Hello all. I am starting this thread to be sure of what i will be doing with my HTC HD2. I spent around 3hours reading everything i could find on the topic, but with all those different builds, SPL, HSPL 1 2 3, and Roms, i am a bit lost now.
My problem is easy. I have a dutch HD2. I would like to have english rom. I dont care really about custom rom, i just would need an english rom, ideally official WWE latest rom.
My HD2 came from factory, and i probably did the mistake of updating right away. (i was hoping that the future and updated roms would allow for an easy language change.. but to my dismay, no...why is it so hard to change to english, OMG ). Right now, here is the status of my HD2
RAM: 512
Manila version 2.5.20181527.0
Rom: 3.14.404.2 (04666) NLD
I read that to be able to flash any rom (i would like to flash the latest WWE rom from HTC website) i was to install HSPL 2. But to install HSPL 2, your system needs to be:

SPL 1.42.0000 SPL 1.42.HSPL
SPL 1.62.0000
SPL 1.66.0000 SPL 1.66.HSPL
SPL 2.07.0000

So right now, it is incompatible with my Rom: 3.14.404.2 (04666) NLD
How can i down grade? Can i simply find a rom online, with NLD in, say for example RUU_Leo_HTC_NLD_1.66.404.1_Radio_Signed_15.30.50.0¶
7U_2.06.51.07_Ship
I see this one would be 1.66 (but 404.1 and not 0000.. is this a problem?)
Also, im worried ab out this radio.. i dont want to touch to those settings, is this file modifying the radio parameters?
If it is, where to find original rom?
Second, if install works (i will try in a couple of hours), i can then install HSPL without having to boot from SD card, right? That was the old method.
But it says: In HSPL2 you can select which version of SPL you want to install in the device.
There included 6 SPLs:
OSPL 1.42, OSPL 1.66, OSPL 2.08 (Original SPL)
HSPL 1.42, HSPL 1.66, HSPL 2.08 (Hard SPL)
How do i know which one to choose???
And i assume once HSPL is installed, i can then install my WWE rom from HTC website?

I have checked many threads today, i think you are mistaken. Translating what myself? And there is only 1 language included in the rom build, and not several languages unfortunately. If this was the case i think there would be around 50% less questions on forums. Why did HTC lock 1 language on 1 os.. In a country like belgium, where we have 3 national languages, you can imagine the problem
Also, i do not with to tweak with registry values to change manila language, which would make me lose certain sounds.
I wish to install a FULL new WWE rom on my HD2

first flash that nld rom over usb, then when it restarts the phone quickly enter bootloader, (pull the battery if you have to, no need to let windows set up)
then wilst in bootloader, run hspl2, in the dropdown choose 1.42.hspl or 1.66.hspl (one of those is likely already. selected)
flash the wwe rom over usb.
done.

if so, any rom that includes 1.42.0000 spl will brick your phone permanently.

its how i have it since i bought it i havent done the update that has been released by t-mobile yet. Id like to get it to where i can flash other roms on it but its at 2.10.0000 and of course wehn i run the program to put HSPL on there it tells me i need first SPL 1.42.0000. any advice would help

okay, take carefull note of this
you have a 'tmous' or 't mobile us' version of the hd2.
This is important, you WILL kill your phone if you try to flash ANY official rom other than those for the tmous.
You don't need spl 1.42.0000, you need spl 2.08.0000, and that will allow you to use hspl1024 (see in my sig)
go to '[ROM]Leo 1.5 T-MOBILE Test & Stock ROMS' thread in the tmous rom development thread,
find and download rom 2.10.0
connect to usb, run the .exe, let it install, and voila, , , your spl is now 2.08.0000 and hspl1024 will now work.
You are currently in the regular hd2 section, you do not have a regular hd2, you should bookmark THIS and do all your rom finding, etc. there.
Apps, and themes from teh regular hd2 section will work fine on your tmous, but not roms, and especially not radios.
When picking a rom, be sure that the chef has marked it as 'tmous compatible'. If you aren't sure, don't bother.

i think i made a huge mistake..anyway i'm a noob (still)...so this is my story:
i flashed succesfully wp7 on my hd2 ..so i didn't liked it and i decided to go back on wm6.5 and flashed with a stock rom with 1.42 spl...
now i'm trying again to flash hspl so i can have a cooked rom like before but it gives me an error...it says that i need spl 1.42 in order to do that...but when i flashed the stock rom the spl remained 2.08 and it looks like this:

fix robotic voice running android 2.2 via sd card.
running andriod 2.2 via sd seemed to work ok apart from the robotic voice during calls i'm led to believe that you need to change the radio version which opened up whole new kettle of fish

that version of hspl went out of date ten months ago. use hspl2 which works with any spl.

