[Q] phone reception fixes for unlocked froyo - Streak 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I now have a shiny new factory-installed froyo. factory-unlocked streak 5. the reception on the phone is bad. I can barely hear the person on the other end of the line and s/he say it sounds to them as if I were at the bottom of a well. how do I fix this?

maybe move the phone around on your ear you have to find that right spot i had the same problem maybe that will work

Thanks, but it's worse for the people I call. They say I'm very far away and fuzzy.
Er, that is, my VOICE is very far away and fuzzy. I'm not terribly fuzzy, even at my best.

i had one streak that was bad like that took it back and now i have no problems sry i cldnt help more

So, that seems to indiicate that my poor reception is a result of dell,s quality rather than a fixable firmware or software problem? Phooey.

SPEAKERPHONE: Anyone having others complain?

First, I love my 3vo, not getting sg2 or anything else silly but I was wondering if anyone else has had their callers constantly complain that they couldn't hear them if they were on speakerphone.
Cheers!
Could you please rephrase the question?I wan't to help but your question isn't very clear.
no, people can hear me just fine when I'm on speakerphone.
now on the other hand, I have a heck of a time hearing them, need some volume hack action to get my speaker volume up to par.

Dan,have you downloaded Equalizer from the market place and jacked up the audio? I have and my back speaker is a lot louder than stock..Too loud and the speaker quality is horrible but you can boost it with that app.

Thanks for the tip, but, this puppy will be on it's way back home once my 4G charges back up. There were just too many irritating 'little things' wrong. The lack of a clear plan for root/s-off from HTC just made it unbearable. While the EQ app would help that one minor annoyance there are far too many other things that might be correctable with software--who knows. These were all things my 4G did perfectly.
No we're going to get people hating on those telling how they returned their phone, and then threads about everybody that returned their phone and then threads about people who hate threads about people who returned their phone even though previously they would all post threads saying "so just return your phone", hating on people who posted about returning their phone.
Nvrmind, I'll just start a new thread about it...lol

Hey man its your money and your phone..Do what you think is best for your purchase..Just spreading the tip out there that there is a way to easily boost the audio..I was actually going to return it for that very reason(back speaker too low) But that App(equalizer) did the trick.
It still sucks when it comes to playing music but for movie audio, voice mails and speaker phone its an A+..Wish I had the Evo 4G speaker but I also wish my Evo 4G took 3D Pictures and video..So screw the music,i'll just wear head phones.
Enjoy what ever phone you go to man, have a nice night.

Thanks man, I appreciate the civility. That's becoming increasingly rare around here these days.
So, yeah, I brought it back. It wasn't easy. That screen had gorgeous resolution and accurate color...and I have anticipated this phone for months, chomping at the bit the whole way...but the weak signal finally put me over the tipping point today after losing a few work calls and not being able to get on XDA in the bathroom at work...that in addition to the completely wacky camera antics (2-3 second to snap a pic, green hue on flash, even worse low-light performance), aforementioned low speaker, irritating 16:9 aspect ratio (narrow portrait), some apps not behaving smooth (launchpro!??)...and a slew of even smaller and irritating things.
If they fix the radio via an update and this thing gets unlocked in a reasonable amount of time I'll be back. I think I've had my heart broken by HTC though...I'll probably wait for the SGS2 to be announced and get the NS4G once we get within 30 days of release. The NS4G radio tested nearly the same as my 4G, the 3D didn't fare nearly as well...and since my office at work and my apartment are both in fringe areas where on my 4G I can routinely pull over 1mbps (sometimes 1.5-1.7ish) but are all over the low-end of the map on the 3D--if I can even get a signal--I think it's safe to say that samsung's sucky 3G radios are at the very least marginally better than the 3D's...perhaps even more than that.
Thanks again.

Problems with your photon

Decided to start a thread detailing problems users have been experiencing. My main problem right is my phone will not emit any sound out of the speaker at random times and I have no clue how to fix it.

