Hi guys,
I recently saw happyandy93's posting about being able to flash his X10a phone running X10i firmware back to using X10a firmware. Here's his reply when I asked him how us mere mortals can do fix this as well. I've not tried this yet, but I he says this should work and it worked for him apparently.

yeah np.
if you want to post this in a thread that'b great i don't have tha much time but i'll quickly let you know the steps.
so first thing first head over to this site,
http://www.omnius-server.com/news_omnius_v0_03
make an account for the software and once the software is installed add your account information under "settings > server settings".
now thats the first step, the second is to get the correct firmware in your case it'b this decrypted rom:
http://hotfile.com/dl/43225669/598add6/a_WWE_R1FA014_DEK.zip.html
once that is downloaded extract the phone.zip and the android_xx.zip from that archive into a place where you know you'll find it.
head back into the software, and select identify, than follow the instructions it gives you. once it is identified, boot the phone back up into android. than click flash, choose the two roms:
http://img203.imageshack.us/i/flashy.png/
phone.zip goes into the "application box" and the android_xx.zip goes into the cusomization file.
hope this all works for ya, if you have any problems let me know.

I for one would like to see which method he is using. Ive tried some others with no luck thus far.

search the x10 general forum, the method to do it is in there somewhere. next time please do a search =\
You guys may not know, but the method that was already on the forum did not work, because the files that were provided are outdated now.
This is the new method that works to rebrand your X10 either to X10i or X10a original firmware.
Ya actually there are two previous methods and neither of them work anymore due too, from what i understand, the latest update to SEUS. However the second link for the dowload via hotfile on this method is dead. I get "Error 404". Would appreciate a reupload.

Fixed link. Sorry, I just copied and pasted it.
Thanks pally777. I will be rebranding and then debranding with the correct firmware in the next day or two. This method essentially wipes you phone clean and then reinstalls, rather flashes the generic x10a firmware....right?

That's how I understand it. I've started up the flashing tool and it looks pretty straight forward to use, but I've not done this yet.
There is a risk that it may not work, but then it seems Andy has gotten it to work and it seems the developers doing the rooting are also using this tool.
Xperia x10i firmware?
Hi!
Pls, could you tell me where can i get x10i decrypted rom firmware?
Thanks a lot!
You can download them in this forum in the decryted x10 roms thread.

Thanks so much
Thank you soo much ! I had a X10i @ SO-01B and I can tell you it works flawlessly, you saved me money from going to a store and getting it fixed there !
Glad to hear it works! I will probably do this when the Android 2.1 comes out for our phone... otherwise, no point in me going back to X10a firmware for now.
Anyone who has done this, which files from the unziped Android and Phone zip files do you have to put into the Omnius application? Im assuming the .sin files are important, but what about the xml document file, update file, metadata movie file, and there is a .ta file in there too? Little more specifics before I attempt this please. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Ok it worked for me. After you're done and start up the phone for the first time it takes a while for it to get going there. I was getting a bit nervous (might have peed a little) but then it started up and ill have to admit I was glad to see the "Rogers" branded startup screen. Thanks happyandy and pally777. Most appreciated. Oh, and just get rid of all the panicy PM's I sent you
K. Now that ive successfully rebranded to x10a I get my rogers startup page and everything seems fine with the phone. However i was hoping to debrand again (with the right fw or course) but pc companion stops when trying to install the update service. I get an error. SEUS works fine however. Is it possible to debrand using SEUS instead of pc companion?
Glad to hear that everything works! I might do this when they release X10a Android 2.1, because I'm liking the X10i firmware for battery life. Hopefully, I can still follow this process then to re-brand!
As for debranding, I used SEUS and not PC Companion. If you follow the same method that Lollylost posted, it should work. Just that the folders you'll be putting the files in are found in the SEUS folder instead of the PC Companion folders.
Many thanks. I finally got to work and im happily debranded again with the newest X10a firmware. Thanks again for the help. One question though. When the 2.1 update is released will i be able to update now that i am debranded?

