Is there any way to keep all the extra additives of 2.2, but get the old cut up status bar back? I love the way it was split up, the slide down style is way too big for just notifications, amd its such a hassle aswell, amd its silver, whilst my streak is black, its ugly.. is there anyway to get it back eothout downgrading? Thanks in advance

+1. Its the only thing worth having from the old official 1.6 build.

I love the old status bar when I upgraded yo the new android and seen the status bar I wanted to cry

Same here. That was the best part of 1.6.
Yeah, it would be great..
I think that the absence of the DELL status bar is one of the BEST things of the new 2.2 ROMs! I hated this big time! As a user that have multiple phones running Android I want the same experience on all of them! I always tried to pull the status bar down this did nothing on 1.6/2.1 versions of the DELL roms! The ONLY plus was the quick network setting that were there but there are other methods to achieve this!

There may be other methods to have 'quick' settings, alas, all of them involve going back to homescreen to set them. rather than just tapping the status bar and there it is. Everyone has there own oppinions, sadly I doubt we will ever see the 1.6 status bar again.
Doesnt mean it isnt missed though.

Moving to Q&A
Yeah i just loved how it looked, i mean i know theres ways of making the status bar black, but personally, i know some have different opinions and thats cool, but i feel that tapping is so much easier, plus i loved the fact i could be in a game, and get a message, amd if its not in my recent apps (holding the homescreen button) then i could tap menu and bring it up.. bad example as itd be in my notifications, but you get what im saying, plus i have my homescreens exactly how i want them, i dont really miss the quick settings, just the feel of it, im a veteran android user, and it was just something fresh and innovative, so im guessing theres no way to port it? :/
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
No it cannot be ported , but when dell release the sorce code (WHEN ) then may be we can do something
Ahh, ok thanks for your time
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
Any look with the 1.6 status bar ? I only briefly saw it in 1.6 but from what i did see it looked very nice and would much preferred to the current scroll down bar which i find quite annoying. I also read that dell released the source code so hopefully this is now possible.

Having owned my EVO since November of last year, one of the mods/apps on my phone that has been with every ROM is JsChiSurf's power control notification bar. It is THE most useful and crucial apps I have on my phone. Although I know there are other 'widgets' on the market that "sort of" replicate it, JsChiSurf's mod is the only one that allows you to have access to any of the power controls you frequently need from any screen quickly and easily, whereas, with most power control widgets, you have to go back to the screen where the widgets are located.

My Photon is arriving today and since it doesn't appear JsChiSurf made the jump to the Photon, it's the one mod that I'm going to truly miss. Because of that, I was wondering if any of you talented developers out there knows how to port this mod to the Photon? I'm willing to pay a bounty ($20, via Paypal) to anyone who can do it.

I agree. This has always been a great feature on past rooted phones. This type of mod is also included in CM7 and is better because you can change them on the fly without flashing and can have more than 6. Either way, would be nice to have.

Brother (or sister if you're female), thank you for pointing me in the direction of that app. I just installed it and it looks like the concept was modeled on JsChiSurf's notification bar (and considering the developer was from XDA, I wouldn't doubt it).
I just installed it on my Photon and it seems to work the same way. In fact, it's a bit more user friendly in that it allows you to select which toggles you want on the notification bar from a menu selection, rather than editing a text file. And although I haven't tested ALL the functions yet, so far, most are working on my Photon. I now have room again on my homescreen (temporarily had widgets installed) and can now access those functions from any screen.
Again, thank you very much! I guess I need to pull my head out of my *ss once in a while and take a look at what's new on the Market.
Try Widgetsoid from the market. It has the option to put the widgets in your pulldown. Works great

I tried this for a while. It's nice, but the Photon doesn't support the all-in-one notification, so each control takes a notification slot. It's nice, but I'm still holding out for Power Control Notification.

Question for you about Widgetsoid. I installed it on my notification bar but can't figure out how to change to icon and background colors. Right now, both are white and it makes it hard to see.
UPDATE: NM - figured it out.

Hi All,
I am currently using the latest EWJet Rom and I really like it.
The only thing that surprised me was that in the previous versions, there was no transparency background (when displaying a menu, there was a dark background I could not modify).
In this version (3.5), the background uses transparency, and we get the homescreen background as a background in menus (instead of the dark).
I don't like this, I feel like I cannot ever find a background that allows me to see clearly the text in the menus.
Does anyone know how to remove this background transparency?
At the moment I just put a black background in my homescreen so that I can get a black background in the menus. So I would really enjoy a REAL solution !
Thanks
Can I get any help about this issue ?
In the recent posts of the EWJet Rom thread, someone writes something about a "no transparency zip" but I cannot find it...

