[Q] SEUS update today?? - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

my SEUS required update today weighing in 17.1MB, any idea what this is??

Using vast intellect, and several super computers, I deduce it is an update. For SEUS probably.

That was a great deduction !!!
I like some of sarcastic jokes posted on this forum.

LoL, that could be anything

I think they are preparing to roll out Gingerbread 2.3!

We all know SE will release froyo for the X10(if at all) only once honeycomb has been announced.. that way they can make sure that we are always 2 versions behind

Err... SE wont be releasing 2.2 for any device. They havnt even touched that version. They've been working on 2.3 since even before the 2.1 release though it's still uncertain if X10 will ever get that update anyway.

Question regarding X10 ROMs

I'll be getting a Rogers X10 sometime this week and I'm just educating myself on the root method etc before I actually get the phone. Anyway, I've pretty much got that figured out and the one click exploid method looks simple compared to the root method I had to use for my 911 patched HTC Dream, and since my computer is already setup with ADB and stuff it'll be fine.
Anyway, my question is regarding ROMs for this phone. I've only ever flashed Cyanogen onto any device and those are pretty straight forward as far as what version of android it is. I don't see a whole lot going on with this phone as far as good custom firmwares go and it's kind of discouraging me from getting this device. The phone itself ships with 1.6 on it, and I've been using 2.2 on my Dream since the CM update came out... even though this phone totally dominates the dream, I don't fancy the idea of going back to Donut.
I'm having a really hard time finding which one of the "RXXA0XX" firmwares is the newest, and which versions they run.
Any help is mundo appreciate.

R2BA026 is the newest unless you use AT&T, and all run X10 FW as of now runs on 1.6, and as the bootloader hasn't been cracked yet 1.6 is all you can run.

Mmm that's what I figured. Do we know of anyone actively working that?
I REALLY don't like the way that Sony GUI looks.

[Q] is it worth updating to Android 2.1

Before someone starts to throw things at me let me just explain my doubt.
As many of you I have been waiting for the update to 2.1 for a long time.
I have read most of the reviews that cover what changes from 1.6 to 2.1, but I see many people trying to revert back to 1.6.
I would just like to know if in your opinion it is worth updating an U20i to 2.1.
Thanks for your input.
i updated my x10 to android 2.1 for the sake of very good apps
So there are no unbearable bugs or drawbacks in Android 2.1 from 1.6?
So far we have 4 votes for 2.1, anyone care to explain what were the major gains or major drawbacks / problems after the update?
Keep the votes coming
there are no diffrences except the browser the base system and the skin

This almost sound as a funny answer. "There are no differences, only everything changes" hehe
Rofl, I like 2.1 now after getting it to work, wouldn't want to go back tbh.

2.1 is useless
i want 2.2 so i can get the flash playeer
yesyes i know the stupid snapdragon
however NO MULTITOUCH in 2.1
thats an biig bug!!!!!!!
stupid SE shoud go and kill themselves
well now we know who voted against the 2.1 :=)
I should do the update tonight if I am able. Then I'll leave a comment too
My phone got slightly faster. But I updated mostly for the apps
I've just updated to 2.1 and I too note less freezes and a smoother operation. Plus I got my phone debranded and I have access to all the nice applications available on the android market.
Lets see if we can get the bootloader cracked and are able to eventually get 2.2 or even 2.3 on this wonderful device.
The only annoyance I have with 2.1 is I can't seem to get default input to stay off, something keeps reactivating it.

[Q] Best ROM for those who don't want to lose funcionality

I´m very confused with the number of options in ROMs for Xperia X10. With the amazing jog of so many developers, i just can't choose a ROM for me.
So i´m asking. Which is the best ROM (speed, stability and feature wise) for people who don't want to loose features of the phone (especially camcorder, camera and wifi)?
Thnks!
If you wan HD camcorder, you can only stay at stock rom.
I am using go3asy's 2.1 rom honeycomb look. It everything work n smoother than stock rom.

