Hey guys-
I just loaded EB01 radio, rom, and kernel on my SF a few weeks ago. I have noticed really bad reception issues since then. At my house where my wife's Droid Pro gets 4 bars, I'm getting zero to one if I'm lucky. Same with at work, where it used to be just fine. And it's draining my battery because of it. When I try to send a text message, half the time it doesn't go through and gives me the error-message not sent. I will get notification of a voicemail but the phone never rang. Is there a new radio release since the February release of EB01 that I could try? Or any other suggestions? I'm open to just about anything. Thanks!
That's strange because I actually have better reception since I flashed to it. Have you tried updating your roaming capabilities lately?
Was it this eb01 modem? there is also a patch for Samsung MMS (stock, eb01) at the second link.

Yeah it was that one, straight off here. My MMS is working fine. I just tried reflashing it so I'll give that a shot over the next day or so but I haven't noticed an improvement yet.

When I do *228 option 2 or 1 or *22899, after playing all the music it acts like it's going to reboot and all that but just vibrates once....then vibrates twice.....then a FC popup saying "The process com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." So I hit force close. Then my menu, home, and search buttons don't work. This is weird....

Try flashing the DL09Modem.tar file using Odin. It's easy to do, and easy to switch back if it doesn't help.
I'm not on my Windows box, but I know the DL09 file is called DL09Modem.tar file and I 'think' that the EB01 is EB01Modem.tar
Get the two tar files and then push the DL09 file via Odin and your phone in Download mode.
Try that and see if one works better than the other. I'm using the DL09 Modem because my GPS works better on DL09 than EB01.

Tried it for a few hours last night before charging and this morning for an hour or so and I'm not receiving calls like I should. Under battery use it's saying I've been without a signal for 68% of the time. I'm trying DJ05 now....we shall see.

Ok, I was restoring my phone to stock with odin following these stpes
Disable Voodoo
Odin to eugenes froyo that wont brick
sticks at vibrant screen
tried odining to JFD
odin completes but still hangs at the vibrant screen
I have tried with and with out repartition checked and I am able to enter and exit download mode freely, I have tried 3 differnt versions of odin and 2 different downloads of the pda and pits. Any help would be great.
EDIT, Odin is finishing at the pass stage when the phone attempts to boot Currently flashing the JI6 seeing if it works.
Still not getting anywhere, I have now tried to odin to eugenes froyo, JFD, JI6, all which end the same with out a boot screen, I can get download but no recovery.
From my understanding when you flash eugenes froyo that wont brick the boot animation should change to the international one, mine has not done that so I am starting to wonder if there is an issue with the flashes themself.
How long did you wait after flashing the stock firmware? The first boot usually takes a while after an Odin. Did Odin finish flashing everything to the point that it said restart in blue?
You can find instructions to revert to stock http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=734475
I've gotten myself out of some pretty bad "bricks" with JFD and ODIN... make sure you also use the stock .pit file and you can check repartition, use JFD and should fix you right up.
I have waited for 10-15 minutes after it says restart and then sometimes after it says pass, and I have done to jfd and stock pit.
left phone at boot fell asleep woke up hr or so later still at vibrant screen, still cannot access recovery but can access download mode.
To OP. What custom rom did you run before flashing back to stock? Have you recovered?

I was on axura the newest one and did not like it that much tbh had tons of processes starting nonstop and was constantly down to 35m of memory while idle. No I have not recoverd, I have flashed every combo I can think of with ODIN but alas have had no luck.
Currently it is being warrantied out for a free replacement.

So tired.... I am in the same boat. But I get to flash Eugenes froyo but i have 0 room in app storage. Then When I try to Odin to stock JFD and stock .pit it all goes well untill I get to recovery and it tells me in red text "data wipe failed"
The phone reboots and goes black after the galaxy s animation.
You think samsung will fix it for me? I go the phone in July 2010.
To OP.
have you tried flashing eugenes froyo that doesn't brick? I can't understand why a lot of these bricks are happening right now. Especially when you do flash your phone back to stock.

