Vibrant gps issue using bionix 1.2 - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My gps will not lock at all since I have flashed from nero to bionix v and now 1.2. I don't use my gps often so it is not the end of time and I follow som's directions to the letter when ever I flash any team whiskey roms and I have never had any bugs until now. Does anyone have a gps fix?

Try flashing a different modem. My GSP and data were both crap with KA7. They were both much better with KA6.

+1 ^. You could also try GPS restore. Downloaded from the market. Haven't used it myself cause my GPS has always worked. But I have seen alot of people use it and it fixed their issue.

mms is broken. It's the new herpes for vibrant.
Oh that's no problem I don't use mms anyways anything else

This is the first 2.2 rom that has given me absolutely no issues.. including battery issues. Seems ultra stable, very snappy response, gps works like a charm.. I couldn't be happier.
I haven't had any more problems sending or receiving mms than I have stock or on any other rom(it has always been a bit buggy)
I used to have axura but I switched I had the worst data connection...really irritTed me so I went to obsidian..

I tried 3 roms yesterday (my daughter was home sick, sleeping).
Out of R14, Nero Beta 1, and Axura 2.2....
Axura is SO much better, for me. To be fair to Eugene, I was lazy and did not ODIN to stock before flashing R14.... Nero is not ready yet in my opinion, but it will be amazing. Axura 2.2 is rock solid and fast.
Of course, all of these are going to be irrelevant soon.
I was having problems with it. I was running it without any mods and I always ODIN back to JFD before I flash.
It would randomly just reboot or occasionally hard lock on me.
I ODINed JFD and back to Auxura serveral times, even without restoring my Titanium Backup stuff. I really liked it, but I have no clue why it did that.
I've been using Axura 2.1 for about a week now and haven't noticed any problems. I send probably 200 - 300 SMS a day and 20 - 30 MMS a day. No problems.
It just works, also flashed the JL1 modem = amazing!

What difference do you see with that modem?
It seems like with Axura I can hear quiet, high-pitched clicks when I'm talking on the phone.
regarding the modem, I imagine experiences will vary... but I am finally able to get 3g in my office thanks to it.
I'm using axura since 2.0 had been released. so that's a long time i think. so far it didn't let me down. Using JL1 modem.

Have been using 2.1 for about a week. Had the first 'lock n reboot' today, softwares that I had open at the time are:
Music Player
GPS Test
MapDroyd
SportsTrack
GPS antenna
Must had too many things going on for the CPU to process.
The only real problem for me is after i reboot my phone and i use launcher pro it always has a wait and force close option. It only happens to launcher pro and this rom. It Always happens on the second media scanning it just freezes. I have to kill launcher pro so it could work again.

I installed the ROM and installation got terminated due to error in Line 11 and after that mobile is not starting up. Plz help me
Axura works great for me. Regarding the mms issue. If you install handcent from the market (its free) Then you can send and recieve mms with no problems. One minor problem Ive had, and its only happened 1 or 2 times since Ive installed it is that after turning the phone on it doesnt pick up a signal, stays on searching. But a simple reboot fixes it.
nope no problems
i love axura rom
in my opinion i think is the best
and mms does work for me
Have had gps lock problems, mms problems, and the task manager wont always show the current apparently. Nothing too big though.

[Q] No WiFi in custom kernels?

WiFi doesn't work with any custom kernels. I tried Dragon, DoW, and Dead Horse flashed over Bionix v 1.2.1, and none of them have WiFi, even after a restart. Re-flashing any official kernel works just fine. Since I don't have data, this kinda neuters my phone. Anyone have any suggestions?

Aw. In that case, the custom kernels probably aren't worth losing Bionix.

Wifi works great for me. It's got to be something with your wifi settings.
Bionix-v1.2
Dragon kernel v4 Test4

Does your wifi work on stock? If not you might wanna look into some of those radio mods, perhaps similar to the gps antennae issue with poor contact...not sure if they share the same issue though.

Yes, the reason I suggested trying a different rom wasn't so much to give up on bionix, but more to narrow down your issue. This is a unique isue to you, pretty much, so unfortunately you're going to have to do you own troubleshooting.
You can also try reflashing Bionix, which wil likely also fix the issue. More than likely it's something that happened since you flashed your rom that has caused the issue.
Once you reflash, boot up and wait 10 min, then flash the kernel you want. Then make sure your wifi works. If it does, proceed to add back all your apps, etc, but continually make sure your wifi is still working. That's about al I can tell you.
I tried reflashing Bionix 1.2.1 with its default kernel (KB1), and WiFi worked fine. I then later tried Dragon, and it didn't work. If I get the chance I'll try a different ROM. Any suggestions as to a good alternate?
Hm. Flashed DoW and it magically worked. That was odd. Thanks all!

I am new to the Fascinate, coming from the eris on which I ran multiple different roms, I have my Fascinate rooted and I wan to run Kaoscinate, just want to know if there is anything special I need to do for this rom or do I just flash it? Thank you in advance

You need a voodoo kernal and make a backup.

