Nordic 2.1 -> Local 2.1, how to? - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I swapped my Aussie X10i to Nordic, installed 2.1, and then rooted it.
Will it be possible to install the Aussie 2.1 when it comes out?
To do that, should i simply swap my system> default.prop numbers back to original (1234-6150)?

ok, well i just checked in the "system" dir of my rooted 2.1, there is NO default.prop file.
Is there anyway to change my newly Nordic system back?

"How to", REALLY?? - http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=617

i dont know if you read my post, but im not after info on how to get Nordic, i already have set my x10 to Nordic and installed android 2.1.
Im asking if its possible to turn it back to its original location settings.
I went to find the "system > default.prop" file as used in the Nordic tut, but its not present in 2.1.

You might have to flash back to 1.6 to do it, a few people have asked the same thing but no one seems to know where the build prop file is in 2.1.

thanks,
hmm... you would think there would be some warning about that

I did it! Work fine!!!
I change code back using "/system/build.prop", change 3 lines, then repair by PC Comp

Just going through mine with RootExplorer and it's there for me in 2.1 Nordic, so wonder why it isn't for you.

thanhss, thats, ive found the 3 lines in "system>build.prop"
XperiaX10iUser, well thats strange because everyone else who has upgraded to 2.1 no longer has a "system>default.prop" anymore, are you sure you are not looking at the default.prop file in the root?

Yeah, I knew I'd seen something "prop" and was laid in bed last night playing and realised.

Omg i finally found a thread for this i have flashed my 1.6 to 2.1 nordic with the digit method, but now i want to swap from nordic 2.1 to dutch 2.1 i have already root everything i can also see my Build.prop but which lines i have to change because the build.prop look different then 1.6 thanks in advance

XperiaX10iUser, im not sure what you are doing, or talking about - but to clarify, there is nothing out of the ordinary about your screen shots, thats how all of our 2.1's look.
Infinitylindo, that was my opening question in the first post - im still waiting for an answer.
thanhss, said he did it, but i kind of doubt it. He said he swapped the numbers. Look at the screen shots by XperiaX10iUser above. See the lines with "...1234-8465", there are 3 of them. 2 are in the middle, last 1 is in the lower part. I doubt swapping the numbers back to original will work, because if you look at the 2nd one it says ..."2.1-update1..". Im not prepared to try it yet, because i think that could cause major screw ups.
As for what numbers to replace them with, i can only tell you the Australian one is "1234-6150". You should have written yours down.
After that, he said he just plugged in the USB and ran the PC companion update and it took him back to 1.6. Im too scared of making a brick to try this. I havent been able to make/use rom backups yet.

thanks for your fast reply i dont think you can go from nordic 2.1 to 1.6 i think its only possible to swap from nordic 2.1 to dutch andriod 2.1 or other region. i will try it later on i will let you know otherwise if it doenst work i will send my phone repair centrum. to flash back to dutch fw. And about the rootexplorer i have the same build.prop as xperiax10iuser so it only looks different then the build.prop off 1.6. let me know if you have more information. i have the dutch digits i will try now and let you know

That is why I said I'm confused. Is it not just a name change of the same file that is in 1.6? There's a prop file there so why not try that.

i have changed the 3 lines digit to dutch digit i,m only waiting for the dutch andriod 2.1 will be released then i can go from nordic 2.1 to dutch 2.1. i hope it will work

Infinitylindo, insure you have a backup and are safe to go ahead with that - im not advocating it in anyway - infact i doubt it will work.
Now that you have swapped your numbers, what happens when you check for an update? Does the PC companion try to instal 1.6?
XperiaX10iUser, just so we are on the same page:
in 1.6 there are 2 prop files, default.prop and build.prop.
In 2.1 default.prop is gone (in both 1.6 and 2.1 there is a default.prop in root).
Your question/suggestion is that the build.prop in 2.1 has taken the place for both the old default.prop and build.prop (i think thats what you are saying).
Yes the 1234-8465 numbers are in it, and it would be logical to swap them back, the reason i dont give it a go is that i dont know how to do a ROM backup and dont want a $350 brick, hence why i started the thread.

God knows then. Given they've changed some stuff in 2.1 could it just be the root file then you'll need to change. The only way is to try it, but as I'm happy with 2.1 I don't need to go back. Someone has posted on a thread they just used the x10flash.bat to go back, but can't remember which thread it was on.
EDIT: Downgrade from 2.1 to 1.6..

Thanks very much for pulling this out!
Color me stupid, but I can't figure out how to flash this. I've run Chevron as well as the file explorer registry hack. The phone is connected and Zune shows things that are only on the phone. It waits about 30 seconds in "Verifying the information..." before coming back with a 260 connection error.
This is pretty rough. I really wanted to be the one to start posting differences.
Until the OP lets us know from where the ROM came or whether or not it is new, I wouldn't flash or attempt to flash anything. Although he might not be able to tell us where he got it, he can let us know what's in it.

