Change your unlock and lock sound by doing these simple steps... If you have a .wav file or any sound you want me to convert to .ogg shoot a zip of it and I'll be glad to do it for you.
Note: If the sounds are too loud, install Audio Guru from the market and tweak the system volume to however you like it.
See attached files on post #1 #2 (future #3)
How to apply: (Remember it is case sensitive so make sure U on Unlock and L on Lock are capitalized)
Using ADB:
Unzip and put files in the tools directory .
-adb remount
-adb shell rm /system/media/audio/ui/Lock.ogg
-adb shell rm /system/media/audio/ui/Unlock.ogg
-adb push "lockfile.ogg" /system/media/audio/ui/
-adb push "unlockfile.ogg" /system/media/audio/ui/
-reboot
Or you can always use root explorer from market to move files around.
Using Root Explorer (Recommended)
-Unzip files
-Open Root Explorer and make sure to click R/W on top right
-Copy "Lock.ogg"
-Past it in system/media/audio/ui/
-Overwrite the file.
-Copy "Unlock.ogg"
-Paste it in system/media/audio/ui/
-Overwrite the file.
Reboot and Enjoy.

what are ya using to convert the files? I have tried a couple different converters and they would convert the file but phone would use ringtone instead. the only .ogg files that would work were ones I got from here, the N1 forums and hacking forums

Very good topic dude ! I actually can make ogg files easily , also i can offer all of you here "robotic voices" which are very atractive when used as unlock/lock sounds.
I have a complete perm root on my Samsung Galaxy S but i meet one problem , i place with root explorer Unlock.ogg (without Lock.ogg) and still there is no unlock sound on my device. Can someone guess the reason ?
Very best regards to all of you
Actually the lock sound works now , but the unlock sound does not work at all and i can not guess the reason ...
I am not sure about this, and no way to check it atm coz my gf lost her Vibrant... But I think the Galaxy devices have "Lock.ogg" for Lock sound and "TW_Unlock.ogg"(or something like that) for Unlock sound.
-Try checking it using Root Explorer and see what the unlock file is called.
-Rename your Unlock.ogg file to match the Galaxy S "Unlock.ogg" file.
-Overwrite it and reboot.

When i moved them over i renamed them to Lock.ogg and Unlock.ogg. They had a lowercased L and U. Not sure if it made a difference but thats what i did. O and i used Root Explorer.
Running Kmobs latest nightly, build 9.
Thanks for posting the thread.
Yes it does make a difference, It's case sensitive Thanks for pointing that out.

Okay so I have a feeling there is a simple fix bit I've tried everything I know on how to fix this. I have ringtones on my memory card that was working find on my Evo 4G and now that I have my 3D it will not let me set them as a ringtone. It doesn't even show up in the list of ringtones like it used too. I can play them in the file explorer that I have but it the option to apply as ringtones doesn't work. the files are .ogg

no, the development section, in very broad terms, is more about furthering our phones capabilities via roots and roms. not really a place to ask questions, unless those questions relate relate to rooting or roms you are making. in general, if you're unsure, the q&a section is where you should go before here.

The video is not pointless, if you watched it youd notice you broke an xda rule that's covered in the video. If you can't follow the simple rules, expect to get flamed.
Okay well like I said a few posts after I didn't realize I posted in the wrong forum and if you check Q&A I went there afterwards. So calm down and if this post bothers you so bad why don't you go stalk the other forums and attack all the other posts that should be elsewhere.

Get a file explorer like Astro and then create a folder on your sd card called "media" (no quotes). In that folder, create a folder called "ringtones" (no quotes) and put your custom ringtones in it. They should then show up in the list of available ringtones. Do the same for a "notifications" folder (no quotes).

Make sure it is named bootanimation.zip after downloading
Boot animation Motorola/Nvidia #1

Boot animation Motorola/Nvidia #2
No video of this animation yet make sure to rename to bootanimation.zip

I will be adding more as time permits

Just want to add, I modified the first Animation to have the Nvidia piece kick in a litter faster. As my phone starts pretty quick, and having the Motorola animation run 4-5 times before the Nvidia animation, my phone would start before I saw the Nvidia tegra animation.

You have to Root your Photon 4g 1st...
Just follow this site and follow the steps to Root your Phone..
Its so Simple... Just a Click of a button you have your Photon Rooted..
Make sure you enable Android Debugging and Allow Unknown Source in Apps settings..
Root
After than, Just paste the Bootanimation.zip folder in your sd card or internal storage.
( You have to Rename it to bootanimation.zip )
Then Use Root Explorer and go into System/media and paste it over there..
When you get Permission Request on Superuser click Allow..
Thats all..
Reboot and Enjoy your New Boot Animation.

