I clicked to buy it and it acted like it downloaded something to activate the program. I used the program a little and decided to upgrade my rom. The full version didn't work anymore, so I called t-mobile to make sure I could activate it again without being charged. The rep said there was no record of me having purchased any apps through them and that I would probably have to email the developer to have it reactivated for free. There is no contact info through the app and I was never billed for it. I reactivated using the buy button again and, again, I've never been charged for the app.
Does this mean Rockband is free for everyone who has the original sd card files?

I hope the first thing you did was call your banks 24 hour customer service line.....??????
And yes if your web access password for banking is the same as your android apps change it....

Usually banking apps don't store passwords. But if you use the same pass as you do elsewhere, change them and call your bank to give them a heads up so they can monitor the account and alert you of suspicious activity.

thanks! Just called the bank and changed pw to be safe. Should I change my gmail password as well?
by the way it was almost (not really) funny to see my phone move farther and farther away from me in Latitude. That was the first thing I looked at when I realized it was missing.
Yes, change that as well as your google password is definitely stored on your phone.
And on your next phone get Lookout Mobile Security. You can track your phone, make it scream (loud noise to find it, even if its on silent) and remotely wipe the phone.

+1, and recently police in different cities across the states have used Lookout Location Services to track the theif and arrest them, returning the android phone to its rightful owner.
Thanks for all the help
Update: A good samaritan called, she found my phone and wanted to return it. So we setup up a time and place. The funny thing is when I got home my replacement phone was in the doorway! Now I have two phones!!
I then called t-moble to ask what to do next. I cant beleive what they told me, "Just keep the phone!" She had do make sure they were not monitoring the phone for activity, but after that she transfered the phone to my neice's number and gave me a free monts internet!!!
I cant beleive my luck!! And my neice is all smiles
steps I took after losing the phone
1) Checked google latitude on pc and saw my phone moving farther and farther away
2) Called t-mobile. They canceld the sim and reissued a new sim. But latitude nolonger updated the phones position.
3) Changed my google pw
4) Changed all other personal pw's
Hi, So I bought an APP (legally) and so far I have been able to download it as soon as I flash a new rom.. (from market..not using any kind of backup prog)
My question is, am I going to be able to do this forever? Or will it, at some point tell me I have downloaded this app too many times or some other BS...
I ask this because my nephew has a (hrm pod) touch and obv. itunes...and he likes to mess around with it and jailbreak it and whatnot... and from what Ive seen, if he doesnt physically backup his apps/songs etc to the pc and then restore them back (godforbid the pc gets a virus and has to be re-formatted) he can't just go back intro itunes and look up his purchase history and re-install them on to his pod...
I've been using apps obtained via web/apk downloads...you know, to try them out...but there is only a few I actually use on a daily basis and would like to purchase them legally...however, again, I don't want to buy them and then a few rom flashes later be reading a message saying I have exceeded the ammount of downloads or whatever...
Please let me know what your experience has been..thanks!
I don't think there's a limit to how many times you can download it, as long as you're using your account to download it, you should be fine. But, don't take my word for that, I haven't flashed a million times to know if eventually there's a limit, but from my experience, there isn't.
Don't worry about it. There's no limit.

I have changed roms many many times and never had a problem getting back what I paid for
Isn't cloud purchasing amazing? Buy away!
some tips.
- be aware of the google account you're syced with. (no need to worry if you only have one account)
- to access your past purchases - go into market, hit settings, hit my apps, scroll down, and if you haven't installed them already, they will be under a section called "Not installed"
- free apps that you've purchased will NOT be on this list. You will just have to search it like normal. the market does not keep track of free apps that you've downloaded for you as far as i know. the app "app brain" will if i remember correctly. I don't use it personally.
- Also, as a side note, Apple does the same thing. if you've purchased from their store, you will have access to everything you've purchased (with money, not free apps) without backing it up to any hard drive.
- this is the cloud universe and this is how it works. welcome
It looks like you can re-download as many times as you want, but you may want to root your phone and backup your apps with Titanium backup anyway.
While Google may restore your Angry Birds app, it doesn't save your scores, or the fact that you successfully completed those 30 levels.
I am sure you are tired of reading post about the battery, but I have been doing a lot of research today about removing the bloatware that Tmobile included in the phone since I took my phone off the charger late last night and found that it only had 8% charge this morning with no use. I checked the battery use screen under settings and it said that an app called More for Me was responsible for 51% of the battery use. This is an app that I have never used and never even knew what it was for until I looked it up today. This led me to look up the rest of the included apps and I have some questions about several of them before I try to remove them using the info from the Removing Bloatware thread in the HTC Amaze General section.
This is information I couldn't find from a basic search so I hope it hasn't already been mentioned other than people saying just delete them. I would like to know what I am deleting and if they could be useful before I get rid of them. I tried going into many of these apps to see what they were for on the phone, but I didn't want to accept all of the license agreements and activate them for fear that they would increase my battery use further.
HTC Hub-Just an app store? Anything special? Worth creating an HTC sense account for? I remember reading somewhere that this was a battery/memory hog. Delete?

Qik video chat-anything special? Same as Skype? Delete?
Voice search-Not sure what it is for. Is it like Vlingo? Delete?
Sorry for the long post and I haven't unlocked my bootloader for fear of losing the warranty. To get rid of these programs I will just disable them using the method in the thread listed above.
HTC Hub- Not worth using. Just another HTC app for customizing.

