So I've been looking for a vibrant for my gf (she has a cliq xt), but I'm trying to figure out where to go to find one. I thought for sure we would have seen some from the kies update as most folks are to antsy to wait for things. Any ideas?

So you are hoping some innocent person soft bricked their vibrant but is too stupid to know that it can be recovered? In turn you hope they sale it on ebay thinking it is a total brick, so you can turn around and purchase it and just Odin it back to life?
wow gotta love 2011, society has really gone down the drain. Everyone trying to pull one on eachother.
What happend to the days where people say hello to strangers in grocery stores, you help out your fellow citizen, and everyone isn't out to get eachother.

What if someone has no idea how to fix their phone, they will sell it for half price of a used one instead of throwing it away? Guess it depends how you look at it. Now if they knew someone that asked them to fix it but instead low balled them that would be wrong. BTW I got mine off craigs list for 250 In working order he needed to pay off his contract. Did I screw him or did we help each other out

Lol. Deep breath bud. First to be completely honest I would ask if they know how to fix it (look at some of my other posts here and you should see I am not out there to tape and pillage a great deal. If someone had already bought a new phone and is trying to make a dollar on a phone then yeah I'm going to try to buy it.
Didn't really think something so simple as asking where a spot to buy a phone would turn into a panty ruffle spot. Thanks for the what's and craigslist options I really forget about craigs.

Hello.
My bootloader is apparently corrupted after an Odin restore attempt and from what I've read Riff Box is my only salvation. I tried the button combos, the 301K JIG and my phone is as bricked as a... Well, brick.
Are there any alternatives to riff box? Anything I can cook up on my own to make a dead Vibrant revive?
Thanks!
Try sending it back to TMO or Samsung if you can with your warranty.
If you can't...
hmm.. no.. a JIG wouldn't work...
nope sorry dunno any.
Riff box is the only way. I want to have one too so that I won't have to worry about hard bricking my phone.

I think you can order it. it would be good if someone would order one then we can just send it to him if we are hard bricked. Of course we'll pay him.

How much would it cost? if it was a reasonable price, i'd buy it, if its too expensive, i can't.
I think it's $150.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
YEAH.. i'm not buying it, i don't brick my phone every hour lol.
lol, riff box will handy foe me because I'll be using vibrant for a very long time.
Well...
From what I've read and my experience, hard bricks are pretty rare. This happened because I tried to do too many things one after the other without enough care, and the guy who owns one in my country is doing the fix for about US$30. In their webpage you can see a list of Riff Box owners all around the world, look out for someone close to you.
I have a RIFF Box being built and sent to me as we speak, but my only problem is I have no test phones to practice on yet. My dedicated JTAG computer sits right next to my JIG manufacturing equipment just waiting for the day I have all the hardware needed. Here's to hoping I can officially offer this service soon. My fingers are crossed....
P.S. Im located in NM, pretty darn close to the center of the USA, so maybe an ideal location for shipping out via USPS Priority?
I was in the same situation. Your only option is a RIFF Box JTAG.
I send my phone to this ebay seller and he repair my phone the same day and the same day he ship me back my phone.

If the item expired on ebay you can find the seller items in here:

or search for the sellers name ( olegor215 )

re: your signature. "Did you know every time you make a troll comment an android phone is activated?"
Awwwww muffin, try flashing it with gasoline and a match. Or crumble the T959D board into tiny little pieces after spending 12hrs with QPST (and ODIN trying to start connection then hanging). I finally lost my temper due to multiple stressors.
(oh and bollocks to grammar) Some were due to the dang buttons can't be found and farting about with a couple of screwdriver tips to hold down one button while at the same time reinserting the battery and holding power with a pen. Oh and I didn't have the back on the phone (no screws) so the mobo periodically flips off its base. Anywho, the phone had to die it has plagued me since last summer. I won't do the same with the SGH-I727R I have. And ironically the screen assembly I can resell. Ironically the mobo is worth next to nothing compared to the price of the screen assembly. Which is one reason I finally decided to have the satisfaction of tearing the skin from my fingers while twisting and snapping the board into 4 pieces which I shall bury at four corners of the city I live in lest its corpse finds its way back to me and bricks my other devices.
Oh and in case you are wondering. Yes!!! it was so satisfying and totally worth the total loss. (actually I need one button switch and the USB port for other damaged devices I am repairing.
I am going to get me a jtag if it's the last thing I do. Or make my own from an ATMEGA and whatever breakouts I need for it to work.
Just realize JTAG is hard. Real hard. As far as micro soldering and understanding circuits and crap like that. Watch a few videos before you thing of getting into it just so you can see how complicated the process is. It seems real sketchy for me.

Any HELP WOULD be greatly appreciate!!!!
4 days ago me and my wife bought notes. I recently discovered today that some spots on my phone do not work with the s pen. So i decided i need to take it back and exchange for a new one. But right before taking the phone back my phone was dropped and received hardly noticeable dents/scratches on the phones side on the metal. You have to be shown most likely before you even realize it has dents/scratches.
Will i still be able to return it or hope they just dont notice it?
Thanks for your feedback!!

