[Q] Battery Covers/Back doors ... - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone!
I am a new member of this lovely community. I just got my first Samsung Vibrant I and I have to admit: I love the hardware and the software
One of the things I have been looking into is getting an alternative back cover... I do not like cases in general, nor screen protectors- I keep my phone in an Oakley Eyewear bag or protection (and cleaning).
One of the things I would like from an new backcover, apart from being more funky, is extra grip, so materials like rubber or leather or cork would be preferable...
Does anybody have any experience with this croc leather cover from Korea (apparently NOT a sticker... the real thing) ?

Idk the answer but you might get more answers if u posted this in the accessories section

Will do

Looks good
Will there one of those funky skins soon too?
The way it holds the Device looks very good.
But you have made the same mistake as proporta with the magnetic strap You put it on the back so it acts like a really annoying claw on top of the device. When you take a call it really gets annoying as it first tries to cover the speaker when you put it to your head. Then after you have moved it out of the way it rubs on your head getting even more annoying.
IMO it would be better to have the strap on the front panel so it then fixes on the back (just like original XDAII case). This gives a lot cleaner look on the front and stops the annoying claw effect.

Hello sparkyxda,
a JAVOSkin (with strap) is coming in the near future, but unfortunately we do not have an ETA at this time. So please stay tuned!

I really like the four bracket design but the magnetic closure is a pain - I'm never confident about leaving one of these near my wallet!
Does anyone have any pics of the device in the actual case?? Javoedge you know that alone would help people make up their minds.
also can you slide the keyboard out with this case?? include pics of that also
Hello everyone,
Thank you for your inquiries.
I believe the review of this case linked below will answer most of your questions.

Please do let me know otherwise.
Thank you!

I am afraid the keyboard cannot slide out while inside the case.
I apologize.
since you are asking our advice maybe you could give us a discount?? then it might get around the board a bit more
As well as looking smart, for my money a case must protect your device. It would appear from the pickies that the top left and right corners aren't protected (certainly not with any wrap around from the case). My XDA2 was seriously damaged after I dropped it - it inevitably landed on the top left corner and the on/off switch would no longer function (case cracked too). The aluminium case looks as if it would do the job (sorry to report that I bought a Proporta ally case - but only for the protection offerred - not for its looks). Fuctionality is also better with the ally case - I can use my phone and any other button assigned programmes without having to open the case. I would still much prefer a leather case if it offerred protection.

really, this is pretty much like a "small group survey" ... in marketing jargon
Not good case. protectionand accessibility. This case have 80% protection and 0% accessibility. I need to open front cover to access the buttons and make a call. Who need a credit card slots in PDA case? I think so far most successful case is Brando. If you would make the same idea but with transparent front, your case will beat up every other models, because is no any really good one on market today.

Alluminium Case

Hi guys,
I was thinking of buying this case for my phone and wanted to know if anybody already got it.

I've heard some people had problems with signal strength and GPS with similar Cases on The Diamond.
Or would you recommend to get a plastic one like: link
or silico one like: link
or the Shield Protector for the hole device?
Thanks in advance for your replys!
Hello. I'm a great fan of these cases. I have it now on the topaz and had on a p3300. No problem for signals.
Watch out that the model you are looking has no plastic to protect the screen.
Also I would buy it from ebay...
Well i went for the plastic one as it only costed 3,50euros and i can say it is quite good.
Just also a quick heads up, the silicon cases also increase friction soo if u put it into ur pockets, its hard to take it out

Protective case for the HTC Hero

What cases are you chaps investing in to protect your Heros?
Have not seen any yet. Not sure if I should get one or not I did not get one for the Diamond and that is in great nick
New mobiles make me nervous...........
If you have the white... with Teflon coating and a good screen protector I would imagine that a case isn't necessary.
You haven't witnessed my ability to juggle mobiles and drop things out of pockets onto concrete
Also, when locking onto GPS signals, putting phones on window ledges and watching in horror as they drop 30 foot to paving slabs.....oh yes.....
Been there....done that!

i will be keeping a firm grip on my hero....
my old diamond was always trying to jump out of my hand
Mine will reside in my pocket, next to my homekeys, some coins and lint.
I like to put mine in a belt case while at work as I'm always running about. Apart from that a good screen protector normally does the trick
Soon available at www.noreve.com (high quality cases)
I'v tried all the high street stores, and nothing, 99% of mobile shops don't even know what the HTC hero is and 95% of them only sell iPhone crap and nothing else, the worlds getting taken over by sheeps with iPhones
Original HTC Pouch
I bought this:
https://www.expansys.at/d.aspx?i=184424
...and unfortunately, it's crap. My white Hero has now some black parts and looks already old.
So, don't buy this if you have a white Hero. No problem whit a black one, I guess

