Hello,
I used QTL to fix a Streak and I believe it put it back to factory default. Now I would like to get it rooted, install Clockwork recovery and thenDJ Steve's ROM.
Is there a specific order to do this? I am trying to do clockwork first, but it is not working. The command runs and it sits at "waiting for device" forever. I am using Windows 7 64bit.
Thanks!
I'm fairly new to the process myself but I just followed DJ_Steves instructions on how to do it to the T. The 1.6 version I put on first actually came pre-rooted! Once you have it on it also has instructions on how to have streak recovery running too so any future updates (like 1.6.1) can be done in a matter of minutes! Also to note I did this on my laptop running Win7 64bit.
Thanks, but could you post a link to the article?
It's on this forum but I went to streakdroid.com I seemed to follow those directions better then I did on here. Its the same thing both from dj_steve.

Soooooooo I caved hearing that 2.2 would be out for the Streak and went and picked one up on AT&T. Thinking hacking it and putting a 2.2 ROM on there would be cake....after all I'm in IT. LOL yeah right. Anywho got no where with trying to get to 2.1 yet alone get to 2.2. So thought someone had to have a way to get ahold of an official Froyo for the Streak. So by using someone else's baseband version I was able to Dl the .pkg from Dell here: httpCOLON//mobileupdate.dell.com/?version=GAUSB1A111100[/url]
Sooooooo wondering would it work if I DLed that then put it in the root of the SD card and renamed it to Update.pkg, booted the phone in fastboot mode then updated it via the Update.pkg? That can't work, right? That just seems to easy. Dieing over here to get ahold of an official 2.2 build so I can get my exchange to work natively for work. AT&T has now blocked my iPhone from getting on the network so I can't revert waiting for the formal OTA to come out.
I'm a newb when it comes to android (just got my streak 3 hours ago) and I tried what you have stated and was greeted to "FOTA Version Mismatch... Shutting down device in 30 seconds"
Did you flash the clockwork recovery ?
Search for a link to the QDL repair tool, once you get the driver loaded, it's a simple one click solution to getting 2.2
After that, just use any of the links here to download the 318 version, and then you'll have the updated 2.2, or after getting the base 2.2 (308?), just download DJ Steve's updated version.

Yeah ive flashed clockwork recovery and that is successful. Once I go into fastboot mode and do the update.pkg part it errors on the install.
just follow the steps in the thread "updating and downgrading your streak" i followed the steps to get the UK stock 2.1 rom.. then i daringly tried the OTA update and it worked like a charm. im now running the UK stock 2.2 rom thats rooted.
As I've said before:
I had this problem also....The only thing that fixed it for me was using the QDL Tool. It took my dead Streak with flashing light with God-only-knows what baseband and ROM sequence I had tried to a fully functioning, unlocked Streak with AT&T official 2.2 on an unlocked 00 baseband. From there, it was an incredibly simple flash to DJ Steve's 1.5.1 using fastboot. Then I was done. No clockwork, no recovery, no nandroid, no nothing. Just follow the instructions for QDL Tool. I'm serious.

are you also saying that it unlocked your phone? oO?
It flashes a pre-release of v2.2 with a generic baseband, not locked to a particular carrier. The Sim Lock is still in place, however, so the phone itself will still require an unlock code if it did before.
Hey everyone - I just got a new Rogers Dell Streak. Like a good noob, I followed a guide on how to upgrade the rogers build 7921 and I'm now at Android 2.2, Build 10688. Everything seems to work OK so far, but the home, menu and back buttons flash every 1 minute exactly. Doesn't seem to matter what I'm doing, it's almost as if it's a notification of some kind. They do not flash while the screen is off (sleep).
I followed a few different guides and I think this may be the issue but I thought I'd ask first. the first thing I did was use QDL Repair Tool to upgrade to a dell release of 2.2 (I guess)... the last thing I did was follow the StreakDroid Rom installation instructions using StreakMod Recovery, amss.mbn, and then tried to install Streakdroid 1.6.1, but it wouldn't boot properly, so restored 2.2 using nandroid.
I've done some searches but couldn't really find an answer to the issue I'm having.
If anyone could give me the step required to correctly upgrade the Rogers version of Dell Streak I'd really appreciate it. Ideally I'd like to get to a stable version of 2.2 (DJ_Steve's preferably, but I would be OK to go to the new release from Dell if it would work right).
thanks everyone!
-Steve
Never mind everyone. I figured it out. I reverted back to a stock Rom and recovery and started all over. I'm now using cw recovery and Dj_steves 1.8.1 Rom.
Everything seems to be working great!
Cheers!

