[Q] Manila does not show calendar contents - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I know how stupid this might sound, but "I did not change anything" and suddenly Manila does not show the contents of my calendar.
My calendar is full of meetings in PC's Outlook 2003 (WinXP 32bit) and Windows Mobile calendar (I also use Pocket Informant - calendar is full).
And Manila ignores all that showing "No Appointments".
What's even more interesting:
#1. When I change dates in Manila's calendar (finger up/down) - meetings show for 10ms and disappear immediately.
#2. When I create a new appointment in Manila's calendar, then:
a. this appointment still does not show in Manila's calendar
b. synchronizes OK and shows on the PC
c. exists in the Windows Mobile calendar
I've not installed anything on my HD2 since at least a month.
Also, I do not remember to play with my calendar configuration on the PC.
Obviously, everything is still wrong after the soft-reset.
My setup:
* OS: 5.2.21869 (21869.5.0.82)
* Manila: 2.5.19211619.0
* ROM: 1.66.479.2 (76641) WWE 01/11/10
* Radio: 2.07.51.22_2
* Protocol: 15.32.50.07U
Applications installed:
* Total Commander
* Macromedia Flash Player
* RAR
* SBP Backup
* SBP Time
* SBP Wireless Monitor
* SBP Pocket Plus
* WebIS Pocket Informant
* BsB Tweaks
* ChessBase Pocket Fritz 4
* CorePlayer
* .Net CF 3.7
* Resco Explorer
* SKTools
* Home HD2Set
* Microsoft Bing
* EA Mobile NFS
* EA Mobile The Sims
* EA Mobile Monopoly
* EA Mobile Tetris
* Skype
Does anyone have any idea for the solution, or at least where to go?

I recently flashed a new ROM (23569) and noticed the same problem. Outlook appointments show up on the home screen and on the lock screen as they should but when I tap the calendar button or go to the calendar tab the calendar is empty (No appointments). Trying to investigate…

When the phone is switched to the Windows default mode, everything is fine. So the problem is somewhere in Manila.
- - - - -
Finally, I found the cause of my issue. I had set a date format in the registry different from that available for selection in regional settings (I changed the preset year.month.day order to the opposite one: day.month.year). The Windows default mode was able to recognize it while Manila did not (it just "assumes" that the first part is a year, the second - a month and the third - a day). Once I changed it back (even using yyyy instead of yy) my all day events and appointments were displayed again. So it means that HTC Calendar issues are related with the date format. The registry key affected: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\nls\overrides, "SSDte". In some cases, you should also check the correctness of the SLDte value.
I hope this will help for somebody else.

Thanks for the help

Knowing this helped me fix my issue which was similar but I didn't have to tweak the registry, just focus on those settings in the manila setup.
Thanks!

CALDAV Support for two way synchronization
Two way synchronization
Usage statistics
Requirements:
Windows Mobile Pro 5 - 6.5
.Net 3.5
Why I wrote this program:
I’m using an alternative OS and I also often get different iCal Files with important appointments (from friends, university, work). So before I wrote the program I had to import the iCal files to different programs (e.g. Outlook, Evolution and so on) to get it synced. I also always had to import my personal calendar to Outlook or so because I use rainledar for my own appointments. Because I think that this is not the best way for handling this I wrote iCalParse. With this program I can simply import iCal files direct on my phone.
To import calendars available on the Internet
To import a calendar which is available over the Internet just download and install the new app version. Then start it go to the others tab (the OT button on the bottom) and then press the "config webIcals" button. Then press the "new Web Ical Source" button. Add the user name and password if there is any and then the url where to find the calendar. Then select the protocol. Use http if it available over http/https/webcal/webcals. The autosync period number is important for the autosync option. If the number is 0 the webical will never be synced with the autosync. If it is 1 it will be synced every autosync, if it is 2 every second sync, 3 every third and so on. Then click the save button. Now you have to tell the app that you want to download calendar informations over the intertnet. So you have to activate the "Load from the web" option at the Options tab (The Op button)
Afterwards you can parse/load and import the calendar like normal by just pressing the Parse button and then the import button at the Action tab. Or you can use the autosync feature.
To Use CALDAV for two way synchronization
Often web calendars support CALDAV. CALDAV is a open protocol to sync calendar information in both ways (server to phone and phone to server). To use CALDAV your CALENDAR must support it. Then start it go to the others tab (the OT button on the bottom) and then press the "config webIcals" button. Add the user name and password if there is any and then the url where to find the calendar. Then select the protocol. Use caldav if it available over CALDAV. Important is that there has to be a single slash (/) at the end of the url. Then click the save button. Now you have to tell the app that you want to download calendar informations over the intertnet. So you have to activate the "Load from the web" option at the Options tab (The Op button). And you have to tell the app that you want to sync from the phone to server not only from the server to the phone so that you have to active the "Use two way caldav sync" option.
Afterwards you can parse/load and import the calendar like normal by just pressing the Parse button and then the import button at the Action tab. Or you can use the autosync feature. During the parse operation (parse button) the changes on the device will be synced to the server if the "use two way caldav sync" option is enabled.
The CALDAV feature was confirmed to work with:
Google calendar
hint:
The url for your google calendar has the following format [ https://www.google.com/calendar/dav/ [ your Google Calendar ID ] /events/ ].
Your Google Calendar ID for your primary calendar is just your email address, but for all other calendars the Calendar ID will be in the form of [ long string of characters]@group.calendar.google.com. You can get the Calendar ID by clicking the down arrow next to your calendar at calendar.google.com and selecting 'Calendar Settings'.
Be sure to use https in your URL, as an http address will not work.
DAViCal (http://www.davical.org/)
hint:
The url for your DAViCal calendar has the following format [ https://[yourDomain]/caldav.php/cal...sabredav/"]http://code.google.com/p/sabredav/)
hint:
The url for your sabredav calendar has the following format [ http://[yourDomain]/sabredav/calend.../web.utanet.at/bohmerau/winmopage/"]iCalParse[/U][/B]

