Number of Facebook contacts affect 2.1 performance? - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have almost 2000 facebook contacts and I'm finding that since I upgraded to 2.1 it's super slow. It seems that facial recognition and Sony's local contact is always running and eating up a lot of cpu.
So my question is, does the number of Facebook contacts affect 2.1 performance?

Moxier Contacts to Phonebook?

OK so I got my X10 yesterday and am still suffering slightly from Sense-sbstinence.
Most things seem to work OK but I'm having some difficulties with my phonebook that I hope someone can help me with. I've synchronized our Exchange server with the included Moxier SW and everything seems to have come over to the phone OK. But the phonebook(that I dial from and use in Timescape, I believe) only has a subset of my contcacts in it (also a number of "new" contacts seem tohave come in but that's a secondary problem). Anyone know how the interaction between Moxier and the phonebook works?
Many thanks,
McHan
The plague known as Moxier...
Its the most stupid exchange solution I ever seen. Dosent integrate into calender, og timescape or anything.
It also created new contacts... hundreds of hundreds....
Every mail I have sent to someone, it made them into contacts... Those I want as contacts, I allready have.. But I sendt about 100 mail each day, and 80% of them, I do not want as contacts....
I miss the calendar widgets and all that HTC Sense had to offer on exchange integration.....
(PS! Moxier really created contacts as new exchange contacts.. So, now all my devices have the new contacts, and I have a hell of a job to remove them...)
If anyone have a tip for a better syncronization tool, then moxier, then please let me know. Especially if there is something that integrates with the phones calender...
(Sorry for the semi hijack on your post )
Regarding those contacts that you miss, It seems like if some contacts are saved in other exchange catalouges, or lists, they will not appear...
Moxier will not be in 2.3.3

Facebook sync -> Contacts image quality

When eclair was officially released to X10, I synchronised my contacts with the facebook application. The resulting contact images were of very poor quality. But the images due to timescape were of high quality, as always.
Is there a way to solve this problem?
And previously, I had synchronised my contacts with SonySync & gmail. After the update, it led to redundant phone numbers and email addresses.
Is there a way to sync contacts with Sonysync, gmail, facebook but still see just one phone number under a contact name?

i have a different issue. my contacts images looks normal, but my timescape pictures are ugly.
A very good question worths a deep in investigation to get a balance resolution best fits to both applications, please post your two sets of resolution, saving our time working further the issue out, thanks.

[Q] Calender & Mail Help!!!

Hey Guys
Just joined the android bunch when the wife got me a new Xperia X10 for my b'day/anniversary. Its awesome and i'am loving every bit of it especially the personalization part of it.
However coming from the iPhone I have a few queries and would be great if someone could help me with it. Have searched the forums and haven't really got any useful info of it (mind you i could have terrible searching skill, btw did anyone see my keys??)
I have two mail id's like most people. One is my personal gmail id and the other is my corporate mail id. I have configured them both onto my phone and I'am indeed recieving all mails without a glitch. Unfortunately I don't have an option of sorts to configure my office calendar to sync with the native app. The calendar option does not exist for the second mail option(The option to sync my personal gmail calendar exists and is working fine).
However while using the iphone3g previously I was able to simultaneously use both the calendars (gmail & corporate) and an update on either of the two calendars from my desktop would show on the calendar.
Question1
Is it possible to have a similar system on the android as well. The backend for my corporate mail is provided by gmail and so is the calendar and everything in it. Someone suggested elsewhere that i could share the calendar to my personal mail and i could use it that way. Unfortunately it not enabled for me and the only option for sharing lets my personal account to see if I'm free or engaged at any time. This would be of very limited use to me.
Question 2
Whenever i receive a mail with a calendar invite on the corporate id, the mail appears empty with a small attachment. Using the preview option on the mail app displays text based data that pretty much random stuff overlaid on the meeting name etc(i guess this is the program info or something). Is there anyway if and when i receive an invite i would be able to add them to my calendar or refuse it right-away etc..
These two queries are the biggest of my worries as of now on the otherwise enjoyable experience. I'm terrible sorry for the long post but thought I'd give as much info as possible.
Thanks for your time and help!!
Cheers!!
PS: Some background info, Phone: Xperia X10i, Firmware 2.1-Update1(India), unrooted, baseband 2.1.54. If there is any other app that would help me do the same(Paid or Free), it would be awesome.
Hi there,
I use my phone in a similar way, I have 4 accounts in my gmail app. 3 corporate and 1 personal. If I can remember back to 2.1 (eclair) you can only have 1 gmail account in that app. Then you have to use the mail app for up to 5 more (not sure about moxier mail, I never used it).
Basically what your best doing is rooting the phone to get it up to 2.2 (froyo) that way use have much more control over what sync's from each account. I would recommend tripnraver's froyo. He has a new 1.2.0 coming tonight. You do have to put up with some minor bugs, but the benefits far out weigh the negatives.
A lot also depends on what type of email accounts they are. Either way froyo is way better for your needs.
If you don't wish to dabble with your new present, wait a few months when sony bring out 2.3.4 gingerbread!
I have had a few close shaves, while flashing my phone but approx 10 roms later, I'm pretty sure it's hard to brick it. Worst case restore it back using the sony software.
Hope that helps.

[Q] CM7 with stock Contacts app?

So I just flashed CM7 to my phone. It's kinda awesome. Responsive as all get out, practically zero lag ever, all that good stuff. The only thing I'm having issues with is how the contacts app isn't as flexible with joining facebook contacts with Google contacts as the stock contacts app was, seeing as how a lot of my contacts are listed in one as their real name and the other as a nickname. Is it possible to have the stock contacts app instead of the AOSP one?

[Q] How much battery does Motoblur Social Networking app drain?

I noticed some horrible battery life (about less than 9 hours) on my phone, and suspected that Motoblur had something to do with it. 4G, bt, wifi, and gps were not on the entire day.
I did a quick search and saw people complaining that the Social Networking app can be a battery drainer. Have you guys noticed anything?
I set it to one hour sync for now (instead of the default - push), and we'll see how it goes tomorrow. But if that's the case, do you know if I can remove those accounts completely, but still have Facebook and Twitter account information linked to the contacts with their own apps?
9 hours is honestly ok
You can remove any accounts you want and the phone will function fine. My phone lasts like 12 hours with medium use and 6 and a half with heavy usage.

Not really, i constantly check my battery usage and Social Networking has always stayed low on the list. I also have mine set to 1 hour update increments. I was interested in removing all motoblur parts but was disappointed to find that androids Facebook app does 'not' sync pictures to contacts and such and doesnt contain an option. If there is a way to do this, i'd like to know as well. What you can do if your rooted is allow moto's social networking to tag all of your contacts with pictures, then backup your contacts with Titanium. At that point you can remove you accounts, restore through Titanium and have your pictures on your contacts with your facebook account unlinked. Granted, this obviously wont work for new friends you would acquire.
I would just put up with it till someone releases a rom with stock android if you really dislike motoblur. Hopefully that will happen soon, as that seems to be what most people are wanting.
