[Q] can't install 1.6.1 or 1.7.0 - Streak 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i tried anything: starting from 1.6.0 with factory reset before the rom upgrade and after, same with 1.5.1, took battery out, or button reset.
always same result, first time boot it hangs at 2nd streakdroid image, 2nd time boot it hangs at first streakdroid image.
i didnt put any install.txt file for a clean install
i have clockworks 0.3.6.2
the 1.6.0 works smooth and nice, also after nandroid restore
any ideas?
thanks

You need to downgrade to 1.5.1, do a factory reset, let it fully boot, then flash 1.6.1 or 1.7.0

fission 2.4.3

i just installed fission 2.4.3 for the droid 2 global. now, when i turn it on, it loops at the screen with the word android that repeated;y glosses over. it keeps looping through this animation. p.s. i have a clockwork backup but i really want this to work
Did you wipe cache/data? This usually happens when you don't wipe, so you should try wiping. Turn off your phone, then while holding x, turn the phone on to get into recovery, and in recovery wipe cache/data

I would suggest you restore your backup and try again, except this time wipe cache/data. I had the same problem too. However, I got into clockwork recovery mode by pulling out the battery during the M logo, not by holding X. Try whatever works for you!
There's no need to do it again. Wipe your cache and data and you should boot right up.
I had this same problem. It was because when installing the rom for the first time, I only deleted the cache when installing from the Fission ROM Manager, and not cache+data.
In the end I needed to re-SBF the phone, delete cache+data, root, install Droid2Bootstrapper & FRM, then follow the instructions properly
Can somebody delete this post? I hate vBulletin. It is extremely insecure, and doesn't have all the necessary features one would expect from a bb.

noob custom rom questions

my dell streak was deliverd this morning, already rooted it now im concidering a custom rom(streak droid 1.8) but i have a couple questions
what is the best rom manager to use as i have searched the fourums and cant seam to find a definitive answer
does streak droid come with the android market app
There is no rom manager that works properly on the Streak.
Streakdroid does include the android market.
You can use this guide to install Streakdroid 1.8.0 on your phone.See the section on latest Streakdroid ROM. Ignore the section about flashing amss.mbn if you are already on Android 2.2
1.8.0 release thread
I recommend that after flashing streakmod recovery to your phone that you do a nandroid backup of your current system. That way you can always restore it. Do this before making any other changes to your phone.
Note: a full reboot will overwrite streakmod recovery with the stock recovery. So when you first install streakmod recovery as you reboot hold both volume buttons down to go to recovery, don;t let the phone fully boot. Do your nandroid backup and then install the 1.8.0 ROM. I also recommend wiping the cache partition and dalvik cache before installing the new ROM.
thanyou for your help now running streak droid 1.8

CM7 Install Failure

I wouldn't post normally but I've tried everything.
Odin EB01 with PIT JT's CWM Wipe CM7 build 4 nothing
From ComRom 2.0 JT'S CWM Wipe CM7 build 10 nothing
Those aren't the only one's I've tried but numerous variations of each. I get everything from status 7 errors with build 10 to SD card mount errors with build 4. I really want to try CM7 but I just can't get there.
Can anybody help or just throw some ideas out there?
By build 4, do you mean 7/4? If not, the 7/4 build seems to be the best to start with. That is what I had to do. Also, did you flash the CWM fix?

Yes that's what i meant.
I followed the same procedure and got a boot loop the first couple of times. Finally I read something about not wiping data (factory reset), that did the trick. I just wiped cache and dalvik when going to build 9 (I guess it should work with 10 as well)

I've gone back and fourth three times between com rom 2.1 and cm7 and
Every time I just odin eb01 and the atlas pit, fully boot, odin cwr 3-30 fix all, immediately three finger boot into recovery, wipe everything, flash cm7 build 7/04, boot fully, back into recovery via power menu, flash test build 9 ...(don't remember the date) without wiping...hope this helps?!

So you flashed CM7 build 4 not using JT's CWM?

Thanks man-this worked for me when nothing else would.
This is crazy how I can't get absolutely anything to work
I was in the same desperate situation you are until i did the following (worked on mine and my brother's phone):1- odin back to eb01 with the atlas 2.2 pit file and let it load
2- odin the cwm recovery.all file
3- install Evil Fascination 3.6 though cwm (wipe data factory reset, cache partition, and dalvik first). Evil will do the voodoo conversion don't touch it until it loads completely.
4-Flash jt1134's cwm fix thats found in his cm7 op. Reboot recovery and make sure you're on it. I think it is 3.0.7x
5- On jt's recovery, do a factory reset, cache partition and dalvik wipe
6- Install cm7 09-04 build and let it do the conversions and load. I swear it installed in less than 5 min.
7- Once it loads up get into recovery which at this point should be4.0.x. Flash gapps. Reset and let it load
8- Go back to recovery(always through power button) and flash build 10 09-13 NO WIPES.
9-profit
I tried that didnt work I just gave it up at this point I'd been trying for hours. Thanks

Thank you very much. I thought I was screwed. I was able to get back to stock. Now I will be eventually making my way to CM7.
Edit: I followed the steps perfectly and was able to get to CM7 7/13. Thanks again.

Cant install roms!! Help!!!

Just picked up a streak i think it was on att 1.6 i rooted then installed streakmod recovery and tried to flash the dcs .7 rom and the gingerstreak 2.4.4 and after installing i get a billion force closes. How can i get this thing up and running?
Edit: Fixed by doing a reset from the first dell recovery menu before streakmod
Try wiping an cache then reinstall the ROM.
If it was on 1.6 you should let it OTA update to Froyo.
If it was on Froyo and you installed GB you probably just need to wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache and then do a factory reset.
Weird. I did a factory reset from the first dell recovery menu and that seemed to work

Milestone x2 will not reboot from recovery

Hey guys, need some assistance here
I'm currently running DKZ's CM9 alpha 5 i decided to nand before applying the supercharger script. I was able to nand successfully, but whenever I try to reboot out of recovery, it hangs at the motorola logo. I have tried battery pulls and clearing cache, but no dice. I even tried restoring the nand i just made to no avail.
any ideas before I do a fresh install of CM9 or SBF?
i would wipe everything three times, if that doesnt work reflash cm9, if that doesnt work then sbf.