Thanks for those answers, but it doesn't really help me! :-(
1) I used search before posting (even though this is my first thread on this forum, I am reading it for several months --> this is the first time I do not find the answer by myself)
2) I do not want to change Rom, I wrote that I like it. I personnaly believe it is the fastest Rom on X10.
Moreover, there was an answer to the guy who wrote about the "no transparency zip", saying that it only works for the notification bar, not for the menus.
Does anyone know how to remove transparency background in the menus ?

All you need to do is update the (i think 4) background images in the framework-res.apk and semcGenericUXP.apk (both in system/framework/) turn it back into the sony wave if you like but. on a side note.
does the rom have tinting or are the apps all FULLY transparent. eg. look at the atached pic.
the dialer part is FULLY transparent and the part where the numbers come up is 80% tinted
Pvy.
Thinking of making a rom. Based on cm7. (NO BLUR CRAP!) I like features of a lot of roms but HATE all the god awful theme crap people put on everything like these battery circles and all the ****ty looking mish mash of crap. I want my phone to look Android. Not like a ricer Honda.
So:
What features would you like to see in a rom?
What are you favorite features that you commonly use but don't see in a rom that looks good?
Keep in mind this will most likely be cm7 based with a lot if extras....
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
I love cm7 beta but here's what I'd like to see changed:
1. Push button to answer phone instead of swipe to unlock, or at least a settings to choose either.
2. a better 1% batter indicator, as of now, cm7 has the number next to a small green bar, I'd like to see the number inside a battery icon.
3. email client is weak, especially direct dial from email. Currently can't direct dial number included in header. This sucks for business users
4. a cleaner sms user interface. why do I have the droidbot in every text I send, would like to see it streamlined.
5. Vlingo assistant is years ahead of google voice search and should be used as the default voice search.
6. Keep Theme Chooser and all mods under Cyanogen Settings.
Thats all I can think of now but will add more later if I think of any.

Sent from my MB860 using xda premium
I like:
The lower auto screen brightness tweak that was added into Homebase.
End call widget on homescreen or hold down a capacitive button at the bottom.
I like the toggles in the status bar for wifi and stuff but wish the status bar was about and inch with toggles and maybe end call toggle visible instead of having to slide it down.
Tap to unlock or tap to answer.
Disable data/wifi option on screen off.
Ok, I am done pulling my hair out so maybe I can pay someone else to do this for me lol.
I want a Transparent Status Bar exlcluding the Clock / Battery .. All I want is Notificatons on left hand side and Signal/Wifi on the right hand side.
I have been trying to change framework to make it work but however all I can manage to do is either make it completely dissapear or change the color. I thought that I could atleast hide the notifications by making the battery and clock display transparent but when I do that it off centers the wifi/signal bars and just doesn't look right.
I however have not been succesfull at making the Bar itself transparent.
So, to sum it up. I will pay for someone to do this for me or willing to accept any and all pointers on how to accomplish this myself.
Systemui controls expanded status bar and everything except the battery. In systemui goto res/layout/ you can set dip of items to say 0.9999999 to hide it. Also colors.xml in res/values/
Running ICScrewD ROM
So you want a transparent status bar with only notifications and wifi/signal without the clock on the right?
How much $$$?

Sorry bout my signature. I did have the Skyrocket for a few days but took it back due to it being a major annoyance. The new APN's they use for the LTE Data plan is stupid and gave me more data issues then I care to touch on.

I don't use TWiz currently do to this issue haha. I am using ADWEx because I can totaly hide the Status Bar but I don't care for doing that tbh. I played with Launcher 7 and its statusbar replacement but couldnt get it to work right after pulling things apart so trashed that project. I dug into some MIUI Framework but I can't even start to compare what they changed.
Is there a way to replace the StatusBar.apk from system with a customized version without it breaking somehting else.

The problem with WP7 bar is it is just overlay and doesnt actually replace the stock status bar and it actually uses a bit of battery. This is the reason I want the stock status bar modified.

Hi, thanks for choosing Themer! As you know it's still in beta, so a transparent navigation bar as well as many other features will arrive soon. The transparent bar however might be a bit tricky though, as of right now if we make it transparent, there will just be a black bar at the bottom of the theme. This will mean redoing almost all the themes. That being said, it doesn't mean we aren't going to do it, it will just take some time
