LCD Density change --> FAIL ! - Optimus One, P500, V General

So... the change of LCD Density failed xD
Such a bad time, right at the time i was about to sleep, damm it!
LG P500 unbranded "C" firmware with stock, rooted 2.2 [Froyo]
so far, i know that LCD Density changer, changes a value inside proc.amp ... so that file might be "corrupted" or not supported and my cellphone cannot boot now!
[Stuck at android boot logo after LG's splash]
The phone opens up normally, being charged over USB or stock charger.
1) is there any way i can put the original proc.amp file on system?
2) i suppose i just lost all my settings, sms, apps if 1) cannot be done, right?
[totally stock LG P500, rooted only! no custom things, flashes, etc etc]
Im in need of help here, so make it as noob friendly as it gets...
thanx in advance!

Try to connect to phone via adb shell (how-to about adb look on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=900905 ) Try to connect during start up time to time. If this will not work, you will have to do update via KDZ and you will lost every data, which was not stored in SDcard.

Thanks for fast answer buddy!
Adb didnt work, so i used that guide for bricked phones succesfully!
Aparrently there is much work to do now, reinstalling all i had... but nevermind, we learn from mistakes

This is reason why I bought Titanium Backup - in pro version you can do backups automatically at night. It saves my ass many times and I had my money back after first usage.

Yes indeed, never thought that things will be that bad, so ... here we are now

Custom ROM for Galaxy Ace: discontinued, sorry

Hey guys,
I've discontinued my work on the custom ROM for the galaxy ace, due to the fact that the only person who I knew, who had this phone, actually broke his phone (because it fell or something)..
Also I do not have enough time to work on it properly, so I hope someone else can continue my work (Peeter123?) and open a new topic concerning this...
Intentionally left blank
Looks good, will try to help if I can. Also: Wifi definitely needs fixing. Constant crashes in std samsung build.
Maybe it would be nice to build in ext3 and ext4 support.
I will focus on speeding up the fw first, maybe do some kernel hacks later..
Are you running the new XEKB1 firmware from samfirmware . com already? If so, could you supply me with a copy of your /system folder? Im missing some files/dirs from the fw at the moment..
Thanks!
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
Sure no problem, I will get to that this afternoon
Ps. I'm indeed running the latest firmware (S5830XEKB1)
Will there be a simplified safe step by step tutorial in the near future on how to use this ROM? (and if it ****s up how to restore to factory default or so) I tried messing around with ROM manager with my first model and it bricked so I'm really careful with the new one I got now (yes I tricked the people at the store to get me a new one).
You can restore firmware with odin relatively easily. Even if the main firmware is ****ed up. How bad was it bricked? And was it possible to turn your phone on in download mode?

Yes, before I post the first version of this ROM I will include a guide on how to succesfully flash this ROM and how to fix a broken/bricked Galaxy Ace again... reading through Peters posts (on this and other topics) hopefully he can help me with producing this..
There is no topic for Galaxy Ace! Why? I think there shold be a lot of developer...

What files do you need. Whole /system folder is a tad big
NVM uploading to my webserver now, I'll send you a PM with the link.

It wanted to reboot so I could back-up my current firmware, but it never did, all I ever managed to get was taking it into a 'connecting..' state within Kies when I used one of the three button tricks but nothing appeared on screen.
No matter what combination I tried or what kind of method, the screen stayed black.
Hmm yea that's what I feared. I guess you messed up your bootloader. A broken bootloader is unrecoverable. Everything else is fixable.
See first post!

First of all, I do not own a galaxy ace. Secondly, please dont post this in this topic, use other topics for basic questions, since it does not concern my ROM, especially since my ROM is not published online yet.
When it is, I will provide help for problems with my ROM in this topic, but not with others ROMs, sorry..
Good luck anyway!

