is there a way to trick Pc Companion to get the latest update even if it isn't avaible in my country yet?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=826875
If your service provider doesn't deliver it, Im afraid you won't get it that easily...
I was stuck in .504 ROM and neither SEUS nor PC Companion offered any update, they kept telling me my phone already had the newest software.
Just go ahead an flash. Im damn happy 'cause Im running .435 Generic global ROM now, with dualtouch working, all features at 100% and all the other improvements

there is a very simple way to do it: root your phone, change in system/build.prop these 2 lines:
ro.semc.version.cust=XXXX-XXXX
ro.product.name=X10_XXXX-XXXX
change the X with 1234-8465
restart phone and run SEUS

I followed that guide, and it worked great for me. Thanks man!
I just used the flash program and put the latest firmware on my phone. Its quicker in my opinion the waiting on SEUS to run the update, and you don't get all the service provider crap to go along with it.

Because I don't have a choice. I signed a 3 year contract for this phone. Also, I'm not dissatisfied with the X10 (except for the lag) I am infact one of the few people who actually like Timescape

Root explorer, google it. you first need to root your phone
Me too, am looking to get the latest software for my X10 ..
Does anybody have a list of areas each code represents i.e 1234-8465 which area does this refer to ?
Also I have rooted my phone, and downloaded root explorer, located the file default.prop I can see the areas that i need to change within this file. But i keep getting read-only...
no matter what i do its always read-only.. what am i doing wrong? I have root access..

I'm currently running 2.1 Nordic on X10 mini pro. When my country's (SG) version 2.1 is out, is it possible to just change the build.prop in current Nordic version to SG and re-flash via SEUS?
Is there any other thing i should be aware of before i try that?
Thanx in advance.
I tried for the purpose of test to flash Russian 2.1 over Nordic 2.1. It didn´t work.

****, because that's what i wanted to do when the german 2.1 is out. so, if that isn't possible, what do we do then?
edit: i read so much stuff on here the last days, what i'm going to try is de/reinstall SEUS after that, at least move or rename the /db/ folder.
You can flash back to 1.6, root, change build.prop and update again via seus.

I stand corrected. you can´t downgrade to 1.6, but can switch to another version of 2.1 via editing build.prop
It is a good idea to reinstall seus, and delete all directories of Sony Ericssson before making any drastic changes.

vlissine, can u list down which country version u're able to change to? Cuz i tried a few SG version but was unsuccessful.
Yeh u can just delete the settings db and temp folders instead of reinstalling seus I think. Something like that anyway, don't remember the exact folders
Sent from my U20i using XDA App
For 1.6, all we need to do was change the country/product in build.prop and just update via seus. So i'm assuming the same applies to 2.1 as well, unless I'm wrong.
PS: U can't downgrade to 1.6 via SEUS but u can flash to 1.6 via flashtool.
Apparently when you tell PC Companion to Repair, it will obey whatever is in build.prop regardless of the current firmware, thus allowing you to shuttle between different 2.1 firmwares.
Allegedly, anyway. I haven't test this myself.
i just put báck the original build.prop and my phone went into infinite boot loop ????????????/ so weird. any body can help me...
try to reinstall using seus. if not reload everything using flashtool.

I have...well had ... a singapore x10i ....
1. use one root apk ... X10Root 1.0.8
one root apk
2. back up using Titanium ( but people have lost hundreds of contacts having upgraded )or better...sync your contacts and calendar events with google ...its what i did
3. use root explorer to "debrand" ... which is really changing the product codes
uh.... well this then defeats the waiting for updates... I live in the West Indies / Caribbean... so debranding is not an issue at all
4. if your still following me...you will need to debrand twice..one to upgrade to 026 ... then again to get to 2.1
All this is done without having to actually "flash your phone" or use "roms" or " flash tools " .... safest method if your really dying to get to 2.1...I was

I have the X10i from China and it's in 1.6
I did the "official" update to 2.1 but lost Marketplace and everything relating to the West (youtube, facebook, twitter).
I wanted to know if I can go back to 1.6 and use the 1 touch root app to root the cell that way.
After I root it, how can I update the Android OS? Also what is the highest OS that can be run on the X10? Can we use 2.2 if we root the cell?
Thanks.

Flash to nordic or global FW then... There is a tutorial at the Development thread. Use z4Root after you upgrade it too 2.1
Thanks, I'll give it a try.

Still running on the Chinese Android 2.1 though, no market.
At least it's rooted well enough that I can just add files if I want if I can find them.

Well I did try to flash it to the Global 2.1, but even after it flashed, it was still the same Chinese one. So I guess it's something I did totally wrong then.
So I'll just keep it as it, I'm not sure what else I can do besides constantly trying to flash every copy of global 2.1 I can download and hoping that one of them will take.
Thanks for the advice though.
I have an AT&T X10a. I want to flash it to 2.1. Preferably a unbranded/generic rom.

To place in flash mode: press and hold the BACK (arrow) button on the phone while simultaneously plugging in the USB.Your phone has to be switched off.
Disable UAC: means disable the User Account Control settings in your Win7 machine. You can do that from the control panel or just type "UAC" in the search programs and files box when you hit the "START" or Windows logo on the buttom left of your desktop and then choose it from the list and drag the arrow to NEVER.

i have tried this version, and also the global world, and there is another generic global version...
everytime the flasher says press any key to continue ( after doing everything) and quits i unplug the xperia and turn it on and always get the dead phone with the exclamation mark... wat am i doing wrong here ... ive tried 3 different versions so far for xperia x10a to be able to get my att xperia x10 on 2.1 but have failed each time. coming form a nexus one, which is so much easier to root and install roms on this is frustrating the hell out of me.
i have been able to install a generic unbranded 1.6 on the phone and it boots fine but no version of the 2.1 will work... is there something that i am missing. anyones help would be appreciated.
thank you
p.s the x10 i have is a white one from att, dont think the color should change anything though.

I used the Generic Rom to upgrade my AT&T 1.6 x10 to 2.1 but after the upgrade the phone was slow and sluggish. Keyboard response was slow also, I ended up just going to back 1.6. Seems like there aren't any optimizations for speed for x10 on 2.1 =(
What version is fastest and what is the newest? The .504 is only for uk?
2.0.2.A.0.24 Is newer. It has a faster gui and other pros. The other version is available in all the world. Regards
Just get the newest. I'ts rootable and custom themes will be adjusting to it.
Is there a thread or place with all the links to download the latest firmwares (ordered by version)?
I tried this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=825664
But there they don't specify if the firmwares are 2.0.2.A.0.24 or 2.0.A.0.504 (I tried the UK one, but I found that it's 2.0.A.0.504).
I've an X10 Mini E10i. Any help?
Thanks in advance.
Not sure whether .24 is newer. When I plug in the usb pc companion prompts me to update the software even though it's on 0.24. I haven't tried updating cause all it will do is install a patch to remove the root.
As stated in the Wiki:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Xperia_X10_Mini_Official_ROMs
The .24 is newer than the .504
Hi.
I have found very little difference between .504 & .24 (Agreed, .24 is newer) I think that the primary purpose of it was to stop ROOT.
I use JIT and the performance via Linpack is always above 7.00 MFLOPS (Almost twice as fast as standard!). I had these results on both versions.
.504 currently has the better compatability for themes... until people port them to .24.
Hope this helps
