Is it worth it, going from 2.1 Global to 2.1 UK?
I am based in the UK on O2 and wondered what differences there'd be and whether its worth reinstalling all the apps etc...
I would like to do this as well

Apart from the ufea app you mentioned is there any real differences?
I'm still on global, am quite happy with it now everything works. I had to restore factory defaults to get my market and internet and stuff working.

Nothing specific.. other than I've used my phone for 11 hours so far today, from 100% charge.. and I've used it a fair bit for browsing and XDA, bluetooth music playing etc etc.. anyway.. I've still got 70% left.... It seemed pretty good on World Generic.. but wasn't as good as this! Oh and I've got a live wallpaper on too.
I only did it really to bring back the status quo.. back to default position.. but seems better.. and oddly, call volume seems better too.. but might be placebo.. I'll continue to monitor that!
can i have the product code for the global please? got confused with so many codes in the searches and am not sure.

Cool, I think I'll make that tomorows mission then. Did you use 1235-7379 and 1231-8220 as the numbers in system/build.prop?

I used 1235-7379
if you just delete the contents of the DB folder in SEUS first it will work first time.. c.156MB if I remember right.

Ok so I'm kinda stuck, when I'm in root explorer I can access system/build.prop but I cannot seem to edit the text.
Pressing r/w or r/o before I veiw the file does nothing, makes absolutly no difference.
Would you mnd explaining where I'm going wrong please?

Ok just before I start I would like to clarify something before I incidently bugger up my phone....
I got the finger print numbers, I now know how to edit the text within root explorer.
I just want to check that I am going to edit the numbers right and not end up putting the number ro.product.name=x10i and ro.semc.version.cust= the wrong way round, if that makes sence...
How I think is the right way is
ro.product.name=x10i.1235-7379
and after
ro.semc.version.cust=1231-8220
If this could please be confirmed as I don't want to brick my phone by putting the wrong numbers in the wrong box. I know I have the right numbers just which order do they go in?

Ok so ive someone else post about this before just canteen remember if it was on another forums or not.
Ok so earlier today i was messaging someone and i was trying to get out the message screen but my phone was taking too long or i was just impatient but anyway i kept hitting the home button then i hit the back button and all of a sudden i heard a shutter sound. Sooooo i went into my gallery and there it was a seperate folder just for "screenshots" and mind you i do have the shoot me app and the folder for that is "shoot me". Has anyone else ever experienced this? I thought it was so cool that there is/was a built in screenshot but just wish i knew how to do it again i was so excited!!

this happened to me a few days ago, as well. thought it was a hidden TW bionix-v function. I tried a number of different key presses to no avail. somebody has to know what the deal is, right?

I posted this same question in the axura beauty thread. I thought it was a special addition to the axura rom. I found out that its not a rom special but its actually an android feature, only problem I haven't got an actual answer on how to access this feature nor do I know what to look for. I have googled this several times and all I get are results telling me about drocap or shootme and how to use the ddms in order to screenshot without root.

I know for a fact how to do this. I don't think you can force a screenshot with any soft touch keys but you'll notice the screenshot goes off when you're exiting an app/browser and the system freezes up briefly and when you try to hit home on the frozen screen it takes the screenshot. It's happened to me on a few occasions and I distinctly told myself to remember what was happening when the screenshot goes off and turns out it always goes off when my screen is frozen and I hit my home key, while thinking my back button wasn't registered and in fact, was registered and I just got impatient and hit my home button.
I've got a feeling it's a bug log kind of thing. Every post I've seen about it mentions that the phone locked up, and the user pressed buttons rapidly. Sure, we can take Screenshots! You have to have a crashing app to do it though.

Hmmmm it seems like StevenJCarney might be correct. Like he said it seems like it happens when peoples phones lock up & it could be a bug.
Hope it isnt a bug & someone is able to figure it out.
Same exact thing here. It really sucks an app has to crash to use it.

If you have a rooted phone you can just use an app called screenshot which works perfectly. And it's free.

really i didn't know that, i don't really like MIUI ROM but if other devs could somehow implement this into their ROM that would be great,i run Cognition ROM (for Galaxy S2)
try adding this to your build.prop
net.bt.timeout=never
or
net.bt.timeout=
leave after the = sign blank to the second one to leave it nulled e.g never time out

Same behavior here.
I call it the Vlingo Disaster. This S-Voice bs was just as buggy on Epic Touch (sgs2 for Sprint). It's just a buggy piece of crapware.

