GPS In Optimus One

guys, i can't let the gps using satellite in my optimus one to work...
always says "Waiting for location" .... like using the carhome or the navigation bundled applications pre-installed...
any fix please?
You have to wait for a lock. That's normal.
Also, Try waiting for a lock outdoors. GPS signals aren't as strong as the ones used in SMS and stuff.
@ kp
ive tried waiting for quite a long time but nothing happened...tried also outdoor but the same...
ive tried using GPS Test application to located GPS Satellites, and indeed it can locate some with low to average signals...but when i am going to use the pre-installed applications for tracking my location, it still can't.
ive searched the net and someone also is having the same problem using LG Optimus One as well.... >.<
Depending on your firmware this might be a bug. There were GPS problemes reported with certain firmwares. But you have to be patient too, because sometimes it takes a while until 2 or more satellites are found and locked.
You can try using free app like "Ulysse Gizmos" on monitoring gps, especially on lockon status.
& also try this tips to access the internal gps test menu @ link: goo.gl/ZFs6D
Our LG Optimus One P500 code is 3845#*500#
Do let us know how it goes.
Good luck!
I use the P500 whitout a data connection. So does have a sense set the gps in A-GPS or if i have the data not active i have to set it in a GPS Standalone?
restart phone and try again
are u using da stock rom?
@Hesediel
If you don't have data conection you cann't receive any maps, but it's no problem to use a-GPS. But without data you will simply have the geo-data, no maps. So that seems to make no sense.

Yes but i would like to buy an offline navigator like sygic, copilot, ndrive, something like that not the google maps/navigatopr for now, so it's better i use gps as standalone or is the same setting it as a-gps ms based?
it's a known problem.
I've got a p500 without data connection (I'm using wi-fi only).
The first week after flashing my phone the gps works fine.
Then afer a week the gps fix begins to be sloooow.
After a month it is very slow.
So I have to do an hard reset to turn the gps works well again.
Any utility (like gps status) that try to reset the gsp... fail.
The only known solution... is a ... sadly... hard reset.
I hope the someone will be able to write an application to do the same thing like the gps hard reset.
Use fasterfix, you can find this in android market.just search for "fasterfix"
Requires root, busybox and data connection during the initial GPS lock time.
Your gps will get a fix within seconds.

Well, i have the same problem and used the same solution. But now I just wait. Sometimes I "cold start" gps with GPS Status or even the "hidden" gps test menu and after waiting a little or a lot (30s or 10min) I get GPS fix. Anyway, restarting the phone seems to work well too.

CM7 GPS Issues

Hello again. Recently I created a topic dealing with low call volume in CM7 and fortunately that has been fixed with the help of pcpark(numbers?) and myself. Unfortunately, I cannot for the life of me get the GPS to work. It was working in previous build but the latest July 4th build does not seem to want to lock. I am using the official ED04 modem because of the missed calls issues due to EC09 and I previously used ED01 but without result. Google Maps puts me relatively close to my home address and with Wifi it's pretty much exact but the GPS symbol never stops flashing, indicating that it's still locking. Navigation is completely broken, as it says at the bottom "Searching for GPS" but most of the time it never locks or if I get lucky it will lock for the duration that I'm using it but when I try to open it again, it won't lock. GPS Status displays that my phone's GPS is working correctly but it too has the flashing, not locked icon. Is there anyone who has been having similar issues or does anyone know of a fix? This ROM is so close to perfection and GPS is hardly a huge issue but it irritates me because it worked previously.
Try downloading GPS Aids and GPS Tests to see how many satellites you see and how many you lock on. I couldnt get a lock after 30 seconds on my fascinate ran aids and literally went from seeing 5 to 11 and from locking to 1 to 9 in under two seconds
Holy crap it worked!! Thanks a lot
Np, glad it helped.
Thread started by neh4pres might provide some additional tips:

I remember reading something about using GPS Status to "wake up" the GPS and I have always used it but I did not know you could reset the GPS. Thanks for the help!

