Recently I installed the Eternity 2 build003a Rom and it removed the Backup and Restore app. The problem is my most recent (and most important backup) is saved with that app. I tried reinstalling the app with root explorer, package installer, ADB shell but it won't let me install it. With the package installer it keeps saying "Application not installed!" and with the ADB shell it gives me this error:
C:\Android\Tools>adb install -r Backupandrestore.apk
486 KB/s (2386714 bytes in 4.794s)
pkg: /data/local/tmp/Backupandrestore.apk
Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_UPDATE_INCOMPATIBLE]
I downloaded the APK from the Sony website so it should be compatible. I would like to know is there a way of forcefully installing an app? If not is there any other apps out there that can use the stock backup and restore app files to restore the phones data?
if u had the apk file, try using side loaded to install it. google search :
Android Central Sideload Wonder Machine 1.0
after u successfully implemented the sideload machine, thick the Update existing app

so i just flashed KaosFroyo v37 on my Eris, i'm not new to swapping ROMs and have been playing with KaosFroyo from the beginning. but for some reason now the uninstall button on the market app is greyed out, and in the application browser it fails to uninstall (astro).
i need to install the 0.3 version. how do i get rid of the newer version? thanks in advance.
You can't install any pre-installed apps using the market, astro, or anything else really.
Do you have adb setup? You'll want to do:
Code:
adb shell
mount -o rw,remount dev/block/mtdblock3 /system
cd /system/app
Hit enter
Then...
Code:
ls <-- lists all installed applications in the /system/app folder
Find google voice's apk (probably named something like Voice.apk, or GoogleVoice.apk, then type
Code:
rm GoogleVoice.apk (or whatever the name of the apk is)
Also, I think the app root explorer on the market (~$3.00) can do it for you as well, without all the hassle.
If you want to install your version of it using adb, then get the apk on your computer (somewhere easily accessible like the root of your hard drive) and do this.
Code:
adb install c:/(apkname).apk
Titanium Backup will also uninstall just about anything.
Thanks for the tips... i forgot about titanium backup, if that doesn't work then i'll try adb... I have to get the sdk and drivers installed after a wipe anyways.

So I installed auto wipe then backed up and tested the app. It sure works... But then I realized that since I made the backup AFTER installing. Every time I restore it wipes. So I tried putting it into recovery and loaded up ADB but whenever I try to access /data/app to uninstall the APK I get this.
Code:
/sbin/sh: cd: can't cd to app
Any help is appreciated.
Oh and yes I am root and I'm running CWM 4.0.0.2
Hi,
accidentally I lost superuser access at all after update process.
Executing the following way:
Tried to replace SuperSU 1.00 with SuperSU 1.04 but installation failed, so I opened old SuperSU app and chosen "Cleanup and prepare for update to newer version"
It asked to reboot, update and reboot again
I rebooted, installed SuperSU 1.04 and rebooted again, but now I can't start the app at all. It says "SU Binary not installed and SuperSU can't be installed. This is a problem." Then closes
Please help how to get SuperSU back to full operation. Thanks!

This is not working. Installed Superuser from GP, installed SuperSU 1.04 -> went fine
Reboot
Running Superuser, it opens but says nothing
Running SuperSU, it aborts with same error
If I run any app requiring root access, it fails.
Now I'm stuck here
Uninstalled Superuser
Uninstalled SuperSU
Fully unrooted using Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v18 (x)
Reboot
Rooted back using Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v18 (normal mode) -> Script finished successfull but no Superuser app
Therefore I install Superuser manually from GP again (success), still no root access

Bin4ry
Try to unroot using flashtool (there is an option under one of the menus) and then root the way you did using Bin4ry's tool