After installing your animation I found another I wanted to try out, however yours seems to be here for the long haul.
I've even gone as far as deleting the animation zip entirely and then rebooting, with no luck. Is there some back up that it draws from in the case that the files are not present?
Honestly I keep expecting your animation to say " Resistance is futile".. Any ideas?

Have you tried just replacing it with the other boot animation your wanting to use and changing permissions using root explorer. I never had any issues changing the animation

Good job on this man. I was reading thru the posts and saw some were having issues with permissions so before I copied over the new Boot Animation .zip file, I checked the permissions of the original and after copying over I made sure the new one had the same.

Hey guys, I wrote an article over on our site that shows a quick walkthrough on how to display full desktop websites permanently on Chrome for Android Mobile so that you don't have to visit the mobile site, then hit "request desktop site" button any more. Considering Chrome is an awesome browser with full sync, and works very well on Jelly Bean, this might be of use to all of you. I know I was sick of having to constantly click the button.
Article: How To – Permanently Have Desktop Mode on Chrome Mobile for Android
Rooted device Instructions:
Copy the chrome-command-line.txt file attached to the post, then paste it into /data/local/ making sure to set the permissions to 755 and to remove the '.txt' file extension.
Flashable .zip, for the lazy:
You should know how to use this by now. Grab the attached ChromeDE.zip provided by XDA user djmcnz and flash away! (Thanks!) You can also drop him a thanks by visiting a post of his later in this thread.
ADB Instructions (for non-rooted devices):
Place the chrome-command-line.txt file in the root directory of your PC and rename it to 'chrome-command-line', then make sure your device is connected to your computer. When connected, issue this command:
Code:
adb push /chrome-command-line /data/local/chrome-command-line
You can also set the path on your computer where the file is located by replacing the first '/chrome-command-line' with the file location.
Cheers! Hopefully we'll see a better implementation of this in the upcoming 4.2 release.
Very useful. Instructions were clear and precise, Nice one!
thank you very well apreciated is there any chance you can write 1 on how to make it more stable?

I'm using solid explorer off of the market (a free file manager) which allows you to set the permissions of a file. In solid explorer, they are set by ticking the correct boxes, whereas in other applications they are typed in by number..

Good tip but it can be improved.
You don't need root to write to /data/local/ so in theory this trick will work for everyone, might pay to update the article.

No? When testing with a Nexus 7 unrooted you cannot navigate to Data/local through Solid Explorer. Naturally I thought it had to be rooted. If you have had success with a different file manager (or pushed it through ADB) then letting me know what worked would be great.

You'll be able to get to it in a terminal window or adb - not sure what's up with Solid, equally an update.zip will work without root.
/data/local/ is r/w for the local user and shell.
try - echo test > /data/local/test.txt on a non-rooted device, it'll work.
Actually, now that think about it more - Solid probably can't list the contents of / (root) so you can't navigate to sub directories. Can you type a path into Solid? That should work.

I'll definitely test that out and put a guide for newbies on there. Solid displays the root directory, but will not allow you to navigate to a folder inside of it. I was thinking about ease of access for the user, and assumed they wouldn't want to go the adb route. My bad, but thank you for the heads up.

No worries, I can whip one up in a few minutes when I get home.
In the meantime you can have a look at some here: http://djmcnz.batteryboss.org/GNexus/mods/StockLauncher/v4/
If you want to have a play and look at the script. It will need to be different for you of course, least of all because we'll be mounting /data instead.
I'll send you a PM later on once I'm home (I'm in Europe/CET).

if ur scared of adb, use es file explorer. Make the root directory writable in settings. The adb commands in the instructions are just pasting the files from the zip into the system/lib and system/app folders. Then u can use Rom Toolbox Lite to edit the build.prop
Thanks
Wow, thanks for this! I can confirm that it works with the 4.1.1 Jelly Bean leak. This was my first experience using adb too, so the instructions were nice and easy for my newbness.
Is there any way to hide the old gallery and camera?
Can this be done with the keyboard and alarm clock from the Nexus 4 too?
Google play says that my phone is a "Motorola Galaxy Nexus" now xD
would installing this via root explorer have any correlation to why my 4g hasn't worked since I installed? the camera and gallery seem to work fine, and i copied over the apk, lib files, and edited build prop all according to directions.
otherwise, 4g is out in my area.