I've decided to ROM my phone, I liked the Streakdroid ROM because it seems like the most up to date.
if theres a better one around I'd be happy to read about it.
but I can't make it happen.
I have clockworkmod
I have the XDA streakMOD img file aswell
I have the latest Streakdroid ROM (1.9.0)
I have the earliest Streakdroid ROM (1.5.1)
I'm lost, every set of instructions expects a level of knowledge I don't really know about (yet) I'm new to this, but I'm not a total dumbass.
can someone please tell me what I need to do to go from stock 2.2 (build 12821) to streakdroid 1.9.0?
so far I've installed clockworkmod, but when I press "reboot into recovery" it just reboots and starts afresh.
I'm stuck, I have no idea what else to try...
I've the exact same problem...

clockwork from the market does not work on dell streak. go to his link and grab the streakmod recovery at the bottom and follow the directions on the thread. goodluck. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=840326
I've got the img file, I have no idea what to do with it...
I'm pretty sure I fastboot it, but none of my PC's recognise IMG files, I tried a few programs but nothing wants to play ball.
Unzip and flash with: fastboot -i 0x413c flash recovery recovery.img
Reboot with: fastboot -i 0x413c reboot
Hold down the keys "volume up" and "volume down" simultaneously while rebooting.
Select "Software upgrade via Update.pkg on SD Card" in the menu
At the Dell Logo press the power button and you will be presented with the Recovery Menu
what is "-i 0x413c" ?
am I supposed to use adb or something?
Am providing because your post seems to focus on FastBoot and these are very good instructions. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8038142&postcount=1
Although a bit dated instructions are still valid just replace old clockwork mod with latest and greatest clockwork mod.
Also am assuming you have rooted your current version of 2.2 (www.google.com if you need help in rooting).
When you get to the steps to install 1.9.0, if clockwork is installed correctly, you will install zip via sdcard not update package. If your instructions are in blue letters to install update page you do not have clockwork install on your Streak. "What you need to know about the Dell Streak - PDF" has screen shot of what clockwork looks like, yours should look the same.
By the way I run Windows 7 64 bit version and never had any issues because of it, any and all issues was the operator (AKA me) If you are running the same and believe that is causing your problems again use www.google.com to find your answer.com. Hope this helps.
I had the EXACT SAME issues up until the other day. There's a walkthrough, in word file, of how to do all this using QDL tool. I cannot remember for the life of me where I saw it, but I know it referenced the repairtool zip file from streakdroid.com website under downloads. I used the word file with QDL and, it worked first shot. Once you get cwm on the phone, 1.9 will load first shot. Make sure you have the install.txt file on your memory card, so you get everything you want, and nothing you dont. I had all launchers selected, and no apps, and it was damn near perfect. All I had to do was go in and downlaod my normal, and it was good. One thing to mention, as soon as you get cwm loaded, do a nandroid backup before you load streakdroid. Just in case, as a CYA.
Instructions you are talking about are here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/newreply.php?do=newreply&noquote=1&p=12763606
I'd post a link to my solution but I can't post links yet, but there's a PDF that explainss it all in the developers forum for this phone.
get it, it's worth it.
Hi,
i just got my G tablet recently and I decided to install Clockworkmod and TNT Lite.I followed instructions to install Clockworkmod using the a USB cable and it worked perfectly.I installed v3.0.2.8.Then, I downloaded TNTLite and moved the update.zip file to the root. When I did that, the only option to put it on the root was to replace the update.zip file from Clockworkmod with the new file from TNTLite.I went ahead and installed TNTLite and installed pefectly.I booted the tablet but it got stucked on the splash page with the Viewsonic logo.I don`t know what I did next but now every time i boot it goes straight into Clockwordmod.I reboot and doesd the same thing. When the splash page appears, in the top left corner it says:booting recovery kernel image.
Can anyone help me?
There are a couple of issues here.
First of all you need to determine which bootloader your gtab is on. There is a sticky which will help you with the whole bootloader issue. You are likely on 1.1, which is incompatible with the version of clockwork you loaded. You need clockwork .08 for the 1.1 bootloader. v3.0.2.8 only works with the 1.2 boot loader.
TNT lite has been retired, and although it is a solid ROM, it isn't being actively developed. The active "version" of TNT lite is hosted on slatedroid and is called Mountain Laurel (almost certain of the name, but I could be mixing them up). Both of those are based on the 1.2 bootloader.
Also TNT lite and Roebeet's other mods are typically installed via standard recovery rather than clockwork mod. This is at Roebeet's recommendation, and should have less rick of brickage.
Goodintention's site http://viewsonic-gtablet-for-dummies.webs.com/ should get you up to speed.
Your best bet at the moment may be a full restore with nvflash, which you can read about on the site above. The site will also help clear up the 1.1 vs 1.2 issues.
Thank you very much for the post!
I will follow your instructions and I will post a message tonite with the results of my experiment
Wish me luck
Good luck. Be careful though, my instructions are only a quick guideline, be sure to stick to gtab for dummies site, or something like of these tutorials:

I`ve got it back to stock!!! Thank you!!
Now, I have to install a ROM on it. I will post back the results!
Thank you again! Any tips on getting a ROM installed?