it can be done easily with flash / unbrick tool
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=683793
also you can update to latest R1FB001 firmware
Yes thanks again for getting me off in the right direction Jerpelea. I have successfully flashed R1FB010 to my X10a and it seems to be running fine. had to add the APN settings manually but no problem. Just curious if you have any way of getting R2BA016 (released in China), or have heard of anyone using R2BA020? Some are talking about it on some other forums, although there is some speculation as to whether or not it actually exists. Just curious
http://androidforums.com/all-things-root-x10/87354-r2ba020-out.html
im planning on rebranding my x10 back to x10a. if i use this method will it delete all my info and data? should i back up my data? how do i back up my phone? thanks for the help, greatly appreciated!
im not entirely sure where to find the right way to get 2.1 on my phone, it is a rogers branded x10a with buildnumber R2BA020 , i see a lot of root guides but cant i just use "universal root" like for the htc hero?
Thanks in advance
2.1 is not out yet and bootloaded not cracked yet.

You posted in the wrong forum. This should be posted in Q&A. You probably have the 504 firmware and you are being prompted to update to .24
Oh wow sorry I wasn't paying much aattention to the forum I was in..... so should I do this.... will have to re root or anything afterwards?

Thanks! I appreciate it!

before i do this. ur 100% positive i can root this. because im reading around it says i cant and theres a pre rooted version i can use instead.
what are the benefits of this firmware anyway.
you can flash a prerooted version, also superoneclick or smthn should do the trick now, atleast what ive heared, so i recommend to flash the prerooted one, i think binary has it somewhere
Hi - When .024 first came out SE had patched the exploit, but now there's a version of superoneclick that will root it - i did. it's on here somewhere.. you'll find it if you search..
ive tried it...didnt work for me...so now i feel like im stuck without a root. great !
ima try a few more times i guess.
any other options?
so after one click failed i tried the root that came with the flash tool i used and it worked so im fine now.
How long do you think until we have a way to root without having to flash a pre-rooted ROM... i am waiting to get titanium backup installed i saw wolfbreaks rom after i already upgraded so waiting waiting..
R u a troll?
There has been a root for 2.3 for over a day now.

Just Flash back to 2.1 vis Flashtool, root it, install xrecovery and follow Wolfbreaks instructions to get a working 2.3.3 rooted ROM.
Dude it's already rooted. There are rooted roms available. You should be dreaming lol

I'm still waiting for an updated tool to root this; with 2.1 I've had serious issues with X10i software on my X10a hardware and I'm not wasting my time with X10i this time.
That means when X10a is available, I need to root it. So far, only X10i is available pre-rooted.
I wouldnt of thought it will be too long till one of the devs work it out, im not sure how the pre-rooted ones work, and is a little more faffing around that id like at the moment, plus im quite happy with the bog standard 2.3.3, just want to restore my apps and stuff really
I don't think devs would root it, no point. Pre rooted roms work great.

well not everyone wants a generic rom, or one from another region, some people prefer certain roms, such as their operator roms and for people in the US some of them have problems with the X10i roms, and as such are stuck with the 10a roms or something like that, so thats where the seperate root comes into its own, as people can choose when they want to root.

Look, It's possible to get a stock pre-rooted 2.3 onto our phones so looking for a way to directly root 2.3.3+ is a waist of time for our devices. You won't find any devs trying to root 2.3.3+ unless they are trying to gain root access on a device that can't be downgraded to an older version that there is a known rooting exploit for.

Best of luck finding an exploit!!!
rageagainstthecage doesnt work
psneuter doesnt work
gingerbreak doesnt work
If u are lucky in few months MAY BE a new exploit might be discovered...
As for "operator customizations" u can flash ur regions fw then take a system dump and keep adding operator customized files on the prerooted roms...
P.S.: why is this question thread posted in dev section?