Was the purchase made at a corporate or dealer store, or ordered online? It'll be inspected at a corporate store, probably not inspected at a dealer store, and if it was an online purchase, the warranty department will try to get you to put a hold on a credit card till yours is shipped back because they seem to try hard as hell to not do their job. At all. You might be able to appeal to the manager of that store to let you swap it. Can you post pics of the "damage"?
Thanx for the quick response and to answer ur question. Yes it was at corporate store. But i don't want to return it just want to exchange it.

Yeah, I got that much. It shouldn't be a problem if the damage isn't too noticeable, but it's iffy. There's a certain amount of discretion given to managers so you may luck out. Please post pics when you can...I'll try my best to give you an honest evaluation of your chances.
Actually hold on a sec ill get some

Safest way to do this is.......exchange for different color.dont tell them about defect it had.then they will blame on u. because u droped it.
Let's wait for the pics before we make any call like that. I say that as a current AT&T RSC and former third-party sales rep.
best bet is do the return over the phone if possible. call them and they will send you a device, on reciept of the new phone you will mail the defective one back. i have had the same problem as you with dropping a phone right before exchanging it and it worked out ok. good luck!

Not exactly the best way. If the damage is too extensive, or a grumpy person inspects the phone when they receive it, his account will be charge for the full price of a phone, and there's not much you can do about it without a lot of hassle.
The best thing for him to do is post pics on here of the damage, because we have many AT&T employees on here who could probably make a fair assessment of the damage based on AT&T's stipulations, as I'm sure they've had to deal with returns like this before.
That being said, to the OP: you should be fine unless the case is deformed or there is a huge scratch through the paint. I once returned my old Captivate due to a faulty external speaker, and i had scraped the paint off of the front speaker grill so it was silver, and I had a gouge on one of the corners that was still noticeable but I had smoothed out with a little very fine grained sandpaper followed by steel wool. Sanding it out will probably not work for you on the chrome-ish border of the Note however.

Could you maybe get one without a light reflection directly on the damage? It's a little hard to tell how bad that is. Your best bet either way is probably to go into an AT&T store, and see what they think about getting it replaced. If you have a device service center in your area, they can do an exchange on the spot for some devices, depending if they have it in stock.
The Note's too new. DSCs won't have any in stock and the only reasonable alternative is to exchange it in store.
As was said, if you can get a few more pics that don't focus directly on the damage, it might give us a better idea of what we're looking at.
This same thing happened to my phone and I never even dropped it. Right in the same exact corner. I pull it out of my pocket one day and bam the silver paint is gone.
Will i got it resolved!!!! THANKS FOR ALL THE THOUGHT OUT ANSWERS AND HELP.

I contacted HTC by email first. Then they gave me a number for their repair center in the states. At first they were like we cant send you a replacement because im in Canada and they told me to contact my carrier(ROGERS), but then I told them my carrier told me to call you guys. They then authorized sending me a sprint back cover for the American version but they warned me it might not fit. Then they asked me if i wanted white or black.
What's the phone number? Will you pm it to me? My bezel is all bent up and its been bugging me since I got the phone!

Also as a side note you only get one free repair-esque thing like this. So basically your using up your one on getting a new battery cover, however I have the coverage at best buy so i dont need the manufacters warrantee

lol what BS did you feed them? might have to take advantage
Its coming form the states and im in Canada so it might take a while I will still post up pictures when its here. And its not really a waste we only have one warranty for the backcover and all the other parts are still warranted if i have any problems. so as long as i don't have any other battery cover issues it will be fine. Plus the white ones are more expensive i could get a black on ebay for like $5 but a white is around 30-40.

Don't tell them your serial number, just the first number they ask for.
Then just tell them the glue on the ring around the camera failed and that you need a new battery cover. After some info gathering they ask you what color the phone is and just tell them white.... or possibly even tell them purple if you really want that. I made sure to keep saying the ring around the camera was silver, not red, but that probably wont matter as the guy I was talking to seemed clueless about this phone.
edit: not sure if its the serial number I didn't tell them. I just know they asked me for 2 numbers and I told him the first and that my phone didnt have the second one they asked for
Got mine in the mail today, pics up soon!
Just a bump mine came in the mail today and I uploaded some pic's. imo it looks great. It looks terrible with a case so I am not sure what I want to do now. I hate to leave my phone without protection.
Just ordered mine. Guy was very friendly on the phone. Should ship in 2-3 business days and arrive in 5-6. My phone only had a month left on warranty so I'm glad I called and used it.

I bet they are gonna be surprised when a bunch of people start calling in saying the same thing hahaha
I had that same thought earlier, that's why I'm glad I called when I did. Told him my fiancee dropped her phone and the battery door cracked at the bottom so it won't stay latched. Worked like a charm.
Before anyone flames me for blaming her, the door is for her.

You can find the replacement on ebay, price isnt to bad either. This video shows an opened one, and in the description he explains how he opened the phone without destroying it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xTkedw4_27k
It will probably be a little difficult so take your time and don't try to force anything. Also take pictures or video so others can see how it went. Good luck to you buddy, i hope you are able to get your phone working again. Such a great phone, i would hate to see you lose it!
I think etrade supply sells it as well, a quick google search should help.

Good luck man. According to AndroidCentral, iFixit gave the HTC One a 1 out of 10 score for repairability making it one of the most difficult phones to repair. Everyone should make sure to buy insurance.
