i have an HTC Magic with a data plan and i want to connect my xperia mini pro to it via wifi, but it doesn't show the connection while the pc does. how can we connect to an ad hoc wifi with our minis?

i need to make ad hoc wifi conection cause i have poor network at home and i use the computer to connect other devices through ad hoc connection cause im using external wireless modem
is it possible the the mini does not support this conection?

this is for all those who have problems using Ad-Hoc wifi...
i have found a way to use it..
in ordr to connect your phone to Wifi ad-hoc network u will have to first connect atleast 2 computers/laptops to that ad-hoc network....
after that if you connect your phone to that network you'll see it finally working..
thans all deelopers for the ROMS..

i modified my wpa supplicant to get adhoc connectivity.
my phone can connected to adhoc network created in my desktop, but no internet available in my phone.
i have checked the "enable internet sharing" option of the LAN adapter which carries internet to my desktop, but no way..
also tried connectify and virtual hotsopt..same situation..
please help me to find a solution..
What type of modem/router do you have and does it have wifi capability?
IIRC the android doesnt support ad-hoc networks. Use a program called connectify to set up a virtual access point your phone can use
Edit ah ok forget it im getting sleepy here... Perhaps you shod try going with different wireless security? WPA/PSK works well here.

Xperia neo V not finding the wifi hotspot which I created in laptop. How can I solve this issue?
I tried to share Internet connection from my laptop(Dell vostro 3500) to Xperia Neo V(android 4) through wifi. Neo V Wifi not detecting WEP wifi hotspot from Laptop.
Same wifi hotspot can connect properly to IPhon & other laptops.
Internet sharing from Mobile to laptop through wifi is working properly.
I used Tatadocomo USB Datacard for Internet connection.

may be you should try with wpa2 ... as I don't think android supports wep networks.
Did you make a hotspot or adhoc?
Because adhoc isn't supported in neo/v

You can use conectify pro. You have to buy the pro version in order to share your internet.It creates wpa wifi hotspot without router which is detected by neo and neo v and if u want to use it with no interruption you have to use stock based rom with stock based kernel. Otherwise it tends to disconnect after sometime and reconnect which is very annoying.

I am using connectify and able to connect to hotspot created but as u mentioned it frequently connect and disconnect.
Can you please tell me how to use stock based rom with stock based kernel?

Hi .... Yesterday i got my new xperia neo v .... I updated it to ICS . Everything is perfect bt having problem with wifi and usb tethering. Im trying to connect inernet to my laptop bt it's saying limited access on wifi tether and no network connectivity on usb tether. I also tried pdanet and easy tether bt nothing worked. So guys i want little help .. I need very badly to access internet on laptop. Thanx in advance....