hey
tried using it on my diamond2.
the import of an ical went well, and the appointments were succesfull.
but I cant see the appointments in my calendar.
I have a 2h offset. This item should start at 3:30am. After importing, it shows the start at 01:30. Maybe the timezones are not considered here.

thanks for your reply. can you please give me a example ical appointment so i can test it here (like tube did it)?
I uninstalled it, and installed oggsynch instead.
How do I remove the sipchange error, which pops up every time I reset?
ill try to test ur stuff out at a later build.. thnx for ur hard work
A new Version (0.5.0) is now availiable at the link in the first post. It supports now one timezone for the whole ical file. this should also solve tubes problem.
Thanks, but now the application crashes while reading the ics. I guess it could have something to do with having HTML in the body.

no its not because of the html. its because of some strange/unclear definitions in the ical standard. i tested it with this file which should be similar to your file and fixed the problems.
A new version (0.5.1) is now availiable with some improvements for MS outlook compatibility.

Thanks for your support, but I still get an AppCrash with this ics file:

is this outlook 2003?
should work with the new version 0.5.2.
Yes, it is Outlook 2003.
Now the import works, but I still got the timezone problem with this one.
Appointment in Outlook: 06:00 - 17:00
Imported appointment: 04:00 - 15:00
Edit:
I did some tests with Outlook 2007 with importing an ics which contains a whole day. Time Zone issue is considered somehow: the start time is correct there, but the end time is +2h in every item.
Also I get the string "LANGUAGE=de:" in front of every subject line.
i changed the way the timezones are handled and fixed the problem with the LANGUAGE=de with the new version 0.5.3.
Seems to be still 0.5.2 on your server
Would there be a possibility to add an option to delete all calendar entries? This would make testing easier because windows mobile does not offer this option.

now is the realy the new one. sorry.
do you mean deleting all appointments without adding new ones?
LANGUAGE=de is fixed, thanx.
The timezone problem still persists:
Appointment in Outlook: 06:00 - 17:00
Imported appointment: 04:00 - 15:00
> do you mean deleting all appointments without adding new ones?
Yes, exactly!
Very useful... with some improvements waited
excellent and very useful program!
now I have only 2 problems, and by priority:
* all my appointements have 2 hours difference... I think its because of summertime in france (gmt+2)... could it be possible to have a choice before importing and after parsing to adjust the gmt+x ???
would be perfect with that... for exemple, just a 2 keys "+" or "-" to adjust the x from the GMT...
* also problem with utf8 or ascii characters... special ones are replaced by "?" ... the same option as above (to choose the character encoding format before import) would be very nice...
Thanks for you useful tool!
a new version (0.5.4) ist now availiable.

LANGUAGE=de is fixed, thanx.
The timezone problem still persists:
Appointment in Outlook: 06:00 - 17:00
Imported appointment: 04:00 - 15:00
> do you mean deleting all appointments without adding new ones?
Yes, exactly!

