I recently bought the Atrix 4G to use in Hong Kong, and I can't seem to find an option to disable showing of my carrier name on the notification bar.
As my carrier is SmartoneVodafone, this has taken up all the spaces on the bar.

I got the same problem and I've tried this app to remove the carrier name before but failed.
The developer stated "This will probably not work on the evo with stock rom and will not work with any rom that only shows what network you're connected to. This app only changes the carrier name wich is taken from your sim card.", this may be the reason why I was failing to remove the name with the app.

Runnging Gingerblur, how to add Carrier name to status bar?

Is there any way i can re-add the carrier name to the status bar? I just got a ATT micro-cell and my dad and brother's iphones show 'att m-cell' in their status bar when connected. Since i'm running Gingerblur i cant tell if i'm connected or not I'm pretty sure i am but i just want to make sure that it's all set up on my device also.
thanks in advance
IDK about adding it back , but if you go to settings>about phone> status, AT&T Microcell will be under network, if connected! Hope that helps!
awesome that worked perfect. i've been in that menu hundreds of times before but it didnt click to check there now. thanks
No Problem buddy, I'm an Android Newb, so I'm learning all this stuff! Glad I could help!
Im in a similar situation. When Im on the microcell it says "AT&T MicroCell" and takes my entire notification bar. I would love to be able to change it to MCell.? I found this app, but It only changes carrier name no option for mcell.

[Q] galaxy s3 sim card confusion

i inserted a sim card with international roaming but a triangle is coming and in my notifications it said
Lost data connectivity

Plus i have signal bars without and with the SIM card, the only difference is when i insert the sim card, there is an R with the signal bars
is my device factory unlocked or not? and will any carrier work on it or not?

Many networks allow the device to connect even without a (valid) SIM-card in case you need to send an emergency call.
It should display somewhere "Emergency call only" or something like that.

The phone doesn't know you have or want international Roaming. By default it disables data connectivity to prevent you from getting charged.
Go to Settings->More->Mobile network settings and tick "Data roaming".

That won't tell you.
Dial this in stock Dialler, it will show if your device is SiM-locked: *#7465625#
If yes, search Voodoo S3 on the Play Store, it can sim-unlock your device if you're rooted.
i used the code you have mentioned
it says USSD code running
and after a few seconds it gives an error that

You need to use Samsung Stock Dialer, not e.g. Go Contacts.

[Q] CM9 Rom displaying No service since switch to EE (formally t-mobile UK)

I have been running the CM9 rom on my Galaxy S3 fine until I recieved an SMS from Tmobile stating that my signal has been switched to EE.
However now my Carrier is displaying 'No Service'
My phone still works correctly so appears to just not reconise EE as the carrier.
Has anybody else had this? and does anybody know if there is a fix for this.
I want it to properly display when have signal not just a custom carrier name. Is there a way to update the carrier list?

I'm on Orange, using XXDLIB. I had a SIM update text, deleted and rebooted, and lost my signal too!
I left it about an hour, rang Orange, and during the 28 minutes of queing I rebooted and got another text, rebooted again and it was working, with "[email protected]@@@@@@@@@" showing as the carrier in the pulldown thingy. Not sure what the @'s are about!
So my solution... patience!

Contact your network the phone cannot know that the name has changed .
Unless you have a brand new Sim or an update as per the other post.

Thanks guys, I should have mentioned after flashing back to stock 4.1.1 EE displays correctly, seems to be a problem with CM9 Rom only.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Sorry mate, don't use CM.. I prefer the sammy ROMs.
A wild guess - maybe the T-Mobile CSC isn't in the ROM? Don't know if that would affect actually connecting to the network though.
Might be worth posting in the CM9 thread.
Help us sort this please!?

Same problem here yet Im on CM10 Dark Paranoid Android. Does same on any other CM10 ROM that I've tried too (Slim bean, CM10 Milestone 1 etc). Doesn't affect usage, just looks unpretty because now displays "NO SERVICE". Now and again says T-Mobile, but never lasts long. Have tried the option of editing a file - I think was callled spn, and also have tried Carrier Name Changer from google market with no avail.
Any help would be much appreciated

[Q] Disable "No SIM card - T-Mobile" on lock screen

I just picked up this phone last weekend. It's unlocked, and it's working great with T-Mobile's towers, but the notification bar in the lock screen says "No SIM card - T-Mobile". The message is gone as soon as I unlock the screen. Only other problem is that the T-Mobile My Account app won't update my minutes/texts/data, but I don't care much about that.
Any advice on eliminating that message?

Since that's a custom rom, you might be able to go into the setting and change the Service tag? Try going into settings and try that also do you have the T-Mobile LTE APN?

Same here. If you just want to access the network settings you can download an app like "ForceLTE" or similar.
I'm facing the same problem, I am appreciated if anyone have the solution?
Check your carrier and location
Whether you can use VoLTE or not depends on a few things:
* Your location, your account with your carrier, and the model of your phone.
* The carrier, carrier account, location, and phone model of the person you're calling.
* Some carriers support VoLTE only in certain cities or area codes. Contact your carrier to ask about your area and account.

Thanks for your reply, the problem is I have no problem to have VOLTE by using Galaxy S10 with same sim card and I couldn't find the volte "switch" in the oppo UI and couldn't turn on/off. As a result couldn't use the VOLTE function. Therefore I do think it is the firmware problem from Oppo.
I just thinking about if I could flash the official Taiwan rom of same global phone model to my current one for solving the problem. But I'm not sure if it is workable or not.

Ah. I have CPH1919 (UK) and only option is call over Wi-fi. There is also no way to get to the hidden service menu either like in every other phone I've had.
If you know for sure that Taiwan firmware has it, then I suppose, in theory, it would work providing that it is also definitely CPH1919 - any other variant has different partition structure. Be careful. Read around and let us know. Good luck
I have a CPH1919TW, it's using the same global firmware as CPH1919EX (even Oppo TW provides CPH1919EX ROM for download), the phone will ID itself as CPH1919TW.

May I know if your phone have the VOLTE enable switch in the network manual?