There is no HSPL version present yet who is compatible with SPL 3.03

I need to find a stock rom on NLD (dutch) to downgrade before putting my HSPL... Why is it so hard to find an original file from factory, say 1.42 in everylanguage?
And what is the difference by downgrading to 1.42 or 1.66?

1.66.404.1 is rom version,,, 1.66.0000 is the spl version.
yes that rom should be fine assuming you have an unbranded hd2. doesn't matter which you downgrade to, they both will allow hspl.
its not at all difficult to find them.
look for "leo official roms" thread, in rom development section, and in there, first post first link takes you to most of the roms.

So its finally clearer to me, 0000 is SPL and XXX is rom version
But to Downgrade, a non SPL version is ok then?
But to install HSPL, i need an SPL version?

all stock roms come with a version of spl, but it doesn't say which spl in the filename.
1.43 and 1.48 roms come with spl 1.42.0000
1.66 and 1.72 roms have spl 1.66.0000
3.14 comes with spl 3.03.0000 and hspl doesn't work with it.
the numbers you see in the filename are rom (1.66.404.1) and radio (2.06.51.07) versions, not spl.
when you look in bootloader at spl, it will always end either .0000 or .hspl where 0000 is stock.
it doesn't matter which spl you have, so long as it isn't spl 3.03 then hspl will work and allow you to flash roms andradios.

Unfortunately, i am currently on 3.14.. i tried installing a lower version ROM (1.66, the link i put earlier) but it didnt work..
How can i downgrade to those versions who enable me to use HSPL? Once u have a higher rom, it detects lower and u cant downgrade?
Is the only method to flash with SDcard?

Then that isn't your stock rom. (Although you didnt say why it didnt work, , ) if its teh right rom it will work
I think i managed to install my English pack allright!
I installed the earliest official pack from HTC, rom 1.48
Then installed HSPL3, then my official HTC WWE 3.14 rom!
Confirmed, it works!!!

dont smile too soon, if you flashed a 3.14 rom whilst spl is installed then you will have memory and stability issues.
Go to
settings menu all settings system memory, what does it show for free program memory? around 50meg? should be about 140.
Couldnt really find "memory settings" but what if ound was this:

TOtal programm 208 MB
Used program 163 mb
free programm 45 mb
NO SD CARD (must buy one tomorrow lol)

3.14 roms must have spl 3.03.0000
Before the 3.14 roms it didnt matter, all roms worked on any version spl, but the 3.14 roms dont.
You should have removed hspl first, (so that your spl ends .0000) then flashed the 3.14 rom, , this allows it to upgrade spl to 3.03.0000

Is a flash from SD card obligatory? But that would get rid of HSPL, no? and if i get rid of HSPL, my HD2 is going to go back to its original language (DUTCH), right? I want to avoid putting my HD2 in that language...

the .exe's are just installers, the spl/hspl inside is the same. So, the 2.08.hspl in hspl3, the actual code that gets flashed to your bootloader, is IDENTICAL to 2.08.hspl in hspl2.
But, hspl3 only has 2.08.0000 and 2.08.hspl as options, but since spl 2.08 isn't stock for your phone, if you ever needed to get back to stock, you can do that with hspl2, but not hspl3, so since the one version of spl/hspl that they both contain (2.08) is teh same, and hspl2 has extra options for a non tmous user, why use hspl3? there is no reason.
Oh, and whilst we're at it, hspl2 detects which spl you currently have and offers you the opposite (so if it finds 1.42.0000 it sets the dropdown to 1.42.hspl)
HSPL3 doesnt do this, it always offers you 2.08.0000 until you manually change it, and many a newb has just clicked OK and thinks they have installed hspl, when in fact they haven't.

I used HSPL3 because i read on forums thats its better to use the latest HSPL as the previous versions usually are out of date.. seems i was mistaken then... Also, i used HSPL3 because it was compatible with any 1.XX rom, and i could only downgrade as low as 1.48. Would HSPL2 be able to be installed on 1.48 official rom? I thought highest HSPL2 could work on was 1.42?
So you say that now that i have installed HSPL3, i cannot go back to stock? Im sure there would be a way, but what should i do then?
Should i just flash some stock rom from SD card, hoping it takes HSPL3 away, and restart procedure with HSPL2?

no, there is no need unless you want to. all non 3.x roms will work on any non 3.03 spl/hspl.
people recommend matching spl to rom, but no one has shown any evidence that it makes a difference.
if you do have a play, go with hspl2. its more useful and user friendly than hspl3. hspl3 is for tmous mainly.

