What's the best easy to capture the screen of an app on a streak running official un-Rooted 318?
You have to use the android sdk then to get screen grabs. Why not just root it?

I rooted my streak, I wanted to remove the stage widgets and bloat.
I was using system app remover from the market, when this happned...
I think i removed something impoortant, because now whenever it tries to go to the home screen, it just sits blank and none of the buttons work...
and it locks on the dell splash unless I do a factory reset.
other things work though, the lock screen, emails, and I'm assuming anything else still installed, but, the home screen is gone.
I don't know what to do now, how can I fix it?
Try installing a different launcher such as ADW or LauncherPro from Android Market.

I removed part of the startup wizard, thinkning it was the wanky swype how to...

install launcherPRO
unroot
go to dell official download page and download.
does that sound like a good plan?
To go back to stock ROM, you will also need to flash stock recovery. Look in the development forums for the recovery image.
That aside, your plan sounds good. You don't need to unroot to go back to stock.

Sorry but I have not managed to install this on my streak, after trying to install it just restarts and makes youtube and the camera app go black and white, to fix this just do a restart (I was stuck with this for a few days until i reckoned I would try restarting)

I'm starting to think of this phone like a computer with a lousy OS installation. I reboot after every app installation.
I don't currently have this driver installed as I just wiped the phone and am still putting it back together so to speak, but when I did, I just left the defaults and I noticed that my game seemed a little (just a little) visually sharper and maybe a little smoother.

I've managed to get it to work, got some of the nvidia tegra 2 games working, got the solitaire one, the pinball, and samurai 2 vengeance one working. Would say though the hd version of samurai is exactly the same as the normal version no better graphics at all just bigger buttons on the screen.
Anyone manage to get that bang bang racing to work? after install it just says phone doesn't meet minimum requirements for game.
What settings did you use on the games

Is there any solution to settle the black and white camera and Movies app?
I used Simple Streak 1.2 and StreakDroid 1.9.1 and both of them still get that trouble.
I've tried many ways you guys comment but not working.

what black and white issue are you talking about? I'm running stock 351 and i get no black and white anywhere. The settings I used for the game was, I just enabled the Nvidia plugin and it worked for me.

I got it when i lauch the camera apps, it just display only black and white screen, it seem like greyscale mod and the Movie app is too. When I uninstall the CF3D, it's OK. But I still want use CF3D cause some games in my streak need it.
I'm running StreakDroid 1.9.1 and Simple Streak 1.2 before.
What should i do?

IVe got the same issue too. Black and white on movies even in game movies don't look right. Camera display is also black and white evn on vignette. Strangely the photos taken are in color....

The only way I found to fix this issue that I have to uninstall CF3D driver and then remove it before make a reboot.
So can't play some favorite games
I also have this bug with black&white photo/video in apps after installing CF3D driver.
Havent figured that out either I wanted to use chainfire to play games but the other issues aren't worth it....maybe one of the debs can figure it out and incorporate it into a rom with the right settings

Not holding my breath for this one but at least they have finally released something. Read there were a couple of hacks working but then needed 2.3

But to answer your question, yes, video call works if you install Gingerstreak and the hacked apk. However, keep in mind Gingerstreak is not yet a reliable ROM. My wife's Streak on stock 354 does not show the video call option.
Sticking to the stock rom so I will keep my fingers crossed that this is the start of things to come and they will eventually support 2.2.

Not gonna happen... hopefully DJ_Steve will get GingerStreak stable but Skype won't be releasing a version for Froyo
Hi Skype video is working on my dell streak running stock 2.2.2. and rooted with gingerbreak - BUT only rear camera works - still its a start and if that was fixed it would all be fine - video and sound are normal. Used the apk for the froyo version that is here on the forum
Try ooVoo...it is the only app which allows android to PC video calling. But supported on very few devices.

hi everyone, every time when i start up swiftkey it would prompt me that i have downloaded the wrong version and would not let me configure. is there any way to get around this?
Strange, I downloaded the tablet version last night, installed without a hitch.
Maybe uninstall/reinstall?
I had the phone version installed. It wouldn't let me change any settings and was giving me issues. Yesterday I downloaded an update, and I'm using the phone version on my Streak. I don't see the reason to pay for the tablet version when I paid for the phone version and it works fine.
I had same problem with phone version until i got an update but later i paid for the tablet version too just to use split keyboard option.

The latest version of x-tablet (phone) has a split keyboard for 5" screens
ever since the last update (came up today) my keyboard seems to have blown up to cover half of the screen, instead of the roughly 2/3 it used to cover. it makes it a pain to type while in landscape, because it covers up most selection options in underlying apps.
anyone else experiencing this? any way to get it back to the previous state? (i dont have any backups of this app)

Hi guys, im still very new with my dell venue 8 android i tablet and recently i updated it to android 4.4 but since then my screen gets black, and to make it work again y have to lock and then unlock to display the screen again, there's any fix for this, or there's a way to downgrade from android 4.4 to 4.3 and if this is possible can you explain me how to do that? including make a backup? Thanks

Is there a specific app you're in when the screen goes black? When I first upgraded to 4.4, a few of the games I played would cause the screen to go black. I read that I had to delete the app and re-install or see if the app has been updated to 4.4. After I re-installed a couple of my games, the screen hasn't gone black again.
