I think it may be the compass app. It was doing that to me on 1.6.1. Seems to time out and reboot if it can't locate your position fast enough. I finally got it to work if I opened another app requiring location (weatherbug) immediately before opening compass.
Also, even after calibrating, it never pointed north. Pointed WNW or ENE.

I'm still having problems with my GPS after installing Axura Rom 2.2.5.9. My GPS was working fine before this upgrade and I've tried all the fixes and it's not helping me. My GPS spotted 11 and 6 - 8 is in use using GPStest app but when I'm using navagation, it's always stuck on "getting driving direction" screen. I disable using wireless network and wifi. I don't think it's hardware issue because it was working fine before. I'm not sure if the newest version of Axura will help or should I reflash my rom? Please help!!
Disable data? This will not allow it to get the directions, hence your phone gets stuck at that screen.

I see you posted in the non hardware gps fix. What were you running that it worked so good? I think you need to go back to it or try reflashing what your on. Try a different rom maybe? Last try the hardware fix. A lot of ppl can't get their gps to work for crap no matter what. They send it in to samsung and all they do is reset it. No fix.

I did try GPS restore but no luck, the Nav still stuck on "finding driving directions" screen. I have no clue why is it doing that. I see 10 birds and locked onto 6 - 8 with good signal strengh and Google maps works flawlessly with an instant written direction within seconds.
This is my setting for my GPS
dial *#3214789650# into lbs
first choose:app setting
1:Sessing Type
(Tracking)
2:test mode
(H/W Test)
3p mode
(H/W Sensitivity Test)
4:start mode
(Cold start)
5:GPS Plus
(ON)
6:
(ON)
7:
(50)
8:
(OFF)
second choose supl/cp setting
1: FQDN type
(Custom Config)
2:
supl.nokia.com
3ort
7275
4:SUPL security
ON
5:AGPS mode
(SUPL)
then back to home and reboot your device.
after it, get into lbs again
1.choose delete gps data
2.get position test
3.after located, change 1st "cold start" into "hot start".
completed.

hmm I'm just shooting in the dark here but try clearing the data in google maps by going to settings>applications and then reinstalling? if that doesn't work then flash CWM recovery and reflash the ROM after clearing the cache?
other than those ideas I got nothing, good luck

Hi,
After flashing AXURA 2.2.9.0, everything s great except my GPS that was not working and just a blinking grey icon with backslash line. During NAvigation, it didnt lock, always searching GPS.
Anyone has same thing? Any idea?
Click my general sticky and find the digitaltoddy fix.
hi,
digitaltoddy fix as same as tool in SGS toolbox didnt fix. Stock rom also failed, maybe hardware or other. I live in Japan using vibrant.
Anyway, thanks for noob guides.
Try GPSFix. Download it from the Market. It worked for me.
If that doesn't do it, try GPSRestore also from the Market.

Hello everybody,
First of I want to start by saying that Longhorn is yet the best ROM I tested nd simply loving it.
When I first installed Longhorn and my Streak kept restarting I thought that it was cuz of some apps on my phone, but whenever I reinstalled the phone I kept having the same problem even though I kept only basoc apps installed until last time I installes Longhorn and forgot to configure my 3G connection. Until then I had my 3G constantly on, but with my 3G off I didn't had anymore problem. It didn't restarted once.
To be honest, I do want my 3G connection to work on a permanent basis but I have no idea how to solve this issue. Could one of the more experienced users give me a hand in help?

It sounds like you didn't perform a Dell Factory reset AND a StreakMod Factory reset. It will give you a fresh install and from there you will just have to reload the apps that you want.
I have to say, after using it for almost one month, it never restarted again after aplying ur fix. Mny thanks ;-)

recently my dell streak 5 with dj steve's gingerstreak custom rom and rooted device the wifi when i check the box for it to come on now does not work and the word error shows up and help in this matter would be great
hello there. last time for me, i simply factory default (reset) it and the problem goes. obviously when you do the reset, all the settings gone which usually includes the problematic one...
Update your ROM to something more current first of all and then some effort on your behalf about wifi issues would help also

Hi
I've been using Longhorn 2.9.3 from a fresh install and really love the rom.
Everything works great except where lately I've been having issues where the phone just reboots out of the blue.
This has happened on average 10-15 times this past week.
Can anyone help?
Cheers
Nico

try to check which application that causing this.. a fresh install does not happen at all of random reboots.. not even once...
you could try to wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache and lastly wipe data .. do dell factory reset too if case is worsen...

Cheers mate,
I haven't installed any apps since about a week before this started.
Do you know of any apps that may cause this? as removing them one at a time and waiting for it to happen again is going to take ages.
It seems to have gotten better this last week.. only 1 or 2 reboots.
Further Indications......
Hi folks,
I'm having the same issues with Longhorn 2.9.3 Final, but it only seems to randomly reboot when the the phone is left idle and the screen goes off, So my first attempt was to disable the lock screen - no effect, then I tried certain background apps, such as Go Launcher EX, followed now by Facebook, and a local taxi app, nothing as yet.
I have tried wiping various caches, but it made no difference unfortunately.
If anybody know anything relevant to this issue don't hesitate but to share it with us, please.
I really am very fond of this custom ROM, and don't want to abandon it.
Thanks in advance
Ben.

After going through clearing caches, replacing internal and external SD cards, cleaning the back door blah blah blah I found the following.
When I ran the Maps app, it asked if I wanted to use wifi for location to which I responded yes... mistake! If the wifi location option is checked, the phone seems try to use wifi when it is asleep and ends up rebooting.
I found this by turning the wifi off which made the phone sleep without re-booting and then by turning wifi on and disabling wifi location in Maps.
A long, involved process but now my Streak is rock steady and I don't have to think about reverting to a stock ROM... hooray
.
.
.
Stability update...
Uptime 600h
Previously would reboot twice a day or more
Very happy with the ROM now
I am having this problem also
I have a reboot problem as described above. The problem is that when I disable the use wireless networks option it does not disable. That is I leave the screen. Go back to it and it is still checked.
Please Help.
Web....
what kernel and baseband have you using?
Same here...
I 've been faceing the same problem exactly... latest longhorn randomly reboots, usually first the 3 buttons flash a few times before the reboot...
I downloaded and installed the 407 baseband and radio, then longhorn, did all wipe and dell reset, still the same ...
I've read this forum a few times, still though, would anyone be so kind to direct me towards a link here, where I could in fact revert the dell to an official rom version, before trying anything else?
Tnx in advance

I ended up disabling the Wifi location and my Streak works great. I had some app installed that was messing with me disabling/changing the wifi location settings. Sometimes I could not even disable wifi.
I remove a ton of apps. Was able to disable location via wifi and my phone has been working great ever since.
I can confirm that I had a problem with this and disabling it fixed it.
