Hello,
I searched but could not find anyone with the following problem on their vibrant. Just got my 4th replacement vibrant, charged it to full, unplugged it and after 3 or 4 hours usually it's at between 60-70% but it still read 100%. Continued through the day and about 10 hours in still reading 100% so i turned off turned on and same reading. Removed the battery and same. Uninstalled battery indicator (My battery widget of choice) and same. Removed battery again and when fired back up and reinstalling batt indicator it read 5%. 5 minutes later it died while still reading 5%. Called t-mobile, explained problem and they sent me a new battery (1650 mAh vs. old 1 at 1500 mAh) So recharged all night and in the morning it was at 98%. And off the charger all day it was stuck at 98%. Pulled battery replaced it and when fired up it was at 34% where it has remained for 6 hours even with gps and wi-fi on (Trying to see if i can get it to move/change) I am running Froyo stock 2.2 with a build of UVKB5 and a kernal version of 2.6.32.9 Am running out of patience waiting for GB and am considering going the root route but right now i just want a phone that accurately reads battery level. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Hi
I am contacting you as the last hope to have something worked on for my streak regarding the extended battery not getting detected. I have tried all the calibration apps but still no luck.
i have recently purchased this battery and there are issue i am facing regarding the battery mostly regarding the reporting. its the android 2.2 operating system that is the issue, with the 1.6 android it is working perfectly fine as i have tried it on my friend's streak which is running android 1.6 and on his phone properly detects the battery and reports the battery properly and it is dead when it is reaching 0 % unlike mine which works for 18 to 20 hrs when the stock battery meter shows 1% . The Mugen app doesnt help regarding the calibration as i have used the app and have completed 5 charge cycles of 10 - 12 hrs without break. it is mentioned not to let the battery drain to 0% but since i dont have the readin of the battery i cant say whether it is low or not as the system meter shows 1%
The issue that i am as follows.
1. the system battery meter doesnt show the correct reading.. it shows the battery to be fully charged when the
battery is fully charged tht is at 4211 mv and after i take the charger out and use the battery it shows properly how a normal battery shud decrease and then goes and gets stuck at 1% and in tht 1% the phone will work for 18 to 20 hours..so it wierd as u never know as to when the battery would die and this is wht happenned once the phone suddenly died after being on 1% for 17 hrs
2. no other app works properly cause of this. i have tried using battery left and battery monitor app ( which calculates via voltage ) however what happens is that the app shows a correct reading until the stock meter goes to 1% but once the stock meter reaches 1% the app gets stuck at the reading it showed when the stock meter reached 1%. And if i turn of the phone and take the battery out and put it back in the stock meter shows 50% battery left and the app starts working again and once again when the stock meter reaches 1% the app fails and then again if i take the battery out and put it back in again i get 50% battery on the meter. i have checked on forums and it has been concluded tht this happens when the battery made is not a single battery of 4800 mah but 2 or 3 batteries combined together to appear as 4800 mah.. is that the case with this battery.
3. the third issue is of charging back again... after the stock meter stays stuck at 1% and the phone works for 17 to 18 hrs if i put it back on charging the stock meter still stays stuck at 1% and doesnt move forward at all even though the battery is getting charged...again if i take the battery out and put it back in the battery will show the amount it has been charged.
Any help would be appreciated.
Hi I'm new to android with the neo but I took the plunge and tried to downgrade to 2.3.2 then root and ota to 2.3.4 but I could not get the ota update to 2.3.4 so I updated via seus and lost the root but all went well.
Now I've noticed that my battery really drains fast, I had it on charge last night, unplugged it this morning, took it off airplane mode and bam 1% down in the first 30 seconds ?
1 Is this normal
2 Do I need to charge it 5 or 6 times to let the battery settle in again
3 Or is there something else I need to do to calibrate the battery
If someone can point me in the right direction that would be great, cheers all.
Read here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1272738 you more or less bricked your phone. Your actually lucky you get at least 1% battery.

Thanks for replying but thats not it, I charged my phone last night to 100% and so far within the last 2 .5 hours I'm now down to 89% every time I unlock my phone I can see the battery drop a few %
Do you see something special in the battery usage screen?
Try calibrating your battery.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11803458
There's nothing in the battery usage screen apart from screen at 54% which it has always been ?
I think I solved the problem, I fully charged my neo and then let seus do a repair install of the firmware, the battery is looking better now
Nice to hear that.
Sent from my Xperia Neo using XDA-app
I understand that, the charging time is between 5 and 6 hours.
Can you guys confirm this?
Is any thread on what we can do to charge the tablet fastest?
My 10.1 tablet (wifi only) will come in 1-2 days, and i did not know the tablet have such a big time to charge.
I will try also to change the stock rom, any advice please?
Thanks in advance..i will appreciate.
5 to 6 hours sounds about right for a full charge, probably closer to 5 hours. The battery has a large capacity so it's going to take a while to charge from empty. As far as ROMs go if you want an Android 3.2 ROM Galaxy Task or Overcome are popular, if you want Android 4.0 there are some CM9 ICS alpha releases that you could try.
Lol. Mine probably takes 5 hours charging from 40%. No worries though, slow charging is better for the battery. Also keep in mind this battery is about 5 times bigger than an average smartphone battery.
slower the better
it gives me around 4-5 hours of charging from 1 % left. i prfer it discharging full
then charging
4 ½ to 5 hours from 0 to 100 %
It's not a problem. You just have to charge it while you are sleeping
Thanks all, the time is big anyway, lets look to xoom, it have 2-3 hours max to a full charge, and others too, 3 hours. Ah..

