What parts on a Smartphone? (Question for fellow Vibrant users) - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

OK fellow Vibrant users. With the situation that we are in with no update to Froyo (Talking about the official one) and just the extreme frustration that it brings, I want to know what type of parts goes into a phone.

Developers: Use light sensor to turn phone on?

Is it possible to query the light sensor, when the phone is "turned off" (suspended)?
It would be great just to take the phone out of the pocket and its on. Cause i'm using a blackstone, the power button is very small and it would help me a lot.
Please enlighten me
very few features are avabile when in suspented mode
and 3th party hardware as far as i know is not one of them
basicly device off all power to light sensor is off
same thing with something as basic as sdcard storage and sdio features
Dear Reflex and all!!!
in case you look for a light sensor handler, please check out the AGEYE.DE site.I don t remember well, but i think it was the ageye profile program. It takes care of light sensor built in the HTC or else!!

[Q][4.1.2] Samsung T959 - Stock Browser's Quick Controls don't work in Landscape

Hi all. I've posted this query a few times in the Vibrant's various subforums, but haven't received any helpful responses.
Quick Controls work fine in in portrait mode, but in they don't work at all in landscape mode.
To pre-empt any suggestions about this issue being charging related, Quick Controls don't work in landscape whether or not the phone is plugged in, full battery or mostly discharged.
I've noticed this issue on CM9 and other ICS ROMs, and now it appears on the JB ROM I'm using (SlimBean 2.8). Does anyone have any insight or even a possible fix? This isn't a huge issue, and I actually prefer browsing in portrait, but it's tedious to bring up Quick Controls in portrait mode. The phone was released during 2.2/2.3 and swiping in from the edge wasn't considered when they designed the phone. The bezel is very close to the region you need to swipe in from, and I have to lightly and precisely played a tiny bit of my finger on the bezel and slowly (often repeatedly) try to bring up Quick Controls. I've used my friends' newer phones, which have a less relieved bezel and Quick Controls is far better implemented for this reason.

[Q] zte valet magnet and rotation sensor questions

I don't know if this is exactly where I should post this but.. I have a zte valet (inexpensive android phone that tracfone is selling) It seems pretty decent for the price. Running 4.1.1
It seems to have a ak8962 magnetic field and rotation Orientation sensor. Using a few software programs like 'my android sensors' show these two sensors but they don't return any data.
3 questions.
-How the heck is my screen rotating if the orientation sensor doesn't return data...
-Are the sensors on chip? or is there a separate sensing module that just isn't installed?
-Could this be a android thing - not the right driver or something? ie.. Is it fixable?
I have done a few searches but am coming up with nothing.
Thanks!
sam

[Q] Android CAM/DVR devices

I am wondering if there is any android based vehicle security systems. My ideal would be the following...
- Under dash main unit with SATA HADD and SD, SIM and GPS
- Windscreen mount display with touch screen or side button controls
- Capability of 4 cameras - front, rear, dash, cab
- Motion sense to reduce power and space requirements
- Alarm system integration with Phone home capability
With SIM and GPS capability, this could alert me and send me location info and pictures from cams.
My mirror does a lot of that. I will send you a link. It has remote control access but only 2 cams, 12 inch touch screen, voice activated, GPS, hot spot, wifi blue tooth

Controling RGB light with the MCU

Hello,
First, i want to apologize for my bad english.
I am no developer neither hardware nor software, all i do is tinkering around with some arduino stuff.
My Headunit features RGB backlit buttons on the front panel.
I would like to have everything in my car RGB which isnt the problem since its only replacing the stock bulbs with rgb leds.
To controll them i want to use an adruino pro mini which is controlled by the headunit. and there is the problem.
The RGB setting is handled by android and given to the mcu which handles the led controlling (i guess)
So the best solution would be to somehow let the arduino read from the bus between the two and that way let it know the values for RGB.
My crude solution is to simply add 3 optocouplers (1 for each channel) and get the infomation that way.
What do you think?
