Do you have remove HSPL?
normally with stock ROM 3.14 you will have SPL 3.03

HSPL is still installed. I updated the ROM via RUU.
Would this make a difference ??

Yes sir using HSPL in combination with stock ROM 3.13 isn't recommended. It cause lots of problems, low program memory is one of the problems.

Ok. I'm a bit of a newbie so
1. I can't seem to find the version of HSPL i installed
2. How do I uninstall it
3. Would I be better just going for one of the recent cooked ROMs
Cheers for you help

Ok So I found the version of installed HSPL SPL-1.42.HSPL

- Remove HSPL with HSPL2_RUN.exe
- reinstall stock ROM 3.14

I have a copy of HSPL2_RUN.exe but is states the only way to uninstall is to create and img and place on the SD card and reboot(using hold down volume and reset).
How can I create a nbh from a stock rom...
Sorry as I said a complete newbie.
How do I uninstall the HSPL

Resolved.

Sir like mentioned before, the latest stock ROM 3.14 isn't compatible with HSPL.
If you used HSPL in combination with stock ROM 3.14 you will get +/-50MB of free program memory (your situation)
So what you need to do is remove HSPL.
- Remove HSPL with HSPL2_RUN.exe
- reinstall stock ROM 3.14
PS; just a little question before you go install the new stock ROM 3.14, do you have a branded device?

Yes my phone is locked to Telstra Australia, so removing HSPL could brick my phone yes?

Telstra ROM didn't received a 3.14 ROM update.
you need to use the GoldCard technique to be able to install the 3.14 stock ROM over Telstra ROM without HSPL.

hi my leo also showing total memory 208.81 mb I had hspl and installed 3.14 stock rom via RUU. then install 3.14 again from sd card to overwrite with stock spl which was 3.03 and also showed total memory 208.81 mb. so I downgraded the spl by installing 1.66 stock rom froim sd card. still the same 208.81 mb in total.
what do I need to do to free up the memory?
I'm currently on spl 1.42 and 1.66 stock rom
my leo is a prototype unit with only 320 mb of ram

you can't, 320 is as good as it gets with a pro 3.

that's a pain.
maybe there is a custom rom out there that gives a bit more of free ram?
I've got about 58 mb of free ram availible on stock 1.66 with sense running.
that's quite low probably rest of the mory is been waisted by GPU.

I have only 336.77 mb of total ram memory
Hello!
I have installed previous stock ROM 1.66
Hspl 1.66.0000
and rom 3.14
Now i have 336.77 mb of total ram memory
I want to know how i can increase the ram to 454?

448 hardware total, minus 128 for graphics chipset leaves 336 total available.
You were probably on a custom rom before which unlocked the hidden 128. you cannot have stock rom and the unlocked memory at teh same time.

Ext Rom

Is it necesary to update the phone with ext rom also?? Coz i read on the faq that the ext rom has preinstalled programs and i want a fresh new windows that will run smooth not a slow one with all kind of programs. Ive seen some roms that don't come with ext rom so thats why i ask this.
you can always unlock and unhide
the extented rom and remove all cab files you dont want
and hardreset
Ok i sorted it out but i have another dilemma: first i had wm5 with 128ram, then downgraded to wm3 where all the settings were fresh. After wm3 i updated to wm5 with 96 rom but i had the settings and themes from my old wm5 with 128 rom. I repeated the process and it still does the same. How can i get rid of the settings and get a fresh clean start???

[Q]Getting App2SD working on rooted but non-custom Hero (sd-card partitionated)