But you're right that it's odd. The file is only 200MB; and the flash utility still talks about ActiveSync. The update utility is 3.27.4.3, which is the same as what was going around for Rhodium.

However, I can't dump the ROM using the normal toolset, so I think it indeed is a Surround ROM. I get my device tomorrow, so I'll check it out. BTW, does anyone know how to get to the bootloader screen on this thing yet in order to see the version?

Start, Settings, about, more info gives you a fair amount, including the bootloader version. I see
Code:
Model:HTC T8788
Software: Windows (R) Phone 7
Total Storage: 14.63 GB
Available Storage: 6.32 GB
OS Version 7.0.7004.0
Firmware revision number 2250.09.10307.502
Hardware revision number 0003
Radio software version 5.51.09.06_22.30.50.09H
Radio hardware version A.26.0.D4
Bootloader 1.3.2250.7(111288)
Chip SOC version: 2.2.5.0
Holding down the volume down gets you to the tri-color screen (I'm ashamed to say that I just tried this) and I get:
Code:
PD26100 SS-BC (4K)
SPL-1.3.22500.7(111288)
MicroP(LED) 0x09
TOUCH C1(v69)
SD SANDISK 15193MB Class0
Partition Info-v211v413
Attaching the USB connects the QualComm CDMA Technologies MSM, which gives me HTC USB Sync as its driver. You have to pop the battery to reboot, which is a pain in the ass on this phone.
I will be Googling the Qualcomm part now.
So, opening the bootloader and then running the RUU will allow me to flash this; but I don't think I want to do it. The update utility doesn't have any actual information:

it simply flash or not flash , even if he wanted to edit wp7 rom's we will notice it (the rom simply won't flash, due to security check ) .
don't forget that we don't have Hspl or goldcard or something that bypass the spl check
so if you want to flash just go for it (at this point in time it is almost impossible to brick your phone with stock rom's, or lose your warranty)
there are allot of people who updated there rom with a new rom posted by Football (on the hd7 threads).

Thanks for the reply, cessheim.
I appreciate all that you're saying--I actually went and looked at his posts and didn't see any people with problems--but I'm a student of Murphy and Murphy says that I'll be the one to be screwed by the whole deal.
When you talk about the security check, when does that happen? When I open the booatloader and connect the USB port, the flash utility was one click away from loading a Rhodium image onto the phone. Is it at that last point where it would stop me?
If the flash is for the correct device, then I'm not worried about bricking my phone. What really stopped me was that it seemed ready to flash a ROM which I knew was wrong. And since nobody even has a dump of a stock ROM yet I'd be back on my Tilt2 until the community worked out things for which I was not sufficiently patient to wait.
I guess now that I'm in my 30s I'm more of a coward.

it will check when you are in the Gray screen with the progress bar (actually flashing ) and normally then it will gif a vendor id error .
but the most important is: way do you want to flash ?
the only difference is the bootloader , Radio and some OEM updates (no wp7 updates).
the way wp7 (and wm6.5 but never used) is build is that it CAN update the "bootloader" , "Radio" , "OEM ****"and everything else that is in the rom , and that by air (or by ZUNE)
so only when your phone is in demo mode ( shop phone from ebay) I would flash it .

How did you learn that those are the only differences? That's what I want to be able to figure out.
Being used to the 6.5 threads with new runs on multiple SYS platforms less than weekly, I had anticipated a new Windows build. Weekly Energy builds has kind of gotten me addicted to flashing, and even a small advance might have a couple of improvements or fixes and I'm chomping at the bit for this thing to become more of an actually-enterprise phone.
Regardless of all that, thanks very much for your insight.

