Hello,
I don't believe that I am first asking this but I didn't found answer in this forums so I must ask in anew thread...
I hate this 2 LED diodes under HW keys, they are killing my eyes in dark, it's possible to disable them completely? I hope it's...

for 1.6, the settings most probably work for 2.1 - check it out and update the wiki by the way !

Hello people, to my dismay, I have found that there is no notification LED on the S2 and so I'm wondering whether or not there is an option, through apps or such, to get your screen to light up or something. Just doing some research before I get this phone as I don't want to be stuck with a problem without knowing whether it is able to be solved.
Thanks in advance
Use the No-LED app.
Edit - It wont light up your screen like a Pink Floyd concert, but it does provide color icon notifications for email, sms/mms, charging status etc
Thanks! I just looked up the app after reading your post and it seems perfect, with the bonus of being developed for the Galaxy S. Thanks again, it'll be among the first apps I'll get
To the guys who use no Led:
Is it true that it drains battery a lot?
Guess the is no alternative right now.
I would love blinking "menu" and "Back" Button rather than blinking screen...
I looked around for info on the this app and found the developer's thread about it. It's someone from XDA actually.

i ll test it now anyway...
Try any kernel that supports bln and install bln control from the market. This way the buttons will light up if you missed anything ( you have to be rooted though)

I don't think there's a kernel yet that supports bln for SGSII....

Frankly speaking, it's a terrible idea to lighten the screen as notification. Yes it is absolutely true that it will drain the battery, definitely. So No-LED is a big No for me, especially when GS II have two backlited keys, we are just missing the BLN kernel support.
Regards.
"I would love blinking "menu" and "Back" Button rather than blinking screen..."
Exactly what I'm looking for too.
+1 for the blinking backlighted buttons idea!
<rant>I'm currently stuck with an old G1 with a dedicated notification multicolored LED and I'm getting ready to upgrade my phone (most likely the SGII) and I'm disappointed to see newer phones are lacking notification lights... It's not like it's a lot more expensive to implement... a simple colored LED with a timer interrupt and an I/O pin...</rant>
Anyways, I'd love to have the backlighted button as an alternative..
Thanks,
Stephane
Have you noticed that when the proximity sensor is on it turns red? Make a call and check it next to the camera. I guess we could use that as a notification led. I wonder what would eat more battery, the soft-keys backlight (like the BLN in i9000) or the proximity sensor.
"[ROM] MiniCM7-2.1.7 [28/12/11]Gingerbread 2.3.7/CM7.2" Addition / Keyboard lights
Hi,
Happy new year to all of you & Special thanks to nobodyAtall for this great ROM.
Since I can't post to his thread directly I have to post here. I followed the thread carefully and have an addition to the keyboard backlight problem:
The settings in the phone do indeed work. However, the sensor in my Mini Pro sometimes has "-1" as value which is not covered by the settings with start with "0".
The keyboard lights then do not work since this sensor value is not covered. Setting the phone to sleep and sliding out the keyboard makes the sensor working again most of the time.
I am trying to figure out when exactly this happens so you maybe able to find a solution to this.
I think some of those that have the keyboard backlight problem maybe facing the partial "sensor -1" problem which I have.
Maybe this post could be moved to the correct thread.
Btw, I can't find the "Thanks" button. Where is it?
It seems to me that this always just happens when awakening the phone in an area where no light is shone into the sensor.
No matter how i try it, after waking up the phone, the light sensor only starts working after light is shone into it
One time, I even managed to get it stuck at -1 with the kb lights on and not turning off anymore too btw
aand the thanks button should be next to the buttons for quote, multi-quote and edit btw
Hi Carpe Dimi,
thanks for replying. If I understand you correctly this is some sort of bug in this ROM which needs to be fixed. Or is this a problem in the kernel or the hardware? Something does not seem to read out the sensor values correctly.
Its somehow paradox that light needs to be available to get light ...
looks like i have to carry a torch light to light up the sensor
fun apart, i too have no lights on the keyboard. so just using like an ordinary X10i mini phone.
Maybe this is usefull for someone: you can also shine an ir light like your remote control into the sensor to make it work again.

Why don't you guys just use D4's Kfix?

Hello everyone.
Is there any method to disable the menu and back button's light even when we touch it?
Sorry if my question has been asked and answered.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.deskangel.kblight
i use this too. its really good and i converted it to a system app so it turns on straight away,,,
Helo. There was a thread with this question back from 2012, nobody really answered that either. I hope I can actually get some answers. Even some clues might be helpful, I don't want to be spoon fed, its just I never encountered this.
I have successfully ported a rom to my device, it has a Navigation bar, even though my rom has physical navigation keys, now the weird thing is, the the buttons do actually work, but the back-light isnt. I have even set the button light arrays in framework-res (though there were none even in my stock rom), still nothing. I am really going nuts here on what causes this.
Also the device light drivers are present, and notification/charging leds are working correctly, even auto backlight is working correctly.
If someone could point me in the right direction I would be very thankful.
So I guess there is no solution to this?
Hi!
Plain question from the title.
TL;R
PVG100 has the Touch button (three white dots button beneath the screen). This button uses some kind of backlight.
In many phones with similar backlighted buttons there is an official/unofficial/rooted/custom option to use that backlight to indicate active notifications. Android even has a standard API mechanism (pretty ancient though) for this scenario called Backlight Notification (BLN) which is natively interated into notification mechanism.
Is there a similar option of some kind for PVG100? Rooted or non-rooted.
Regards.
P.S. Remark about energy saving for thus who worry about. Some poorly implementations of BLN can eat battery like an angry hog. It is a known drawback of bad programmed BLN. But that is not mandatory and usually concerns blinking BLN.
For administration: I'm sorry if I posted this thread into incorrect forum (Miscellaneous Android Development). I've pressed the "New Thread" button on Palm Palm (PVG100) Discussion page and was directed here. Correct me please if I'm wrong. Cheers.
It's a good question. It was clearly designed for doing just that but it never got enabled. Unfortunately it's a case of superb hardware design and terrible software implementation.

yes thats the app....im rooted but still couldnt figure out how to get it to work
@vrzs3mini
After using the subj for a while, I came to suspect that "tree dots" is not lighted by some dedicated LED. It is rather just a light from the display backlight.
The three dots are not light up by the screen backlight.
Using Gravitybox it's possible to disable the backlight completely, or make the three dots act as notification lights
