I want to tru to update to 318 again and see if it runs better this time for me.
What is the best way to update ... use OTA or download it to sd card ?
Doesn't matter which way you do it. Both ways will work fine.

The OTA version is easy to do, if your running an AT&T locked Streak I would recommend updating vis QDL Tool to the 2.2 pre-release and using the OTA option to get the release 318 rom.. Just do a quick search in Q & A, this process was explained a couple times now. Good Luck!

Hey everyone I just flash the new T595UVJ14 firmwire from the developers forums, and I just wanted to know if I would still be able to get froyo update over the air when it become available, or do I have to flash it back to the stock rom?

Most likely the devs in this forum will have froyo ready for you before the ota comes out anyway. If they dont someone should have a flashable version within a day or so of the ota anyway.

Well an OTA of Froyo isn't coming anytime soon from the looks of it.
Regardless of that you have to keep in mind HOW these OTA updates are pushed. They're done in batches, so when an OTA goes live it could take anywhere from HOURS to WEEKS before your particular phone would be one of the ones in a given batch push.
In all likelihood you'd be able to get the OTA update here as a flashable recovery or Odin3 image long before you'd get it from the carrier.
Thanx for the response. I hope that when 2.2 froyo's out I should be able to flash it.
eugene has the froyo 2.2. check out his work on the development section..
In the repairtool tutorial it says to hold the volume up button ( button closest to the headphone jack). The volume up button on my Streak is the button beside it to the right. Is my phone backwards or something? Am I just not reading it properly?
Its the one closest to the headphone jack. Technically backwards until you flash 2.2. Then it'll be correct.

Thanks. I'm a real noob at this. Now that I have been able to complete clockwork recovery I think I'm ready to try to do this. Still reading to try and find out which method I have to use now.
I agree wit you
i posted this in another thread, there really isnt any thinking involved when deciding which method to use i believe. qdl is by far the easiest method, heres the info you will need

i found that THIS thread helped me with what i needed to install on my computer to be able to update
then i used the main tutorial HERE to get to a prerelease version of froyo
from there you can use the "next steps" guide in the above link to get you to either an official release of 2.2 or to dj_steves froyo 1.6.1 which u can find in the development thread

None of the tutorials shows rogers 7921 to anything.i found one post showing that I can go to 309 recovery and then direct to 318 update rom.i have gotten as far as trying to install the update rom from my sd card but the screen just stays blank.i don't know how long I am suppose to leave it to install or what it should look like when it is installing.
rogers 7921 build
Rooted
Clockwork recovery
Adb drivers installed
fastboot recovery complete
318 on sd card
Any advise welcome.

Thanks, I gave it another try. I was having issues with the ADB driver to get the QDL to work. My other steps before got the right driver installed and the QDL worked this time. i'm on 2.2 Baseband 00-US Build 10688. Might try Stevies later but right now I just want to check this out.
you should go beyond the qdl version of froyo because that is pre-release version from what i understand. if you want stock froyo, go to http://mobileupdate.dell.com/PackageProductionLocations/Streak_318_12821_00.pkg and download and install that. thats the rom that unlocked streaks have gotten from dell

Your best bet is probably just to flash to SBF 1.83. You can root from there using Gingerbreak

I can get the update now. I was part of the ATRIX 4G Pre-Release Software Test.
Problem is that I cant get software update since my phone is rooted.
search the forum and download sbf 183.
Then open the sticky thread how to flash sbf to your phone, and use the 183 file you found .
183 on mine didn't wipe my data..
So installed a clean 142 then update then flashed 183, root etc etc, and waiting for the 3.0 gingerblur!!!!!!!!
And I think that update increased wifi reception!!!

You can try the post above, flashing 1.83 sbf. Easy to do.
Or try unroot script within Gladroot

or the new gingerbreak 1.20 !
It has unroot function.

From my understanding, you can upgrade even if the phone's rooted as long as you don't have a custom theme or pseudo-ROM like GingerBlur or GladAtrix installed. You'll lose root though, so make sure you can re-root it.
This should be in QA bro!

