Hi Folks~
I have an XDA (QTEK 1010) had been working perfectly fine, until yesterday. After taking a call, when I tried to make a call I noticed the Speaker Phone activated automatically. I can't hear anything even the tried to play an MP3 from the Media Player but still didn't work.
Then I plugged in the Hands-Free, could listen to the Sound but the Mic seems to be have been disabled. (Even after plug-in of the Hands-Free, the Speakerphone still remains activated).
Pl. HELP !
Thanks !!
the manual say something about holding down the phone button turn the speaker phone on and off
Doesn't work, I've already tried it
Btw am using the following, pl. let me know if the ROM/Radio Stack Versions have to do something with it
DEVICE : QTEK 1010
Model No.: PW10A1
ROM Version: 3.18.04 ENG
ROM Date: 05/22/03
Radio Version: 3.25.00
Protocol Version: 32S54
Thanks !!
You could back up your data and try a hard reset, a bit drastic I know but its pretty useless as a phone at the moment.
Apologies for the Information in Bit & Pieces (am a newbie).
I've already checked after Soft & Hard Reset to the Device, the problem is still there.
Regards
This is exactly what happened to me back in November, after my little Xavier (an XDA) went for a swim in a flooded gutter.
I'll bet that if you go into the Wallaby BootLoader and try the diagnostics, it'll behave itself.
Unfortunately, the news was not good for me: $1500 to have it repaired.
"Liquid Ingression", they call it. *grumble*
I decided against it. My XDA still works as a soundless PDA (or, as it turns out, a hopelessly overpriced Universal Remote Control).

Can you guide me through ? How to run the diagnostics ?
Any help with the Diagnostics ?
I've tried over-writing the ROM, still didn't work ...

Thank you!
Let me try it out ..
Still not working ..
Should I upgrade it to PPC2003 from the YOrk Kitchen ?? Will it help resolving the problem ?
I was thinking if it could be bcz of a loose connection inside the device (altough the device never fell down since I've got it).
Any help would be appreciated.
Rgds/
There's a good chance that it needs vendor support.
Take it back to the place you bought it... if you didn't drop it or get it wet, the warranty should cover it.
Hope this helps. Good luck!
The problem is that there is no Local Support for XDA in Pakistan yet ...
The Only Option I've got is to ship it internationally, which would be Expensive
Just tried Updating the Stack, didn't Work either .. Pretty Strange what else could happen.
If I attach a Hands-Free I get to hear the Sounds, but no Sounds on the Speaker .. person calling me can't hear me nor can I hear them. The Situtation is same I try to make a Call "Speaker Phone On" Pops-UP.
Though I tried to records the Recording, When I speak while the recoding on the playback just gives a huffing sound, no clear Audio.
Stuck with an Expensive XDA with No Phone & No Speaker Sound !!!
From the limited information provided to me by the repair centre, and looking over the details on xda-developers.com, I think your audio chip (or something related to it) may have fried. Mine was caused by water damage... a lot of water damage, at that...
Without the Sound, there's no charm in using it anyways ... bought a new Nokia 6600 a few days back and am using it ... now waiting for the Battery to be drained & when re-charged expecting a miracle to happen
I hope it works again !! I love the XDA !
Guess What .. the XDA is working perfectly fine now.
The only thing I did was to place it in my Drawer for a couple of Days .. Keeping it outta my Sight )
Miracles do happen ;-)
I have this problem now... Although it has not got wet?? Exact same as described as above...
Although in bootloader diagnostics the mic/speaker work fine. When booted in to windows I get the speaker phone coming on automatically, and no sound
Guys,
This problem drives me crazy constantly. The only explanation I found (by empirical approach) as follows:
My XDA works fine always except at winter, when I stay outside, and the XDA surface covered with steam condensate because of temperature differences. Condensate may not be seen visually, but some electronics inside has short circuit or changes in chains resistance which cause XDA to think that ‘speakerphone mode’ is on and misbehave.
To resolve this problem I just keep XDA in the worm place (like stay in apartment) for 30 min and / or plug it to charger which bring XDA to normal mode (by warming it up and thus removing steam condensate). No other ways found so far.
Regards, Andrey
Let me know if you know how to resolve it once and forever (do not advice me to thru it out  )
This solution doesn't work for me
Amazing.. I've tried banging my XDA off of my desk, sticking all sorts of crap in the headphone socket (at this point, I didn't really care if I broke it more lol)... nothing worked..
Then just now, I thought.. hm.. I'll just blow as hard as I can in the little hole... I did this for a good five minutes.. and it now works

Dear all, my Dell Streak phone speaker is not working. But if i turn on the loud speaker or attach bluetooth/hands free device works well.
I already tried to replace the recovery & rom with stock 322, 345, DJ Steve 1.7.0, 1.9.0, but non of it solve the problem.
Is it due to software problem or hardware problem? How can i check it?
FYI, my DS is never fall to the ground and water.
Can anyone help this poor man?
Thanks before.
Hi Marketblack,
same problem with me, because of my loyalty to DELL STREAK,until now i'm still using DS eventhough every outgoing call or receive call use loadspeaker.