Hello there
I'm reading here around the whole time about the things about rooting, custom roms and stuff. Since i've come yesterday to the Problem that
i've installed to much Applications and now have an 8 GB microSD Class 6 i wanted to put my Applications with App2SD onto my SD-Card.
As you might fear i want to ask how it will work, i've only found on the cdma-hero Section an how-to but since i have a gsm-hero i do not
want to brick it
Here are some Information about my Hero:
Firmware: 1.5
Baseband-Version: 63.18.55.06EU_6.35.06.18
Kernel: 2.6.27-mck-teknologist-1.91 [email protected]
Build-Number: 2.73.405.5 146733 CL#61267 release-keys
Software-V: 1.0.0.A6288
i've already partitionated (is this the right spelling? Oo) my sd-Card with the RA-hero-1.5.3.1 Recovery IMG with the following Options:
swap: 512 MB
ext2: 512 MB
fat32 the rest of my 8 GB
After moving the apps and dalvik cache to sd i saw that i didn't had any applications so i have pulled out my nandroid backup which i made
before and now i have them back. And after that i've updated my RA-Hero REcovery Image to 1.6.2.
So how do i get App2SD working without installing a custom Rom?
Best Regards
Seelbreaker
Can I ask why you do not want to use a custom ROM?
What I suggest is you use MCR 3.2 using the link in my signature. Its very close to a stock ROM with a few tweaks for speed and stability.
And seeing that you already have the Amon Ra recovery it wont be difficult or time consuming.
Look up Titanium backup if you dont know what it is, use it to back up your apps and stuff to transfer onto MCR.
Found this... [Android] Apps2SD version 2.5... by doing a quick search, I think you would be able to put that on a pre-rooted stock ROM. You can get them from MoDaCo's Stock ROMs + radios in update.zip format for GSM Hero
Have a look around XDA for that APPS2SD application as you have to register at that other place for it.
Thank you ddotpatel for your response!
Well im just happy with the stock rom which i currently have and so far i didn't had any ambitions to use a custom rom. I've searched here around and found only app2sd in the hero-CDMA section:
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=670087&highlight=app2sd
currently trying to register on the page which gives the app2sd but the registration hates trash-mails -.-
I'm not sure but if I remember well, I had to put 0 MB for the swap

Indeed you are correct, swap should be 0 mb.
That Apps2SD *SHOULD* work on one of the pre-rooted stock ROMs but I cant be sure.
It does say
A2SD will not work on stock HTC Rom as stock roms do not have any method of launching A2SD in the boot image. Try one of the many custom roms available if you want to use A2SD.
but I think if you install one of the stock ROM update.zips through Amon-Ra it should be ok.
I dont really know. Sorry.
well then i have only 1 option waiting till 2.1 is out so that the devs could get the best out of the custom roms

What you should have done, is download Apps2Sd from the market, and after that install the applications. It will save user space and all applications are installed on the SDCard.

i'm curious,
have you noticed any issues with the g-sensor calibration. I am also running the stock desire NAND and have an issue with the g-sensor which i think is causing a delay in the screen rotation.
Thanks

Here is a quick guide from another user (i have pointed his thread)
Root your HD2 Android phone by donwloading z4root.apk.
Download and install ModInstallLocation.
In Superuser app, allow ModInstallLocation app.
In ModInstallLocation app choose location 2 (SD Card) and save
Maybe restart can't remember.
From now on any app you download will AUTOMATICALLY be installed on SD card. Also you can move your existing apps from Phone to SD in the Application settings.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10263940&postcount=1384
If you are using Cyanogen Mod NAND you already have root and options to install to sd and move to sd.
So far i have discovered that z4root works on Stock Desire and then i use move2sd.
here is a link to z4root guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833953
And it is also prefferable not to calibrate the G-sensor or to do so upside down! as stated in many posts.

With installed ADW Launcher EX:
This build is for Viewsonic Viewpad 7. I’ve made this build mainly because I had one big problem with stock one – it was offering little space for my apps. I've used this opportunity to add extra features and remove some annoying ones. Here is the list of changes:
based on latest official stock Viewpad 7 firmware Android 2.2.2
added Darktremor Apps2SD 2.7.5.2 functionality (require that you have extra partition on your SD card for storing your apps; exact procedure to create one is described in installation procedure)
fully deodexed and zipalligned ROM
ROM is rooted (Superuser.apk + su)
installed BusyBox with support for init.d scripts
replaced "Welcome" boot animation with stock android 2.2 animation
installed Gingerbread keyboard
installed Morelocale2 for more languages
modified framework-res.apk and services.jar with Gingerbread look like + % battery
removed Aldiko,RSS, TouchPAL_M20
updated gapps to newest version (Gmail, GoogleQuickSearchBox, Maps, Market, VoiceSearch) & YouTube
modified host file for ad-free
Now you don’t have to worry about decreasing internal storage when you install more application. You don’t also lose access to application when you phone is connected in drive mode to computer, because application data is being hold on ext3 partition on SD card. That partition isn’t mounted when your phone is connected to computer. The things that are redirected to this partition are: /data/app, /data/app-private and /data/dalvik-cache. Firmware should also work with compatible devices such as: Cherry Mobile Superion, Commtiva Linx N700, Olivepad VT-100, Spice MI700, and Camangi FM600 but I don't have these devices, so I cannot verify. As always make a backup before installing any custom firmwares.
Requirements:
installed Clockwork Recovery Partition as described here [TOOL] Viewpad 7 Backup, Root & Recovery
Changelog:
V1.0
initial release
Installation:
Power down your device.
Power on device holding power button and both volume keys simultaneously.
Upon power up you will see the birds logo and 'enter recovery' text in the top left corner of the screen.
Use the volume keys to step through the menu, power to select and back. (there is bug in clockwork when you press volume keys it jumps 2 steps; to jump one step press and hold volume and then press power to select)
Select the "advanced->Partition SD Card" item, next select size for your Apps2SD partition (1024MB recommended), next select 0 as size of swap partition. (Remember that this will delete all data on your SD card, so make backup of SD card if you need !!!)
After the partitioning will be done select the "reboot system now" item.
Using USB cable connection or SD card reader copy CleanViewpad7_signed_v1.0.zip to root folder of SD card.
Power down your device.
Power on device holding power button and both volume keys simultaneously.
Select the "backup and restore->Backup" item to make a backup of the current firmware in case something goes wrong. The backed up ROM should be located in: /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/date&time/
Select the "wipe data/factory reset->Yes – delete all user data” to clear old stuff.
Select the "install zip from sdcard->choose zip from sdcard" item and select CleanViewpad7_signed_v1.0.zip.
After flashing will be done select the "reboot system now" item. First boot may take a few minutes.
Migrate from stock or another build:
Make backup of your phone using Titanium Backup (select all user applications).
Copy all files and folders from SD card to local folder on your computer.
Install Clockwork Recovery Partition, create partition on SD card and install ROM as described in installation guide.
Copy all files and folders from local folder on your computer back to SD card.
Restore applications using Titanium Backup and reboot your phone.