How would I know if samsung will fix it.. I called tmobile said it got bricked while doing JI6 boom problem solved. Their support is not that great though he was having me try to access root by calling it a secert master menu, then asked if i tethered my comp to it but his definition of tether was syncing files I was just playing dumb and letting him ask me his questions

Rooting your device and flashing custom roms onto it voids your warranty from t-mobile. You are wasting your time trying to see if they will help, This is NOT in their job description. They might laugh at you.
@OP Try flashing to a TRUE stock firmware, I personally would not flash from a custom rom to another custom rom, does that make sense? You should go back to t-mobiles legit 2.1. There is a link in the Bible here under the Dev forum. But, The link is broken. So Ive uploaded it here http://www.mediafire.com/?8kw71bx06an0vwg
Don't give up on odin yet, try things like changing your usb ports on the computer, this has worked for me. I also have a video tutorial using odin, it might be of some help to you. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10207377&postcount=1

I upgraded to super clean 2.9.2, but baseband shows up as DI01. is that normal, or did mine not update?
Only Odin/Heimdall will work. We don't know where the modem.bin goes, so we can't use redbend_ua or any other recovery-based method.
Modem(baseband) is not included in super clean. You need to update via odin pda button. DL09 and EB01 modems work well with the latest superclean.

oh...so do I just simply flash it through odin as pda? any prerequisites?
Here is a link to the EB01 Modem.
http://www.mediafire.com/?1r7uk6gf8d6s76z
You will need to use ODIN to install this.
Use the PDA button ONLY, navigate to the location of the modem file, click it, then run odin. Your phone will reboot and verify that you have the correct baseband.
If you do not know how to use odin I highly recommend reading this link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=948722
...thoroughly before starting with odin.
Good luck!
note* the link to the guide also contains information about flashing the EB01 modem and the same link I have published here!

As long as you use the PDA button and have used odin before you should be fine. Its very straight forward. Just D/L the modem from my link and your good to go!
after I flashed through odin, there seems to be a problem with the battery...?
charge level was 51% before I flashed, but after it showed up as 100% instantly. what's going on?
I don't know the actual cause, but I would assume it has something to do with the battery stats more or less.
You might try turning the phone off and leave it charge over night and in the morning wipe the battery stats (search for this there are plenty of threads! ). Then drain it before charging next time. You should see the battery return to normal.
I wouldn't be to worried about it as I have flashed my phone(stupidly I will admit) at any number of different percentages and I still am getting great battery life.

Since I jumped into the xda forums after eb01 had come out, I've been trying to find a DL09 modem to use with Odin. Seems like most people are going crazy for thew newer basebands, but I've heard that DL09 works great with both GPS and battery life.
That said, you don't happen to have a working DL09 download link that you could toss on here do you?

Thanks dude. btw, the only time i've flashed the modem before was when I first made the jump to eb01 a month and a half ago. Is it ok to just ODIN the modem, or do I have to re-flash a rom after I flash the modem?
*edit* well, I went ahead and odin'd the modem over top of all the stuff I've already got on there. <fingers crossed> Seems to work so far.

Oh yes. I *have* used ODIN several other times, especially for recovering from some sort of boot loop and a few other issues, so I'm very familiar with the PDA button by now. But probably good to have that warning there in case anybody else reads this for help later on.
Hey all,
So I've been digging into this for about a week now and have come up with no conclusive results. I sincerely hope someone can point me in the right direction.
I've been experiencing random lockups and resets recently on EVERY rom I use, including all stock roms. I just don't get it. So I've been trying every rom possible and going back to stock, changing kernels, underclocking and overclocking, changing I/O schedulers, etc...
But what is really blowing my mind is that regardless of how many full wipe and restores I've done, my phone still seems to remember my wifi network and other random info. My question is this:
Is there a way to truly get my phone all the way reformatted to how it came out of the box? (blank slate with absolutely NO user date whatsoever)
If anybody can help me out with this, it would be so greatly appreciated.
Also, I have to manually update the drivers on my device everytime I put it in to download just for Odin to work with it.
follow the going back to stock section in the link...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1238070
Yeah I've done this so many times its sickening. Appears the drivers are gone from my phone as well.
This may be a stupid question, but somewhere along the the way I guess my nandroid backup disappeared. Is it possible to use someone elses?

