I was wondering if i can use unlocked tmobile htc hd2 with the $10 data plan (unlimited) that is available for non smartphones. Will tmobile realize that i am using htc hd2 and upgrade it to smartphone data plan? i am gonna make a contract with a non smartphone and add that 10 dollar data plan to use it on my htc hd2 Do you have to have an Unlocked htc hd2 (not tmobile branded) to do that? is it even possible either way?

Does the android data plan work on the HD2?? Because im thinking of buying a HD2 as a extra phone.
Even though I have TMOUS HD2 version, The data plan worked fine with me on AT&T (if course only on Edge speed since TMOUS HD2 doesn't support AT&T 3g bands)
both WinMo 6.5 and Android custom roms configured themselves accordingly to the new AT&T inserted sim card, and didn't require me to insert any extra APN information at all.
Hi. Does anyone know if the grandfathered TMobile $10 data plan works on the evo 3d gsm not branded by tmo?
Hi all. I have searched and cant find an answer to my specific Q.
I am thinking of getting an unbranded/unlocked SGS2 To use with my ATT sim, which has an unlimited data plan for $10....old grandfathered one.
I am presently using an HTC HD2, which is a smartphone that ATT never sold, therefore the non smartphone data rate.
If I were to buy an unbranded SGS2, would ATT be able, through the registering of the phones IMEI on their network, to change my data plan to the more expensive data plan? I guess the question boils down to, in addition to all the IMEI's that ATT has for the SGS2's that they sell and have a record of, would they also have a record of unbraded IMEI's?
Isn't this the reason there is an AT&T SGS2 because the International one doesn't fully support AT&T? Maybe ask the question in the AT&T SGS2 forums?
Didnt know that there was an ATT forum! Thanks. And, the International SGS2 supports ATTs 3G network on the 850 band. That is why I want one....fully international on 3G...850/900 and 2100.
Found my answer on the ATT thread....I think. Looks like ATT will not know the international SGS2 is a smartphone as they wont have the IMEI's, I think!
Thanks.
It turns out the T-Mobile HTC Flyer is blocked by imei so you can only use Phone/Txt or Data only if you use it on T-Mobile.
I activated a T-mobile sim on Straight Talk for $45 unlimited everything and the T-Mobile branded Htc Flyer works perfect. My data rates have been around 5000+kbps down, 2400+kbps up and strange pings of either 85ish or 600ish.
If anyone takes their 3g international or T-Mobile 4g to Straight Talk be sure to order the Sim card for T-Mobile not AT&T. I understand if you use the AT&T sim you will only get 2g/edge.
AT&T is now offering LTE on their prepaid gophone plans. I have a T-mobile HTC One and wanted to take advantage of this. I got it unlocked, paid my $60 and connected to AT&T just fine, but I'm not getting LTE.
I've searched. I know it used to be the case that you could only get LTE on an AT&T branded phone (maybe also unbranded ones?). I assumed with the new plans they'd let anyone hop on LTE.
Anyone know what to do? Is this one of those "borrow an IMEI" situations?
T mobile uses a different band for their LTE so you would need an ATT branded phone if you wanted to get LTE.
