I have bought a replacement screen and digitizer from eBay but
Don't seem to be able to remove the old one. I can see from looking at
The new screen it is held by 4 screws in the corners but don't want to chance
Breaking the LCD or something. Any guide or video would be appreciated.
Many thanks
Kieron

Search FFS.
Just sit and wait until the bootloader is cracked or they find a way around it. Nobody knows how far they are.

Didn't want to have a go at you but since I've seen people get slaughtered on these forums when they don't really deserve it I think its only fair.
This thread deserves slaughtering! "They" do know how far they are, but so do I - I know they still haven't cracked it.
So how can they give you a timeline? If they could then they would have cracked it. They aren't waiting for a progress bar to reach 100%, they are actually trying to hack into it. I don't even now anything about android development but I'm intelligent enough to realise it takes work, especially when its not paid for. Let them get on with it and don't pressure them with stupid questions making them look incompetent.
Please close this thread! It's a useless topic

Buddy your post is worthless they dont know the poster above u explained it to you.. they might think their close but they can also run into a problem that would get them stuck for a long time.. so noone knows wait and see like the rest of us.. thats why there is a thread like custom rom dev and excelent progress on cyanogen so you can read whats going on and what the progress is. Read the forum.
And i also think the mods should close this thread as it is a joke.

For you to understand.. Lets say they are @ 99,99%, 1 small tiny thing can enormously slow down the proses or even make it (almost) impossible. No realistic person can put a timeline on these jobs.
A smart dev will never say it almost done before its really done.

And since they are all smart we don't know any timelines and they are working hard to ease our experience with this phone. Chill and wait till they inform you about the process.

good on you troll... we don't care!
The X10 community has some very talented developers working on the hack. I have no doubt 2.2 will be successfuly ported to our phone eventually.
Trolls must die... All.

Obviously some regular users on this forum don't get it. For a newbie, these forums are very, very difficult to extract exact information from.
There are so many different threads to look at.
Then once you find the thread, sometimes you still can't get an answer because the language spoken, is very much developer only.
A simple, no, they haven't cracked it yet, but they are still working very hard, would have been an easy, quick answer for all who was looking.

Why don't you guys just look at the developers thread and see how far away they are? You make your own assumptions but at least you will know what they are working on at the moment. Like last I checked was working on ram disks. But please no posts. Just look if your curious.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Right now, imho no one works on cracking the bootloader, but the managed to boot from a custom ramdisk, however its still far from a full working image (right now its more a proof of concept) usable for simple users.
That is my impression as well after reading the dev thread.
It seems they "gave up" on the bootloader, or are focusing on booting the stock kernel, and after that instead of running the stock init scripts and OS to load another OS. (but the kernel is the same)
please correct me if i'm wrong.
I'm in no hurry to get a custom OS, but i'd still appreciate if the guys who are working on it could let us know, what exactly they're doing (no timelines of course)
when it is proved that vibrant doent have any front face camera...so why are there so many threads on activating front camera through some modding. I dont understand when this is a hardware issue how will it get solve by a software thing.
Correct me if I am wrong (am a newbie pls) and please if there is a way I can use front camera (which I know I cant) give me a simple step by step guide to activate it.
Its called diy. I have a ffc in my vibrant. There is a full thread ok the vibrant development section.

That's what I'm waiting for. If it's not resolved by December (and I figure that give the developers plenty-o-time) then I'm not even going to go for it. Reason I say December is because by then I'll be off my contract and I'm more than certain that there will be more FFC cameras with much better specs. Why waste money and risk bricking on something that is still in the development stages?
Hi
I bough my vibrant and it came with a busted camera
it works tho, but the image looks like it has a lot of colored lines in the image.
I was going to buy a new one but im a noob in this XD
eanyway i went to ebay and search for samsung vibrant camera
but the only one that comes out is the one for i9000,
is that the right one for mine? btw i have the front facing camera mod.
and i cant see one for T959. that is why im 0.o
so if eanyone can tell me wich is the right one pleas help me
yes it works.

Okay first of all even though the thread title is technically true it's a bit misleading, why? Because in 99% of cases your screen isn't really scratched to begin with.
90% of all Xperia phones come with a shatter proof pre-installed factory screen protector, and most users are not aware of that, these protectors are very easily scratched, and the result is people thinking their screens got scratched and it causes damage to the brand so please guys when you see scratches on your screen just go and change that protector with a new one,let me tell you this, the actual screen specially on phones like the Acro S and GO are very tough and hard to scratch.
And moderators please make this one sticky to prevent any unnecessary complains in the future, thanks.

What made you say so? Browse the forum and you will find a lot of people complaining about how Xperia screens get easily scratched and none of them know about this, i myself didn't know for a year that my Arc had a pre-installed factory protector, today i told a friend of mine at work who owns a 2 years old X10 and he was amazed.

It is a digitizer issue I believe. I had the same issue and the area affected just grew larger as time went on. Hope its still under warranty, best bet is to get it replaced