Reception difference when speaking on the phone is without question better. If we are talking data speeds I seem to get more bars but my speeds are still the same, really crappy.
Sent from my MB855 using XDA Premium App
I bought the Photon yesterday afternoon. While I was in Best Buy I had my Evo 4G and the Photon side by side and the Photon had 4 bars while the Evo had 2. Same with 4G. This morning while driving I had full reception (bars are so small I can't tell if there are 5 or 6) and my Evo had two. So by that guage the Photon does better. However, here in Indianapolis where there are three Clear towers but no official 4G yet, I could pick up a weak 4G signal in my bedroom and no where else with my Evo. I couldn't pick it up with my Photon.
Now - as for problems - I thought the phone was great until this morning when I couldn't hear anything on three separate calls. I restarted the phone and then could hear and be heard. Later on today it did the same thing until I restarted the phone. Also twice the phone was locked up - wouldn't wake up and I had to pull the battery and reboot. I'm probably going to return the phone to Best Buy. I don't know if I'll get another one or wait a few weeks to see if they get the bugs out (I've read about the locking problem on another forum so I don't think it's isolated).

I've only had two things happen consistently that have made me scratch my head.
One is that if a long enough time has passed that my phone locks with the security PIN, when I unlock it by entering in my PIN and hitting ok there is sometimes a lag before the phone opens up coupled with the dim screen from the lock screen staying dim for a bit. We're talking a few moments at most but noticeable on a phone that flies, otherwise.
Second problem I'm still trying to figure out - manifests when I'm using Glympse (location sharing app that shows your location/speed LIVE to someone else). I've been using this app since it came out - a long time ago. If you're not familiar with this app (it's AWESOME), when you're transmitting, your location arrow is green. If you're not, it's gray. If there's a problem with the transmitting of your signal or location, it's yellow/orange. I'm consistently finding that after initially sending and transmitting ok, if I check the phone 5 - 10 minutes later the arrow is orange and I cannot get it to transmit again. I'm putting this here as a bug because I believe it's a data handoff problem as the times I've seen this happen I had 4G on. I'll experiment more and report. Maybe using Pandora as I drive home this evening.
I'm having an issue with the camera. Even with manually adjusting the focus, have you noticed that this camera is particularly bad at taking close-up photos? My Nexus One never had a blurry or out-of-focus photo, but for some reason the camera on my new Photon takes crap pictures. I've even tried the macro mode and it still looks terrible. This is at about 4 inches away from the object being photographed. I tried in various different light settings too! No luck... I went back to the Sprint store and took some pictures with the demo units -- both of them exhibited the same issue.

I've had the Evo, Evo 3d and no the Photon and the Photon by far has the best reception hands-down. Not just the bars, but the actual signal readouts as well in opensignal or something similar. 3g data is much more solid/stable/quicker on this phone as well. The 3g radio on the 3d seemed to take a "nap" fairly often and just drag along in general.
Can't comment on the 4g though...I rarely ever use it.
It's really bizarre and irritating how if you have a screen lock set, the Photon will display both the regular lock screen with slide to unlock, and then the screen pattern lock.
Every other Android device I've ever played with, the screen pattern lock replaces the regular lock screen.
Have you tried holding the button til its focused? It auto focuses then doesnt snap the pic til you release the button. My camera takes awesome pics.
*just noticed the on screen button snaps the photo when you release the button. The physical snaps the photo after a second or so.

I need someone to help me with trouble shooting a REALLY weird issue.
download this wallpaper (http://euphoricarythmia.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=5551&d=1308386199) and set your brightness to high then auto. Does the left side of the image loose it's detail?
Also, if you use the stock launcher and remove a shortcut does the icon look really crappy?

I am having the same exact problems. Didn't start happening until Day 3 of ownership. I can call, but lose all sound. The only way to fix was to turn it off and on, then its fine. I thought it might have been connection problems with the Air Rave in my home office, but had the same problem with it disconnected.
Sounds like with so many having the same issues these might be caused by 2.3.4 and not the phone hardware. I haven't seen an official bug list for this GB version.
Anyone confirm this? If so, then maybe an upgrade from Moto to 2.3.5 or whatever will be an easy fix if indeed there is one from Google.
The not being heard bug is the most discerning to me. Rest I can live with for now.

Exact same happened to me, but I can add that i think it does it after roaming, but I may be wrong. It's rather irritating; if it keeps happening I might go talk to Sprint.
i received 2 calls today, right in a row and couldn't hear anything on the other end.
rebooted my phone, and its working great again.
only thing other than that minor blip that i've noticed is streaming audio on my mlb at bad app. it sounds like the audio is on fast forward - skipping all over the place.
anybody else experienced anything like this with streaming audio? i used tunein this morning and noticed it very slightly as well.
I'm having the same phone audio issue as everyone else. My wife, who has the Photon, experienced it this afternoon. Hopefully someone finds the cause or a fix soon. Other than that, I love the phone!

