[Q] Safe Mode - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I had a weird experiance last night. I plugged the phone in to charge (On VZW charger). Woke up in the am and it was in Safe Mode. It has happeded before when I *228, but not since. I looked online, but what is safe mode and how does that happen? I rebooted and all was fine.
Running SC2.8v

Ive never had safe mode as an option, although I know that it is possibly with a vibrant.

Basically, it's like windows in safe mode. It reverts everything on my homescreens like i just loaded sc. I have searched high and low and no one can explain why?

[Q] USB borked, somehow.

I flashed bionix 1.3 onto my bell vibrant, and everything seemed okay except for two (Big) things... One of which I've seen other people having troubles with, the other seems completely unique to me.
A) I have no 3g connection at all to any data whatsoever
B, and this is the one I'm completely pissed off about) I have no USB connection available to me. Whenever I plug in my phone to any usb, be it my laptop or even the wall charger... It shuts down and goes into a sort of sleep mode where it flashes between an empty gray battery and the "busy, loading" ring... Over and over. I can't turn it back on until I unplug it. So I can't flash the stock back onto it with odin because it doesn't connect to odin for more than 4 seconds before going into sleepytime mode. This happens when it's on, when it's in recovery mode, or download mode. ANY time I plug anything into the usb.
Any ideas?
I also forgot to mention that my internal SD card isn`t being recognized by clockwork, so I don`t quite have the option to flash bionix again because I get the /data/ can't be mounted error...
I and my friend who has a non Bionix (stock) JI6 build are having this same issue. Really irrititating and no flashing ROMS have fixed this. I was able to ODIN back to JFD stock, but no fix. Basically I have to plug it in to be able to power it on, and it always reports USB as being connected even if it's just a power cable. I used to be able to transfer data just fine, I have all the drivers, etc. Phone turned off in the middle of the night and then started happening. Can't think of any specific change other then apps that might have caused this, but then again my buddy is having similar issues with non Bionix ROMs. Still have not seen any resolution to this. Hoping it comes soon, or analysis of if it's software or hardware.

[Q] [Solved] failed Kies flash, unchargeable flat battery

Hi, It's only been a day since I got my new i9100 and I've already managed to stuff it up and get out of my depth. I'd be grateful for any help or advice. I've done many searches and not found anyone with a similar problem.
Basically my problem is that my phone has corrupted firmware and whenever I connect the phone to power it goes into the mode with the little symbols showing a phone connected to a computer (I'll call that emergency mode). I know I can recover it from that mode with Kies, Odin, or Heimdall, but unfortunately it turns off whenever I disconnect it from power (apparently both my computers' USB power isn't enough to keep it on). I've left it connected to power overnight to charge (in emergency mode) but the same thing happens. I don't know of a way of connecting power without it entering emergency mode, in case that might help the battery to charge (assuming that's the problem). I am fairly sure the battery is flat, because if I put the contacts on my tongue I do not feel any tingling sensation as I usually do with a charged battery.
At this point my only idea is to splice 2 USB cables so that I can use mains power and connect it to a computer at the same time. I'd obviously prefer not to resort to that. Any Ideas?
What I did before, details:
I have an unbranded version of the i9100 sold by mobicity in Australia, no network locks or anything. First thing I did was to install Samsung Kies on my computer and check for firmware updates (It was originally running Android 2.3.3, I don't remember the build numbers). Kies told me that an update was available, so I told it do do its thing.
On the first attempt the phone rebooted into download mode and then Kies stopped responding at 0% and eventually said the update had failed. I eventually pulled the battery and when I put it back in the phone booted back into its stock firmware - no damage, but no update.
On the second attempt it booted into download mode got to 8% and stayed there for about half an hour. At this point I had to leave it, and when I got back the bar was on 12% and it said it had failed. After power cycling it was in emergency mode, which is as far as I got.
My previous phone is a Blade and I've flashed it to oblivion and recovered from all sorts of problems, but I've never had one like this before. Apologies if this information is already somewhere else, I did make an effort to find it.
What was your battery percentage before the flash, a full update usually takes about 5 to 6 minutes, if your battery is too low, it may not go through. Also you should get rid of Kies or at least make sure it is not running at all while you are using Odin, Odin should show a yellow block once it has detected your device in download mode, but Kies running at the same time can cause issues
Also, you should try to charge that battery if you are of the opinion that it is running low on juice, I don't have the expertise, but a simple test is to charge the device while it is powered off as I do not think the phone charges in Download mode, once it is charging, you should see a large battery icon with some dots above it that indicates it is charging, if you don't see that, it probably isn't charging, maybe because the firmware flash failed, I really don't have the expertise to say for sure, if the battery isn't charging, then you should buy an external charger, unless you believe yourself competent enough to do it by splicing wires.....
Also, you should read this thread HERE there is guide on flashing official firmwares among other things, have a read, charge your battery and all should be well
This thread HERE may also help
There was plenty to do the flash (about 50%). I managed to solve the problem by borrowing a charged battery from my rather amused friend who also has an s2 and following the instructions in that thread for recovering from a soft-brick (My battery was indeed flat). I guess now I won't have any illusions that using Kies is safer than anything else...
Thanks for your advice anyway.

