You didn't actually install Macnut, just a 2.2 kernel.
Get into download mode and flash either stock 2.1 or 2.2 with Odin. Hold down the two volume buttons while the phone is off, then plug in the USB - should boot to the digging android.
Next time you flash stuff, make sure you know what the hell you're doing - huge difference between a ROM and a kernel! It's nobody's fault but yours if stuff breaks - and also your responsibility to know how to fix it. This phone is nearly impossible to brick (I would know - I've flashed without disabling Voodoo, I've accidentally lost power while flashing, etc - and I've been able to ODIN back to stock every time), so there's no excuse to not search around and find out how to do it.
Also, reported to mods for wrong forum.

but I can not flash by Odin! because when you connect and select the steps in Odin, it just is: setup connection. although pc has now drives
please help me!

OP - Just take your Vibrant back to T-Mobile, tell them you voided your warranty by rooting your phone and flashed a kernel. Then tell them that you need to exchange it because it keeps rebooting

sorry I did not say whether the problem! You helped me two issues are not!
1. how to connect with Odin completely new installation or restore the status of the manufacturer! because it is the whole connection setup.
2. if not the first, how to copy files to sdcard reintall update.zip on packages (this way do not)
Heavy words you do not talk to me! because I use vibrant donated by my grandfather about 5 months, and I'm also dabbling self sharpening! all the way now and find out all the forums but no one was difficult as my situation, so they need your help

Hopefully you aren't offended by this, but it seems like english is not your primary language. If not, what is? Perhaps there is someone in the community that could help you more easily if they also speak your primary language.

If she flashed a 2.2 kernel on a 2.1 rom then all she got to do is flash a 2.1 kernel via clockwork.

There is a sticky
on the top of this forum section
that has a link to flashing with Odin.
Or I would recommend returning your phone.

I'm going out on a limb here but he did say he's in Vietnam so his primary language might be Vietnamese....? Sorry for the facetious remark
Hmmm he might be using a translation of these pages so I don't know how well babelfish or google is translating this stuff... a lot of technical terms and irregular forms...
Hopefully someone who is fluent in Viet can help this guy out...

As has been suggested in every other thread about bricking this unbrickable phone, use odin, take your phone to eugene's froyo that doesn't brick, when you get the error, pull your battery, go back to the stock rom, select partition, phone will work.
can we get this closed, moved...etc
also, before flashing, read the damned vibrant bible.

Read the stickies if you need help. There is a tutorial if your phone can't get to download mode using the hardware keys. You will need the one on how to with adb. I think there is even a thread in the REF if you semi bricked your phone.
By the way I almost flashed the same file because of the post layout. Just used to files at the bottom of a post.

[Q] Someone please help me. I'm lost.

Ok, so I've tried to do my own research and have come up with very little. It took me about a year to figure out what rooting actually meant and did. So I rooted my SGS vibrant and flashed a bionix rom (i think). It says "bionix shut down sequence initiated" or something like that when I turn it off (any ideas on what it is or how I can find out). I really have no idea what version it is. I also would like to put a new rom on my phone but am scared ill screw it up. I watched a youtube video that told me how to do it the first time I flashed anything. It works with a few random screw ups but KILLS my battery. I would really like for someone who knows more than me to explain what a nandroid backup is and how to do one. What the clockwork rom manager can help me do. What the one click lag fix did. Why my computer won't read the storage things on the phone when connected to the phone anymore. What is this odin thing. What is a kernel. will I still get the ota updates without the stock rom. Where did my stock rom go when I pushed backup before I flashed this rom in the rom manager app. Did I actually wipe all the original data from the phone. Why can't I restore boot animation with one click lag fix(it says somethings not found... Did I wipe/delete it?). What is an apk and sdk(or skd)? What is a voodoo lag fix. How many times can you flash beer something goes wrong. I'm really new to ALL of this and have had no help really when I've asked a lot of people who apparently know more than I. ANY help from ANYONE who knows ANYTHING would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
Almost all of those questions can be answered by reading the Tips and Tricks or Noob Guide threads. Those two threads have given me all the info I've ever needed for the Vibrant.

Theres a lot of questions in there so I'll just bite off a few at first. Before that, have you taken a look at the vibrant bible thread in the dev forum? It covers a lot of the basic ' how tos '.
Firstly, you can possibly see what version of bionix you are running by looking under settings - about phone - build number. now might be a good time for you to odin back to stock and start fresh. Odin is a program that runs on your pc and can safely install a rom on top of any lag fix you may have enabled. You can read about using odin to go back to stock in the vibrant bible thread I mentioned earlier. Once you go back to stock you can receive ota updates from tmo if that's what you want or you can reroot and flash another custom rom. If you choose to flash another rom I would recommend reading every post on that rom's thread so you can learn from other's experiences. I would also recommend you keep reading the bible thread, theres a ton of good info there.
Good luck.