Same old GPS problems

Hello,
This is nothing new - this device has GPS problems with custom firmwares. However, I wanted to share my experience and thoughts and clarify a thing or two. Tried different ROMs, radios etc. with no success to get stable GPS for daily use with latest ROMs. So I discovered that GPS on older ROMs works differently than on newer ones. For example:
On CM 7.2 - GPS Status&Toolbox gets green even with one sattelite (fix/sat - 1/1) - it can get fix to 10+ sattelites but will never get a lock no matter how much time I'm waiting on it.
On CM 6.1, B 0.8.4, and probably stock - GPS Status&Toolbox firstly discovers sattelites (yellow), it needs at least 4 or more sattelites (yellow) to get a fix. Once it gets a fix (for example 4/4) it changes to green color and gets immediate lock. This is also how it works on my Hero and usually is pretty fast.
So could this be a GPS driver/software problem in the ROM and why can't we get it to work on CM 7.2 the same way it's on 6.1?
I really want to be able to use newer, beautiful custom ROM like HomICS, AOPK, but since there is GPS problems on them I'm stuck on 6.1 or stock.
Cm 7.2 is one of the few roms were GPS actually works properly for me, I've written much about my GPS experiances in quite a few threads and some of my own threads, have a look around, they might be worth a read.

Yes, I did read some threads even yours and tried practically everything mentioned there but without any luck. I've got a few locks with CM 7.2 but it was couple of times when I first flashed it (mobile network was active (3g), however, I dont use it, ever) and the next day it would fix to 10/10 or more but without any lock.
Even today I got practically immediate locks with 6.1. in 10 to 20 seconds. Frustrating that this is not working the same way on 7.2.
How about you, in GPS Status&Toolbox, is your device fixing to satellites one by one (becoming green) without getting a lock? Or it needs couple of yellows before it gets a fix?

I have found that GPS status and toolbox doesn't fully work with the legend, mainly using the clear GPS data and for downloading a-gps data. I used quite a few different apps and basically pulled my hair out through shear frustration till I found something that seamed to actually work.
I use GPS test by Mike Lockwood from the market, this seams to work for clearing GPS data and download a-gps, but generally don't use it as my primary GPS app,I use AndroiTS GPS test free from Alessandro Bonetti also from the market, but for some reason is very hard to search for.
Personalty on my device these apps are the only 2 that give me constantly good results were all the other GPS apps I've tried didn't.

Yes, I did read your thread and tried these apps too. With AndroiTS I was getting elev azim data but no success in getting it to lock.
What about your lock time in daily use, seconds/minutes/ tens of minutes?
I use cm 7.2 (latest nightly) out in the open my lock time can be any where between a few seconds (maybe like 10 seconds) and a few minutes (2-3).

To make things a bit more complicated, after using GPS once, I have to restart the phone. Otherwise, it will not lock again. The first time it will lock in under 1 minute.

gps problem

hi, I have a sgs2, rooted, with Omega rom v.24, the problem is that the GPS location on my pictures is usually a few meters/kilometers away from the place the pictures was actually taken, also the gps based alarm does not work, but maybe that is another topic..
GPS navigation programs work fine (navigon and garmin), the problem is the photo tagging.
I've tried a guide that describes this exact problem and attributes it to disabled Static Navigation. the suggestion is using GPS Control SiRF StarIV, but the app does not recognise my gps hardware, so it is useless. (can't post a link to the article dues to some really stupid limitations when you're under 10 posts...).
Any ideas? Am i the only person to have this problem?
i repeat: my gps is working fine and I have a reasonable locking time, the problem is the photo gps tagging (I'm sure the "geo tagging" option in the camera options is on).
thanks
Try FasterGPS App, it's free.

Hi, thanks, but i think this app won't do it, as I said in my post, my problem is not the speed for the gps fix, the problem is that that the process of taking a picture, obviosly does not trigger a gps signal and it gets the data from the last recorded position, which, off course, is a previous location.

[Q] Gps losing signal after an hour of good working

Hello, I'm basically new to this forum, but I used it a lot for many questions that I wondered. I have a strange issue with gps on my Jiayu G3T 6589t mobile phone. I start gps navigation app, little wait, get signal, and it is working really good, but after an hour of using, gps start to loose signal every 2 minutes, and get it back repeatadly. All what helps is that I go out from navigation app, turn off gps, open aplication and start gps. Does anybody knows what may be the cause, and how to fix it. I already have epo file and full agps. I used copilot, here beta, and sygic, and always the same..
