OK guys. I live in Fresno CA. the closest city on the speedtest app is Modesto CA. Each time I use the Modesto server I get about 0.75-1.5mbps. Then when I switch it to the next closest server in San Jose I get 3-4mbps. How accurate are these.

It's just meant to give you an idea of what your network is capable of because when using the internet you are accessing servers all over the world so results will always differ.
The Modesto server always seems slow. I use SF, SJ, or LA.

I don't trust it. My buddy with an iPhone 4 had the same signal as me and I was pulling 1.8Mbps down and he was getting 4+Mbps down from the same server. When I had 1-2 bars of 3G I was hitting 2.8Mbps down then went outside and had 4 bars and it dropped. No thanks for that app.
I live in near chicago and the fastest server for me is fort worth texas. The chicago and, auora server are like <100 miles from me but I DL at like .5 off them vs 2-3 from texas. No idea what thats about.

So from a fellow CA user its just the Modesto server?

In my experience that is the case.

I am in Hanford, always use Mammoth Lakes server.

The atrix speeds just seem to be slow in general. We had an inspire 4g, iphone 4, and atrix 4g all next to eachother, every device had full signal. The inspire and atrix had about 10kbps download and 80 up, while the iphone 4 was at 1.5mbps down and 1.0mbps up
I am usually comparable in download to my fiancees iPhone 4 and brothers Nexus One. Alot of times inside the house(terrible reception) I get the best results.

So not sure if this has been discussed previously but it would definitely help back up the need for improvement in the antenna or network. This app basically pings the cellphone towers for data and reports it, you can read more on the link below.

nice app thanks bro
just so you guys know this app is collecting our IMEI and ESNs (unique device id) i just started a thread on their forum asking them why.
edit: they changed the app so they no longer store our IMEI or ESN and added some security to the app. i am impressed by their response and just installed the app.
I figure both to distinguish what device and what network

Good info.
Also, be prepared for your battery life to decrease. These apps/services have been around for a while, and most users complaints are that the apps constantly running in the background kills their battery because it doesn't allow the phone to sleep properly.
So is this app basically like Sensorly?

Well battery is debatable given you adjust the interval.

I used qpst to change my carrier banner and it screws it up that's what the app uses to find what carrier u are on

Anyone else experiencing this? I live in Maui, so i obviously don't have LTE. I have an unlimited data plan in which only 250 megabytes have been consumed. I will be at the store and have 4 or 5 bars and it takes forever to load a simple web page.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

When did this change? Last year when I was on business travel, I always would use Google voice when I didn't have service in my hotel room.
I just tried it, and it did not work on WiFi

Just more bullsh from HTC. First complaint I've ever made about this device. I'm Ann htc fan thru and thru. But that was really handy when I didn't have service.

Well, thanks for the heads up because I'm heading out on another business trip on Monday. I guess I will be downloading this app.
