[Q] Help installing drivers... - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just installed Windows 7 Ultimate on my MacBook last night, but now I have no idea why I can't get the Samsung drivers to install. I'm on a 64gb NTFS partition, so I figured that everything would be business as usual.
The drivers I'm using are from the sticky rollup thread in the dev section.
Any help/advice?
EDIT: Never mind, I got it. Mods feel free to delete this thread.

I need help with modding

Forgive my ignorance, but I need some help.
I have the Samsung Vibrant and I have rooted it. I'd like to go on and try some ROM's, but the high number of ROM's and themes is a little confusing. Don't get me wrong, I'm extremely thankful for the wonderful folks who develop and provide ROM's and themes, it's just that I don't know where to go from here.
I remember running JesusFreak's ROM on my g1 and it was awesome. Does JF provide ROM's for the Vibrant? I hear a lot about cyanogen mod. Does Cyanogen provide ROM's for the Vibrant? What other options do I have?
My questions are:
How do I install a ROM on the Samsung Vibrant without the use of Microsoft Windows? (I use Ubuntu 10.04)
Do I need clockwork mod recovery? If so, how do I install that?
What else should I be doing or installing?
My phone:
Samsung Vibrant (rooted)
My desktop computer:
AMD Sempron 2800+
1GB RAM
nVidia GeForce 6200
Ubuntu 10.04 (I don't have a Windows OS)
I have the android SDK working great on Ubuntu
You should read up on the stickied threads in this forum before asking questions, especially in the dev. section. Check those out first!
1. You have to download "ROM Manager" from the market and flash Clockwork Recovery. You don't need Windows to install a ROM; however, if you were to MESS UP and need to flash back to stock. You're forced to be on a Windows OS system to use a program called Odin to flash back to stock.
2. Answered in #1... just flash it then boot into Clockwork from there.
Manually getting into recovery.. do the hardware keys to get into recovery then reinstall packages (do not rename update.zip)
3. Check if you're hardware locked, it won't be any good if you can't manually get into download mode. Really spend time on this as I don't even know if this is a legitmate as hardware lock (some say they do) but make sure to find out. Be aware of the steps you take, make sure that you're doing them properly.
+ Wrong section (had to end with this )
1. Many of the available ROMs can be installed through Clockwork.
2. To install Clockwork, download "ROM Manager" from the market.
3. Try as many of the ROMs as you can, and see what works best for you.
I'm currently using Stock DeOdexed for my ROM
My mods include:
Mobile AP
Segmented green battery indicator,
Stock Android lock screen,
Headphone sound fix,
Updated GPS settings from the new leaked firmware,
and I plan on doing the Voodoo lag fix when it is complete.
I'm also running ADW Launcher (search for it in the Market) and have removed the bloatware using Root Manager (also in the Market).
Thank you all so much! This takes a lot of the mystery out of things. You folks are great!

Yeah, I read that link a few times before posting but there was so much info that I kept getting confused.
zephiK and gravis86 helped clear up a lot of the mystery, thanks to them!
OMG! This opens up a whole new world. Made a nandroid backup and checking out ROM's now.
Update: I'm leaning heavily toward Bionix1.2, this ROM seems like it was made for me!
Thread moved to Vibrant Q&A.

[Q] Anomaly

I've installed XDAndroid on my TP2 before, on both SDcards that I've been using.
One's 4gb, one is 8.
Running latest energyrom (beautiful btw)
And I'm having some odd anomalies installing android.
Formatted both cards using SDformatter to FAT32.
First time around using FroyoX, I got kicked out when it wouldn't mount to SD.
Decided to try using .cab on the reference install and gave me the same problems.
Reformatted and installed the Blazn and it installed and ran fine.
I've never had any problems installing these before, but I'd prefer to be using the reference .cab and I've been searching for about 2.5 hrs now and I haven't found anything similar to this.
Any input or directions for me?
Greatly appreciate,

Please don't point him to old outdated stuff.
We don't really provide cabs anymore, as they not only fostered ignorance about the system, but actually take 2x as long to install. If you want a clean updated FRX04 bundle, see my thread here.
i know i know, but he asked for the cab xD and as far as i know that's the latest cab file there is even though the files in it are kinda outdated