Original Operators Firmwares

Hello, sorry for my long absence. Now I'm updating this thread as I do not have the time to create the firmwares. So the objective of the thread is:
To give simple instructions on how to create your own firmware. I am going to assume that you already know how to:
1. Read and follow instructions.
2. Change extensions of files.
3. Extract files.
4. Use the flashtool.
5. Create a .tft file.
If you answer no to any of this questions, please investigate a little or do not attemp to do this.
Now, the instructions:
1. Go to this website http://www.omnius-server.com/ and register.
2. Now that you have registered and logged in, go to this link http://www.omnius-server.com/downloads?id=58117. You should get this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
3. Now search for the firmware you are looking for in any of the folders. I'm going to choose the folder R1FA016, and the file X10a_CLARO_GT_NAM1_1234_4844.rar. But it is going to work with any.
4. Now download it and create a new folder on the firmware folder of the flashtool and put it on there. Extract it and you should get two .rar files (if not, just change the extension to .rar). Extract them both on the same folder. You should get a lot of .sin files and a .xml file.
5. Now you have to rename some files with a name like this:
5.1. This one: "system_S1-SW-LIVE-AC12-0001-S1-PARTITION-WITH-SPARE.sin" to "system.sin"
5.2. And this one: "userdata_S1-SW-LIVE-AC12-0001-S1-PARTITION-WITH-SPARE.sin" to "userdata.sin"
Now you have a list of files like this: (the files that you have to change the name can vary depending on the firmware but the part you have to delete is going to be te same (_S1-SW-LIVE-AC12-0001-S1-PARTITION-WITH-SPARE), for example, so be sure to take a look to the picture if you are not so sure how a name should be)
6. Now create the .tft bundle and flash it.
7. Enjoy the phone with the firmware you created.
If this was helpful for you click on the THANKS button.
P.S.
I'm not responsible for any damage you do to your phone.
If you are going to take the time to create all the firmwares, give me the appropiate credit .
Sorry for my english if there is any mistake, I speak spanish.
If you have any sugestion you can PM me and I will be happy to help.

If you get this error you have added WRONG device ID. Maybe you have not only ONE in registry. Try finding another one! If that doesn't work, please install SEUS one time, via SEUS put your phone in Flash Mode and the unplug it; that way SEUS will install the drivers and you'll have your DEVICEID, then go to the notepad called "DEVICEID" and put it in there. Try Reflashing again.
Let me know if this help you.

Yes, that is working, but you have to root your phone to acomplish that, and if your phone is rooted, you have lost all waranty both Sony Ericsson and your Operator. And over that, all the custom of your Operator is not going to be on your phone.
Thats why flashing 2 times isn't that hard to gain waranty back.

Look, for the Device ID you should have something like this "5&34B1332A&0&5". I can't answer your question because i have never use adb.
But, to get your Device ID, before coping the firmware files to firmware_1, open it and run the x10flash and conect your x10 in flash mode, and a new file named DeviceID.txt ahould have been created. Open it and you should have your Device ID.
Hope to be Helpful

This is hoe you can get your DeviceID on Windows...
1: press start (or windows icon) and in the run box type "regedit" without the ""
2: click edit>find, and type in "Vid_0fce&Pid_adde". You should find "DeviceInstance". Copy the last section of that, it should look something like "5&2888d0ff&0&1" 2.1: If that fails to see anything, make sure "Match whole string" is un-ticked, and click "find next", if that fails, try "USB\VID_0FCE&PID_ADDE" Note: It changes with every diffrent USB port you use....
I hope this helps to clarify..

Is ROOT something they check for, or a reason they refuse to accept a phone?

I don't see why not but it depends on what type of recycle. If they are destroying it and using it for parts the it won't matter. If they are giving it

How can I (with my Galaxy S1 Vodafone UK):
Remove all personal DATA -(is that just wipe SD and Factory reset)
reflash the correct back to the correct Stock rom (I didn't note the original rom). I checked sam mobile there are a few uk voda FW. will any uk vodafone FW do - or is there a risk of bricking the phone?
also can i remove all traces of rooting (just in case)

If your phone gets reflashed by odin everything is gone
its like formatting your pc and installing a new windows
if you found a uk fw thats vodaphone branded u could flash it
but u could take one without branding too i mean u dont want to sell it back to vodaphone aint you ? sooo i could have bought it in a store without branding

So does any UK FW work on the phone? Are there any limits? I dont want to F it up
Aslo does this remove the rooting and traces of rooting?
Yes it should work
the uk reginal code just means that this rom was developed to be used in the uk
for instance i am living in germany but i have an austrian rom cus the value pack is not supported in germany
but it works like it would be a german rom
however
this should whipe everything on your phone
but for ur internal sd storage search for a program thats formatting it filling it with crap software and deleting afterwards again
this will 1000000% delete all data on external sd storage
Cheers bud
I got a FW from Sam mobile

I have done this many times firstly with a nexus S running cm7 then two SGS2's both running custom roms, never had any problems with selling them to these companies!

[Q] LG Optimus G! The Updating Process?

Hi guys, to all of you who have updated your phone, what was the process? What did the Phone say? Last night, i kept trying, and I got the message, "Connection failed caused by authentication error."
So i went to my Settings > Applications > All > com.lge.omadmclient > Force Stop > Clear Data
Then, Settings > About Phone > Software Update > Check For Update
I kept repeating those steps, until eventually, it started saying "Communication in progress." I let the phone sit all night last night, hoping when i woke, i'd get a notification of a software update. So, Today, after I didnt get a notification, i went to my settings, and checked for a update, now its giving me "Communication in progress." My Wi-Fi In/Out Data lights are flashing like crazy, (As it did last night) but its been 30 minutes, and still no notification.
What should i do next? Does this mean that my phone is downloading the update? How long should it take? What are some of the signs of the update?
Thanks, I'm anxious to get the update!
EDIT:
I forgot to let yall know my phone's software.