Nice work bro.although it would be better to use the latest a2sd version of darktremor(2.7.5.3)
which supports ext4 partition and data2sd feature.so instead of adding a2sd 2.7.5.2 you can provide a link to the flashable zip of the latest DT-a2sd (http://www.darktremor.info/files/a2sd/dtapps2sd-2.7.5.3-beta04-signed.zip). it works i have tested it.

yes i have it rooted. what i had to do was boot the stock rom boot.img with this rom. working great right now.
I followed the directions in the first post and then downloaded the file from post#2.
Once you have the file from post #2 on your SD card, rename it to update.zip and then boot your device into Clockwork Recovery and select the "update from zip" option. Rebooted and my device now has 167MB of available space on the internal phone storage.
Thanks guys... this is the way the device should have shipped from Viewsonic, and although it aint no Gingerbread, I'm finally happy with my Viewpad after several months if dissapointment.
One thing that I find to be very strange is that it appears that some data is saved somewhere?
Even after I performed the following:
Formatting the SD Card
Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe cache partition
Wipe dalvik cache
Load the new ROM
Did not log into any kind of google account and basically skipped all the setup options.
The device still shows all the wireless hotspot data that I logged into before. Why does it have the password for my WiFi router after all those steps were performed.
If I were to sell the device to someone else, is there any way to be sure ALL data has been cleared from the device?
Cheers!
Great work, good to see another ROM for the Viewpad!!!
Will for sure try it...
A few questions:
You are using the a2sd version of darktremor(2.7.5.3), I personally use Link2SD which also moves all data, cache,... to the 2nd partition of the SD card...
It's actively developed and it's free, so check it out...
Is this ROM with the kernel from tj-style? Then we can overclock to 824Mhz and it gives a nice speed boost...
If then you do not want to use it for your ROM, you can set it to the stock speed with SetCPU...
Thanks,
Nick
Since many people are requesting for TJstyle's oc'd kernel.I modified this ROM to add the kernel and some other stuff.

Worked perfect here! I love the boot animation! This is exactly what i needed! many thanks to everyone here for helping out!
Have installed this rom and the dark tremor update but my phone storage is still decreasing when I install apps. I have set up an ext 4 partition on my sd card.
:'(

i9100 factory reset on its own. Personal files still intact

Out of an unknown reason after I rebooted by Galaxy S II, it just did a factory reset on its own.
So my S2 was bugging about something about the calendar storage crashing and the dialogue box won't stop popping up again and again no matter how many times I press OK. It won't let me do a proper reset as the dialogue box is in the way so I took out the battery and put it back in.
So it was booting as normal (Samsung Galaxy bootscreen, then the Siyah boot animation*, then finally the oval Samsung animation). But instead of my usual lockscreen, it greeted me with a setup screen as if I did a factory reset, even if I didn't do any special commands or gestures or button combos. So after going through the setup, as well as the tutorials, the factory default everything is now set.
But it gets weird. Real weird.
So all of the apps I downloaded are gone (except for the root apps when I did a root on my device*, which is no surprise as these are now embedded in the firmware or something). BUT my files (including the ones NOT on the SD card) are still there, as well as other personal files. Yes, personal files are still in there but the apps and settings are gone. Shouldn't those be wiped out after a factory reset?
So what's not wiped out are my personal files (pictures, videos, docs, etc.), my Contacts--which are saved on the SIM card, and the root apps*.
Ok, now for the technical information
Samsung Galaxy S II i9100 (Int'l Unlocked) 16 GB

This is the guide I used to root my device. I followed it carefully bit by bit.