Dude, THAT is why I do those stickies, thank you! So glad it helped man!
That was really helpful, thank you and I will be looking into this more little by little. But I also have 2 very specific questions:
1. Is it possible to turn an htc windows phone into an android phone?
2. will I lose everything if I push the flash clockwork recovery in the rom manager app? I haven't done it yet but everything I've read has told me to do it the first time. I have the bionix rom running and don't remember flashing the clockwork recovery thing EVER. have I messed up or can I just do it whenever? And is it true thats how you make a nandroid backup because thats what I've read.
I really appreciate you taking the time to help me out, and being patient with me. You guys are the reason I love android. Thank you from your very lost, slowly learning, new friend.

Depends on the phone, many do have android roms available. Just look up whatever windows phone you have in the forum section and if there has been some android development there will most likely be a section in the thread devoted just to android development.

Samsung wants me to send them my Vibrant to "reflash" it. Can I do it myself?

Samsung wants me to send them my Vibrant to "reflash" it. Can I do it myself?
Hey all. I've been having a couple of problems with my Vibrant -
1. About once a day, when trying to play an MP3, the phone says that the audio files can't be played because they don't exist. Reseting the phone allows the audio files to be played again.
2. The wifi radio frequently will not turn on properly. When trying to turn it on in the wifi settings menu, the wifi will say "turning on...", and about 30 seconds later it will say "error". After a few tries, it will eventually work.
I called Samsung, and they want me to send it to them to "reflash" it. I'm wondering if this is something I can do myself. I've been reading about all of the flashing of roms you guys do here, but I've never done it. Would using Odin or whatever to reflash to stock be the same thing Samsung is going to do?
Thanks for bearing with a n00b!
Yes to all your questions.
You can do it yourself. It will be the EXACT same procedure Samsung will do (except here you have the option of using ROMs that are MUCH cooler).

Awesome! Thank you! Two quick questions-
1. What's the risk level to this? Would I be running the risk of creating a shiny paper weight if I start flashing?
2. What's your favorite ROM? Any recommendations?
Thanks again!
If you can read and follow simple directions then, it is a no-brainer. 1st read the noob bible it has all the instructions to flash anything you want. Go to Unlockr.com or Youtube type in: --Odin back to stock --- rooting a vibrant--- flashing a custom rom.
Simply put Odin is a program that allows you to restore the original 2.1 JFD rom (stock) from there you would Root the phone> then download Rom manager>download Titanium backup> then backup your phone using it> then download a custom rom and put on you internal sd card > then using Rom manager you would flash it
and you have flashed a custom rom. All this takes les than an hour (more like 30-40 min)
Hope that helps you understand more......cheers
I'm not sure if I should put this in another thread, but as I was following the steps, I hit a wall - Titanium backup is force closing when I'm trying to open it. It will show a message saying that it got root access, then immediately crash. Any troubleshooting hints?
Thanks!

And I think you chose the right ROM! Trigger is the shizznessttt!!! If you don't mind me suggesting though, make sure you charge your phone at 100% before flashing anything. It actually made a difference in my battery life, no bs. I guess there is a difference why the devs write and suggest you are fully charged and not just so it dont die midway through flashing procedures lol. Good luck fam.

New Dell Streak Mini 5 User With ?'s For ROM Help Install?

Which is the best rom to go with?
I've downloaded _n0p_'s DSC v0.7 and Tenorntex's Longhorn 2.1 v2, seeing as these 2 were the newest and latest and had Android 2.3.3
Are there any other better rom's or has anyone tried the 2 I listed, if so whats the difference?
Thanks
Better is very vague when it comes to ROM's it all depends on what you want in a Rom. I have old Simple Streak 1.2. Yes there is newer ROM's out but this one works perfect for what I need. In my Case Stability.
DSC is the most actively developed/supported. Plenty stable for me. I don't think any of the earlier Froyo based ROMs are being developed further.
I meant as far as Stability, Performance and up to date, I don't care about the Stage UI and was gunna theme it myself or use SPB Shell 3D.
Could someone point me in the direction to an easy install rom?
I don't wanna install "these update pkg's" after renaming and then plug my phone into the pc and open cmd and then type this in on the pc. et cetera et cetera
I just wanna download a zip drag it to the card, bootup in safemode and install from sd card.
I'd consider doing all that work if I weren't testing out the device.
I won it off ebay, the guy replaced the screen and said it's been randomly rebooting ever since. But he never did a factory reset or new rom install ever since fixing the screen, so I just wanna simply install a rom and see if it works then go on from there.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately I do not believe that anyone can change the way that the Streak works just so it is more convenient for you or so that you don't have to learn anything.
In the time you took to navigate to XDA and make your post you could have flashed a ROM onto your Streak - plugging it in and everything.
The only ROM you can install by just putting it on the SD Card is the same one that is currently on the Streak, if you don't mind holding down a couple of buttons and using recovery mode.