There was a fix for GB roms for Epic Touch - replace the vlingo.apk (or something like that, don't remember exact name) with a google voice dialer app (name the same as the one being replaced). I wonder if it still works...

@nabbed, how would changing the name of an app before install (which would fail on a lot of apps) help, when the app is installed, svoice will not use that just because it was named what the original app file was named, dosnt work that way.

Sorry, I forgot to add a link, please look again, and read that OP in that thread I linked to.... But like I said, just because you change the name of an app, dosnt mean its called upon by svoice. Now if you unistall vlingo it will use what ever you have installed, no matter what the name of the app is....... Now onto why other apps won't work when the name is changed, well the problem there would be the checks made by the installer to see if anything was messed with, verification checks. That's not true on most google apps, but paid apps, well you may have an issue if you change the name. Just giving some clarification is all.

The link was for an Epic 4G Touch, you're saying it will fix the voice issue on a Galaxy S3?
Yes, because what thats doing is changing your tts settings, these are universal, and not phone specific.

Getting the bubbles back is an easy fix. Using an app like Root Explorer, make your way into System, then the CSC folder. In here, you'll see customer.xml. Rename this file to customer.xml.bak, and restart. Voila, notification bubbles!

I need root? I dont feel comfortable rooting now as Im waiting for the cool things to happen as we jsut ogt unlocked bootloader im just oging to hold off for a month. Is theri any other way without root

I did this, and the bubble showed up, but also the stupid tutorial(or rather instruction tip) always keeps up with it on every bubble alert I have.
how do I keep the bubble notice but not the instrcution on how to use that bubble.. ?

Unfortunately, I'm not having that issue. Are you stock, or using a custom ROM? Maybe try renaming the entire CSC folder, reboot, and see if that works.

Im running beans stock deodexed ROM, maybe it's a ROM issue. Thanks for letting me know it's not happening to you. When I get a chance I'll try again and see what happens. Thanks!

Is there maybe something lines that in Customer.xml to activate the bubble, but allow us to kill the instruction?
Just for the information, I'm running CleanROM 3.5, and I don't get the tutorial notifications. Might just be ROM specific. I don't know what lines in the actual .xml file trigger the notification bubbles, I just know that this method helps to get them back. Sorry, guys!

Definitely ROM specific. I am also on Clean Rom 3.5 and don't get the tutorial pop up, but works great thanks!

It is the existence of Customer.xml itself that hides the bubbles. You can delete the contents of the file and it still doesn't bring back the bubbles. There is probably a settings line that needs to be added to show them.

On a rooted Stock ROM you can freeze the Help 1.0 application inside of TitaniumBackup. After a reboot you will have to go through the three lock screen tips once more but then you should not see them again.

What bubbles what's this look like confirmed working and such?
So I went ahead and did this. I remember this from an older Samsung maybe my gs3 had it or my fascinate. I don't know maybe this used to have it but I like it. What does the use popup note selection do in the lock screen settings its been checked forever but I've never seen anything happen.
Dunno if this has been mentioned or not I rarely have time to read through all the posts sorry. I've been using this ROM about a week and its great, I love it. I've flashed pollutions patch, issue I'm having is when I'm on home screen or lock screen the wallpaper disappears and I get these crazy lines that flash across the screen. It's impossible to take an ss cause every time I try it goes away and the wallpaper reappears. I thought my screen was going funky at first so I reflashed padawan and it didn't happen. Do I need to reflash pollutions? Is this considered the "screen flicker"? Has anyone else had this issue? I've only had my note for about 2 months and between two jobs I don't get much forum surfing in (my lady hates me being on the phone) any help is greatly appreciated!!!

in the build.prop there's multiples of the same item with different values. Just go through and double check everything in your build.prop, I'm not entirely sure what causes it. Bad luck i guess lol. Feel free to PM me with any other questions. Sorry it took so long to answer

I have encountered the exact issue, and it is driving me nuts...Sometimes it would hang as well.
What did you do to the build.prop to fix this?

I read through it top to bottom and removed any conflicting entries. There was only 2-5 not a big deal but enough to tweak out the system. For example, two entries of the same thing but one says "mm.enable.smoothstreaming=true" and the following says "mm.enable.smoothstreaming=false" just remove one or the other. Not saying that's one of them I just grabbed a random entry from my build.prop
