Set cpu vs cpu tuner - myTouch 4G Themes and Apps

Set cpu is $2 now and I see a lot of good reviews on cpu tuner. Using cpu tuner right now and noticed you can't go down past like 800mhz. Whole set cpu lets you go all the way down to 245mhz. Seems like that would save your battery more ruining at a lower click speed.
Anyone have any input on which is better?
So far another thing on cpu tuner is that there is always an icon in the notification bar...kinda annoying but at lay u know what profile your running at.
Thanks in advance.

SetCPU is free for XDA forum members: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505419
Depending on what you're using the phone for, letting the cpu run faster for a shorter period of time can be more efficient. If the phone is mostly idle a reasonable governor setting (not "performance") will keep the clock speed down most of the time.

For CPU Tuner, go to settings, system, min displayed frequency and set it to 240.
It'll then display the min frequency to 246

For me CPU tuner seems to complicated to set up. Set cpu is more user friendly.

I use set cpu and I agree its much easier to use and love the profile settings

Cores on Quadrant?

I have a Korean SGSII, and I looked up the system information by Quadrant and it says 'cores: 1'.
ARM V7I
Isn't it supposed to show 2?

Huh...it says ARM V7 Processor rev 1(V7I)...with only one core.

One here as well, it doesn't really matter though as it still uses both. Probably just setcpu detecting the information incorrectly.
Try using quadrant standard.. I only get 1 core in quadrant advanced and 2 cores in quadrant standard..
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
At the.time you check it only uses 1cpu.
Your governor is probably set to: ondemand.
So if you do a lot of things fast, and it neeeds another cpu to keep up with you, that's when the second cpu kicks in.
When you can simulate that and open app fast, you will see it detects two cpu's. I had same issue intil I started switching between tabs really fast and checked back; two instead of one.
Try it.

Standard got ads. Advanced doesn't.
This is also why you see 1 in advanced, and 2 in standard. For the standard version it needs more cpu-power to do everything the app asks for; permissions, ads etc. advanced doesnt have this so thats why you see one. (less actions, less cpu-power needed.)
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
Quadrant doesn't truly support 2 cores, therefore it sometimes shows 1, other times 2.

So... Why not All CPU can be tweaked??
Isnt the CPU Manufactured by their standard?
Meanwhile My CPU Limit 944 Stable on CM.7.1 Kang RC1. Benchmark result (setting; DataSD, A2SD, CacheSD, HeapSize32 via DarkTremor A2SD, Swap Disabled)

Juicedefender

Does this app work I keep hearing great things but I've tried and either it didn't work or I didn't get it. Any advice? Thanks

It really makes a huge difference. All I use us the mobile data option, and I get an average of about 75% increase.
Yes it does. I've done a couple battery calibrations and use j/d and also see a pretty decent improvement. Not to mention using bi-winning 3 with the baling 1.8.8 kernal!!!! Great combo.

If only there was something about battery life? A guide maybe with apps that could be downloaded.
Actually I have a detailed explanation on how Juice Defender works on post #3 and a copy of the free version.
Well this is what I get without turning off data or wifi just undervolting. No other special apps that's y I'm wondering.

I don't know why, but Juice Defender wrecks my battery life. It keeps it from entering deep sleep so I've stopped using it. My phone is probably one of the unlucky few though.
Ya so I tried this on my G1 and never worked then I tried it on my vibrant and wrecked my battery also I was just always wondering if I didn't have the right settings on or something so I just forgot about it and move.on

Search General section of this forum, there many tutorials and config there already. A good example is "magic config"
You would have saved yourself more time if you had searched.

undervolt everything to 1
use 100 - 200mhz
set the up threshold to 99.9%
down threshold to 1%
set hotplug to only ever use 1 core
keep brightness to a minimum
alternatively find what works best for you, threads like this are illegal and stuff innit
This is what i got now. I cant find a "magic config" . The voltages ive got now sometimes make my gs2 freeze. So im lookong for a more stable one.

the best way to save battery with best stability is simply by underclocking your cpu.
-Set it to 200mhz - 1000mhz
-Don't undervolt
-You will save more battery than undervolting, and your phone will be rock stable.
Peace

Thank you! I already got it underclocked. I dont like messing around with the voltages as i already screwed up my mainboard before.
Any governor recommended with 1000-200mhz?

since you are using Siyah, uninstall Set cpu and reboot phone
Make sure you remove any settings from set cpu before uninstalling it.
install "extweaks" from market
-Open extweaks and set your profile to battery
That's the best and most stable battery- optimized settings on Siyah kernel.

[Q] What is keeping my CPU busy in the background?

My phone is Jiayu G3S, with a MTK6589 cpu and android version 4.2.1
I use latest xposed installer and latest gravitybox.
My problem is that something is keeping my cpu busy in the background, preventing it from sleeping.
For example, i left it last night, and i opened it after 12 hours, it was awake and using cpu for about 90 minutes.

My normal consumption is 0.3% every hour, but now it is 3%, like 10 times more. Also noticed greater consumption when screen is on.
As you can see, there is no strange wakellock that lasts that long and all my apps have settings not to auto-update.
I tried reading my logs but i didnt find any info.
I would appreciate any help
I dont know why my images dont work on xda

already did, the screens are right there.
Nothing, no system or user app, is consuming so much time.
But on CPU states i see that my cpu is used 100%, while its supposed to be sleeping.
I also used log viewers, but nothing ade sense to me.
Any suggestions?

If so try to post those screenshots as well, if I can't read them I'll check again when at a pc