I have a TMO Vibrant that I want to give to my 8 year old daughter so she can play games on it. There's no SIM card, but of course she can still (accidentally) call 911. I would like to just freeze the phone app, but I want to be sure that I can safely (from the phone point of view) do so. In other words, will it break the phone if I freeze the phone app? I am also hoping it will get rid of the "No sim card installed. Emergency calls only" warnings that won't go away. Secondly, if I can freeze the phone app, what exactly is the phone app called in TB? I don't see it there. I am using MIUI 20330 on kernel 2.6.35.12, android 2.3.7

I'm not too sure about the missing SIM card alert, but freezing the dialer app is very easy too do, and shouldn't cause any problems. There are also multiple ways to accomplish the task, however, I believe the most effective way would be to "manually" freeze the app. This can be done by following these steps:
Download an app like Root Explorer, if you don't already have it or don't have the money, a free alternative is Super Manager.
Go to the root of the phone, the directory being "/".
Go into the "system" folder. (Directory: "/system")
Then go into the "app" folder. (Directory: "/system/app")
Look around until you find an app called "phone.apk".
Rename it to "phone.apk.bak". This will effectively freeze the phone app.
It might also not hurt to freeze the contacts app, various email clients (gmail & email), the messaging app (mms), and other like apps using the same method mentioned in the previous steps.
Once the apps are frozen, you can even delete the file explorer app you used so that those core system files can't be accessed by your daughter.
For further monitoring of your daughter's device, you could even try an app like APP Lock. With a little bit of in app tweaking, you can block access to phone settings and even require a password to install and uninstall apps.
Another suggestion, you may also want to look into this ROM, I have a feeling it may satisfy your needs... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1566651.
If you need any help or have a question, please, don't hesitate to ask.

Haha! For once, it's someone BEING ABLE to call 911 that's the problem. :silly:
That was really good help. Thanks. Anyone know how to make the "Emergency calls only" notification go away? There must be some app that looks for a SIM card that puts it up there. Or maybe it's baked into the kernel and it can't be disabled???
Uninstall sim tool kit or stk from titanium backup to get the notificqtion to go away

Hello there! I have been having a bit of a problem lately. I own a BLU Dash 5.0 simunlocked from factory. It's a double sim model, which I have two sims, since the companies are spanish, let's call them Green Sim and Blue Sim (since that's how they are color coded in my status bar). It is also running Android Jelly Bean 4.2. Here is the problem. Ever since of March 20, a Chinese app appeared on my home screen, I don't know how, something called "Mobile Video" but the content was in a foreign Asian language. I suspect of my friend since I lent it to him for 15 minutes and then it appeared. Aside of this, the wifi and the Green Sim 3G was turned on.
I clicked on the app curious of it was something my friend downloaded from me, but then the app prompted me two options, I didn't know what it said since again, it was Asian. Next, I proceeded to uninstall it, going to my apps list, I was surprised to see another mysterious app, "Push_Down", that was the name. I uninstalled both Mobile Video and Push_Down. I thought I fixed the problem. Wrong.
Next day when I woke up, I found two new apps on my homescreen, and again, the Wifi and Green Sim 3G was on.These were Chinese also. I uninstalled them both and found once again "Push_Down" in my apps. After I uninstalled them, I thought the problem was finally fixed. Wrong again. Since this event, about every 2 or 3 hours, my Wifi and Green Sim 3G turn on automatically, but haven't downloaded anything new, one, because I have no credit left, and two, I have no internet at home. Ever since, daily I wake up, the same problem, the Wifi and 3G are on. I checked my SD Card, I checked my Phone Storage, both with 2 Antivirus (Avast!, and Lookout Mobile) and with Addons Detector. Surprisingly, nothing has appeared.
My last option is what hurts me most, to reset my phone, which I don't want to do since I have lots of apps installed, progress made with certain games and etc, etc. Also, I am not a root user, so I haven't rooted and won't root my phone.
Now, can anyone please help me? I am very annoyed at this happening everyday!
same problem...cheinese apps keep reinstalling
I too have had this problem for a few weeks now. Got a Chinese smartphone for Christmas (ok i know thats the first mistake, but it was worth a try for the money). mfaction royale mp720 (mpie comes up on the startup screen). Anyway i realised there where a few Chinese apps that came with it (pinyin and a app with a orange icon with a squirrel logo on it) so i unistalled these without problem. One chinese app i couldn't uninstall so i disabled it in the app settings
Everything had been working fine without problem and had been very happy with the phone until a week or so ago. started getting the apps described above installing. These include 'push_down' 'push_collect' 'filegogo' 'mobile video' and some others with chinese writing on them. I also get my phone setting itself to mute when these apps reappear. Keep uninstalling them but they keep coming back. Have tried AVG and Antimalware but they only flag things up as they install themselves, not the thing thats doing the installing. I thought that google account might be a problem so changed password and reset my phone to factory default. As a test i didn't connect back to google account. No joy. Although some apps have not reappeared some have and this morning a new one so i don't think its google account.
I did read some Chinese phones can have the malware embedded into the firmware but it's been fine for months. Perhaps there is a delay so your not likely to send the phone back then the malware begins. If this is the case then the only way round would be to root the phone then find the app or apps that are doing this. Not sure if it's easy to root one of these phones.
Anyone else had these symptoms after a full factory reset?. Anyone been able to sort it out? Anyone know of a guide to root his phone?
Hmmmmm....

Actually, as much as my experience from rooting, I haven't done it once again after a bad event I had, like almost bricking an old phone I had which for my good luck there was a way to restore it Ever since, I won't root anymore unless there exists a ROM backup by the manufacturer. But still, I don't know what's causing this. My phone has been fine since stock, I have more than 2 months with it! The problem started since last Thursday, which is why I suspect it's an app I downloaded or ad I clicked on. Any ideas?
(Also, thanks for your reply )