Slick. Seems to work fine. I backed up the existing lib file just in case though.

Excellent, glad it worked for you. Photosphere is somewhat gimmicky, but way cool.

Awesome thanks! I noticed this zip is 't04' instead of the 't01' I was using, newer leak or something?
Ya, I think so. I wish I could remember where I found it to give credit as it's due. I too was trying to get the 01 version to work when I found this.

So this increases the shutter speed right?
Because thats the only thing I cant stand with the camera.
nice man, thz
So I personally hate the look of the T-Mobile boot/shutdown animations, so I extracted to stock animations from the international version of the phone. Just thought that I would share it here for anyone else who wanted to get rid to the T-Mobile boot/shutdown animation.
Adding Boot Animations
1. First, download a file explorer on your phone. I personally use Root Explorer, it costs a little but it worth every penny. A free one you can use is ES Explorer.
2. Navigate to system > media on your device. If you see files titled bootsamsung.qmg, bootsamsamsungloop.qmg, bootsamsungmini.qmg, and bootsansungminiloop.qmg then you are in the right area. If not, try again to find the right area.
3. Take only the bootsamsung.qmg, bootsamsamsungloop.qmg, bootsamsungmini.qmg, and bootsansungminiloop.qmg files from the zip attached to this post and paste them over the existing one.
If prompted by your file explorer, the permission of the files should be rw-rw-rw-
(Please note, if you want to save the stock files to restore them for any reason, replace the qmg on the stock files with XML)
Animation steps are completed!
Adding Boot Sound
For sound we are going to do pretty much the same thing
1. Navigate to System > Media > Audio > UI, if you see a bunch of files ending in .ogg, you're in the right area!
2. Replace the stock PowerOn.ogg with the one in the zip attached to this post.
(Please note, if you want to save the stock files to restore them for any reason, replace the ogg on the stock files with XML)
3. (optional) If you don't like the shut down sound on your device, delete the file title PowerOff.ogg
Reboot and enjoy!
Hopefully that helps out anyone who was having issues. Let me know if you have any other questions or concern!
im with you, ty sir.
Worked great! got any shutdown and power on sounds for it ?

how do you do this? it worked but after i did it my screen wouldn't turn off so i had to restore my phone. what do you use to replace the files?
Awesome, I am guessing that you would need a file explorer to do anything. Most people on here have recommended ES File explorer. Its free and does a lot of things, but does take some getting used to if your not real familiar with the file structure.
Hope this gets you started in make your phone truly YOURS. Gotta love Android.

Yeah, you do need a file Explorer to do this, I can make this a flashable zip if people are interested though. As for file explorers, I prefer Root Explorer, it's the best out there Imo. It costs a buck or two, but worth it to support great deal.

Same thing here... I can't get my screen to lock now and it turns off my auto brightness and just sticks on the s5 splash screen tried putting the stock files back but still didn't fix it

Make sure that you aren't pasting the PowerOn.ogg where the boot .qmg's go, and make sure you aren't pasting the qmg's in where the PowerOn.ogg goes. I know that's a pretty confusing explanation but that seems to be what would cause the issue for you guys. I'll update the OP with more exact instructions.
As for a flash-able zip, I will try to get the done sometime this week. I have an interview today at work I'm preping for so I probably wont get it done today.

Yeah, maybe its something with that ROM. I haven't used it before so I'm not sure. I'm sorry.
Anyone want to post the stock tmobile boot animation And sounds?
Sent from my BAJAROM'D Note 3 via Tapatalk Pro
So, the startup animation/sound is working great (thank you!), but it's still T-Mobile sound for the shutdown. Do you happen to have the PowerOff.ogg from international version?
Also, I created a flashable .zip file for the stuff you provided, and a return-to-stock .zip also. If you can provide the file above, I can include it before sending them to you for posting here.
EDIT: I went ahead and posted it without any shutdown sound. The T-Mobile one will restore the original animations and the boot/shutdown sounds also.

Same exact problem, and I'm no noob to this either. Not sure what is breaking it.
I think one of those boot animations (at least one of the four) are corrupt. OP, you may want to have a look at those files and maybe replace them, they might have uploading improperly.
For those who got stuck with a stuck screen, I believe it is the boot animation that is the problem (not the sounds). Replacing the originals does work, just don't use the flash. Here are the original 4 qmg files for the media folder (delete the others out).

I'm confused - are the .zip files that I provided broken? I just now re-downloaded both straight to my phone from here, and they appear to be working...
