I updated my Vodafone X10 to 2.1 (2.1 has not been released for my product code yet) and I used global generic.
I noticed that after that I started having problems with signal drops, So I reflashed a few times but still the same.
I'm not saying it's the update for sure, since it could be a problem with my phone, but has anyone experienced this?
PS: I also replaced my sim card, and still have the same problems.

I'm with Optus and not Vodafone but I'm not experiencing anything like this.
im on Optus in Newcastle NSW and signal is good. never drops out but i get the occasional issue sending txt msgs. im on nordic 2.1 still.

I think it might be my phone.
I downgraded back to 1.6, and although i havent had a any dropout yet, while comparing another nokia phone I have, i seem to get lower signal.
That's only in the hours or so since i downgraded.
I'll keep an eye on it, and report, but probably my phone being dead, and nothing related to 2.1
I have the same problems as well, i live in China.
I have singapore verision updated to 2.1, and then i always lose signal, i cannot make any phone call or people are quite difficult to call me.. this happen randomly
I flashed to global 2.1 when it 1st came out and experienced the same signal dropout that your talking about. My data signal kept dropping out and coming back. Got annoying. Eventually flashed to Optus 2.1 and everything is perfect. It's the global firmware, not your phone.
Try change your build.prop codes to the Optus au codes and see if you can use that firmware for Vodafone. Just root and delete all things Optus zoo

I have this problem in Newcastle, too. I've found 'reregistering' my phone on the network fixes it.

I too have just upgraded my X10 to 2.1 Generic. Im with 3 and have had poor signal for about 18 months (since Vodafone bought into 3). Since doing the upgrade, I now have HSDPA connections and the signal strength and quality of calls has greatly improved.
I am a optus user. After i upgraded the firmware to 2.1, my wifi just stops working. When i turn wifi function on, there is wifi logo appearing on the top of the screen and never detects any wifi access point. Anyone knows what is going on? Is that a bug of 2.1? as wifi was working fine with 1.6
IM from south Africa,on Vodacom/vodaphone and have the same issue with connection dropping on data,but found that it seems to be a tower problem or network problem rather than a phone problem,at home i have no issues like this but in far out towns with graham bell old technology in the towers the issue happens alot.
So a few days ago I posted on here about getting my Chinese bought LGP503 working with the android app store. Using the tips I got from people on here I successfully flashed it to the UK LGP500 firmware and presto the store worked great! However, later that day I realized my 3G here in China wasn't working anymore. At first I chalked it up to quake related internet problems we've been having but then I talked to other people whose 3G was working just fine.
So I figured there was something up with my firmware not being compatible with the 3G here. I know that China has some different internet 3G standards from time to time but I've had friends pop a Chinese SIM card into an American Blackberry or other Smart Phone and it work just fine. So following this logic I finally, through no easy process, found and flashed the US T-Mobile firmware. Flashed fine and booted up great but still no 3G. Does anyone have a clue about whats going on with this? I really don't want to flash firmware again if I don't have to and I'm having trouble even finding the Chinese firmware now (the guide doesn't want to work for the Chinese firmware), plus I really like the way the T-Mobile stuff is setup, good apps and all.
I'm on China Mobile in Hubei Provence, China if that helps anyone any!

Try creating a new apn from one of ur friends 3g settings..
Bit of a long shot, is there anybody here using a Hero on the Meteor Ireland network ?
Mine is unlocked and I'm with Vodafone, I've tried an O2 sim and that works fine, a friend was interested in buying the phone, when I tried the sim it recognises the sim but comes up as no service.
I've trawled the net and seen numerous posts on the problem but there seems to be none where it's been resolved, well apart from switching to 2g only.
I was wondering if there is anyone out there that is using one on Meteor, if they could tell me what radio they are using.

Here is a problem.
I have a Samsung Vibrant Galaxy S SGH-T959 from T-Mobile USA and on ECLAIR and I was having issues detecting network in Nigeria. I tried several updates but still got no improvement. However had slight changes with the detecting of Nigerian networks like MTN, GLO & ZAIN after a successful upgrade to firmware version 2.2 (FROYO. UVKBS) but still unable to detect my network ETISALAT. My current Baseband version is (T959UVKB5). Even with the manual network search I still can't detect GSM network.
The phone is unable to detect GSM networks.
Please help out if u have a solution.

Since you're not having this problem with other Nigerian providers you should really be asking this to your current provider, they're the ones most capable of helping you out on this. It's clearly not a hardware nor a software issue.
Have you tried changing your access point name info?
Go to settings-wireless and networks-mobile networks-access point names. Click the file and input this info http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/android/thread?tid=29c82c52aa079431&hl=en. I have to do this for my wifes vibrant on simple mobile here in the US.

i have a UK T-Mobile Motorola Atrix that i received as a gift (MB860; 45.31.2.MB860.T-Mobile.en.GB; android 2.3.4). I live in Morocco where there is no T-mobile. I try to set the phone up to get 3G connection but it never works. it keeps trying to synchronize and changing the signal from normal to 3G to H and so on.
i tried my simcard in other phones and it works and I tried other simcards with 3G in my phone but still the same problem. i called my network technical service and they told me to upgrade the OS. i did it since there was an update available in the t-mobile web to the version mentioned earlier yet the problem persists.
when i see other phones with android there is a option to activate the 3g that i don't have in mine, i think because it's a t-mobile version.
can anyone here give me a hand with this?