Removing kaosinate might get a bit tricky though. I had to odin back to di01 and start over. Your mileage may vary of course.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Hey
Instead of going all the way back to dl01 why not just flash eb01 with odin from here... http://www.droidforums.net/forum/sa...roms-w-root-new-clockwork-updated-2-11-a.html
By the way, kaoscinate is an awsome rom is you can live without sensuous, wifi, and bluetooth.

what rom should i use?

i need a new rom. asop 1.1 is starting to get a little bit old for me. i would like 2.2.1, i NEED wifi calling, and NO voodo but the ability to use oclf lag fix. any suggestions? thanks in advance
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
If you NEED wifi calling then 2.2.1 is out of the question.
Also I would highly suggest you to use voodoo instead of OCLF. It is much more stable and even though it scores lower on quadrant it is indeed faster. Don't be scared of it .
So here are a list of suggestions
Axura
Bionix
Trigger
yea bro oclf sucks big time.. i recommend you to use trigger 2.8! ive been using trigger for a while now, and its the best rom out there in my opinion! dont be scared to use voodoo youll grow to love it =D
okay so if i stick with 2.2 are there any options for wifi calling? i looked at your suggestions and i like them but it doesnt seem they have wifi calling availiable. if they do are they built in or do i need to flash them seperately? if i need to flash it seperately how do i go around doing that?

With Trigger, I have an app called Bloater. Open it up and at the bottom you will be able to just press "Install" on Wifi Calling and done.
With Bionix I think you have to flash the wifi calling separately. You do that just like you flash a ROM except you choose the wifi calling zip instead.
alright cool thanks for the help, il think il go with trigger! does the bloater app come preinstalled?

Reflash cm7 requires SBF

I have been having amazingly annoying wireless issues with cm7 on my dx2, to the point that I'm cutting into my data plan most times without me even knowing it. I want to flash cm7 again, but do I absolutely have to Sbf first, or at all?
I have a nandroid backup of my stock 2.3.4 pre cm7,can I just restore that and flash cm7 over it? If so should I do that knowing I have issues with cm7 from that? I didn't clear the big3 prior to flashing cm7 the first time but did per the steps in the beta thread, as will as a few times since.
So should I sbf, or restore and flash again?
Sent from my MB870 using XDA App
If you are having problems you should definitely sbf and wipe data. Start over fresh to make sure no fragments of previous mods are lingering around.
However, the wifi issue seems to be a problem in cm7 for some. I had it and installed wifi helper. It didn't fix the problem just reconnected wifi when it would drop. I assume that's what you mean by wireless issues. If so, you might try wifi fixer before sbf and wipe.
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA App
Thanks for that, many people have posted saying that didn't fix the wifi related issues, but I will indeed give wifi fixer a go first before sbf...
Sent from my MB870 using XDA App
I have had similar issues with Wifi and radio/data connectivity. I believe that there are some further tweaks that need to be made but as I understand Dragonzkiller is not making any more adjustments to this ROM but rather focusing on CM9
However, I have found that booting into CWR and wiping cache and Dalvik Cache has improved things. The wifi issues will be ongoing but for me I rather live with that than stock.
I've been using an app that seems to work well as far as keeping wifi on. Before, I did change settings to having it never sleep. It did fix it. Maybe once or twice I noticed it shut off. But a lot less than before I made the changes. But anyway, I am using this app called llama-location profiles. It pretty much changes the state of your device based on location and other triggers. For instance, I have it set to turn wifi on when I get home and to leave it on as long as its connected to MY wifi or leave the area then it will turn wifi off. Since using this, I have not once had a problem with my wifi turning off. The app does a lot more than just that too so I recommend it regardless.

What's the resource usage inn that app? Strangely enough I gave up after wifi fixer as well as multiple sbf and flash didn't resolve. i flashed liberty instead, and zero Wifi problems. So not the device, not the environment, all that's left is configuration and software. I'm fairly certain I had it configured right, the no sleep policy didn't add much stability, appeared to just ignore it. Bah! I want to run cm7! :[

To get to Liberty or cm7 did you end up doing a fresh sbf to a clean stock 2.3.4?
If you did and then if you didn't add any additional apps for a bit, do you still see the wifi issue on a clean cm7?
I would think this should help you learn if a software program is causing the wifi to hiccup.

Yea I did end up doing sbf to 2.3.4 first then flashing to cm7. I didn't wait to install any apps on cm7, I suppose I could try it and report back. I'd feel better about it if liberty had the problem too but I'll rule it out.

There will be an update for CM coming it may fix your WIFI is its a complete rebuild from source and Im sure it will be a cleaner version then the last. Some things like that connectivity issues may be fixed.
I hope so, the morning after I flashed cm7 again it hung up and disabled my wifi network. No other apps installed. I have been watching the logs and it doesn't appear to do the same thing twice when it goes borton on me. for another release are you talking about cm9?

It's an issue that doesn't happen on stock, liberty, or now eclipse, but every way I flash cm7 it comes back immediately. what do you mean by full wipe? And trust me I have sbf'd enough times in enough different ways to truly call "sbf'd" a four letter word...
Just because it doesn't happen to everyone doesn't mean it's not a cm7 issue. To be fair I'm not _sure_ it is a cm7 issue but I'd like to prove it's not, and haven't had real good luck doing so.

I am truly sorry YOU went over your data plan....and by no means am I bashing you, I believe that dragonzkiller is dedicating his time to US, US, US.
I too have noticed my wifi turning off when I leave my phone for 5 minutes, but hey, look at the ROM....my God we have Cyanogen on our DX2...with a locked bootloader. I live a rushed lifestyle in a fast paced New Jersey, if I can deal with my patience I'm sure you can too.