[NEEDED] New Up-To-Date Dualboot Android SD & WP7

Before you say no we don't wipe everything out and try it again, with the new versions of the software required, you'll see the problems I am running into...
The tut's are a year and a half old, same as the software, some you can't get anymore cause it redirects you to the newest version.
So I'm requesting the newest version for a dualboot tut with WP7 and Android SD.
Or new write-up's on how to do this with other software, we all know progression happens especially with software, so we should keep up with progress and continue to update the old existing tut's or modify them to work with the new changes in the software.
Everyone says to follow the directions but it's hard to pull a command out of the directions when it doesn't exist in the software told to use anymore...
Nowhere in this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=913815 or this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=945565 did anyone tell us what version to use or get and download, they just assumed the features would stay there always...
Such as Minitools right click and set as primary. No longer there, you only have that option now when creating a new partition.
So thanks, for outdated material!
This is the tutorial I use now and it works fine for me.

the message of XDA is timeless. perhaps a misstep in your implementation of the procedure or some new bug might've spurred you on to make this thread but i think it's pointless to be honest.
i followed the very same procedure mentioned in the threads here as recently as two days ago and it works fine.
the one sd card card method has been implemented successfully a million times over, over a hundred times by myself alone, and never have i faced any issues with it (albeit i use MiniTool Partition Wizard for all steps instead of using Easeus at all).
you need to stick to the steps and sometimes use a lil' bit of ingenuity.
P.S. the right-click>modify>set as primary shows up for me fine. using the newest version (7.5)
EDIT-
i just read the stuff you've been running into with the setup procedure and i can sympathize. that's a whole lotta problems for such a simple thing to be done. follow the steps posted by HypoTurtle in the tutorial thread (the latest post he's made) and i think you should be alright.
just make sure you're doing everything exactly right and keep calm. you could PM me if you need a more in-depth walkthrough. peace!
I noticed there is no tutorial using the EXTRAPART-cabs. Maybe someone with more free time can write a full tutorial about it.
This will erase your sdcard not only once but twice. So back it up on your pc.
roughly steps:
install a rom with unlocked / unencrypted sd-card(tested it on HD2O© v2.02 WP7 8779)
choose the EXTRAPART-cab appropriate to the size of the android-partition
Send the cab using the cab-sender
factory reset your device
After booting in WP7, the normally 200 mb partition is according to the choosen EXTRAPART-cab.

[Q] Downloaded apk Errors help!

I ran across an old thread looking for info on how to read e-books from other sources other than BN. The old thread was about installing downloaded apk files and how to get them to work. I tried everything but was unable to complete the action so I'm starting a new thread to ask the questions. Sorry if the subj has been beat to death but I just joined and really need the info.
I have a Nook Tablet version 1.4.3 and when I try to installed a apk app I get the error (process com.android.browser) has stopped unexpectedly....
I'm getting this error all the time now. When I first tried downloading aldiko.apk reader, I went to the download icon in the left corner and it would say install and install with packet manager, or something like that. I picked packet manager but nothing would happen. I tried powering off/on and then trying it but all i get now when I try to install the apps is it asking me to open with Quickoffice Lite or Reader. Is it not going to work for me or am I doing something wrong. Any help would be appreciated
I believe sideloading .apk files was blocked by one of B&N's OTA updates (1.4.1 or one of those).
And I'm not certain, but you might be able to install the .apk files manually using ADB.

They're blocked unless you have a rooted nook, and even then it won't load correctly into the nook launcher because their own installer is still blocking unknown sources.
As per this post stickied in the General forum, all questions are to be posted in this Q&A forum not in General.
Thanks

[Q] what is android.process.acore?

hey, I did a search in NT for android.process.score and got no results, what is it and how do I fix it?
I am running NT 8gb 1.4.3 with cm10 build 08.3 and installed using cwm 6.0.1.5 I can't think of any other system mods I'm running. in some of the other device forums I read (here on xda) I was reading it had to do with facebook, but I have never even been on fb with this device. thanks for any help and sorry if I am being a noob.
What was the last thing you did before you got that message?
Can you do something after it appeared?
More info means better chance of possible solutions!
If you Googled I guess you read this one and tried what's said there:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1942731 and it didn't work?
it was from a fresh install, however I think I figured it out. I disabled contacts and then cleared data in the app manager and so far it does t seem to becoming back.if it does I will update this thread.
when I posted I was only looking for nt stuff however I stumbled across this fix on another site and tried it and it seems to work. sorry about any wasted time and/or space.