You will see it works very well:
You can put the latest version of the ROM even on a 3.14 HD2 Pack (SFR, Etc. ..) and without HardSPL.
Then do as I installed the ROM example ARTEMIS V43.

the spl has some low level interactions with the radio and phone hardware (or something, im not technical)
If they want, the creator can add new instructions/commands to the spl which can be accessed by the rom/phone/radio (again, im kinda making this up, hehe)
However, i have personally run several roms for extended periods, ranging from 1.43, 1.66 and my main cooked rom, based on 2.13, and i have run them all on all three hspls, 1.42.hspl, 1.66.hspl and 2.08.hspl. I have also removed hspl after the flash and run the same roms on 1.42.0000 1.66.0000 and 2.08.0000, with zero noticeable difference.
Things changed with the 3.x roms. I don't know why, but 3.x roms won't run on any spl other than 3.03.0000 (so far) so obviously there have been changes.
Basically, for you, use hspl2 (forget hspl3, the code is the same, only the options changed, and they're not as usefull to regular hd2 owners) and in general you will use 2.08.hspl or 1.66.hspl and if you want to go back to stock some time, use hspl2 again and go for 1.66.0000.
If you want 3.14 roms, or cooked roms based on 3.14, its either get a stock 3.14 for your device, or use a goldcard to get spl3.03.0000 then SSPL to switch different 3.14 roms.

Hy i searched for about 2 hours for a fix on my problem.
If i make or receive a call and i want to change volume up or down or activate speaker the phone hangs or get very laggy for a few seconds and then freezes and all i can do is a reset from the reset button on the back of the phone.
Manila: 2.5.20191914.0
Rom: Artemis 48.1 WWE
Radio: 2.05.51.05_2
Protocol: 15.28.50.07U
I had a original german soft (didn't tested if it does like that in that soft too because i didn't know how to make a call in german...)), after that installed HSPL3 and Artemis.
Any fix? Is it the radio faulty?

Ok i flashed RUU_Leo_HTC_WWE_1.43.405.1_Radio_Signed_15.26.50.07U_2.04.50_22_2_Ship.exe and now seems that all is ok.
Your problem was related to the fact you didn't follow the instruction.
I mean with this that stock ROM 3.14 isn't compatible with HSPL.
Remove HSPL before you install stock ROM 3.14 and you would have problems.

best is to remove HSPL > use HSPL2_RUN.exe and remove your HSPL value select a spl value. and reinstall then Stock ROM 3.14 again.
Edit; if you will some more information; step by step guide take a look on this.
In case you have the traditional (free device):

Go back and repeat what you did in Post 2 and flash RUU_Leo_HTC_WWE_1.43.405.1_Radio_Signed_15.26.50.0 7U_2.04.50_22_2_Ship.exe.
Boot up into BootLoader Mode (Press and hold Volume Down button then tap the Power button). In the multicoloured screen you will see a value for the SPL, which should be 1.42.000. If it has a value of .HSPL instead of .0000, then you need run HSPL2 and change it to a .0000 version.
You next need to to use the GoldCard method so you can then flash with the Artemis 48.1 ROM.
From your first post, I would guess that you just did a quick read through of the Artemis ROM first post. In the FLASHING NOTES part, it says not to run HSPL and use the Gold Card Experience. All 3.14 ROMs and Based ROMs (ie the Artemis 48.1) require a Radio 2.15.50.14.

Just a small correction; Goldcard isn't alway's necessary, only in case if it is a branded device who don't have received yet a 3.14 stock ROM or if the aria ROM isn't updated yet to 3.14

I was specifically talking about crys18's problem.
You are correct that if they already have a 3.14 (based) ROM, then they need to use SSPL to use a custom ROM.
Ok i installed Artemis 48.1 over RUU_Leo_S_HTC_WWE_3.14.405.2_Radio_15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14_LEO_S_Ship.exe without removing HSPL3 and everything works normal. Except the fact that rams is only 39 Mb free, i think i will repair it with a hammer

I need a support i have installed rom version 3.14.468.2 (with spl 2.08) from official htc site but unfortunetely my windows mobile 6.5 camera doesnt work properly(errors such as not enough memory) in order to recover itself i have to rebbot the device. Can anyone help me which version of Rom i should install.

Is the SPL 2.08.0000 what was flashed with the 3.14.468.2 ROM? If not hou may need to upgrade hour SPL to SPL 3.03.0000 as I am pretty sure you have a EU HD2 with 512 MB of ROM space. Also what radio version do you have as the radio will affect your camera as well? You should have radio 2.14.50.02 or radio 2.15.50.14 seeing as you flashed the ROM you flashed.
Its the spl, 3.x roms fall apart without spl 3.03.xxxx on regular hd2s.
Into bootloader, USB, run hspl4 and choose 3.03.0000 or 3.03.hspl and reboot, and all should be fine.