Okay im not that bad for a person, so let me give you some advice:
*------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------*
Flashing your phone usually means putting leaked software on your phone and thus could potentially
break the rights you have that if it breaks down you get a new one.. so its up to you to proceed..
Before Flashing, make sure you have backed-up all your data, otherwise you'll risk losing it.
Secondly, try to read through some forums/sections (maybe about other phones) to know what
it is you are going to do.
Third, install the right drivers for your phone make sure that KIES is not running on your computer!
Shut it down, shut it down, please do so!.. You just needed to install it to get the Galaxy Ace Drivers,
but the rest of the program is only for people who don't know what to do with their phones,
if you are one of them: Stop reading and be satisfied with what you got, or wait for Kies updates!
*------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------*
Okay, now for the flashing:
Make sure your battery is charged all the way up to 100%, if not you can **** up your battery stats (which are restored after charging it up and playing with it for a couple of days, but nevermind)..
Before connecting it to your computer, shut it down and pull the battery!
Also, make sure that your computer wont be killed/shutdown because your laptop battery is empty or your little brother plays with electricity or something, and try to close as many applications on your computer as possible, just to be sure..
Proceed to the flashing, following these guidelines:
Firmware Update Steps, follow the exact order!:
*-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------*
1. Run Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 Downloader
2. Select OPS file : Cooper_v1.0.ops in the OPS field.
3.
- Click BOOT button and select: APBOOT_S5830xxxxx_xxx...._user_low_true.tar.md5
- Click Phone button and select: MODEM_S5830xxxxx_xxx...._REV03.tar.md5
- Click PDA button and select: CODE_S5830xxxxx_xxx...._REV03_user_low_true.tar.md5
- Click CSC button and select: CSC_S5830xxxxxx_xxx......_REV03_user_low_true.tar.md5
4. Put your phone into Download Mode: Press middle Key ( OK key ) + Power + Volume Down
5. Connect USB cable to your phone and the program must read the Com number it takes.
6. Click Start button and the update process will start.
7. Do not touch or remove anything till the device rebooted and you can see PASS word on the program!!
*---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------*
And that's it, that's all I can do for you at the moment. Maybe next week I'll have some more expierence with flashing the galaxy ace, as of now I have only flashed my Galaxy s (a million times) and my Samsung Star (three times ), so I'm not an expert on flashing a Galaxy Ace.
Ugh, was hoping for the ROM instructions
Anyway, I'm fairly new to Android and ROM's, I rooted my phone already successfully so I could get things like Adblocker for apps etc.
I understand and have been told that ROM's are supposedly the 'better' firmwares out there when they are designed for a phone, thus saving things like battery life and performance, is this true or is this really ROM depended?
I'm mainly looking for things like extending the battery life of my phone (performance speed is way enough already with stock firmware), would this be a good reason to use a custom ROM or shouldn't I bother?
Did you tried everthing in ACE..just reconfirming...
You can increase battery life by disabling data network when you dont use it and by removing all those fancy widgets from your desktop launcher, they eat up battery juice.. also, install advanced task killer froyo from market and kill your running apps that you dont use, set security to low

Tested a few days with and without ATK. There was no difference. Much better battery life with Juice Defender.

Well you mest up with rom manager without any knowledge about it. AFAIK Your phone is now fully brick. You need to replace your motherboard(GOOD LUCK WITH WARRANTY )
Sent from my GT-S5830 using Tapatalk
If Flashing and Unbrick not working, what ever you do or how you try, then you probably messed up your boot ROM and it´s BRICKED. SORRY FOR YOU, but always, I MEAN ALWAYS read and search the forum 10 TIMES, before you start up messing your phone. It can very yeasely BRICKED.
I hope you can change it from service for free. Say that you trying restore to FACTORY setting(just make up some story[believable], why you was need to restore to FACTORY settings). Maybe they belive you and change your BRICKED phone to new one. Thumbs up for you and dont do anything stupid next time!!!
P1tt187, just out of curiosity - how did you even do that?
When I tried to use ROM Manager it told me to install the correct drivers, but Galaxy Ace isn't supported, so I just resigned. Which drivers did you use?
P1tt187 My friend had the same thing, he used a ROM Manager to back up the ROM in the ACE. Identical symptoms. Only the Samsung service will help. Tell him that you turned off phone and not turn on (Phone) . Samsung Service exchanged him motherboard in ACE (on guarantee).
Galaxy Ace not supported yet by ROM manager! Sorry for you but search the forum(or just GOOGLE it) before trying something first. There is always GOOGLE to helping(if you not found it here). Just USE it!
I have rooted and customized all my phones(HTC, SAMSUNG), JAILBREAKED AND UNLOCKED all my IPhones(3G and 4G), just waste some time, for GOOGLE! But you must be patient. Everything is not coming in first search(but everything is there, TAKE THE TIME and be sure for right thing).
CHEERS!
Hey,
I just have the same problem, but I didn't touch to the ROM or anything else
I just rooted my phone with SuperOneClick, turn it off and it never turn on again...
Since my phone is rooted, I don't know if the warranty is lost, but I think so...
I already tried to remove the battery and then put it back while holding ok + volume down + power, but it didn't work, the screen stays completely black...
I'll let my phone rest a few days and then send it to Orange while I pray --'
Any other idea guys ?