1) m i right that you tested with a ical file from outlook 2003? this should work also now. if not please take a quick look athe the beginning of the ical file and check if there is something similar to this
Code:
BEGIN:VTIMEZONE
TZID:(GMT-6:00) Central Time (US & Canada)
X-MICROSOFT-CDO-TZID:11
BEGIN:STANDARD
DTSTART:16010101T020000
TZOFFSETFROM:-0500
TZOFFSETTO:-0600
RRULE:FREQ=YEARLY;WKST=MO;INTERVAL=1;BYMONTH=11;BYDAY=1SU
END:STANDARD
BEGIN:DAYLIGHT
DTSTART:16010101T020000
TZOFFSETFROM:-0600
TZOFFSETTO:-0500
RRULE:FREQ=YEARLY;WKST=MO;INTERVAL=1;BYMONTH=3;BYDAY=2SU
END:DAYLIGHT
END:VTIMEZONE
and if it is please post the text between BEGIN:VTIMEZONE/END:VTIMEZONE
2) it is in now. you can find it at the "others" tab

1) please also check your icl file for the timezone which should be specified at the beginning like i told tube.
2) yeah it should be possible to find a solution. would you be so nice to post some faulty characters here? thx

1) in fact I haven't specified it, and as I have all corrected by hand now (70 appointments) I have not really the time to test again... sorry... But to add another thing I have seen is that the hour difference was of 2 hours at the begining, and 1 hour at the end of my export, which looks normal as it is winter time... does your program makes the difference for winter/summertime? If not this should be also an option to tick ON/OFF, because depending on your ics file it could be managed in different manners...
2) I have just checked my ics file and this is not your program fault but my own source which does not code correctly the characters like é, è, à, ...etc...
so thanks again for your program and I will check new version

if the timezones are specified correctly in the icl file it will also calculate correct times for winter/summertime

Great work compadre!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you! It was a lot of work to achieve this application.
I will continue working if people find it useful.
Any feedback will be apreciated!
Very good application. For me the best contact app.
Good for multiple destinations of sms, the only application that does it in the right way.
Please, continue working!
Thanks! I'll continue.
What happened with VGA version? Lots of users use VGA phones nowadays.
The designer is taking more time than I expected. It will be ready this week.
Please VGA version!
I'll try to speed up.
i want all of it..the function.
but the 1 with facebook feeds,perhaps it's other version?the lite version without it and full version with it.
I was not planning to add a payed version but it could be in the future to push features.
Bug
I found a bug:
When you delete a sms message from the deleted folder, the application crashes.

[POLL] which new app is most desired by YOU?

Please read these 5 ideas I have and then make a vote to the app you would love to use the most and would most likely donate towards serious (and opensource!) development. If you are unclear about anything, please ask before voting! Thanks.
1. Better FaceBook Sync - like BookSync, but instead of being restricted to Facebook's ToS it would use the html interface to additionally sync these infos:
* Sync all friends photos with captions tags and comments for offline browsing.
* Phone numbers
* Email addresses (yes, I am aware it's a .gif)
* Addresses
* Facebook Events (and Friends' events)
* as well as profile pics (high res), date of birth (for birthday reminders), name (girls who marry update on your phone instantly)
* option to only silently sync when using wifi (and of course, only updates get pulled down)
2. Better Lock - replace the default WM 6.x security lock feature where you enter a PIN every 24 hours or so, with a much more friendly AND more secure version:
* Incremental Challenge/Response: Have your PIN as 8 or so digits but every 12 hours or so (configurable) it will ask for just 1 digit ("Enter the 4th digit of your PIN"). Enter it wrong and it'll ask for 2 digits now. Wrong again.. 4 digits and so on. Additionally, every 24 hours or so, ask for extra digit.
* While locked, allow for basic functions such as wifi on/off, email/text/call anyone already in address book, turn device off, allow reading of texts that contain a magic password (so owner can communicate with "thief").
* Button to show owner info (incase it's lost) with sub-button to call owners emergency contact number
* 3 invalid attempts = phone texts and calls emergency number and/or integrates with RemoteTracker
3. Better Marketplace - like Microsoft Marketplace and AppToDate merged with improvements
* Microsoft Marketplace requires each dev to upload and maintain thier app (never gonna happen with 100% esp abandoned but still useful apps)
* AppToDate is abandoned? Last update 2008..
* Allow free software only!!!!
* Allow trusted mods to upload apps on behalf of devs, making this BetterMarketplace very comprehensive
* UC compatible & allowing user to record installed apps to our server so after hard reset you can enter user/pass and automagically get all your favourite apps installed
* Compatibility Matrix: only apps that work on your phone are displayed (eg, qvga/vga and wm5/wm6 and so on)
* Popularity Contest: rank apps based on usage in total minutes. This way, only the truly useful apps get to top of list
* Install via web.. using your user account, you can click to install from the Web interface... and your ppc will amazingly start to install it! ppc application interface will exist too ofc.
4. Mobile Proxy - a http proxy on your phone that modifies your web experience via plugins ideas such as:
* Google Maps Mobile - allow supercaching.. which means remember map segments forever on SD card. Perhaps even precaching your area.
* Windows Live Messenger - allow use of MSN when offline. I often turn my phone on/off often and drives friends insane as they see me go offline..online..offline..online. To solve this, this proxy plugin could re-route MSN protocol via our desktop computer so that a) we can sign into multiple locations, something the ppc app doesnt support yet and b) we can receive and view messages we missed while ppc was offline, same for sending msgs could be queued.
* Ad blocker, flash blocker, javascript blocker
* Send custom headers to custom http servers (to fake/force mobile or desktop view per site)
5. Email Redefined - not too sure about my competence to pull this one off though.
Instead of receiving a torrent of email to my device, half of which I don't care about, separate emails into 3 distinct channels:-
1. General crap. When received has no notification, not even a number next to the titanium email plugin.
2. From humans not in my address book. New senders get an instant reply asking them to complete a captcha if they want my mobile to buzz.
3. From friends who are in my address book. I would get a sound played, much like a 'new SMS' sound, and titanium would show "1" next to email.
* If possible with Mobile Outlook, treat facebook inbox-messages as emails.. so buzz, play a sound, and allow reply (via fb).
* If possible (might cost the user), add email push facility whereby the phone receives a hidden SMS text when you have a new email worthy of a beep/buzz, wakes up (but with screen still off and device locked), connects to data (wifi/3g, as configured), gets the email, then beeps/buzzes.
Better Facebook and Marketplace definitely! Those are a must!
Can't decide between Marketplace and Proxy. I LOVE your ideas for marketplace, but I've been wanting to sign into multiple locations since I've had IM on my phone. I hardly ever sign into my IM's because of it. I think I'm going with Marketplace with Proxy being a close second.
Bump (1 of 2).
It would be useful if some of you could post a reply like the above 2 people did too.. as it seems voting in a poll does not bump this thread.. (a forum bug imho). Also useful if anyone can point out competition (free or payware) to each and any of my ideas, unless already mentioned. Thanks!
Bump (2 of 2)