If anyone is wondering why developers leave and give the site a bad reputation look no further. Someone with over 600 posts under his username should not be making noob posts like this one. With so many posts he knows how to use the search engine and the wiki, but I guess when it comes to our device using the search engine and the wiki is an inconvenience, along with renaming a file "update.pkg".

Some people learn better through interaction where they can actually ask questions... I don't have over 600 posts so who are you talking about? Furthermore if you are talking about first thing I'd do is learn how to read mr wise guy, secondly!! You tell me how one is supposed to learn which rom is the best based on user reviews and opinions, where do I go to find that out and wheres the wiki on that, unless you expect people to read 200 and 300 page threads also? I have barely 150 posts and rarely post at all unless it is to ask questions or make requests. It's not like I have 600 posts and every single one of them are questions.
This is only my second time dealing with android and second time flashing android first time it was simply moving a zip to the sdcard and booting up into safe mode and selecting update through sdcard, so certainly I'd be baffled and have questions when one time it was so easy and the second time I've gotta jump through hoops and everything.
Lastly since WHEN Is asking a Question SOOOO wrong in the Dell Streak 5 Q&A Category???? It's not like I posted it in the wrong area or something, but ohhh no'es how dare n00b be confused and need a lil help/guidance of some experienced users, ohh mercy me the drama in that!!
Last time I checked that is what XDA is here for, for people to learn, not to be attacked by asshat trolls like you.

I hope that you can actually read better than that. The wiki does not say to stay away from fastboot. It clearly states two commands that should not be used on the Streak. It goes onto give a number of examples of using fastboot.
I hope that you other 157 posts (as I wtite this) on XDA were not as tiresome or ill-informed as the ones you have posted here.
The information you need is here in the forums, available at the links in my signature, and on other forums. Please exercise some patience and read the info.

First I'm gunna try factory reset and see if that fixes the random reboot problem, hopefully it does the seller said he just installed the new screen and never did anything except for just trying to powering it up, use normally and it would reboot suddenly.
WELL NO DUH, you need to restore everything back to default settings with a factory/hard reset. Thats like trying to install a video card or webcam and expecting it to work right away without installing the dirvers. - Hopefully!
Well it's only getting as far as the dell logo screen/splash screen. I've tried the entering safe mode but nothing yet, once it's powered on it just sits at that screen.
dsc is great and very stable if you dont mind the few following quirks.
1. google maps will always run in the background unless you freeze it. This will drain your battery quite quickly
2. Wifi might or might not be broken, if it is broken use wifi analyzer if not profit
the benefits of dsc?
fast
running GB instead of froyo
dpi change is awesome.
screen default orientation is awesome
stable other than those few bugs
Battery life was decent.
-------------
Im however just running 2.2 froyo on a stock rogers. The battery life is amazing on stock 2.2 (a whole day, and still have about 30% with heavy usage and constant 3g) and the wifi works fine. For me this is the most stable rom however it is a bit slow compared to DSC. This phone is used for work so it has to just.. work.
---------------
Havent really tried the other roms yet, but depending on what you want out of the phone you can try the DSC and see if you can live with these little quirks.
Yea I was leaning more towards DSC than Longhorn, it looks like it's updated more frequently too.
Bad & Good News
Turns out when the guy replaced the screen he fried the mobo... Me and a friend at a small local pc store tried everything from rooting with new rom to factory resets. Always had the same problem.
But the guy at the pc store sells phones also and said he'd give me $100.00 credit to a new factory refirbed, rooted and unlocked dell streak mini if I gave him the one we tried to repair.

[Q] Root in a newbies eyes.