One thing to try is to back up your sd card to a computer then reformat it, then odin a stock package and see if that fixes things. Or odin all the way back to eclair (dl09) then flash your rom of choice. This was the only way I could get on cm7.

Your welcome...Glad it worked for ya! I think dl09 is the best stock package to odin as far as clean install. I was having one hell of a time trying to put cm7.1 on my phone a few days ago...tried every stock froyo package and pwgb, but couldnt get the file system to convert. just a bunch of "can't mount system/data" errors. Finally decided to try the old dl09 package and reformat sd card and bam cm7 installed...which imo was a good indicator that some of the stock odin packages out there do not completely wipe everything.

Yeah that has absolutely been my experience now. ED05 ended up failing me in the end. I just never thought to use dl09 since it was so old but now I'm a firm believer it is the only stock odin package that should be used for clean installs. I had so many issues before this and now it feels like the first time I ever installed a custom rom. And zero problems as well. Thanks again!

I just put 112 on the other night. I had an issue where 3G wouldn't go green and my data wouldn't transmit and I also installed the latest GAPPS. I went into airplane mode and back out then it seemed ok. Hasn't happened again. I also then flashed EH03 through Odin and seem to be good.
I noticed EH03 gave me faster 3G in a speedtest, not a huge indicator of true performance, but everything has been solid for a couple days now. I used droidstyle's guide and so far I haven't hit any 1x bumps on the speed.
Wondering if this is just me having problems with these updates and keeping root. My first phone I only had for a couple of months. I was rooted on NF6 and updated to BNG3 through Mobile Odin pro, after which VoLTE disappeared and WiFi calling just stays grayed out on "enabling". Completely wiped the phone, re-installed stock software and still could not get these options to work or enable. T-Mobile replaced the phone.
I now have another phone, rooted and was on NF6 and was worried about updating to BNG3 due to what happened on my first phone. I got an update notice about BNG4 and decided to download the full .tar and update through Mobile Odin pro and then flash the firmware via PC Odin. Did that and now I cannot use WiFi calling again and VoLTE is gone from call settings once again.
Is anyone else having this issue, or does it seem like I am doing something wrong? Any help or responses would be helpful before I go back to T-Mobile again.
..
You are right, my initial information was not very detailed. I was writing in a hurry at the time. I did not notice these problems as I was out of state on business and calling over WiFi was not needed. I only use it at home as signal is not the greatest, and that is when I noticed the issue and from reading I could not find an issue relating to mine.
When I have updated, I have not cleared cache or so forth. I just used Mobile Odin with the stock .tar to get the latest update and inject root/superuser and that is pretty much it. I have after the fact, done a factory reset and PC Odin back to a stock state (no root, etc) and this has not fixed my issue with WiFi calling. I have seen other threads in regards to WiFi calling, however I have not seen anything that refers to my issue at hand after updating in the manner that I have.
Can you actually do a full backup while running a stock ROM? I have used other custom recoveries on other phones and completed backups that way but not on a stock rooted phone.
..
Cleared cache as recommended through recovery (no change). Used PC Odin to revert back to the stock .tar the phone came with (ANE6), as well as not having root. Also no change with the problem, still cannot use Wifi calling.
Something very interesting just happened. I got a notice from T-Mobile about an update after restoring to ANE6 and I let it download and now I'm on BNG3 and Wifi calling is working, just no root right now. I can take care of that later.
Thanks for you time with trying to help and giving good information.