I'm an X10a owner currently running Wolf's X10i ROM. I'm a Roger's customer to boot. There isn't a single thing wrong with running the X10i firmware. Personally I've never ever experienced issues with anything X10i related. Give it a shot! My phone is ridiculously fast and doesn't have a single issue. The battery life alone is worth the jump. I've been on my phone all day reapplying settings/apps/etc and I just now hit under 50% battery. That's over 10 hours of consistent use.

Maybe the problem wasn't his answer, it was your question?
You asked how long it would take for 2.3.3 to be rooted. As he responded, it already is. Looking at the first page in this section of the forums shows that very clearly as there are numerous ROM postings that clearly state "Rooted".
Perhaps a better question would have been "How long do you think until we have a way to root without having to flash a pre-rooted ROM?"

fine i get it i will change my question. then
Hi all,
Sorry if this is the wrong section and has possibly been covered many times before but I am new to this Android stuff and wanted instant answers due to not understanding things covered in posts and threads on the forum.
The phone:
I have a Sony Xperia x10i which was previously on Orange but has now been unlocked. It had Gingerbread 2.3 before but now has been what I assume is "debranded" and is now 2.1 (I dont know what)
The Problem:
I have tried to update via SonyPC companion where it shows "update avaliable" as I go to proceed it fails after clicking the next button (which sometimes comes up hidden in the dialog box)
I want to update the android market app to GooglePlay but due to being stuck on 2.1 it wont allow it unless 2.2 upwards.
Using Google - i typed in the build number which seems to throw back that it is a Greek rom of some kind?
Final note:
I want to keep my phone up to date without destroying the software or installing custom roms, basically keeping it original and simple. I want the latest firmwares etc so that it is all up to date. Also I would like to keep it unlocked without having to shell out to get it unlock again after it has been done once.
Hope someone can help me out. I can answer questions if more info needed.
Many thanks in advance.
(UK using o2 SIM)
I dont know 100% on what to do because im certainly no professional, but in the system phone menu at the bottom does it definatly show Android 2.1?
It says firmware 2.1 -update1 if that means anything?
It needs to mod the build.prop file to set device as global generic one and update with PC companion.
But it requires root first.
Evenit is very strange, almost all of the x10i got 2.3.3 fw.
Or second solution - download 2.3.3 stock fw and flash it via flashtool
Thanks for the reply.
Can you explain a bit better as I dont understand sorry.
Did you mean I have to modify the build somehow?
I thought about the new rom solution but not sure if my device network unlock would still be there after installing new roms. Can someone point me to a simple guide on installing a new rom etc.

You must be sure if what you want first
If you want to install a custom ROM, you will only need to root your device, install recovery and flash whatever ROM you want.
Or you can flash the stock 2.3.3 with Flashtool (thing thats the easiest solution for you) update and decide for custom roms later.
You have X10i rignt? Not X10a yes?
After you will decide what you want will provide further information.

Definately x10i. (what is the difference between the "i" and "a" by the way for interest)
I think i have tried rooting by using superoneclick and it is rooted (any way to double check?)
I appreciate your help a lot with all this..

The X10i is version for europe and parts of asia and so on. X10a is mainly from USA and Canada (other GSM module). Also exists SO-01B which is a Japanese version of X10i.

Everytime someone helps you, hit the "Thanks"button below his post, it will give him more good feelings Its a good habit everywhere here on XDA.
So here we go:
1.) Download the Flashtool form here:
http://androxyde.github.com/Flashtool/
2.) Donwload the generic SE WWE 2.3.3 ROM (here from my older post):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26141346&postcount=13
3.) Once complete - extract the file.ftf form ROM archive and place it in Flashtool directory called "firmwares"
4.) Run Flashtool, select Flash, choose Flash Mode (not fastboot) and then follow the onscreen steps
5.) Hint - maybe you will have problems to get your device into the Flash mode, see my post here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26135308&postcount=4
Enjoy!
Smashing! I will definately give this a go next week as going away so dont want to screw the phone up before go lol. Will report back when Ive cracked it.