Now you guys are worrying me. I'm not someone who uses the actual phone part of the phone a lot. I might use the phone to speak to someone maybe 2-3 times a day for a minute each, if that. In fact, I can go entire days without using the phone to make a call so if I've got these problems I likely won't see them manifest. Still, I don't want to experience them at all when I do.
Speaking of which, do any of you find the vibrate options for receiving calls odd? Under SETTINGS > SOUND > VIBRATE PATTERNS, there are four choices. "Dot vibe" is the only one that feels like that. It goes "buz buz buz space buz buz buz".
The "dash vibe" is like "buuuzzz buz buz buz buz"
The "Fast vibe" is almost worthless, going "bzbzbz"
And the "Long vibe" is anything but! It's seriously "buz bzbz bzbz".
I can barely feel any of these when the phone's in my pocket. Do you guys see the same types of patterns I tried to describe with my buz and bz's or is my phone vibrate jacked? I mean, I can't see how the "long vibe" can even be that - I expected the long steady vibrate at the very least.
I've been waiting for an excuse to try Sprint (from Verizon) and with the bad battery life of the 3DO and mediocre reviews I finally made the jump once people started raving about the Photon.
Here's what happened to me:
First picked up the phone, booted it up, went through the set-up questions, got to the "add accounts" set-up for email and social networking links and the phone froze - this is before I even got to the main screen. Had to take the battery out to reset.
I downloaded some apps, including the amazon apps, which it didn't like, and the phone froze two or three more times throughout the day. I also had spotty coverage, particularly at home in NYC. I did a data factory reset and the problems persisted. The next morning I went back to Sprint and tried to get a new phone figuring I might have gotten a dud. They didn't give me a new phone but the manager said it should've been turned on to accept Sprint only coverage and that was the problem. He fiddled with a couple other settings and now the reception problems are better. It still has crashed a number of times and I get FCs a lot.
I'm coming from an old BB Curve so this is my first true smart phone though I do have a CM7 Nook, which seems to be less buggy. I'm pretty disappointed with the bugginess but the phone still seems pretty cool otherwise. It seems to respond quicker than my Nook - which it should. I don't know what to think about 4G. Here in NYC it's pretty spotty for everyone that I know who uses Sprint so it makes me think that at this point 4G might be a waste. I also don't notice the Photon having any more bars than the people around me who have an Evo 4g and an Epic 4g. I can't help but wonder if I should've just stayed with Verizon and gotten a Droid X2 or something.
That's all I got for now.
** update - a couple of days later and Go Launcher installed. I'm very impressed. I love this phone. It seems to be stable at this point. I compared it's reception again, measuring its bars vs the Epic, HTC shift and Evo 4g and it was consistently better than those phones.

Ah, that does help the camera take its time to focus! Good job pointing that out - I probably would have never noticed it.
I still have artifacty/grainy images in lower light settings, but I guess that's the best I can expect from a cellphone's CCD. Here's to hoping one day my phone will take as good a photo as a point'n'shoot.

[Q] Echo/I hear myself when talking to a person. Defective Photon? or known issue?

Hi,
Just got my Photon, and it seem's when talking to someone i can hear myself talk. On speakerphone it's fine. I checked and the echo is on my end, the other person does not hear it. I went to another sprint store to test floor model and i also hear it. It's not horrible, but you can definitely tell that you hear yourself as your talking.
Does anyone else have this? I'm a little worried that this might be a known defect since i noticed this on another photon? Can anyone comment?
thanks

I've not had this issue or heard others complain, but I've had this happen on occasion with all past phones. I chalked it up to tower and signal strength and could never reproduce it intentionally. I'd sometimes have to ask the other person if I could call them back and it went away on the callback.
BTW - my fat finger hit thanks instead of quote, so you've got a head start on your thanks meter.
Usually (on any phone) when hearing yourself or echo; turn the volume down.
I've actually been hearing this too, but it's odd. Not a normal echo. Instead, it almost sounds like the phone is hollow and my voice is echoing back through the physical shell of the phone.
This is oldschool sound y'all just used to the phones that cancel your voice out.

Atleast i wasn't imagining it. What sucks is that i hope it's not a global issue, hopefully my phone is defective or there's a setting i need to change. Going to go back to the store today and see what they tell me.

I saw that too in my google search, it didn't work. I even tried switching to Sprint Only under networks and still the same thing. I really hope this is just a defective phone, i cant imagine this skipped motorola's quality control.
This is intentional guys. It's not a defect or a hardware/software issue. It's designed to give you a richer sounding conversation. Other phones /manufacturers have been too cheap/lazy to do this, I'm glad moto did. There aren't any settings you can change to "fix" it because there isn't anything to fix. The swapping the phone won't do anything either.
The phone is working as it was designed to.

