[Q] Changing the default save location on sd for camera - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just recently noticed that my 100ANDRO folder on my sd card has a few (recent) photos left in it when there were previously around 800+
(Luckily I have been using pcfilesync to backup my media to my linkstation so I can get them back.)
The only thing I can think of is that when upgrading to 2.1 stock or installing the 2.1 lite rom the camera recreates the above folder and ends up overwriting the existing images.
I found one mention of this on the custon aosp rom thread but the poster didn't seem to get a response (probably due to the amount of posts!)
Anyway my question is can you change the save folder from 100ANDRO so that when it recreates the default folder on the sdcard it won't overwrite any files ?
... bit strange this one as I was always under the impression the sd card contents were pretty safe when changing roms etc (from my limited experience with android and previous wm phones)
Thanks

I remember seen it on camera settings, is just like a cybershot camera
check it if not working tell me

Firefox download folder location

I can't seem to locate the directory folder that the new firefox app downloads to. anyone?
Nevermind, it goes right to the sdcard, no folder. I didn't see the files because the downloads failed...
can't seem to get the download folder to change.
I went into:
about:config
created a new string: browser.download.dir
set the value to: /mnt/extSdCard/Downloads/
Restarted Firefox
But still the downloads go into the sdcard/downloads
I've also tried:
/extSdCard/Downloads/
/sdcard/
/extSdCard/
/mnt/sdcard
none of these have any effect.
Any ideas?

Im also looking for changing my dl directory. It have work once for me when modifying the "browser.download.folderList" after creating the browser.download.dir string. But after reboot of firefox the next dl will go back again to the sdcard.
Wonder if anyone else could tell how to do it
creating a new string is a good step for changing your dl directory. But you should also add this step to make it work.
Modify the value of "browser.download.folderList" from 1 to 2
Thats it!!

When editing your old posts, try not to delete the original information that could have been useful to others.
People won't have known what value to put into the string.

I hate managing folders so now I use directory bind which allows me to bind two folders together. Basically you create another downloads folder on your external sd card and use directory bind to "bind" them. Checkbox to transfer contents and your downloads (source) folder will be dumped into the empty folder you've created automatically (destination must be empty when checking the box). When altering files in either downloads folder, the changes appear in both. When you look at storage, the original source folder is not calculated into your used internal storage amount even though every other app sees files in there (since that would defeat the purpose). I use it for my downloads, camera and several apps and game folders not designed to be pushed to SD. Instead of continuously resetting app download destinations, I sit back and relax knowing every app downloads to the proper place (minus the rogues who think they deserve their own folder lol). When flashing a new ROM, simply unbind everything first and disable autostart, backup with titanium backup, after restore, you should be good (depending on your new version of android in which case you may need to adjust some settings). If setting up from scratch again, assuming your working folder structure is still in tact, you can bind again without ticking the box (since the files are in their proper place and a transfer is no longer necessary).
You can get it here, it looks like it hasn't been updated in a while, but I've tested it from Android 4.0 through 4.2.2 and it's perfect (settings adjustments will likely be required): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1410262
Hi everyone, was a solution found to that still issue? I tried to move the default download folder to the ext SD card with settings into about:config, I changed as well the "browser.download.folderList" value to 2 and add a "browser.download.defaultFolder" string, but everything failed, please does someone know what to do? Or is there another setting menu or mod/Exposed module to achieve this..?
Thanks in advance for the help!

Hi, thanks for your help, but it still don't work for me. What I don't understand is that the path can be whether
/storage/sdcard1/Download
or
/ext_card/Download
Maybe you know why? I'm running CM11 nightlies (4.4.4) on Xperia Z2

With a r/w sd? Use a root explorer to find the path to the r/w sd
I'm very busy and sorry not to say anything for long but thank you much for your answer and help.
My path is correctly pointing the SD, I checked carefully the settings and got no success. Then suddenly Firefox began to write on ext sd, but still this is only sometimes! I tried to see if the files type or size had something to do with that behavior but it seems to be just erratic..
It actually seems that it's the "Flash Video Downloader" module who sends files into the internal storage regardless of the browser settings..

[Q] Backing up Keyboard Library

I am trying to find out which files i need to back up (copy to ext sd or pc) to back up my user generated keyboard library/dictionary. I am talking about the GB keyboard as that is really the only keyboard i use. I assume i would have to copy something from the /lib/ directory, im just not sure what. any help would be appreciated.
(no... Titanium backup will not work)
Have you tried copying the entire sd card ? and seeing if that works ?
Haven't done that yet I just wanted to start backing up periodically as I tend to soft brick when working on themes. I guess I will just back up all the libraries just incase

[Q] How do you change the wallpaper on settings submenus in CM7?