That is not healthy for a lithium polymer battery. I only do this once in a while to recalibrate the battery reading.

So..that means we cannot make the charging time to be short..
I've bought a new legit/official (has holo, serials etc.) Atrix battery.
Charged it to 100%.
During usage, its draining literally 10% an hour with very light usage (several minutes an hour). In short its draining at three times the speed of my 1 year old battery.
I've tried wiping battery stats but that didn't work.
Any ideas, or is the stats just buggered and I just gotta run it in? (ie it will go to zero then sit on zero for 5-6 hours lol)
note I've gone back to my original battery in meantime rofl
EDIT: The actual problem is that the batt is reporting much less capacity than it actually has
|The new battery is great capacity wise lasts till midnight
However the stats are still totally screwed, it will say 1% by midday, then hum along until midnight fixed at 1% (I dunno exactly how long for as I can't take the risk of leaving it off at night then its dead and I don't wake up for work in morning). |
Could just be a bad battery. Considering the old works fine that's probably the problem.

I have a similar problem with the original battery that came with phone it drains the charge quickly to 1% and on one 1% it gives a battery life of more time than the time it took to discharge from 100%.i was thinking of buying a new battery but now i am confused that what should i look before buying the battery to get a battery that can show me the exact charge on the indicator.
I have tried all tutorial of calibration used different roms and kernels but nothing seems to solve the issue.
well I might try that then, just let it run to zero see how long it lasts then see whether the stats come good over time
OK help needed.
The new battery is great capacity wise, lasts from morning to bedtime with >2 hours of bluetooth music, 30 mins calls, a ton of texts.
However the stats are still totally screwed, it will say 1% by midday, then hum along until midnight fixed at 1% (I dunno exactly how long for as I can't take the risk of leaving it off at night then its dead and I don't wake up for work in morning).
Aside from wiping stats which I have tried, is there anythnig else I can do?
I really want to use it, like I said real life capacity is great, but if its always giong to be reporting 1% its a bit dicey not knowing how much batt you really have left...
same issue with my spare battery not sure wtf is going on
When I have battery stat problems the following has always fixed it:
1) leave phone on until it dies
2) take back off phone and plug into wall charger
3) after batt symbol shows 100% (without unplugging or turning off the phone) remove the battery. After a minute or so battery symbol will have question mark
4) put battery back in and leave it for at least 2 hours (seems like I have had to press the switch sometimes but you don't want the phone to reboot or you will have to start all over)
5) reboot into CWM and wipe the battery stats
6) reboot and it should be good to go
Anyone else found a fix to this yet?
I'm now running ICS (turl build) issue is still there.
Steps taken to resolve
- discharge to zero
- charge to max
- wipe stats
still there.
The weird thing is that the actual capacity is fine, it can last all day no worries, just from midday onwards it thinks its 1% so has annoying LED flashing at you, also you have no idea how much batt it actually has.
Edit: I just realised your suggestion above has extra step (take batt out of connected atrix then insert again). I guess I'll have to drain it again and do it overnight... gah

Nothing will work i have tried almost every tutorial. Recently i found out the phone is showing the the full capacity of battery only 500 that's why i think we will have to change that with the actual voltage to get a accurate battery indicator. What's ur battery full charge design check if from the root exploler
/sys/devices/platform/cpap_battery/power_supply/battery
My phone uevent is showing this
Powersupply-capacity=5
Powersupply-voltage-now=3836000
Powersupply-temp=260
Powersupply-charge-fill-design=500
Powersupply-charge-counter=1

I'll try the insert empty bat into already connected phone, charge to 100% remaining off, repeat trick overnight, then report back.
FWIW on my 'good' battery which is 1 year old ROFL it says 1880
not sure how changing it would help though or is even possible?. It must be dynamically reported somehow as my good battery gives me a 'good' stat.
I use battery calibration and it worked, have it
http://bit.ly/Ah732P
I'm guapurrin
the battery is charging calibration if you have to load it to calibrate

How much is ur other battery showing.I have tried different ways but was not able to change values.
500 same as you! second drain and calibrate did nothing
Maybe theres a faulty batch of batteries and we both got one
Can people PLEASE stop telling us to calibrate we've BOTH DONE THAT MANY TIMES NOW. The problem is that the capacity of the battery is being reported as 500mah not 1930 or whatever its supposed to be. THe actual running time of the battery is fantastic, just thinks its at 0 all the time lol
/sys/devices/platform/cpap_battery/power_supply/battery
Powersupply-charge-fill-design=500 - should be ~1900mah