Ciao
I've started on the most popular idea, any alpha testers PM me (your msn address preferred)

Better FaceBook Sync all the way......

[APP][8-07-2010] GC Call Logger - CallTrack's features for Windows Mobile

Hello everybody
This is my first post so I'm stressed a bit
Some times ago I had the Android OS on my Kaiser. There was the simple app called CallTrack. This little app can send your call history to selected Google Calendar. I searched similar app for Windows Mobile and I didn't find any, so I decided to make my own solution. That was the beginning of Google Calendar Call Logger. This simple app does the same as CallTrack.
Main features:
- Storing Google login (email) and password (both encrypted with simple algorythm)
- Retrieving and storing calendars from Google account (links for calendars are encrypted too)
- Automatic loading call history to main screen
- Updating Google calendar with new call history's items
The last function is most interesting. GC Call Logger retrieves all your log items stored in phone and shows them on main screen. For each of them GC checks if it exists in destination calendar and sends them if it not, so there are no duplicates.
I use the Google API to communicate with Google servers. This API contains several libraries, that must be in the same folder with main exe file (libraries are included in CAB installer).
[Updates]
8-07-2010 - initial version (1.0)
[Bugs]
- Incompatible with landscape mode (it will be added in next version (I hope )
- no exe icon (I was to lazy to made some )
- probably compatible only with QVGA devices (of course that is no problem if somebody likes scrollers )
- strange selection of active calendar (don't set as active more calendars as once, app allow it but only first will be synchronized).
- too slow
My first contact with this API was 2 days ago, so there are more bugs, I think. Don't hestitate to tell me about them.
[System requirements]
- Windows Mobile 5.0 and more (compiled for 5.0 but tested on 6.5)
- .NET CF 3.5
- QVGA device
- about 330KB free storage space
- internet connection
App is free. It can be installed on Storage Card or in main memory.
Perfect, perfect idea! Im looking for this app for long time!

[App]Show missed Reminders [Updated 2012/01/14]

I had a problem with missing Reminders when the device was off.
If a reminder was supposed to go off, but the device was off (not stand-by), the reminder will not be shown (Da!) - and even when I turned the device back, it wouldnt pop-up reminders for events/appointments/tasks that occured when the device was off.
(Unlike my old WM2003 device, that would show reminders that were in the past, even if it was off, and without battery)
So - I after it was too much - I decided to write a small app that will show reminders that were supposed to be displayed when the device was off.
This app is composed of a service that writes the time every 1 minute, and a start-up application that scans for reminders that were supposed to be shown between the last time registered in that file, and the time the startup application is ran.
(And since I dont have a certificate for the service, a small startup exe that starts the service and quits).
The 2005 cab id for WM 5 and up
and the 2003 cab is for WM 2003 (although 2003 probably doesnt need this)
** Requires .NET V2 and higher.
****** All who downloaded this app before Oct-20-2011 05:00 (GMT+2), Please download it again, since the app was crashing in some scenarios.
This is now fixed (Hopefully all crashes were found).
Update 2012/01/14:
A bug was fixed where Recurring Appointments/Tasks were missed, and in some cases were not shown.