I currently use a HTC HD Mini (Photon) running the SCREAM ROM by Ling Gan. It has a few bugs for most of which there is either a workaround or fix but there is the one problem which has remained unsolved: the default wallpaper on everything BUT the home and lockscreens cannot be changed. It is of a tree in a meadow under a blue sky and when rotated to landscape changes to some smiling chinese lady in the "settings" submenu. Doesn't hamper use much but it is quite annoying.
I have tried a number of solutions some of which resulted in my having to reflash and others did nothing. I post this here because I think it is a CM7 issue. The ROM developers have so far been unable to post a solution within the thread and I am aware that a fix for similar problems on CM9 ROMs exists using ADB to edit framework-res.apk. I felt it was time the problem was tackled by the wider XDA fam. Used google translate to look on the chinese site where the ROM is native to (mobile-kon) but found no help as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
i think ur problem lays in the framework-res.apk it contains the look of the rom and the transition effects
you can mod apk with the apkmanager tool for ur computer in the frameworkresapk you should find the images u want to change replace them witch a black picture or something like that
if never done this befoure exept from changing some transition effects and i had a couple of errors among this
the easier way seems to search for the rom on another page cus the images ure stating are not standart in the cm7
SOLVED!

Many thanks!
I started off looking through the "res" folder in framwork-res.apk using Root Explorer to identify the images for the wallpaper. They were
Res/drawable-land-mdpi/screen-background-dark-transparent.png
And
Res/drawable-mdpi/screen-background-dark-transparent.png
I then created a copy of framework-res.apk on my SD card and copied it onto my pc. I created new wallpapers to replace the ones I just mentioned, one in portrait, the other in landscape. They were 320x480 and 480x320 respectively. Using 7zip on the pc, I placed them in the corresponding folders (/drawable-mdpi for protrait and /drawable-land-mdpi for landscape).
I copied framework-res.apk back to my sdcard and then fired up terminal emulator to run the following commands
su
sys -rw
busybox cp /sdcard/framework-res.apk /system/framework
sys -rw
You might get error messages from running apps after this but ignore them and reboot. The idea is to replace the framework-res.apk in system/framework with the one you just edited.
After the reboot, you should have your newly created wallpaper showing up in settings in both landscape and portrait modes.
Please hit "thanks" for both jiffer1991 and I if this was helpful. Big ups to jiffer1991for pushing me in the right direction.

hm u got stuck in a bootloop thats what i meant when i mentioned errors =)
you could make a zip with the old framework res apk or reflash the cm rom
if u dont whipe data/cash ure setting will be safed
read some tutorials how to mod the framework res apk
I have an .zip file on the sd card.
Can i copy it to the Android system somehow?
Felix
P.S. can i zip the framework and remove the ".zip" to ".apk"?
It is most likely that the zip file you have is the ROM image from which you flashed in the first place. Changing the extension to apk is NOT what you want to do. I suggest you create a backup in CWM of you present configuration and after reflashing, you can then do a partial restore of your user data. But its like Jiffer1991 said, read up on CWM, theres an exhaustive guide on xda somewhere.
Thanks,
i installed my modified cm rom without wipe caches data or something.
And now i have my old datas back, with the new Background.

Flashing 4.2 ROMs moves sdcard to /0

When i flash a 4.2 rom, my entire sdcard is nested in a /0 folder in my new sdcard location. From what i understand this has to do with the new users feature. Its pretty confusing and if i don't take the time to move my entire sdcard back from /0 (takes some time) i end up with nested folders like /sdcard/0/0/0 and everything is hard to find. Is there any way to avoid this other than manually moving my whole sdcard every time a flash a new ROM? I know im not the only flashaholic here lol

You need to update your recovery... the newer version of TWRP & CWM don't create nested user folders!

Well, i use the CWM touch 6.0.2.7-i9300 (latest version on cwm site) and the issue stay. All roms bases on the latest cyanogenmod (4.2) have this issue too, or because in that is common have a modified recovery, or because a issue with recovery + new kernels (seems to be related with multi user, i never try this feature and probaly never use, my phone is just for me).
Being a work really hard test new roms, especially with software that seek its parameters to specific folders without option to search / select the folders.
a good update would implement a feature to let the user choose a folder where the files are, like nandroid backups, seems to be possible in TWRP, but not in CWM.
This is one, but still have to move the all other files to see them properly in all apps (yes, i know, titanium lets to choose where the backup files are) but with only 16GB (most common models) the storage is quickly filled with duplicated files/folders and cause confusion to the user where to look or put your files.
realy hard ...
