its really quite easy. where in aussie are ya? if you are in newy, i'd be happy to help out
otherwise, back everything up that you want to keep (mostly contacts and pics). If you download z4root and titanium backup you can backup any apps that you have installed/bought also!
use the Binary flash tool to install 2.1 over the top of your 1.6 - it does not matter what version you have using Binarys installer - it just works
Then once 2.1 is installed and up and running, then you setup the market and download z4root (click the app to root your phone), titanium backup (to remove any crappy apps u dont want + schedule backups of the ones that u wanna keep).
Hope that all makes sense
is there a way to trick Pc Companion to get the latest update even if it isn't avaible in my country yet?

If your service provider doesn't deliver it, Im afraid you won't get it that easily...
I was stuck in .504 ROM and neither SEUS nor PC Companion offered any update, they kept telling me my phone already had the newest software.
Just go ahead an flash. Im damn happy 'cause Im running .435 Generic global ROM now, with dualtouch working, all features at 100% and all the other improvements

Root explorer, google it. you first need to root your phone
Me too, am looking to get the latest software for my X10 ..
Does anybody have a list of areas each code represents i.e 1234-8465 which area does this refer to ?
Also I have rooted my phone, and downloaded root explorer, located the file default.prop I can see the areas that i need to change within this file. But i keep getting read-only...
no matter what i do its always read-only.. what am i doing wrong? I have root access..

Supposedly there is a new update that includes a new launcher (which will function in LandScape properly for the Play), a new video recorder with stereo recording, and an xLoud service which will amp the volume if you are playing something over the built-in speakers. It is rolling out for the Arc and the Play supposedly. http://bit.ly/piNNOr
I certainly don't have it as I'm on Verizon in the US, and we don't get anything till months to years later. (Even then, its crippled and loaded with bloat)

im kinda hanging out to test this xloud thing, is their any information about on when sony is expecting to make this available on generic firmware? se facebook etc etc. also has their been any indication from sony if a custom camera app(+720p) recording will actually be released, or are we all just hoping for one?
the current changes sound like a step in the right direction most of these have been small niggles with me at some stage.

TA is modified after flash, it's the way it works. If you flash R800i FW, and UK FW is that, then phone will become R800i, and TA will say the same. But this is based on info in build.prop (in SE terms - phone customization file) which is parsed by CDAInfoAccessor and other apks in /system/app and written to TA, so even if you have R800a baseband, it'll still say R800i and SEUS will update your phone with R800i flash files.
thanks, i thought it could be a combination of the above but the way its worded made me think that at least some portion of the ta may have been flashed as well. Can i just go through my build.prop and change everything back to r800a, ive dabbled in the build prop somewhat on my old phone, if thats all thats required it should be fairly simple. unfortunately i didnt do a ta backup of the telstra stock firmware so im **** out of luck there.
We should get the new update next week!

Raph, I'd like to see a list of codes like '1251-0622'; if we have these, we can trick SEUS into thinking that our phone is from another region than it really is.
i currently use 1251-0622 because there's a .58 version for it, but I'd like to have the official 'generic' Belgian version (as opposed to the Mobistar branded version I had).
Also, if you could tell me where you find these images, I could compile a list (see my topic here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1382018) to help other people do the same (there was already a guy from latin america who wanted a code for his region)
Also, I checked wotanserver.com, but it only shows that 'Generic Trade Belgium' is available, but not what the CDA code is...
So I'd be very happy if you could enlighten me as to how you find these images, 'cause that would (possibly) allow us to compile a list of CDA codes
You can see your CDA:
/system/build.prop
in this line:
ro.product.name

for .ftf I use flashtool and files from blob_fs folder (SEUS)