You really need to go to my site gtab for dummies linked in my signature. There you will find step by step instructions on how to flash (install) a new rom. I hope you used the files provided on my site because the nvflash on my site came with cwm pre-installed. And on my site, you will also find a list of all available roms at this time. Just go there and see for yourself. Make sure you use the "start here" page.
If your on stock 3588 then this tutorial is a great reference guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865245
As for installing a ROM it's pretty straightforward and it doesn't sound like you'll have much trouble. Vegan Froyo and Vegan Gingerbread are great solid roms. There's a lot to try out so have fun.
Thank you very much for your help! I will work on this tomorrow and post the results!
Really appreciate your help! Thanks!

Just to add my two cents - it looks like you are mixing up 1.1 / 1.2 dev branch items (luckily you didn't soft-brick!).
TNT Lite is a 1.1 ROM (no longer being developed), but my 3.0.2.8 rev5 cwm is for the 1.2 bootloader, so they aren't compatible. Perhaps you used another 3.0.2.8 that's not mine?
"Mountain Laurel", over in Slatedroid, is he successor to TNT Lite. It's based off stock 4349, and it's 1.2 dev branch based.
As for the cwm reboot issue, did you try and wipe data in the UI, with cwm installed? If so, the "cwm forever reboot" is known to happen. The "fix" is to get standard recovery installed so that way the data wipe completes.

I too am stuck in CWM. I was on the 1.2 ROM branch, and was using the CWM v3.0.2.8 (1.2 branch). How did you get out of CWM? I'm guessing you had to do a nvflash - I've done that before, but how do you get to the APX screen? (if that's what you did).
Roebeet also said "As for the cwm reboot issue, did you try and wipe data in the UI, with cwm installed? If so, the "cwm forever reboot" is known to happen. The "fix" is to get standard recovery installed so that way the data wipe completes."
1) yes I did a wipe data using CWM but not sure what Roebeet meant by "UI (user interface), with cwm installed" - I'm not sure how else I could do a CWM data wipe using the UI?
Edit: got it. In the UI, sometimes under Security, you can do a factory/data wipe from there.
2) The "fix" " is to get standard recovery installed - what is the "standard recovery"? and more importantly, how do I install it?
Edit: Is the standard recovery - going back to the gtab stock (depending on what branch you are on)?
I bought a used, already rooted g tab about a month ago. While watching tv (or something) I was reformatting the internal memory in CW recovery and my computer froze completely while reformatting. Anyways, it messed up some of the other partitions I think because it wouldn't boot into 1.1 based flashback, and I couldn't get 1.1 gtabcomb to boot up either.
There are so many dated tutorials around here that I'm not sure which one to follow. How can I repair the partitions and make sure everything is good, while also upgrading my gtab to the 1.2 bootloader so I can install the new flashback. Any help please? Sorry for such a newb questions but I just want up to date info!

You must first research on how to do this before hand. I tryed the same thing that you did and almost HARD BRICKING my device. Know your bootload.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1035983
To my understanding is that Flashback is only offered in the 1.2 bootload so NVFlash is your friend in this case.
yep I'm on the 1.1 bootloader. When flashback 8.1 was released, it was actually released with a 1.1 version, but was pulled shortly because of some problems. It worked fine for me so I just lived with it. Alright I'll see if I can get to stock 1.2 and then flash to the new flashback rom.
EDIT: Ok so if I follow the instructions here, and I'm currently on the 1.1 bootloader, can I just use nvflash to flash over the the 1.2 version of tnt?
(it wont let me post the link, but its on the gtab for dummies nvflash instructions)
Yes you should be able to just be able to flash the Stock 1.2 rom. There are nvflash setups with the stock 1.1 and 1.2 roms that come with the CWM recovery kernal already on them. Being a noob they won't let me attach links from the Dev. portion just yet, but that's how I got mine.
I believe it's nvflash for dummies. The Dev. created a link to the site to be able to download both if needed. Make sure that you have ADB setup first before flashing. Read up on all that from the dev forum.
OK so I managed to fix the partitions through CWM, but I can't get NVFLASH to flash it over to the 1.2 BL. I was able to install the 1.1 gtabcomb but I want to switch boot loaders.
When I click on the .bat file it just says "unknown device detected" I installed the proper drivers ect. This is while I have my tab in CWM. Also I don't know if this is important or not, but when I boot up it says NVIDIA TEGRA Development unit, and in the top right corner there is an android peeing on the apple logo. Maybe I have a weird cwm recovery or something? Am I even in APX mode when im in cwm?