I was impatient so I flashed clean stock ROM .75
The prob with Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v18 is that it still couldnot make root on clean ROM, only Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry-XP did (on old kernel). What ROMs actually is Bin4ry v18 supporting?
Now on SuperSU Pro 1.04 already :good: but was pain
For the next time, how to update properly SuperSU without struggling this hassle?
Several more questions:
If I have both SuperSU and Superuser can those both coexist or better to uninstall Superuser?
Can I update SuperSU Pro by SuperSU ? Why is SuperSU Pro only half a size of SuperSU (not Pro)?
And finally can I safely restore Titanium Backup system data from 6.1.1.B.1.54 on .75?
I was uninstalling bloatware from my samsung galaxy victory after rooting, and in the process, accidentally deleted the play store. I re-downloaded the latest .apk for the play store, installed it, and when I open it, it crashes and says "unfortunately, google play store has stopped". I looked up tp see if there were any solutions, and many sources said to gp to settings>app. management>google play>force stop, clear data, clear cache. that didnt work. I tried installing older play store apk's, all giving the same error. any other possible solutions?
I think perhaps you deleted the odex as well..
Press Thanks if you like my Work/Advice
did you install the apk to /system or to /data?
the playstore apk belongs into /system/app not /data/app
whats the odex? and hiw do I change the installation directory?
-new to android & rooting so I still havent looked up all the terminology so sorry-
I dont think it has to do with odex files.
change the installation directory als follows:
first uninstall the market app and copy the market apk to your sdcard.
I'll use the filename "market.apk" to refer to it in this description
Then use "adb shell" or some on device console emulator and issue the following commands:
1. "su" become root
2. "mount -o remount,rw /system" to remount /system read-write
3. "cp /mnt/sdcard/market.apk /system/app" to copy the market apk into the right system folder if it fails try "/sdcard/market.apk" instead of "/mnt/sdcard/market.apk"
4. "reboot"
After your reboot you should see an android message stating to update some system files or so.
If your device is fully booted, try to use your market app. It should work now.
Hope this helps...
After debloating i was stupid and removed the official "downloads" application so the miui updater keeps stopping. Could someone upload an apk for it? Using the latest miui with android 10.
Or if anyone knows what application that can cause the crash (i know it's something i removed) please do tell. Thanks!
Although there is no detailed information about the problem, my guess is that he can see the apk work at the following link.
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/xiaomi-inc/system-app-updater/system-app-updater-9-6-25-463-release/
I tried that one. But it says "app not installed" when i try to install it.

How did you debloat? Really removing (rm -rf) or just deactivating? (pm uninstall --user 0)
To revert the pm uninstall command, you can do the following:
Code:
adb shell cmd package install-existing <name of package>
If nothing works you just have to flash system new, so just download fastboot ROM, extract it and run
Code:
fastboot flash system system.img
and you can restart.

Thanks for your answer. No i used the "debloat" magisk module using this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/poco-f1/how-to/miui-10-debloat-systemless-tested-t3839641
But i also removed some stuff on my own which prolly made the problem appear.

Did u try it?
Read from here if something breaks
If it breaks the system or causes boot-loop which shouldn't be the case as I'm using the same device and thoroughly tested it on 8.9.11, Don't worry! It's damn easy to reinstall all of them in one click by TWRP.
Did you download the Magisk Mount script which I asked to earlier ? If yes, just flash it with TWRP and the magisk will be mounted and accessible in TWRP file explorer. If you didn't download the script earlier, Just adb sideload it in recovery.
After mounting the Magisk in TWRP > Click on Advanced and go to file explorer.
Then delete the app folder of the system app you've uninstalled in /Magisk/terminal_debloater/system/app (/sbin/.core/img/terminal_debloater/system/app) or /Magisk/terminal_debloater/system/priv-app (/sbin/.core/img/terminal_debloater/system/priv-app) then that should undo it.
I got it when i read that thread. I think all ur apps which had debloated still on ur phone (they just were disable). Maybe im wrong (i dont think so xD) but u just try. Good luck.
try this :
1 download termux app & run
2 type su & enter
3 type debloat & enter
4 choose the option
hope can help u !