Richer sound? I call this a major quality control f*ckup. Nothing personal towards you, just my opinion. I should not hear any other noise then the intended one. I will be going back to my evo until they fix it.
In any event thanks to everyone for clarifying this.
It's an intentional design decision to fix the problem of people rudely (and unnecessarily) shouting into cell phones in public places. Think back to your childhood, when you made phone calls on a real non-cordless landline phone whose wires had a direct signal path from the handset all the way to the central office. Those phones echoed back a small amount of your voice from the earpiece, and that was exactly how people liked it because if it stopped, you knew beyond doubt that something happened to the phone line and you were now wasting your breath talking. It also kept you from shouting into the phone, because you would have annoyed yourself as well as the person unfortunate enough to be on the other end of the line.
I'm glad Motorola is now officially non-evil. HTC and Samsung have come a long way, but Motorola is a company that genuinely knows how to make a *telephone* and how to design radios that work really well. There's a reason why Motorola has survived into the 21st century despite hardcore competition from Japanese technology and cheap Chinese imports -- their best stuff is really, really good. One advantage of being a company that's been around for about a hundred years is the fact that they have engineers who've worked for them since the 70s and REALLY understand analog signal design. Motorola has guys working for them who understand radio and analog signals with the same passion that we understand digital electronics and programming. It makes a difference, and it shows
The echo has happened to every cell phone I have ever had. Have even had it on some land line calls. It is not an every time thing, just once in a while. I do not think there is anything you can do to prevent it.
When I start hearing my voice its usually because the other person hasme on speaker or they have their in call volume too loud.

I liked this feature immensely when I had my photon. Definitely made the conversations sound richer!

Guys...... this feature is technically called "Sidetone" and I'm personally very glad this is in the Photon.
You ever been around some jackass who is basically yelling into his phone (which never actually helps the other party "hear" better)? I bet sidetone would have helped quiet him down a bit. It helps to keep your voice under control as well simply mimicking what you hear anyway when naturally talking out loud. Your head has builtin sidetone
Hello everyone,
I'm considering getting the Motorola Photon mainly for its sidetone and wondered if you still get the sidetone when using a headset thru the 3.5mm jack?
Thanks!

[Q] Rezound problems with call quality, advice please?

I got my rezound on Dec 3rd at Amazon Wireless during that 1 cent sale.
The first one had some issues, so since then I've had 1 replacement.
I know its past the date of no return, but curious what my options would be, and what you guys think I should do.
People constantly complain that my voice is cut off often, and/or muddled, yet the always sound good to me. At this point i'm thinking its a signal issue. I have the extended battery and this problem gets worse when i'm using it.
So, tonight the fiance tells me that my phone is low, to speak up, blah blah. Well I am speaking up and its frustrating. These are issues that one shouldnt have to deal with on a new device.
My previous phones: Motorola Rokr (I think), LG Chocolate, Motorola Droid, and the HTC Incredible didnt know exhibit these issues at all, and I never once had anyone complain in the last 5 years till I got the HTC Rezound.
I'm holding the phone in multiple ways, making sure not to cover any holes.
What would you do? Is the only thing I have available to me is going through Amazon Wireless for a refurb? Or is this a build quality that I will experience again and again. BTW, I live in a city, with excellent 4g coverage, and I know a neighbor has a new Moto Razr with 0 issues, and he rubs it in quite often.
Thanks for any advice you have to offer.
Update: Well I got my Razr Maxx and have played with it a few hours. Anything I say is just my opinion, so don't shoot me.
The Maxx's call quality is better, and the callers said I sound much more clearer than any of my other phones (Chocolate Touch, Incredible, Rezound). I'm getting a bit better signal (dbm) here at my place, but I care about the quality of my calls and my data connection the most, and they are doing fine.
The camera isnt as bad as ive been reading in the reviews. The pictures i've taken are lacking a tad bit of sharpness that the Rezound had. This could be fixed via a 3rd party app. Will look into it.
The UI is about as smooth. But the wallpaper in Motoblur scrolls with the screen and it still keeps the smoothness. I installed Go Launcher EX and its as smooth as the incredible for me. On the Rezound Go launcher was fairly blah performance wise.
Smart actions rock. I usually use Tasker and smart actions does enough that I won't be loading tasker until I see a need.
The display, well, nothing beats the Rezounds display. HD movies on the Maxx are decent, but not as sharp as the Rezound. I believe the Rezound has 90 PPI or so on the Maxx and you can tell.
The speaker for music sounds decent, with a bit more bass (on a speaker that small, not sure you want to call it bass), and sounds pretty good.
Battery Life is great, but with a 3300 mah battery, what do you expect. I already set a smartaction for 12:30am to 7:00am to turn off wifi, data, turn on airplane mode (wasnt sure if airplane on this phone would disable wifi), and a few other things. Good stuff, but nothing that a third party can't do.
Motoblur seems to have apps to do Remote Desktop, and DLNA works fine with my WDLIVEPLUS box.
I've already rooted, and froze some Verizon Apps.
I know this is a Rezound forum and you are probably asking "Why is he talking about a dang Maxx?!" A few pm'ed me to just compare the two phones once I got it. I won't be doing a review or anything
i'd check to make sure the antenna contacts on the extended battery cover are making a secure connection with the phone. possibly try applying a slight amount of electrical grease to each contact.
Update: I'm on my third Rezound now, and all have had the problem with my voice periodically not being heard or muffled to the person I am calling.
I'm baffled as to why I am having these issues.
A customer service rep actually advised me to activate my old Incredible on my line (and give up my unlimited 4g) until HTC has a fix for my problems. Yea right.
I wrote a long letter to Verizon, and if I don't hear back from them today I'll be contacting Corporate.
I'll try to get into another phone I suppose, but I don't like my choices: GNexus (crappy signal), Razr (crappy battery). There is the Razr Maxx, but I'm sure they wont even offer to replace me with that.
*Sigh*

