Hello all. I recently purchased a dell streak and attempted to mount it to my laptop (Windows Vista). When I plug it in, I get the "Mount" option and I choose to mount it, however NOTHING happens on my laptop....I can't seem to access the SD cards for any reason....anyone have this problem? How do I connect my Streak to my computer so that I may access the streak's directory structure?

Is there anyway to get the X10mini pro to show up in windows as a standard USB mass storage device, like my camera or MP3 player? I want to be able to simply copy files over to the phone without using Sony’s software etc. Is there an app I can download for this?
when i connne it shows up as long as there is a memory card not sure if need to select mount usb on the phone menu , if you want the phone memory im not sure its possible to view but as its not that big i guess ur just looking for the memory card
how do you select mount usb on the phone menu? I am still unable to connect this phone as a usb mass storage device and upload files to the card without the Sony Software

When you plug in the USB cable from the PC to the phone, are you greeted with this menu (see attached image)
Thanks I am familiar with that screen, however I can't get the phone to be treated as a USB mass storage device. I just want to be able to browse the memory card like on an MP3 player, camera etc without having to use the Sony software. Is there anyway I can do this natively in windows or linux?

When that screen pops up, just select "Connect my phone", and it'll mount it in mass storage mode. Works perfectly fine for me on PCs without the software installed. Haven't tried it on linux, but it works on my car's stereo that plays mp3s off a connected usb device, so I can't see why it wouldn't
My phone works like that but only with the phone drivers installed. I treid this before I installed the phone drivers but windows just said the drive was unreadable. Also you can't browse the entire directory structure.
Very odd. My Windows XP SP2 has no drivers in it for the phone but manages to read the memory card
Works fine here as regular usb mass storage in Mac OS X.

Ive just suddenly had a brainwave: asking for drivers? That to me sounds like its in USB debugging mode. Switch that off and it should be ok
I updated my x10 mini to 2.1 yesterday and now everytime i connect phone to PC
and click on Mount USB phone just restarts. Does anyone have the same issue?
although this is not a x10 mini thread, i experience the same problem (with my mini) after upgrade to 2.1. i wonder if it is not because you sync with "my phone explorer"... do you?
Android Commander
Use android commander to transfer files does not require putting into USB mount mode.
Or MyPhoneExplorer.
It used to do that back on the RF...014 firmware.
They seemed to like it so much, that they implemented it again!! lol!
*sent from my X10i
mine does it too. but it happens when i plug the usb cabel to the device so the software above won´t work..any solution?
When you connect phone to PC choose to "charge" after that choose "mount" no restarts
but it restarts just after i plug the cable into the device, i have no time to select one of these options
Have you tried connecting the phone with another computer, usb port or usb cable? If that doesn't work...
Have you tried connecting the cable without the sd card inside?
Try that, if it doesn't restart you know it's the sd card that's causing the problem. If you have an sd card reader (some laptops have them) put it in and copy your important files and format the sd card to fat32. You can also use the phone to format the card, but you will lose everything on the card.
Hope that helps.
thanks for your reply
but i had to flash my phone again and now i´m not having this problem anymore so far
Same thing happens to me too. Yesterday updated my X10 Mini Pro to 2.1, now the phone restarts, when mounted. I have tried on 2 computers (PC and laptop). Just now tried the suggestion to choose "Charge" and later "Mount" from status bar, seems to work
Actually, just now i remembered that this started happening not right after the update, but after i enabled Text-to-Speech or Speech-tp-Text or whatever it was. Will be trying to switch that off later.
for me the upgrade to 2.1 solved the problem...try to re-flash

I use exactly the same workaround on my X10 mini pro. This bug started after the android 2.1 upgrade. I never had it before...
It happens only when I mount the SD on Win7 and not on Ubuntu Linux: Could it be a driver issue?
EDIT: btw the issue disappeared after i uninstalled the live wallpaper

Hi, i had same problem with reboot after mount USB so i tried to find solution. And in my case the soution was simple.
I have had set sound notification to SD card witch was save on S card..... Go to: Preferences>display and sound> SD card notification> "set OFF"

Hello everyone. Forgive me if I missed a thread about this. I checked all of them but they were dead ends. Anyways about a week ago i can put music on HTC aria(mine is the liberty version), now I can't. I run both windows and Linux on one laptop and I tried to see if it would be detected on Linux still didn't work... then i tried on windows still didn't work, no usb sound nothing... The only thing it does is connect to charge. When I plugged my sisters phone it worked and a USB thing popped up. My laptop also has a micro sd slot and on windows sp2 it doesn't detect the micro sd but it detects it on Linux. So confusing.

Did you mount the SD card when you connected it?
Try turning off usb debugging before connecting it. Worked for me.
Connect your device to the laptop then remove all device drivers that related to your phone from your windows system after finish unplug ur phone reboot it ,reboot ur system then try to replug an install the device drivers again.
I have looked and looked but cant find the answer!!
i have just put on my dell streak 5 android 2.3.3, it runs beautifully but i have one problem.
No USB MASS STORAGE option,
my phone charges and does come upon the computer and i have activated usb debugging but it will not show up the uption for USB MASS STORAGE.
i have been reading somethings online about this but its so confusing to say the least.
Is there a simple way to sort this out?
also how do i root the 2.3.3 easily as i am confused about that too.
Thanks in advance
Dave
Since it's your first post...
Instructions for rooting the Streak can be found in the Dell Streak Wiki we have here on the site. There are also instructions and much more available in the sticky thread titled "Everything you always wanted to know about the Streak but were too busy bricking it." Afterwards, search using the search engine on the site here and read up.
Now, to fix your USB Mass Storage problem, have you installed the drivers on your PC? If you haven't, do so now and see if that changes anything. If that doesn't do it, check to see that your external MicroSD card is properly inserted. On some Streaks that card can wiggle loose in the slot just enough to prevent the card from reading. Regardless of whether you have or haven't done these things I would then switch to a custom Gingerbread ROM, either DSC or Longhorn. I use DSC and have had no issues with getting the Mass Storage to appear.
Hello XDA!
I know that there is a USB Mount tool in this rom, and ive tried it, but whenever i press "Turn on USB Storage", it loads for like 30 seconds until the button reappears, not mounting to the computer with either internal or external. I do have adb and fastboot access, and Wndows 7 64 bit sees it as an android phone, just not able to mount files. does anyone know how to mount to computer, because the tool in this rom just doesnt seem to work for me. I do have an sd adapter and can remove the card and have the computer see my sd card that way, but that is more of a pain and wish to have a solution. Dropbox is somewhat a pain too since i only have 2 gb....... Thanks!