Hello everybody!
I've been messing around, customizing my new SG S II using launchers, icons etc. But I kinda want to take it to the next level and rooting, going for the MiUi rom (http://en.miui.com/).
I have never rooted any android devices before, only playing with jailbroken iPhones. So I know some people on this forum is going to cut me into pieces now, but I really hope someone out there can help me.
I've searching around, unable to find a "simple" guide that can help me. Anyone got a guide out there? Or can help me out, starting from scratch?
Cheers!
First thing I would say is that you have a much better chance of getting a constructive answer if you've shown you've made an effort by providing as much useful information as possible and show you've done the basic research.
If you want to get root for your phone, the first obvious question is what OS are you currently running ?

Well, considering the guy hardly knows how to root his phone, I would hazard a guess that he would still be on Gingerbread. And your being pretty harsh on him, still trying to follow the video we all are forced to watch before we join XDA?
Now Westerhoff, could you please provide your Phone, PDA and CSC by going to your phone dialler and typing in *#1234#. These are needed for Chainfire's CF-Root, which keeps the phone as close to stock as possible, whilst rooting the phone, and adding busybox and ClockworkMod Recovery, which is a life saver for making back ups of your current ROM incase something goes wrong, and to flash a new ROM to your phone, for example, the new Ice Cream Sandwich leaks.
Chris.

Yes, Zaheedahmed is correct. I'm just curious, how does your phone have ICS on it if you don't really know how to root your phone?
Anyway, you need Odin, which is a flashing tool specifically designed for the SGS2: Just type in "Odin 1.85" without quotations into google and the first result should display "Odin - xdadevelopers - XDA Developers." Click on the link and Odin will download.
Now before going ahead with Odin, download Kies: http://www.samsung.com/us/kies/, which is like iTunes for Samsung Devices, the drivers are needed for Odin, but when the drivers have been installed, right click on your toolbar at the bottom of your desktop, I'll assume your running Windows 7, and going to Task Manager. Now find anything with Kies running in the Task Manager, right click on them and kill them.
Kies gets jealous of Odin for being better so it messes up Odin during the flashing process. So make sure you have the drivers installed from Kies and then killed off the Kies Processes.
Finally, lets get the flashing package required to root your phone. Here is the link to Chainfire's LPQ CF-Root: http://download.chainfire.eu/152/CF-Root/SGS2/CF-Root-SGS2_XX_XEO_LPQ-PROPER-v5.4-CWM5.zip Also make sure you unzip the file to get your .tar file, Odin won't work with .zip files.
Now go ahead and put your phone into download mode. To do this, turn off your phone normally, wait till it is fully off, then hold down the power, home and down volume button until a warning screen is displayed. Then press the up volume button. If the screen says "In download mode. Do not turn off target" then you have got it!
Now fire up Odin when you have installed it, the Kies Air drivers and killed Kies processes off in Task Manager. Now connect your phone to your computer via your micro usb cable. The ID:COM box should go yellow and say ADDED!! in the box at the left hand side. Now make sure that the only options ticked in Option is Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time AND NOT RE-PARTITION. Now click on the PDA button on the right, and this will open your Explorer window up. Find your XXLPQ CF-Root file, and click ok. Then just click Start. In the top left hand corner, one of the boxes will flash blue (I think so) and then Green. The bottom left hand box will say PASSED!! Your phone will automatically reboot.
When it has, go to your app drawer, and check you have something called either "SuperUser" or "SuperSU." If you do, congratulations your rooted. Another way to check it has been successful is to shut down your phone, and hold the home, power and volume up button. If you get into ClockworkMod Recovery, your great!
Post back with any problems (hopefully not), or your success
Chris.
Thanks both. I'm on a business trip right now and I'm back again friday, I will be posting back with the result there.

Chris.
Okay, so I'm back from my little trip, and I've just rooted my phone. Succesfully!
I must say it was great guide that helped me out all the way and I didn't find my self "scared" or in doubt of how it would all turn out, through out the process. Thanks a lot!
Now, I got some more questions..
I want to go the the MiUi rom? How do I do that?
Also, if i ever want to return my mobile back to normale, without Root, what to do?
Thanks again you two ;-)

There are a few MIUI roms. There is the original, some other ones in the development section. Which every rom you decide to get, download it, put it into your sd card, boot into cwm, backup everything (nandroid backup), wipe everything and flash the rom. Usually every thread has some instructions in it, so just make sure to read it.
You can just use Odin to flash the stock rom to get it back to normal.
Now thats easy.
You go to this site and you shoul download this file miuiandroid_SGS2-2.4.6.zip
Then you put this file in you internal SD card of your phone.
Then you go to Recovery, you make a Backup of your old rom.
Then you go to wipe data and you pick yes.
Then do to instal from SD card and you choose install from internal sd card, then you chose the file you just transfered to you sd card ando choose it. Let to process finish, choose reboot and wait a little longer for phone to start and there you go.
Any questions just put in here!
Greatings from portugal!
Okay, so I've done it all and my SG SII is now running MiUi. Thanks alot.
However, most of the apps keeps "crashing" - They stopped working.. Is the ROM really that unstable?
Did you restore apps and/or data rather than clean install them ?
Yea. I have no other apps, than the ones coming with the MiUi rom.

