Hi,
I couldn't find a thread about this, but I apologise in advance if I missed it.
Since my 2.1 X10 upgrade, the CPU is being guzzled (70-80%) by PID 12968 - namely the Google Quick Search. I've tried everything I can think of. I've even reflashed.
I've tried turning off the search suggestions. I'm stuck - as you can imagine, it's as laggy as hell.
Anyone had this? Any ideas how to fix it?
Thanks for your time.

I've been looking for the answer for quite a while, so I thought I should post the answer that worked for me here...
A lot of people are having trouble with downloading applications from the Android Market. When trying to install an application all that happens is that a message "Starting Download..." is showing but the download never starts. For me a clean Android installation (wiped) didn't help, neither did hard- or soft rebooting, neither did turning off Wifi or clearing the download managers and Android Market cache.
I'm not saying this will work for everyone but the answer was quite simple (and hard to guess) in the end. I simply started the application "Google Talk" and suddenly applications started downloading from the market. I couldn't receive any new (g)mail notifications either anymore and that's fixed too!
Hopefully someone will find this info helpful
Thanks! Was having a lot of problem with the market today. This trick worked immediately.
Logging into GTalk is quite a well known fix, but well done for finding it yourself!

Dave

After discovering it accidentally I found some answers that were pointing in the same direction yes. But there are so many people having this problem, and there are so many different answers that the right answer will still be hard to find.
I had the same problem, google talk didn't help.
I found out that (since it's a non-activated device i will be using for development) I had to disable data roaming and activate only wifi to get it downloading.
After that, everything was working perfectly.
It is on a HTC touch pro (raphael 800)
Hope it can help someone.
I too have the same problem. I tried the GTalk and also the connection settings. Tried hard reset as well as clearing data and cache from the App Manager but to no avail. ): I'm really frustrated and disappointed at Android. They should get things working properly before releasing!
Hey guys, my Hero just started lagging with FroydVillain 16.xx version. First of all I thought this was just too many programs, or something like that, so I decided to wipe my phone and install new CM version. But then I got error for wipine an ext. I was suggested try wipe ext via ADB, but nothing happend neither. So I just installed the ROM anyway.
Everything was working, but after couple days it started lagging again. The most sensible feeling with SMS's. Then I'm opening new SMS from notification's bar, it takes forever to show me the text. The same with conversations list in Message application. There is also a lag while typing (AnySoftKeyboard with Lithuanian Keyboard).
The same happend today after reinstalling FroydVillain 17.2 with new RA_Hero 17 recovery. Installion was made yesterday. Now I have ~100 SMS's, if it has anything in common.
Any ideas, guys?
This is my apps' list: appbrain.com/user/karolism/
Well for me if I don't restart my phone every few days it slows down, are you overclocked? if not it might help, also some applications might not close properly and drain battery and other resources and lastly the Hero was built with old technology when it was new (I read this somewhere a while after I got my phone but I could be wrong).
Thank you for the reply. Could you tell me more about overclocking? I'm new at this.

Hey, I have tried searching the forums but did not exactly come across the answer I was looking for. So, I am on my Samsung Galaxy SII and I just rooted my phone recently. I was having the problem of wifi sharing sucking up my battery, so I rooted my phone but at the same time I decided to try freezing up a few apps that I did not need to free up more ram and get more battery life. So, I followed the "safe to remove app" thread and I removed apps that were said to be safe from the spreadsheet, but could someone please tell me what is needed to run Youtube and the IM applications? For Youtube, everything works fine, until I get to the video part. I click on the video, and it never loads, the circle keeps spinning. I would think I disabled something important for loading the videos there as I can still load Youtube videos when I go to the website. Also, with IM I almost have the same problem. When I click on the application, the entire screen is black, with just the loading circle in the middle, but nothing ever happens. These two things seem to be the only problems I encountered so far. I only froze apps that were said to be for sure safe to remove. Nothing under caution or no. I hope someone could help me with this problem! Thank you guys so much for all your help! I do not know much about my phone as I just rooted it.
Not sure about IM app, i suggest try imo messenger.
For Youtube, did you remove video app?
(Videos; com.sec.android.app.videoplayer; VideoPlayer.apk)
Although im not 100% sure, I would bet that it's the cause of the video playback problem.
I think better to re-run all the frozen apps so that you will know that those frozen apps caused the issue. If not, then you have a corrupted system.
Alright, thanks for your help guys! I guess in the back of my head, I already knew I had to go back and test out each and every quarantined app again. I was just hoping someone knew exactly what was needed for those applications. Thanks though!
Hey guys im not sure if this is a common issue or not. I would use search but everytime I click on search my internet just sits there and loads for ever and nothing happens.
But here goes.
I have an Xperia Mini using CM10 mod on it. Everytime I pull up the weather on my phone it proceeds to tell me I am in Benton... I am not, I am in Wallsend.
However, I have a feeling it isn't the custom rom that is the issue as it always seemed to do this even on the stock rom from Sony.
I have tried clearing out my Network location data and that seemed to temporarily fix the issue but when I woke up this morning it was back to telling me I am in Benton. Until I went into the maps and told it to find my location! Why can't it automatically do this when I search for the weather?
P.S I am using the weather search feature for Google Now, not a dedicated weather app.
I hope someone can help me as I have searched everywhere and not had a viable answer. If I can't find the answer then its not too much of a problem as I am upgrading to a Galaxy Nexus this September.
I didn't see this question answered anywhere. But I noticed that a lot of GIF's and stuff seem to move really fast on screen. Is this normal ? It was the same situation with stock ROM and on TrickDroid. I tried uninstalling the apps and reinstalling but the same issue is occurring. Any ideas would be awesome.
Thank you.