So, its mid July ...I'm sure the update for Gingerbread is coming ....but apparently ...mostly everyone has installed the leaked gingerbread...now I ask is it worth it to go back to stock to be able to download the new update if so how do I go back? What do I need to flash? This question has probably been answered but I couldnt find it...thanks.

Hello filmusikat,
I see that you're running gingerblur 4.5 on your atrix, so do i. You need to flash 4.1.8.3 official sbf and check for the gingerbread update regulary. I don't think the leaked gb roms are worth to spend time for now. They all have glitches which would effect daily usage.

Hi filmusikat!
The latest ROM has proven to be very stable:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1169409
The instructions are included within the thread. Not addressing the unlocking part since your signature already tells you got it.
As for being worthy, I say it is. I was in Gingerblur too, and the performance difference is big.
Regards,
glemDot

no glitches affecting any daily usage on me for 4.5.91. 100% functional, and 100% better than froyo.
Remains to be seen which version of GB will be the official release. The leaked versions everyone is flashing may not be the most current which will be offered up.
NOTE SHE/HE NEVER MENTION GB 4.5, actually if she/he indeed installed ota gb update.zip, with you instructions she/he will have a HARD BRICK
So first thing to find out is what actually she/he has installed

Thank you guys for the reply..I am a she btw(to the last post). I currently have kens beta gingerbread rom installed. I know my signature says otherwise..i haven't changed it. So... I guess I should not flash 1.8.3 cuz I would end up with a hard brick... so where to now from here if I wanted to test out the official ota coming soon?

Install fruitcake updates, forget about ota forever. If there is anything good in the ota, our kind devs will include it in our roms.

I've got to say I'm very pleased... I have Gingerbread beta 4-5, hotspot enabled, webtop working perfectly via webtop-joe, Netflix - streamingly like it should. My Atrix feels like it should have come out of the box like this. I honestly don't think within the next year or two they will release another operating system better than GB and by then I'd probably be upgraded to the newest phone AT&T has... Atrix Quad core 3D with a 5" screen LOL

For the nice lady:
"If you want to confirm your status, please adb, su, and "cat /sys/firmware/fuse/ReservedOdm" or just open the file in Root Explorer. If you see something like:
10000000000010001000300004000
Then you should NOT SBF anything from Motorola"
If you want to post your ReservedOdm to look and see if you will be fine to SBF 1.83 again
Probably you are safe if you actually installed Kenth by CDW or moto-fastboot (boot.img and system.img)
But if you actually run the update.zip or any update trought the normal android recovery screen and if you saw the following legend "updating AP20 bootloader" in that case you CAN NOT flash any SBF from Motorola
I hope it help

Is there a method to take the stock RAZR to 211 yet? If so, what file do I use and do I install through recovery?
Thanks!
Matt has created a utility for this purpose. Get it here:
http://www.droidrzr.com/index.php/t...y-17-for-ics-and-those-who-want-to-go-to-ics/
Option 1 is what you want IF you are running a GB ROM or are on an ICS leak 79 or earlier. Anything after 79 and you cannot get back to Gingerbread.
Thanks a lot! And should the install fail, I can just use option 2...correct?
does this method root your phone in the process? I want ICS but I don't want to root and not be able to get future updates.

No. After you've applied the update, it will NOT be rooted. You need to use options 6 or 7 to root ICS.

Makes me want to do this... but also might just want to wait for official ICS just to make sure nothing is different.
For the record, rooting has never stopped an update.

Does this wipe data or just apply the update like the OTA does? I just got my phone today and finally got it setup and don't want to wipe again
Official OTA is due anytime this WEEK, can you really not wait that much longer to not have to do anything special?
I can certainly wait, but I just went from the Nexus to Razr and the browsers are killing me. Both the ICS stock browser and Chrome are so much better and have all of my bookmarks from my synced Chrome account. I don't want to go through the process of setting up the phone again, so I'll just wait.