It definitely seems like a problem with mobile odin pro.
How exactly have you gone about the update process with mobile Odin?
What I would do is simply follow the threads on here that explain in details what you need to do to update and keep root. The flashing process is what is preventing you from using those features. Something is definitely not being flashed properly and carrying over from the update.

These are the steps that I went by: I used this method when going from NE6 to NF6 (worked great). When I did these same steps trying to update to NG3 or NG4 is when I had problems.
Download the NF6 Full Stock TAR
Extract the single *.tar.md5 file from the downloaded ZIP in step 1
Copy this extracted file (G900TUVU1BNF6_G900TTMB1BNF6_G900TUVU1BNF6_HOME.ta r.md5) to your sdcard (I used my external sdcard)
Throw down the $4.99 and purchase Chainfire's Mobile ODIN Pro from Play Store (link)
Open Mobile ODIN PRO and click 'OK' to the warning about bootloaders and grant it root access when prompted
Scroll down to 'Open file ...' and click it.
Here I was prompted for either 'Internal SD-card' or 'External SD-card'. Select which ever location you copied the TAR to in step 3
Now select the actual folder and file for the location of the TAR you copiend in step 3
You'll be presented with the list of partitions your TAR contains. Click 'OK'
Leave all partitions as-is and be sure to check/tick both 'Enable EverRoot' and 'Inject Superuser (SuperSU)'
Optionally, you may also check to wipe Dalvik and/or data & cache. <-- Not required, but I checked 'Wipe Dalvik cache' because it's harmless.
Click 'Flash firmware'

I'm not 100% right now, I believe that when I was using Mobile Odin to do the updates, the baseband was staying the same. On my last attempts I used Mobile Odin to update versions and then used PC Odin to update the firmware as so everything was the same.
The phone is working now since I restored back to NE6 and it connected with T-Mobile to do OTA updates and now on NG4. I might just use CF Auto Root and not worry about Knox.

I understand that. But wouldn't PC Odin the firmware include the modem when flashing? I will try just doing the modem next and see how it goes. Thanks for the advice.

It does include the modem, however, they don't always get applied. I know you need to boot to stock recovery after flashing the modem, and the recovery does something, then you can reboot and it should be applied. But I am 99 percent confident that is why those things weren't working for you.

Cool, thanks for the info and help. I will try flashing tonight and see how it goes and report back.
I appreciate both of you trying to help. I do try to read as much as possible before posting and cluttering the forums, but I could not figure this one out.
Cheers

THANK YOU! That was the issue. Flashing the modem individually and now everything is working as it should. I owe you a beer my friend.
Thanks again.

heya Legend,
I just had the same thing happen to me today when i ran pc odin to upgrade to NH5. I previously was stock rooted with NG3 and everything worked fine. Ran the firmware, rebooted to download and then installed bootloader. wifi calling was sitting at Greyed out saying enabling. never would turn on. installed TWRP 2.8 to wipe cache and dalvik and also ran a fix permissions. at that point phone wouldnt reboot, sat at Galaxy s5 splash screen. pulled battery, went back and tried to wipe again. still hung at splash. so i downgraded back to NG3 doing firmware, then bootloader. now phone boots fine but wifi calling still will not turn on. Which sucks because i just got my personal Cellspot up and runnin yesterday.
Can you tell me exactly what you did to get your wifi calling running again? or anyone else have any ideas/thoughts?
Thanks in advance

I used PC Odin to just install the modem. Technically the firmware flash should load the modem but it didn't work for me.
This is what was recommended to me and it fixed the problem.
Damn, that did not work for me. tried flashing a few different modems too.

When you flashed the modems are you sure they actually installed? A lot of people are having problems with getting modems to stick when flashed. You have to pull the battery for several seconds before you boot into download mode then flash the modem, and after it boot go to your about device screen to make sure you have the new modem.