Yes, I did the OTA on two of the replacement phones. I still had the problem before and after. Thanks for looking out though.
Yet another update: I talked to verizon support again about my Rezound and the issues. They offered me a Thunderbolt, Charge, Bionic, or a Revolution.
I told them that I would take no less than a Nexus or Droid Maxx at this point. He said that those phones are not on his list. The phones he offered are a big step down from the Rezound, so I declined. Not sure what to do at this point, but I did ask him to escalate this (he was a supervisor) and he put in a ticket to have it escalated.
If anyone ever has any advice regarding my situation, please feel free to chime in.
I'll post as my saga continues, even though I'm sure no one really cares
Hmmm. I'm interested. My wife says I sound muffled at times when I'm on the rezound. I never thought of it as an actual phone issue.
My experience with this is
1. Seems to be when I'm on speaker.
2. Never happens when I'm using ear piece.
3. Updated radio and it since hasn't happened but once when on speaker.
Good luck!

You could be experiencing similiar hardware issues, or possibly something to do with the noise canceling microphone. I wish you luck though since I know this muffled sound problem can be annoying, but at least i'm not alone (although i've only heard of 2 other people with similar issues).
Feb 3rd Update: Talked to Verizon yet again about my muffled sound issues. I received an email from HTC today asking me to have Verizon re-provision my account, update my prl (i was on 15098 and Verizon updated me to the same 15098), and to try a new sim card.
None of the fixes have worked. The Verizon tech called my phone as a test and within 10 seconds it started happening. I made her away of my escalation call from last night, and she said it could take a week or so for a return call since the escalation would involve a Director of something.
She credited my account $50 for my issues thus far, and is going to call me back at the end of the day as a follow-up.
*Sign* The Saga continues, but I want a plot twist where I can a working phone that I don't have to forward calls to my third line. (at least my old LG Chocolate Touch still works fine).
Really, dumb question.. are you holding the phone to far up your face. What I mean, I came from the OG droid and it was much smaller phone so when I started using the Rezound I thought the sound was way to low, people couldn't hear me ..etc.. I found I was holding the phone to high on my face so the speakers were above my ear and my microphone was almost by my upper lip. I adjusted how I held the phone and haven't had any issues since.

I have tried holding the phone in multiple different ways. I have to admit, I feel stupid having to try holding it different ways since its a...well...phone.
I've recorded my own calls to myself via google voice to test it out, and the 'muddled' issue happens via speaker, or a normal call. I have even held the phone 2 inches in front of my mouth directly and callers will still complain of not being able to hear me or understand me. I have also tested different things like putting my finger over the noise canceling microphone with no change in my problems.
Thanks for the question though. I'm convinced that i've been subjected to Gamma Radiation without my knowledge and thats why i'm having phone issues. In that case, I hope that Verizon fixes this soon with a resolution or a different phone, because they wont like me when i'm angry.
Both of mine have done this, before and after the OTA.
This is the problem when phone companies are so crazy about getting the latest and greatest out the door to beat the competition. All they care about are sales. As long as it is working 90%, just push it out the door, and by the time people are pissed off you will be selling the next phone.
These phones don't get much QC testing, that much is certain. How many of the issues over the years would have been obvious if someone actually just carried the phone around and used it for just a single day? Most of them, I wager.