I got this for free (http://www.handtec.co.uk) and so far no smudges. I tried rubbing some white plastic (NOT my Hero) on the inner leather lining, and with considerable effort I can rub off some black colour. After cleaning the white plastic piece it was bright white again, maybe you want to give it a try.
The case is a bit tight, though. On the other side, the phone can't fall out even if the magnetic latch opens accidentally ;-)
Overall, I'd give it 7/10 (good but not great).
Foof case for my Hero
At the moment I'm using a Foof case with a sherpa fleece inner. Its surprisingly protective and fits perfectly. Snug enough not to slip out but easy to remove. Got the ipod touch size from http://foofshop.com/ and they have great choices for different colours.
I've got this pouch:
http://www.krusellcases.com/uk/p_krusell_product.aspx?i=179446
Just what I wanted so far, it protects the phone and is rather slim. I didn't want more bulk in my pants pocket. The Hero fits quite ok, maybe it's a wee bit too wide, but not much.
Edit:
I'm gonna return the Pouch to the shop. The inner part (as well as the exterior) is made of a leather-like matherial in black color. The first days it was ok, but it has started to leave black stains on my white Hero. I was able to remove them really easily but I'm not happy anymore. I'll go check if its a defect in my pouch or all these models leave stains. I don't recommend it anymore.

Why would you post this here, rather than the thread about batteries?
I do not have a Hero yet, but I do plan on getting on when it is released in the US. Anyway...
Have you guys ever heard of SwitchEasy? They make cases for the iPhone and they are my favorite case maker, and I was planning to get a case from them as I was originally planning to buy an iPhone about a year ago. However, I did buy one for my girlfriend about a week ago and she LOVES it. I waited on buying that iPhone and out came the Hero.
I recently sent them an email to see if they would ever consider ever making a phone case for the Hero. Unfortunately, that was about 2 days ago and have not had a reply...
Perhaps if we can get enough people to send them emails so that they can realize how many people have Heros (and provided you like their cases ) we can get them to manufacture some cases and add a bit more selection to the slim pickings so far.
I am not trying to promote their products or site in any way, but if you like the style of their cases like I do, I would definitely like to see a case from them for the Hero. Was just wondering if we can do a group effort here.

I'm using the HTC belt holster that I got for my Diamond. It's a nice tight secure fit. The Diamond used to wobble around in it.

looking for the best case

hey guys and dolls, I am on a hunt to find the best case possible. I have a few very important features that must be met, they are:
Protection (obviously, lol)
must be sleek
not to bulky (don't wanna carry a brick in my pocket)
function (heard some cases cover the proximity sensor)
also would like the option of a kickstand (not gonna make or break a buy however).
I have read what several sites claim to be the "best on the market", however I find it really helps to get the input of actual users and not just the company selling the product (who obviously wants all the cash they can squeeze from you).
TIA
there is something called "bodyglove" it has a kickstand too i think. never tested it because its not available in european stores. so i never tested but it looked more than good to me in quality.
additional search for silicon cases - yes they really exist and you can still move your keyboard and its while keyboard is moved out still fully enclosured.
these silicon cases way better most time than these plastic (crystal) whatever cases out of ebay or such (i bought a lot).
the notches break after three times of removing the casecover (for pressing reset button). also its making nasty scratches on your chrome surface when a bit dirt is in between the phone and the case.
so pay for a good leather case (and thats not very handy most the time) or use a sleek silicon case (u never have to think about removing it out of a case for fully using your rhodium) it feels a lot better in hand and stays in place when you put it down on your desk in oyur car or whatever.
thanks buddy. I will for sure look into the silicon cases. my brother actually has the bodyglove for his Hero, but he does nothing but complain about it, lol.
sadly in the US we don't (or at least Sprint don't) get the beautiful Chrome back for the Rhodium. I have the "Millenium Falcon" battery cover. Though I would love to case mod my Rhodium to make it look sleek and slicker.
Thanks again for the words of advice.

Foldback / Stand case for my 8.4?

Hello all
Am sure this is probably one of the number one questions, so sorry to post it one more time, but am looking for a case for my 8.4 an was looking for some suggestions.
Want something that obviously covers the screen, but can fold back 100% so I can lay it flat on the desk.
But would really want for it to fold as a stand too.
Hopefully can be tough as I work in some harsh environments, as well an in part due to this too, don't need it to fancy, an might think leather would be out, but would be easy to clean an not absorbent such as a cloth like material.
Oh, an am not looking for a key board, as well am hoping to keep the price down.
So as can be seen, is kinda why I posted as while I find some of the above, I don't find all of it, but I get too that I have to get what's out there, but just hoping I might benefit from others who have come before me to find as close to what all my needs are.
Thanks for any help.