Just restored from my back-up before flashing, and wiped everything, data, dalvik and cache... Stil ain't working...
Could anyone tell me how to remove rooting from my phone, if I don't find a solution.
Flash a stock rom in Odin.

I was thinking that the rom tcunha87 posted, might be damaged... On the official MiUi community i can't seem to find the ROM for SG SII..
NEVERMIND!!! Just found out they are currently only running GB for the SG SII.

[Q] URGENT- galaxys2 bootloop(bricked???)

Hey I recently rooted my Samsung Galaxy S II I9100, at first everything was fine, but i had some trouble installing apps so i used es file manager to install them, it began to work for some apps. anyway, this morning I woke and turned it on and it didn't get past the bootscreen(i left it for about 45 minutes on one occasion, and I tried rebooting many times.
The first thing i did after attempting to boot my device was to flash the kernel again via odin, this did not work(tried twice).
so i did a lot of research over the past 10 hours into my problem and have tried many different things; installing a stock rom, removing battery, pretty much anything on the forums that people said have worked. nothing.
I can get into recovery mode and download mode.
I don't care about my data on my phone, it has already been wiped.
It's still covered by warranty so i can wipe the flash count(?) and send it in for warranty IF I HAVE TO. preferably not however.
although i highly doubt it, I may have been using the wrong rom, and I may have forgotten to reset my phone before one of the re-flash's
So if you havn't figured out my question by now, how do i return my phone to working condition?
Don't get mad at me for making a thread that has probably been made a hundred times, none of the solutions in the other threads fixed my problems, and I was browsing not only xda but other forums for hours, I found that reason enough to post a new thread. Apologies if this is in the wrong section, I am new here, and never found it necessary to create an account until now, when I couldn't find a solution.
Help is appreciated, this problem is really rustling my Jimmies on Christmas day.
because this is such a problem, I will REWARD anyone who presents a working solution that does not involve sending it off for warranty or buying a jig. Sorry if i missed out some information, please request for missing info in a response.
1.forget about warranty and jig....that has nothing to do with your current situation.
2.post the details about your phone and what firmware your on and what crap you were flashing.
Maybe a simple reset/wipe in stock recovery is needed.

originally i was on ics 4.0.3, and i used this tutorial galaxys2root.com/galaxy-s2-root/how-to-root-galaxy-s2-i9100-icsandroid-4-0/ (can't post url link because im a new user) and this kernel by the file name "CF-Root-SGS2_XX_XEO_LPQ-v5.3-CWM5.tar". I then searched for stock roms for it and got "CF-Root-SGS2_XX_OXA_KP8-v5.2-CWM5.tar" and "CF-Root-SGS2_XX_XEO_LPQ-PROPER-v5.4-CWM5.tar"
If you want a stock rom go to Sammobile, join(so you can download).....then input smartphone>android>your phone model>your country/carrier.
Choose whatever 4.0.3 it recommends after you input the above and hit send.
Then flash that with Odin and see what happens.
Then report back here.
I am from Australia and when I searched for roms for the I9100, no Australian roms showed :s
would one from another country work, or would that be locked or...?
Theres 3 listed for starters for the plain gt-i9100.....is that your exact model....or is it p/g/m etc.
This is why I asked for your model.
gt-i9100 is my model that's all it said in my phone information in the settings (before it stuffed up), manual, on start up and in download mode.
sorry, I'm not excellent with my technical android terminology.
false alarm, it just didn't load properly before, I will start a the download (will take like 15 minutes) and report back when i flash it. gt-i9100 is definitely my model.
You just input which one of these 3 applies, hit send, then download.
Then flash it (the extracted file)in download mode with Odin.
so i put the extracted file in the 'PDA' field, put it into download mode, plug it in and start the process?
Yep.
It failed the first 2 tries, I think I have a bad usb cord, but worked the third, might of been what stuffed it up in the first place maybe (?), thank you so much for your help man
Good.Wait til boxing day til you flash siyah-s2.v.4.1.5 kernel for root.......lol.
hehe... yeah... I'm not going to try root again... lol