Don't think this has been mentioned or not, but have you tried talking through a bluetooth? Just curious. That would rule out a mic issue if it still persists even talking through bluetooth. Then I would say you are having network issues?
Good luck

I can say that I have talked on bluetooth about 10%-15% of the time and I don't get complaints. Then again my phone sits in one spot, and maintains signal better? The reason I did not test this thoroughly is because the option of talking on bluetooth only well isnt an option.
I know that is not what you were hinting at, but I feel its a device issue and not a network, but don't quote me on that.

You are had two do this? So you know my pain!
Do you still have the phone and does it still do it?
I agree totally that these phones don't get tested enough and are sent out the door. At this point honestly, despite how much I love the phone, I'd rather have something else.
I told them I don't want another 3-4 phones sent to me. I'm really pushing for a new handset at this point, a different brand totally.
Anyway I wish you luck also. I'll keep this thread updated so that other's like myself (that are beyond the return window wherever you bought it) can hear about my trials and tribulations.
Finale: After over a dozen calls and 7+ hours on the phone with verizon, along with sending out emails to the CEO, Regional Manager, Relations, and all major executives, I received a call today from one.
To make this short, Razr Maxx is on the way, and will be here this week. Verizon Wireless could of made this easier, instead of making unrealistic guidelines for some customer issues.
When I was with Alltel I swear I would of had such an easier time with the customer service. I do not ever remember having to jump through hoops just to come to an agreement.
For any following my plight, Thanks for reading and for the helpful pms.
Good luck with your new phone.
Post back how you like it, I'm honestly curious.
I have two coworkers that have the original RAZR and absolutely hate them, but one of their main complaints is the awful battery life on a battery you can't swap out.

I'm a network admin and have a few guys at work that have a razr maxx, a nexus, and a revolution.
They usually say that the maxx has done the best for signal in and about different buildings (on server platforms with a ton of computer equipment etc). They said with generous use of the Smart Actions feature, and with generous moderate use, they get 2 days. They always seem to have a phone in their hand (they say) so im not sure what moderate use is to them (all network engineers etc). The nexus guy says his battery is gone before 5, and he often cant make calls in these random buildings. The lg revolution guy says he hates his signal and battery life, and that lg is taking forever with update and fixes.
Of course user experiences differ from person to person, so I too am curious on how the Maxx will fare with me. I'm extremely critical on my phones, and a very moderate use person (1+hours a day in calls, facebook &twitter updated every 15, emails pushed, streaming music 1-2 hours a day, games 1+hours a day, etc).
Look for a comparison here after ive had it a day or two, and will compare it to the 2+months that i've had the Rezound.
I updated the OP with my few hours of experience with my Maxx (the replacement for my 3 Rezounds).

Call quality issues with 4G LTE or bad phone

I have had several people tell me that it sounds like I am talking in a tunnel or tin can on calls I make. They claim it oly happens for a few seconds and then goes away but will repeat. Anyone else have someone tell them something similar?
Wondering if I got a defective phone. I have had no other issues and the reception on my end is always perfect even when they tell me I sound bad.

Are you calling using Sprint Airrave or anything?
No, just normal 3G service, not roaming, good signal strength.
If it's happening everywhere you go, in completely different locations on day 10, I would start looking into exchanging the phone.
EVO LTE Audio Issues
I have the phone and have the same issues at times. The person on the other end will be like "What you say" and I have to repeat myself allot
Are you sure you're not covering the mic with your hand..?

I thought that also, tried moving my hand and on a long call they will repeatedly complain about it. Also thought might be ac vent from car blowig on it creating wind noise or something. I have gone through almost every posibility I can think of.
I had searched and could not find anyone else having the problem, guess it is the phone.
i have the same issue. i had it on stock rom too i think. had the phone for over a month, wonder if sprint will exchange it. if not i guess i can take it with htc.
Do you have a case on that's possibly messing with one of the 2 mics?
i do have the case on mine. ill take it off tom and see if same thing is happening. if im past 14 days do you think htc would work with me on this issue (replacement under warranty?)