Wow, I am almost afraid to root my Streak if this type of issue might occur.
so what should i do rico???
if i've return back to DS service centre at my country, it takes 14 days to repair
Same problem for me.Suddenly stopped working.Only external speaker and hands free works.i have 2.2.2 and the device is with factory settings since i am not familiar with root/flash techniques. If someone knows something about how to fix it it would be nice.In any case,i have already ordered a bluetooth set
I just got my second Dell Streak today. it was shipped to me as 2.2...i ve put my sim, battery and charger and it has asked me to update. now i got 2.2.2. I have tried to make a phone call but, as the same for you guys, my earpiece is not working. BT and speaker phone works well though...
The first streak i had wasnt great either. it always displayed "please send dsp.crash.img to RD" right after an FC on an app that uses sound...this only happens when sounds are used. apps that do not have sound, like browser and messaging, do not trigger the FC. im not sure if you have experienced this too, i hope not.
i think im just not lucky with streaks... im not sure if my warranty will cover a third replacement...
with the second streak problem, im thinking maybe its a hardware fault? like the contacts in the earpiece are loose from the circuit board... i would have done this already if i wasnt afraid of losing my warranty..
it would be great of someone at xda can come up with a solution.
Is there a replacement part for the jack for the steak? Anyone know where they sell the part for it because my friends streak doesnt play music through the jack.
What happened? Not saying that it is, but if he is on StreakDroid 2.0.0, it is known that the audio doesn't play through headphones (unless you use ones with a mic, like the ones that come with the iPhone) otherwise I believe there is a website with a bunch of Streak parts for sale. I'll look for it again when I get home tonight and post back here.

Hi guys,
Since I've owned my Streak (unlocked from Dell) people have complained about poor call quality when speaking with me. Cutting in and out, sounding like a dalick, etc
Recently the complaints have increased in number.
I'm on 351 and rooted. No modifications.
Any ideas??
Thanks

Got similar trouble - no ideas for almost 3 months
The only time I notice that problem, is one of two things...
1. Walk too far away from the phone with my BT turned on
2. If I have wi-fi turned on. Doesn't matter if it is connected or not,
if I have wi-fi on, while on a call, the sound starts breaking up.
Might give that a try?
We hear good, but persons on the other side often asking me to repeat, or even thinking connection is lost.
Wifi disabled by default. Turn it on only when use.

Hi.
I had loads of issues with call quality.I upgraded my rom to 407 from 360/351 and what a big difference.I dont understand whats changed but its much better.
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
Thank you for that! I do want to upgrade, but I'm hoping for a 00 region release before I do. If that doesn't happen by Feb I will go to 407
Sent from my Dell Streak
Strange, but call quality came worse after upgrade.
Right, so that may not be the answer. I will just have to keep wifi off when calling for now. I might set it up in automateit or something.

I had many roms on my streak and experienced call quality problems only once.
That was when I was standing near my regular DECT telephone. Frequencies must have mixed up somehow.
If you're expierencing the problems mainly on the same location, maybe theres some electronic device messing crowding up the frequencies. Just a suggestion...
Other than that, the Streaks are all kind of different. Some people complain about wifi issues, while others never had them, some people can't get fm radio to work while others do... maybe it's the same with call quality
Thanks for your input it happens everywhere, so not really specific location issue.

The update to 407 fixed my issues!

I had same problem until I realized this only happened when on speaker phone. I followed Wayton's advice & no difference. Now I either use the phone as a phone or more often I use my BT earpiece & then there are no problems @ all. I am sending mine away shortly for upgrading so I will let you all know if it's better ore worse.
Ooh, upgrading? What will that consist of?

I'm haveing my baby upgraded to hopefully ICS but most likely Gingerbread. I've known Dan for about 6 years on 4 different forums and the last forum is his own. He is familiar with this forum so I don't know if he is a member or not. I don't have the ability to do it & as a senior on diability, it is too inconvienient to drive all over the greater Vancouver(BC) area to find someone here, but I would have if Dan had not offered.
Yes, an upgrade to 407 ROM susbsided the call quality issues just like the complaints of the person with whom I use to speak !!
They've certainly done something right!
Good luck with the upgrade!

I have the same problem too...i have to remove the battery and set it up again for rebooting....
I have no idea how to fix that but i think it's a ROM bug and updating to ICS will solve the problem

try any third party applications and check problem remains or not...
eg : trail versions of Power Amp or Player Pro
What ROM are you using? Stock or a modded one and GB (gingerbread) or ICS (ice-cream sandwich). Because modded versions have different fixes for them to get things to run stable.
PS
What strikes me strange about your post is you said you brought this to a Samsung service center and they replaced your motherboard.
This implies it's not a ROM/software problem.
Did you buy a used phone? Also I don't know any official Samsung Centers that will replace the mobo for you. They usually replace the phone for some hardware problems like that (but it's possible I guess).
**Because if the service center replaced it, and you still have that problem, then they either didn't do a good job (because they should have tested it to work), or you have some bad ROM flash.

Yes they do well posted on XDA .

Thats probably true as well .
OP suggest wipe phone and flash stock GB rom to test .
Of course it could be your music is the problem .

I had the exactly same problem plus bunch of others which led to service trip.
Phone went to local service center and came back repaired, only to work for two days.
They changed the earphone jack and speaker modules on the first run.
Second time it had to be sended to service it had problems witn wifi and bt.
They changed mobo.
Third time proximity and lightsensors didn't work so they replaced the phone.
Last time my phone hung, the problem was my modded earphones.
I ripped the original samsung earbuds and replaced them with KOSS portapro's.
I had miss-soldered positive and negative on other earpiece... I changed the polarity, and now everything works.
Mysterious...
Thanks for the info JJEgan on the mobo replacements. I guess it's a region/location thing. I traverse mostly from Taiwan and Japan, and they just replace units with any hardware problems after they check it.
Back to the OP:
The music plays fine when earphones not plugged in right? I asked a friend who works at a service center here and he says it can be either the earphone jack is faulty or not connected properly (inside case), or maybe you didn't insert your earphones all the way (lol that's a stretch but never know).

Exactly.... it happens when the earphones are connected... but it is not about connecting it right or faulty....
To others: have you the Same problem with custom ROMs?