[Q] Am I Bricked/SoftBricked, Or lose my OS ? Please help.thanks

Please be patient,& Gentle with me, I'm new here,,, (TY) Hi, I have a Pantech P9060 (old I know ) Android 2.3.4 , Gingerbread( Stock Rom). It's rooted. It will turn on, load in the boot screen- and stop there, and if I touch the power/menu keys, it will start the loop acting boot process, without re-starting the phone , just continuous boot screen. I have changed the boot screen probably 3/4 times from the original AT&T screen using Jimmy Rummel apps, Rom Installer . I've tried returning back from backup, Titanium Pro, I backed up to google drive as well, but regardless I can't seem to reset to factory( which I've done before), or even update, Nothing.. It's so frustrating. I've searched these forums inside out for a solution as to not bother you guys with my old phone issues, but I have to admit, I need help with this. I don't think it's hard bricked, I'm thinking I may have flashed the wrong Rom( im not sure though) trying to upgrade from 2.3.4 .. Not positive though. I sure hope there's someone to help me here, It wont connect to the PC syncing, Pantech PC Suite, yet my pc shows the phone in Device Manager and Computer. So I'm hoping I've done something simple, :/ stupid,,but simple. Anyone help me out ? Rooted Apps & System info/apps on my phone are in a File Manager > xposed, bootmanager, clockworkmod, rom mod installer pro, Titanium Pro, and others...Can it someway be just flashed to a new rom of some version? :crying: Thanks in advance.......

Don't think that there are any custom updates. I found this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-IOQJJCSKC4 - Sorry it's not in English, but it's the only thing I found that actually had a download of the rom. Even Pantech doesn't seem to have anything besides the manual and drivers for it.

If the device powers up but is not able to boot into the operating system, that is referred to as a soft brick.

your right, it's not English, therefore I'm outta luck on that. haha although I still watched and tried to see if just maybe I'd catch some insight from it.. but thank you for sharing it with me..

Please, help me.

I'm interested in running a custom Rom on my mpcs LG f6 (ms500). I'm a part timer at this, my understanding of code is devastatingly deficient.
I have a an l9 and another f6 that won't even turn on and I'm wondering where, even, to begin.
All are mpcs.
All three, including the one I'm writing this on presently, were/are rooted.
An update took out the non-working f6, and the l9 was my bad.
I'm now on a rooted f6 running battery booster pro, overclocked with freedom kernal, with roehsoft ram expander doubling my ram to 1608.
I realize my circumstances are all over the place, but, if anyone has the genuine benevolence to help me where they can; my gratitude will be unquantifiable.

I'll give a shot at trying to help you with the L9 but I'm going to need some details about what happened. :/
Thank you AshIndigo
L9 rooted and running system tuner pro. I turned on the oem battery function, kernal, doo-hicky (highly technical terminology). The unit ceased recognizing the battery after reboot. It stated, at boot, to insert oem battery and will not take a charge.
I'm considering a wipe and a new bootlaoder with a custom Rom if possible, but I'll settle with just getting it working.

Thats a new one. But what modes can you get into. S/W, fastboot, recovery, the wipe combination? If you can get into s/w mode just use the lg mobile tool and that should fix it. Otherwise we may need to reflash the phone. and is your bootloader unlocked?
It doesn't power up in the slightest. And it won't charge.
Bootloader was not unlocked, I'm still trying to wrap my skull jelly around that. I'm thinking flash might be the best option, but I'd prefer to preserve the data (not likely if flashed). I've downloaded LG flash tool, but the manual data entry is a mystery, excluding imei and serial.

Alright I'm presuming s/w mode doesnt work but if it does then that would be nice. Next thing is to try fastboot. Here is a link to a fastboot for the l9

If you manage to get into fastboot. We can reflash things. Truth to be told I dont know if we reflash we might have to wipe the device. :/
I've resolved myself to things being what they are.

Downloaded, followed instructions. Device booted once and quit while playing around with it, consistent with initial failure as I recall (if only vaguely), now on s/w update screen. Says please wait while upgrading.
Update:
Can enter s/w update. Now takes charge, will likely be 100% by the time you read this.
Lastly, can power on but powers off after entering screen unlock code.
Thank you again AshIndigo.
After some more dabbling, I've made it past the lock screen. The result is a message " please use genuine LG battery" before the unit shuts down and goes into what might might questionably be a bootloop. It's the system tuner pro app, set to start on start-up, that's the thorn in my side.
What are your orders captain?

