[Q] - Calendar is off by 5 hours - DJ Streak 1.6 - Streak 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Folks,
something I noticed using DJ streak builds is my Calendar on the streak is off by about 5/6 hours. Which I guess makes sense as I am on the east cost and its about 5/6 hour time different with England where I thought DJ lives. When I check my calendar on the PC it shows the correct time for my meetings. Just the streak is always off. I have enabled my gmail account to sync the calendar and it works..just the time is always off.
Any ideas?

[Q] Question about syncing twitter and contacts.

I figured out the twitter issue i was having, but still facebook wont sync for me.. anyone else?
I had issues with facebook syncing when I first got my vibrant, but at the time I had over 2000 friends on facebook. I pared that list down to about 1200 and the syncing started working without a problem.
Not sure if you're running into the same thing, but it seems to me almost like the sync process is timing out when you have a large number of facebook friends.
Yeah I have a little more than 300 friends so I don't think that's what is happening ha... Thanks for trying tho

Calendar Appointments Showing Up 1 Hour Earlier

I have a user who's Eris has a recurring appointment that shows up 1 hour earlier than it's scheduled to be. He's syncing through Exchange and the appointment shows up at the proper time in Outlook, just not on his phone.
Manually changing each event works but if you try to change the entire series it stays at the incorrect time.
The originator of the appointment won't be back until next week otherwise I would have her delete the meeting and resend it. Any thoughts on what might be going on? All of his other appointments are on time. This seems to be the only one.

Maybe the time zone or DST is off on his phone?
I have the same problem as this with an HD2 running a Desire Android build (MDJ FroYo Sense Clean v. 2.4 [kernel: MDJ S6.1)
I have used HTC Sync to sync my Outlook calendar and contacts to my HD2. This is all OK but the appointment times in both Android and HTC sense calendars are showing as 1 hour early, i.e. Appointment with real start time of 10:00 shows as 09:00.
My time settings all appear to be OK, GMT+0, London for UK. Time is correct. Auto update is enabled and working.
What is more weird is that I have installed the Android version of Pocket Informant, as I use this in WM6.5.x mode, and this shows the times correctly.
I've searched forums for solution and found many fixes for incorrect GMT settings or DST problems, but these do not seem to fit with this issue as Clock times appear to be OK.
Not sure if this is a problem with this build, or a more general Android problem.
Any thoughts gratefully received.
Andy
Well, better than and hour late ;-p

[Q] Anyone noticed email app keeps phone awake with multiple exchange accounts?

Hi, I have 3 exchange accounts set up on my SGS2, two hotmail-based and one for my university. I did have all 3 accounts using push but notice an absolutely massive drain on my battery, phone is kept awake even when idle, the same is true when any two accounts are on push and one is manual.
However when just one account is set up to sync on push and the others on manual then battery use is negligible.
Anyone experiencing similar results or figured out a workaround?
The email app is based on Seven mail, used to use the beta version on my HTC Desire before and had the same 3 accounts on push and worked perfectly, I've tried to install that app but it recognises the existing app and asks to replace it.. which I don't really want to do.
... whole day I wonder what happen with this phone and how come he stays awake the whole day. And this post reminded me how i added an additional account to the mail client just last night .... Any suggestions (except delete account)
PS: Ok, odd thing. Just removed digital clock from widgets, charged the battery fully and the phone isn't awake for 2 hours now ...
Don't quite understand, are you using the Seven app? Or adding the Accounts in through the integrated email client?
Also Hotmail is not an 'Exchange' account, it's just POP3 (or premium pop, whatever Samsung call it...)
I assume you mean the stock samsung email app?
I was having issues with this keeping the phone awake and I didn't even use the bloody thing, it is now in the freezer and out won't be coming out anytime soon.

I find the vanilla email app a good bit better.

[Q] mail drain battery

Hello people,
Having serious problem with my mail since it's drains my battery!
I have 3 exchange accounts (2 Hotmail, 1 MS exchange of my work) and the problem is that something called MAIL_SERVICE keeps my device awake all the time (used betterbattrystats).
For testing proposes I only set 1 Hotmail account, but the problem still remains.
I configured it to be by push so maybe it has something to do with it.
Using cognition 1.31, with ninphetamine 2.0.5 kernel.
In addition I installed the premium mail services that the designer of cognition removed.
added some photos for u to understand better!
thanks thanks thanks!!!
I have been sitting for 4 days in a row to understand better and to fix this annoying problem!!!
Well you have the mail accounts set up with Auto Sync dude, so that will keep the device awake and which is clear by your graph. So it's very normal battery drain will be more than normal. You have to change it to Manual Sync/Refresh to get better battery life mate.
Regards.

Yes I understand what you're trying to say, but I don't think it should behave like it.
For example whatsapp or viber are also push apps but non of them is connected all the time.
In addition, I think its more like the mail is kind of stuck during the communication with the server.
Can more people confirm that the mail should behave like its behaving for me???
Thanks guys

Just noticed mail is awake for one hour and 40 minutes and that's allllot! Couldn't be because of the push
And note that the mail is also using about 50 mb a day which is a looot for 2kb emails and less then 10 mails...
That's the only thing left for me to say its the best device on earth...
If ill fix it I can die happy

[Q] Something that syncs with Outlook/Exchange 2010

I asked this yesterday, but in the wrong place and it apparently got deleted. Sorry!
So, I am loving my Note, except for the fact that Kies will not sync more than 40% with my work Outlook (2010) Calendar. I do not want my work email on my phone, just my calendar. Is there another sync app or something out there that anyone has found to be better that will work????
Also, I'm loving the calendar that came with the Note, I've only had mine a week. Are there better out there? any tweeks that will make my organized or not so life work better??
Thanks so much,
Patti
So I use to stock calendar which is nice and it syncs with all my google mailboxes, but for my work email I use google calender sync on my work desktop and it pushes changes up and down to a specified gmail calender. It works with 2010 32 bit version of outlook. I'm not sure if it works with 64bit yet, but I'd imagine it will eventually. Here's a link to the info:

That totally worked!!!
It took me about 5 minutes to set up, only because I did not read that it was asking for my google login credentials!!! I was putting in my outlook login/password! DUH! Busy day here at work!
Now I LOVE my Note even more and I haven't even Rooted it yet!!!
Thank you theoriginalgiga!!! I've been searching for something like this for weeks and just gave up. It works like a charm. You are a saint imo.