Also, does anyone have a download link for the latest LGNPST? I can try to update the phone to the 11c software using LGNPST, then update to 20j using OTA. Has anyone done this? Did it work?
Here is the 11c software:

LGNPST method does work.You have to go to IRC to get LGNPST. First post in this thread explains how to do this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2013067
If you are rooted and have unlocked bootloader you can just flash stock JB ROM posted in this thread. Make sure you flash ROM and new radio posted there.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2067871
If you are completely stock and not rooted, you can call ATT and ask them to push an update. Several people here suggested this worked for them.
I don't know exactly what the "communication in progress" toast message means, but it does not necessarily mean it's downloading the update in the background (it may just be doing a background check). I saw it a couple dozen times while checking for updates that never downloaded. If you're rooted, look in /cache/fota and if you see a file called dlpkgfile and it is growing, then it is downloading the update. If you see one there that is about 18 megs in size and it's from 3/31 or 4/1 or so, it's the 11c download but it didn't actually manage to use it, and I was not able to find a way to actually have it installed, though it should be doable (/sbin/lge_fota seems to be a key there but all it did when I ran it was reboot my phone after a few seconds, so obviously it needed something else).

I've contacted ATT several times, they told me that it isn't possible to push an update, that they can only reset the sim network, and hope the phone will update. I'll try the LGNPST. Thank you!

Your questions have been answered thousands times already.
Just do "Search"
By the way, AVG identifies LGNPST as a Trojan Horse, should I ignore? And I cannot find a Lg-E970 dll file. I have the bin file. Thanks

Actually, I've been searching this forum for the past few days. Most of the questions I asked we're not answered, I seen no answer to how the process works. I seen some post on the LGNPST, but many of the questions we're ignored or they did not go in depth with it, which is what i'm seeking. Some may have been answered, but answered incorrectly. Please don't come on my post hating.
Thanks

Many of us have done this this past week. I chatted with them twice yesterday and neither time did they give me any hassle about pushing the 11c update. In fact the second guy spent about an hour and a half trying to get the update pushed (turned out it was my fault it wasn't working). It's possible not all the reps know about it.
For more info on the LGNPST process check out the thread in one of these forums about running it on windows 8. I have windows 7 but it had enough detail to get me through it.

I updated my phone to the 11c update through LGNPST, then I updated it OTA to 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. It works like a charm. So for all of you guys stuck at "Connection failed caused by authentication error." Just use LGNPST. If you dont know how, PM me.

I have a pretty dumb question re: this process, if you don't mind.
Can I just use the same version of LGNPST that worked for the failsafe restore to stock 10o, or do I need a new version of it from somewhere?

Maybe you think we can just look into a crystal ball and divine what is wrong with your phone and how to fix it? No, we need more information. So, since you can't think what information to provide, I'll ask specific questions. You will need to answer these questions completely and thoroughly. (I hope you will, as you did not answer very much of the questions I posed in my last response.)
So lets start with those:
1. Tell us everything about your phone. How long have you had it? Did you buy it new or are you the second owner? What operating system was it running before you started the process that caused your question? I assume this means what operating system was on the phone when you tried to root? One would assume that since it wasn't rooted, it had been stock? Was it working normally before you tried to root?
2. What exactly did you use to try to root the phone? What method did you use, or specifically what did you flash to achieve root? You didn't get the yellow warning triangle from flashing stock, so it must have occurred when you tried to root.
Let's start with that. If I need more after you answer these, I'll ask.

Am I correct in assuming that after you first tried SuperOneClick, the phone was able to boot normally? I am guessing you were able to boot the phone or you wouldn't know that superuser.apk was installed.
And how did you know that the root didn't work?
I'm not sure exactly what SuperOneClick does, but I don't think it will work with stock 4.0.2.
By the way, since the S4 was released, a lot of people have left the I777 forums so I don't know if you'll find anyone else to help besides myself. I'll try to check on this thread as often as I can, but you may have to wait hours between messages.
Edit: Oh and have you tried to boot into recovery. If not, try it now. Hold down vol- vol+ and pwr continuously for at least two initial boot screens. And if you by some chance can enter recovery, I'll need to know that information.
Alright listen, you're gonna be fine.
You really dodged a bullet as your phone is SOFT BRICKED.
This is easily fixed, the phone I'm typing this with had the same issue.
First, get into download mode and make sure your battery is out, this is often looked over. As long as your battery is out before odining you're fine.
Now using ODIN I'd flash an official ROM from the Samsung site. Get that tar/md5 file and hook it up to PDA. Start the flash.
If it fails flashing try it AGAIN.
If it fails IMMEDIATELY then try a different ROM.

ok guys thank you very much for your time and your patience.