Gotta agree with that . Here it is: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=949457
I'm using the latest stock ROM with all good tweaks to make it very fast and responsive.
Things from my sig + max events per second=26 thing and heapsize=26m

I hd install Eminence's ROM once, and I satisfy with it. But after latest update from SEUS, my x10i is not able to use this ROM anymore. It just stuck on boot animation. Any idea how to fix this?
But I will try to install honeycom one. It seem better.Still downloading. Thanks for the information. Thanks...

I hope they can come up with a fix for this soon
It is the only reason why I'm still with stock rom.
stock rom maybe . eclair 2.1
Look like i´ll be on stock for a while.
Let's hope developers solve the problem with the camcorder on 2.2 and 2.3 soon. Maybe Arc shed a light on the cause of this.
well
the last i was on eclair
i was usin this kx rom
its nice n fast n everythin works

Best ROM for those who don't want to lose functionality? Stick to the official SE firmware [including official updates].
Sony don't give a crap if we run 2.2, 2.3, or even 2.4/3.0 on it - and it's because of the simple fact that it's just a firmware. That's all what it really is. Only 'firmware' and *not* a ROM.
It's the consequence of SE's DRM stronghold on the encrypted bootloader, signed with a 1024 bit RSA key. We're looking at years of bruteforcing to be able to break in, which frankly neither is feasible nor worth the while.
And that is why nobody from SE cared enough to even bat an eyelid when one XDA user mailed their tech support representative complete with screenshots of his X10 running the 2.2.1 firmware, a link to a thread from XDA alongwith some XDA Dev namedropping. It's easy to realize that if this was a significant development, SE would've been all over our [XDA's] ass a long long time ago.
As much as I hate it, I think it's about time we came to terms with the reality. A fully functioning port is not going to happen. Atleast not until someone manages to dethrone the bootloader from it's current position
And no, it's not because the Dev's here don't have the technical know how required to do so, but rather it's because SE have ensured it wouldn't be worth anybody's while attempting a go at it.
Sad but true.

It's indeed sad & that's going to be the case with arc as well I suppose , right? Sorry I got of topic, I recommend KX10 & Blue Sparks
+1 for kxhawkins rom I think the linked worked http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=913610
FreeX10 is awesome too but I need the functionality.

x10 big brother got 2.3 while the mini won't

read this blog
http://blogs.sonyericsson.com/products/2011/03/25/update-on-xperia™-x10/
so happy coz they listening us
and soooooooooo sad, coz my device wont get the update
Noticed this few days ago, sad that it's not coming to our Mini Pros. I don't like the way SE do their upgrades regarding their Android phones. HTC always releases updates quick and have their devices up do date. It took so long for SE to get from 1.6 to 2.1, when the mainstream at the time were all having 2.1. Now when everyone else is having 2.2, we will be stuck on 2.1 (officially) forever.

Just got android 2.2

OTA FROM MOBILE. JUST GOT IT YESTERDAY. Sorry bout screaming testing it out. Really fast. Keyboard feels more responsive. Cool little features here n there. Overall like it. Try going to phone system update and check urs.

We are waiting in uae
there's cm7 running 2.3, and you guys are hoping for 2.2? forgive me if i sound brash, but 2.2 really nowhere near the smoothness of 2.3.
2.2 better then 2.1

I updated to 2.2 as well, but I downloaded the update.zip and loaded it to my SD card in recovery mode to install. Works like a charm.
I got a bit bored of waiting on the UK 2.2 release, not sure when it's coming out.
Anyway, I went the down the 2.3 route with CM7, and very happy with it.
A question I was going to ask before, but never did, is, if you were on 2.1 and went to 2.2 via the official route, would you still be able to update to 2.3 with CM7?
I'm wondering whether Motorola would lock the phone down further to try and prevent it.
Hi, no need to worry, you can update to cm7 without any problems.
Motorola understands that we don't want to be locked out of our phones.
The carriers are the ones who make motorola doing this locked bootloader thing.
greetings