[Q] Phone won't boot, can't enter download or recovery

A few days ago my phone got soaked through my pants as I was working in the rain. I came home, dried it out, etc. and tried to turn it on. Wouldn't turn on, so I started charging it. I eventually got it to turn on and it seemed to be working fine except for some reason it said the battery life was at 0 %. Note that it was still working normally otherwise.
I went into recovery, made a backup, and did a factory reset to see if that would fix the problem. It didn't, so I restored the backup. Now the phone won't turn on at all.
When plugged in, it shows the charging battery symbol, and if you hold power to turn the phone on it will sometimes begin to start, but it gets to the boot animation and simply stays there forever (I've left it at the boot animation for several hours to no effect). If I try to boot into recovery it simply does not work; it will either just restart the battery charging animation or boot normally (and then get stuck on the boot animation).
In a last ditch effort, I was going to try to flash a stock ROM from Heimdall. However, I plugged my phone in and tried to enter download mode and was greeted with the error: "LOW BATTERY!! CAN'T DOWNLOAD!!." This was after charging the phone all night. I then proceeded to charge the phone for another hour then try again, to the same error. And now here I am. It seems the problem is that my phone will charge, and the battery will be full but for some reason the phone doesn't recognize that the battery has a charge, so it just thinks it's at 0%. I've tried a different battery and was unsuccessful. Is there any way that I can either force my phone to enter download mode or somehow get it to recognize the charge on the battery? Or is there some other way I could resolve this? Or is my phone simply gone for good?
I am (was) running a rooted I777 with Slim Bean ROM ( I believe v8) 4.2.
Have you tried using a JIG it can be an option
If a JIG doesn't work you can try removing the battery, then plug the phone to the PC and go to download.
But for me the problem is with the battery. If after flashing the ROM you get the same results, don't think it and BUY A NEW BATTERY.
Good luck.

If I'm bad at English is because I'm from Argentina and I'm learning.
I has the same problema, I spend two days searching on the web, but i didnt have any idea.., ,y problem is. when we conect to ANY charger (car/wall/PC-USB..) appears on screen a batery logo, but the batery never charged..., I tried to enter to the CW but, the keys combination doesnt make anything on the phone, and without live on it, I cant access to CW..., I wait for 2 hrs, with these cell phone conected to charger to see if the it gone works...
ANYONE has another idea for how we resolve these issue? My phone has a stable version of CyanogenMod..
same with me but what i did was put a different battery in, let it charge for a bit then put the original one in and it only started charging after i used my car charger as i was driving to work so thats how i fixed mine.

Phone heating up / battery draining while OFF

So I've run into an bizarre problem today, one that I've never seen before.
My mum's S2 was having problems charging last night with the screen not showing the charge animation. So we decided to charge my S2's battery in my phone, then put it into her phone. It worked, but the battery was draining really quickly. I turned off the phone, decided to charge her battery in MY phone. Then I put her original battery back into her phone. But even though I haven't turned the phone on, it starts heating up within minutes! So anyway, I've tried plugging her phone into the charger again, but it seems like something is taking up the battery to quickly to charge it - even while the phone is completely off! I've even checked the processes running when the phone was on, but there seems to be nothing there causing the drain.
So anyway the next thing I'm going to try is a factory reset (this is currently running on the stock ROM), and then attempting the flash another ROM to see if that will work.
Also another thing to note - while i was backing up her phone, I had it plugged in to my computer and after leaving it for a bit to do some other stuff, I hear this high pitched beep coming from the phone saying something like "Battery temperature too high. Charging stopped." Really really strange.
Anyway, if anyone has run into this problem before or has any other ideas, it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Stuck in safe mode on my Z3TC

Hi,
I've had my Z3TC for around 5 years now and still love it but has been having a few issues recently, notably the battery life is getting worse, but it's still usable. However, yesterday, something strange happened to it. The power on/off button stopped working when I pressed it once (double press for camera still worked), so I couldn't turn it off or turn the screen off (other than my closing the case cover) and one of the volume buttons didn't work either.
Then, the battery dropped from around 40% to 0% and it shut down. I charged it overnight and this morning when I turned it on, all the buttons were working again but it was in safe mode. I tuned it off/on multiple times, restarted it, rebooted in safe mode then rebooted again hoping it would go to normal mode, but none of this work.
I've now done a full factory reset and it is still stuck in safe mode (and I've restarted it, turned on/off multiple times). Are there any suggestions for how I can get it back to normal?
Thanks,
Frank
Nearly the same thing happened to me. It happened about 3 years ago. The power button stopped working (just like you), so I chucked my Z3TC. To this day, it was - and is still one of the best - phones I ever had. I ALWAYS got asked questions about it. I own an iPhone now, but I still love the Z3TC. The camera was terrible, but everything else about the screen was solid. Just wished they updated the OS on it, but due to Google and the chip restrictions, never got far. Either way, I'll never forget this phone. Pity our time came to an end due to that power button breaking.
Also stuck
Same thing also happened to me.
I had the tablet for quite some time and the battery would start going straight to 0% from quite a high number. And also my volume down button doesn't work and I am stuck in safe mode. Rebooting, poweroff, etc doesn't make it get out of safe mode.