I ran the command, with what appears to be success. It seems though, the kernal remains intact.

Ok so before we try to re-flash the kernel. Lets just try the lg mobile support tool. If that doesn't work then heres instructions
1. If you have the p760 then heres the stock kernel
http://www.mediafire.com/download/87i322233ev36k8/stock-kernel.zip
3. Download it
4. extract the boot.img from the zips and put it into the "yours" folder in the fastboot folder
5. Get into fastboot
6. Make sure the device is connected by typing "fastboot devices"
(It should look like this) http://cdn.teamandroid.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/fastboot-devices-600x302.jpg
6a. Pray to Google
7. type "fastboot flash boot boot.img"
8. Pray again.
If you don't have the p760 then tell me which device you have so I can get the kernel

It's a P769(bk). Not that the color makes a difference. It's also a T-mo, not mpcs. If that matters.

Alright so there are 2 options right now.
1. You resign the kernel or wait for me to get on a windows computer so I can resign it.
2. You unlock your bootloader.
If you choose option 1 then and you want to try then here's the link.

1. Follow the manual instructions in the post except just do it for the boot.img and flash that instead.
"fastboot flash boot boot_bumped.img"
If you choose option 2 then here's a link with instructions. (My phone is perma-locked so I never got to try this)

Android doesn't boot + app crashing

Dear all,
Please advise me with following problem.
I checked the forum but but didn't find same issue.
I have Lenovo P780, Android 4.4.2, assembly VIBEUI_V2.0_1447_7.48.1_ST_P780_baralajbi.
The thing is, that after restarting phone MOSTLY doesn't reboot (I must try it approx 20 times to reboot properly). Either the LENOVO logo depicts on the display or display becomes gray. Sometimes phone reboots, but after inserting PIN the message "Unfortunately System UI has Stopped." starts appearing in loop (each approx one second), so it's impossible to do anything on the phone. (And after another several tries it reboots normally. When it reboots NORMALLY, it plays starting melody with the logo - other times not.)
Before this unhappy state, problems started gradually by frequent crashing various apps (e.g. system web browser; "Unfortunately app XY has Stopped.") and by spontaneous restarts. I tried cache deletion and factory reset, but problems persist. It means that some apps crash after launching them AND phone can restart anytime and then it can take maybe one hour to boot Android properly.
Only solution that comes to my mind is to reinstall Android (it's question which RAM to use). But before that I'd like to ask for potential advice and experiences - what could be the cause and how to solve the problem. By the way, to actualize Android is also impossible, because the app crashes Deleting cache in case of particular apps also doesn't work.
Thank you in advance!

3. Read twice every tutorial and after reading twice try to flash all those things!
4. Reading twice is not optional!
5. After every install do at least one boot. Example: One boot after flash, One boot after instal MIUI.
6. After installing MIUI and boot at least once go to wifi and connect your phone. After that go to updater and look for update. Install update, boot at least once.
7. After the update is installed you are ready to use the phone.

Hi stympy,
Thank you for your answer.
I'm just not 100% sure, which version (CN or ROW) should I use. I'm not able to find answer on internet. I have chinese letters on the battery and somehow I remember that it should mean that CN version is correct. Is it so please?
Thanks!

Hi. I used CN version of the firmware and worked well.
Like: all things are... Made in China... today...
Soo... I know for sure that the ONLY difference between CN and ROW phones are the modems.
In all countries except China phones are sold for ROW version of the firmware.
Conclusion: you can use both of them.
But do not use ROW install firmware over CN base firmware. Use CN on CN and ROW on ROW.
For modem software you will find a post in General section named: How about some modems.
Read the tutorial from there.
Good luck.

Yes,
that is what I mean. I don't know whether my base firmaware is CN or NOW. I bought this P780 from smaller eshop several years ago. Sometimes there appears a notice in chinese language, looking like clothes advertisement.
(Here https://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-p780/help/row-cn-how-to-check-t3333532
you answered that man that he has CN firmware. I have also VIBEUI......baraljabi.)
Do these things mean I have CN base firmware?
Thank you!

Thank you.
I downloaded CN, read some tutorials, installed USB drivers from https://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-p780/development/p780-row-s226-flash-flashtool-t2909202 (I have no idea whether MTK_USB__Driver installed and where, after install I cant find any change) and tried to run SP_Flash_Tool_v5.1352.01. But the tool doesn't recognize my phone. I have Windows XP.
When I turn phone on and connect, I am able to access both SD Card and Phone memory via PC, but when I turn it off, press Download in SPFT and connect the phone, it just starts to charge and nothing other happens. In the log there is repeatedly written "Scaning USB port failed!".
I spent quite a lot time looking for some solution. Do you please have an idea how to actualize the firmware?
Thanks!