I simply need an answer how this happen, as well as any knowledgeable set of information. I have scoured the web and I have no concrete answer and I hope the experienced people here can give an answer. This is just so unusual and it never happen to me before.
Also I should also point out I am a noob and this is my first time posting . I have already watched the "You are a noob on xda-developers" video and read the written guide and I hope I followed everything. If I have any mistakes, please inform me I would gladly appreciate it!
Same happened to me few times on stock jb.Didn't found any logical reasons for this.Everything at stock.
Ok... A few things :
1. I'm sorry for your loss of all the apps. I don't know why that happened, although I have seen it happen before. Take the chance to install only the apps you need, and you should find an improvement with battery life and speed.
2. It's normal that all of your photos, videos etc didn't get deleted. A factory reset will reset all the apps and settings, but all data on the internal or external sd card will be intact. The i9100 has an internal sd card partition built in (11.5GB for the 16GB model) whatever is on that won't disappear in a factory reset
Thanks for reading the rules and posting with logical information, it's nice to read for a change
Edit: sorry for not quoting you.. Instead, @MixEcoSystem now you'll get a notification :good:

Now I havr most of my needed applicatoons are now installed, a notification occured. It is alerting me that I only have 200 MB free space of the 2 GB capacity of the system partition. Of coarse I just had a factory reset which should have cleared it in the first place. Before the unknown factory reset, I still had ~700 MB free space. Now I didn't even reinstall everything and it is already warning me. This is just weird.
Is there a way to check this system partition?
UPDATE: Now I can't install other new and large applications like evernote. Error 919 even if it downloaded 100%. Now I'm frustrated I have to go back to the restricted iOS of iPod touch 5th gen until we can fix this

Yes, it's possible to see what's in there, use this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.levelokment.storageanalyser and go preferences - options - and tick both boxes there.
To be honest, it sounds like it's time for a system clean. If you've already flashed siyah kernel, you'll be fine to do it. I actually did it myself yesterday :good: here's a screenshot of my storage after I cleaned it yesterday. I had so much rubbish floating around yesterday. Much better now

In my signature is a link, in that link is a download link to a 3 part firmware. If you flash that via Odin, it will wipe your system partition and then you'll be good to go.
Once that's wiped, then I would re-root (siyah kernel is as good as any to do that), then flash a custom ROM based on a stock ROM, say NeatROM, as long as you want something similar to what you're already on. To flash that ROM, flash the zip file from siyah kernel recovery. NeatROM is a bit lighter than a full stock ROM with some bloat removed, but has a lot more customisation options
Hope that helps

data/lost+found consuming 1.32 GB (75%) is well...found

After using storage analyzer and enabling it to access root, " lost+found " folder inside /data is using 75% of the system partition with the 2nd consumer to be dalvil-cache at only 160 MB. I think this is where all my apps went because of its name. Is this a recoverable thing and I could restore everything like before the reset occurred OR is it just "dump" that can only be safely erased?
Also thanks for the ROM recommendation :good: , but I think I'll stick with TouchWiz since I am kind of a fan of it despite its high memory use I might go for a KitKat build in the future
Note: I had to remove the links cause I haven't reached the 10 post requirement
Neat ROM is touchwiz, its a stock custom rom, its touchwiz minus high memory use, the only way to use stock rom imo.

Hmm. I've never seen that folder before... I really doubt you need it! But maybe try a quick google search before you delete it? If it was me... It would be gone already but then again, I have stuffed a few things up before. Best to be sure what you're doing before, not after you do it
And, as the guy above me said, NeatROM is touchwiz... Just without all the rubbish apps and a lot more customisation. Think of it as stock touchwiz on steroids but yes, I'm on kitkat now. I personally don't like touchwiz. Don't ask for ROM recommendations though, it's against forum rules. I merely suggested NeatROM as a way to get some extra space for your system partition :good:
