Hi -
I am extremely new to HTC TouchPro. Thanks to my friend who referred me to this great forum. Monx - you're doing a great job, my friend.
Two days back, I installed Olinex RapahelHardSPL unsigned 1.90.3; then flashed ROMeOS 1.40.1 - had it for a day or two and then today I flashed 1.50.2 (after reading great feedbacks). Things look good to me so far. I heard that using ActiveSync sucks your battery juice a lot as compared to BBCONNECT. I am not sure if installing BBConnect on 1.50.2 has been tested and more importantly would it screw anything up?
Another different question - how to add calendar to the list of applications on the home screen (that slides horizontally) - I dont know a better way of asking this ?n!
Lastly, I heard that TouchPro comes with GPS but doesnt seem to work as it is on my phone. Am I missing something?
Please let me know
Thanks
Mahesh
hey my friend, please use the ROM thread to ask questions about it, ok?
Link is here
edit: about GPS, you can test it with this program attached
I have the Fuze as well and the GPS on it with the .32 radio is pretty bad and I believe lots of other Fuze users here will agree. I can't help you much with BB Connect but I'm going to try flashing another radio, probably .28, and I'll let you know if that helps with our GPS woes.
Morning, Fellow Forumers!
I've been using my HD2 for a few months now, and every day my frustration grows. This thing is unstable as hell. It either stops responding completely, or the phone application hangs (sometimes it's impossible to hang up a call), or just the backlight works, or the UMTS stops working... PAIN AND MISERY! I have it upgraded to the latest official firmware, but it doesn't help at all. Tried the Touch Tools to turn off unneccesary stuff - still no good.
It's even worse when it's BT'd to my Audi MMI. Every 10 seconds or so it's completely stuck for like 2-3 seconds. It looks like the BT firmware has not been optimized at all and whenever it refreshes the phonebook/calls list/etc with my car, the GUI is dead. Fixing that would be great stuff.
So, I'm asking to point me in the right direction. I don't care about warranty or anything, just want this device to be stable! Since the official FAQ is like 10 pages long... is there a FAQ's FAQ?
Basically - what's my first step? Thanks in advance!
PS: It's a retail version (non-branded) purchased in Poland.

As for me I am very happy with my stock Rom,so far...!!
I have no problems with stock and with most of cooked ROMs
Have you tried re flashing the latest stock rom off the htc website?
task29 can solve most problems, however if you have done all those steps and still getting problams, you may have a faulty unit and it might need to be sent back for repair/replacement.
Really sorry to hear about your problems. Wish I could give you a good solution, other than to do a hard reset and then upgrade to the latest ROM. I am running a stock ROM and the HD2 is the best phone I have ever had. And I have had a few. Good luck.
I used my hd2 on a stock rom for ages, and it was stable enough, with the odd crash occassionally. I recommend using a custom rom. Since a custom rom, my battery life has improved dramatically, my hd2 runs faster and is so stable, i cant crash it if i really try!
Duttys V9 is a personal favourite
Thanks for your help, guys. I decided to reflash to chuckyROM's wm + android 2.2. On android, everything works so much smoother. The only problem is in 80% of the cases, phone would crash when I try to perform a BT call. Might be a wrong radio version, will keep trying.

First, to all that have created and contributed to this site, Thank you.
Now I know I'm new here and I'm probably going to get murdered for posting this but I'm completely out of ideas. I've tried searching everywhere and I can't find any answers. I tried flashing the Axura 2.1 and 2.2 roms and my GPS stopped working completley. I've tried using several different modems with the roms. I tried flashing the macnut roms and had the same result.
I've tried searching but there are so many gps problem thread that I can't find the answer(unless I'm skipping over it). So now I'm hoping that somebody will be able to help me out.
Sorry for my ignorance but I really am desperate cause I really wanna get this $500 phone working like one
this needs to be in Q&A, but; ODIN to JFD/JI6, then run the GPSRestore app from the market. If your phone's GPS still doesnt work, then it's the GPS hardware.
I've run GPS on all TW roms, and each one locks quick and accurate.
JL5 and JL5 GPS are spot on.

I don't think you're going to get murdered for posting a question. It just needs to be in the right forum. Next time please post questions in the Q&A forum to keep the Dev forum clutter free.
As far as your problem goes, when you say not working is your gps seeing satellites and just not locking or not seeing any at all.
Is your roof made of solid tinfoil???
Just kidding, but seriously, Odin back to JFD or some other 2.1 firmware and download GPS restore or something like that from the market and go stand OUTSIDE and test it.
If this fails, then you have faulty hardware. Send it to Samsung.

exactly. or your house or where ever you are is getting bad GPS signal. my gps worked flawlessly for a while now. it's just with newer modems, they lock faster.
I had similar issues to what you describe. My GPS would not work with any ROM combination. Sometimes I could see satellites but I would never get a lock. Tried anything with no luck. Finally- I did three things, and I can't tell you for certain which fixed it- but at the end it was fine.
First thing was I followed the hardware fix guide at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=878970 and then I installed a JL4 ROM (I hear JL5 works great too), left settings as stock and made sure Server FQDN Type was set to Auto config instead of www.spirent-lcs.com. Then I went outside and waited like 10 minutes in LbsTestMode "Get Position Test". Now my GPS works!
I haven't had a real problem with the GPS ever since JI2, and the GPS performance in the Froyo-based ROMs is even better. If it's not working for you at all, then you need to exchange your phone for a new one. You should be able to arrange that with T-Mobile at not extra cost to you.
If you bought your phone through T-Mobile you need to contact them. Jump through their hoops and get a replacement ordered.
Sorry for not putting this in the right forums. If a mod has to move it....
This is exactly whats happening. Whether I'm outside or not, the little gps icon blinks but it says my location is temporarily unavailable. I don't think its hardware cause this is a brand new phone that was working yesterday before I installed the ROM. Thanks for the suggestions. Some more are welcomed
no rom or modem fixed my gps completely till i was on eugene's ginger clone r2 and flashed the JL5 Modem WITHOUT doing the Samsung GPS restore from the market. In fifteen seconds i was locked with less than 10m.