Look here
On post #19.
Tell me if this dont work !
Thank you. All works well up to point C.8. After I connect the phone I get error
BROM ERROR: S_FT_ENABLE_DRAM_FAIL (4032).
[EMI] Enable DRAM Failed!
[HINT]: Please check your load matches to your target which is to be downloaded.
As a solution I found trying another firmware (or scatter file). Now I used CN+ 4GB VIBEUI_V2.0.rar. Do you please know what can be reason for this error?
(Also since this error I'm not able to turn the phone in any way.)
Thanks

Are you sure that your phone is 4Gb? Maybe is 8Gb? I am asking this just to be sure! If you know for sure that is 4Gb you should try SP Flash Tool v. 3! Sometimes, I don't know why, it works with this version of SP Flash Tool.
And none more thing.... try to quote me. I'll answer more faster.
Good luck.

Now I am not able to check it, but 99% I have 4GB.
One thing I didn't write before - after that unsuccessful try phone looks like to be uncharged - even if battery was nearly fully charged before. Interesting.
Anyways - after trying v.3 the process ended successfully. But after that phone is still dead - I can't power it on. I send the logs attached.
Maybe most interesting is message repeating in SP_FLASH_TOOL.log:
ERROR: OperationIndicator::QueryDADLHint(): da_dl_type(??) error, could not find DA download hint!(.\OperationIndicator.cpp,98)
Do you please understand this?
I admit I googled it just a little
Thank you.

Sooo....
Ok. You must tell me if you still have the original box of the phone!
If you have it look on the side and see if your phone is made after 03.2014 or on 03.2014.
If the answer is yes you must repeat the flashing procedure with the new preloader.
Here is the new preloader.
Replace the preloader in your folder and delete any *.ini file if you have one there!
Good Luck!

OK, at home I will try to find it.
But I don't understand under which condition I need to use new preloader - if phone is made on 03.2014?

On and after 03.2014.
My advice is to use the new preloader anyway.

Good,
it works now. Thank you!
So, now I should install newest TWRP and MIUI. Before it I'd like to ask some things to be sure I understand what I do.
That new TWRP is just because of MIUI, without it the current version of TWRP would be good enough?
Why need I to install MIUI? Is it more stable than current software? (Now phone looks like being usable again.)
After having the newest TWRP, shall I follow by making backup, copying the MIUI files to SD card and install via TWRP? (there are tutorials, but still I'm not sure about these basic things).
Thank you

You are right. The old Kitkat software becomes unstable after a period of time.
MIUI is still under development. You will get updates a period of time.
Latest TWRP have less bugs.
And he. Before one major change I recommend a full backup.... this backup is for.... just in case...
If you follow the steps there, you will get the perfect results. The steps are tested and redone over the last years.
If you have MIUI questions we will move our q&a in the right post... MIUI post i mean....
Good luck.

OK. I installed MIUI, rebooted and then installed also kernel. Is there big difference beetwen this kernel and kernel included in MIUI? (If you know.)
You wrote "6. After installing MIUI and boot at least once go to wifi and connect your phone. After that go to updater and look for update. Install update, boot at least once." When I try to install update it never starts to download. (It writes "Waiting for connection" in "Downloaded" section.) Do you please know what can be the cause?
Additionally, for sure: Can't that update overwrite the new kernel?
Anyways THANK YOU!!!
My phone is alive again.

For the part with kernel... I never thought to look for that...
For the part with update... i think... something is wrong... it seems to me that your phone is reacting like is on mobile data.
This is not a big thing... try to go to download icon, enter, go to download settings an see what is going on there...
Sometimes, I don't know why, the phone react like is on mobile data... when is on wifi...
After an while or after one reboot the phone will download the update.
I have to apologise to you, but what I am writing now is from my experiences with this phone. I do not have the phone no more.
I have now Lenovo P1 Pro.
Good luck.

OK, it looks like system update shouldn't overwrite custom kernel. Anyways the update doesn't download (it tries to download to phone memory instead of SD card, although I set it, but still there should be enough space in phone memory; neither I wasn't successfull when downloading it directly on PC).
I will wait and see.
So, thank you for all your help!!
I consider this thing as closed.