This is a brand new phone. Its my 3rd one in lest than a week. This GPS was working to some extent right before I installed the Axura rom. I just did a the GPS restore and now it still won't lock onto my position but it will do the navigation(poorly just like before) to a spoken destination with voice guidance. If I ask it for a map of something it will bring those destinations up also. I'm at a complete loss but I do like this ROM better than Eclair.
samsung restore isn't in the market anymore.
Can someone upload the .apk please ?
Thanks

Hey guys,
I'm having some major issues with GPS on my g/f's I5500. For some reason GPS isn't working at all. I ordered this thing online and haven't been able to get it working despite numerous attempts with suggestions from this forums and others.
Amongst *trying* to get a decent baseband on this thing, I've tried the recommended GPS optimisation apps and such to no avail. Regardless of application nothing is picking up any GPS satellites, which makes me think this is a firmware or hardware problem. I'm of course hoping it's not the latter of the two.
This is a european I5500 (looking to have an optimal configuration with froyo in Germany) being used in Germany.
I'm to the point now that I believe I need to downgrade this to a typical German 2.1 (or just an older 2.2 rom perhaps) and then let Odin update the phone accordingly. I've had a little bit of a hard time really understanding the Galaxy 5 scene (X10 user normally).
Anyone saying I need to "learn how to use the search function" can respectfully keep his opinion to himself as I have definitely given this a shot.
My basic understanding of the I5500 scene at the moment is that since 2.2 was released mostly all attention is being given to CM7.1 and roms designed for daily use are harder to get running due to bad links to Team MAD's site.
Could anyone give me a hand?

Thank you very much for reading and helping
sorry 2 x same post so deleted
Perhaps this link will help you a bit?? http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/news/2009/01/assisted-gps.ars Because your phone has AGPS instead of GPS
I am totally in love with having ICS on my Vibrant! Big thanks to our great dev community!
The only drawback with every ICS ROM I've tried is GPS. The ROMs I've tried all were able to get GPS locks after lots of massaging, but never worked when I needed them, even after reboots. Long lock times, weak locks, lost locks while driving, etc.
My GPS on 2.2 ROMs was great, so I know it's not insufficient hardware. I've tried all of the fixes and such I could find on the forums.
If anyone is running an ICS ROM and has usable GPS, I would love to know what you're using - ROM, kernel, modem, any flashable/manual edits to the GPS.conf, etc.
Thanks!

my GPS works, by works i mean not just sattelite locks but in actual driving use and after deep sleep.
ROM: frankenKANG of AOKP, Slim ICS, and ICZ
Kernel: THS, modified splash image and added more governors / IO schedulers, no other changes made.
Modem: JI6 (Southern California)
GPS.conf: Custom -- posted -- extract from zip, push manually, rw-r--r--, reboot
cheers!
GPS Better than Ever!!
Look below to see what ROM I'm running, I get great reception and lock within 10 sec's 15 max, and I use it all the time to pilot my large car around for a living!!.
Of course I did the antenna contact mod using a piece of plastic shaped just right to keep contact pressure solid so the signal is strong!!
If you haven't done the GPS antenna Mod yet your never gonna get a good signal until you do, This is a known Samsung design flaw!
Once you do it and set the right SW up and region where you operate at, you'll see a huge improvement. That is if you have a T-959 Vibrant??
My GPS works like a charm, my ICS rom is also in my signature below.

So you're using the kernel that comes with Slim? I'm currently using that, and my gps.conf is basically the same as yours. I guess it's time to try the hardware fix... Thanks for your help.

Yes. I am running a T959 Vibrant. I'm working up the nerve to take my phone apart to try the hardware fix. Thanks!
I was in the same boat as you. I tried the fix posted here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1370910 and it did the trick.
I am currently running ICS Passion v13.1 with icy glitch v14 6B kernel

thanks!!!
Wow - I just did the hardware fix, and it's like night and day! Thanks for the advice!

GPS with ICS Passion - Different Kernels - Rebooting Seems to Work
With several Kernels I have been able to get a quick lock right after I flash. After a day or 2, I check and nothing. Tonight I checked after I had flashed Kiss 5.1 a few days ago and nothing, I rebooted and got a quick lock again. After a 1/2 hour or so, nothing again, rebooted and got another quick lock. I got my phone in Feb 2011 and have not tried any hardware fix. Any suggestions?
Have so far had time to try ICZen, ICS Passion, and just flashed SlimICS 3.1 a minute ago.
No problem here with GPS, I was running Glitch on ICZ and Passion. I'm keeping Slim on the stock rom kernels and GPS is quite snappy.
I've flashed all my roms after a clean wipe/format. I've had little to no problem every time I do.
ICS Passion w/Kiss 5.1
I did the lifting of the GPS tab on my phone as a hardware fix and after phone settles for any time I have to reboot to view satellites and get a lock. Any suggestions?
